I would like to preface this review by stating that as a hospitality professional, I do not believe in leaving negative reviews because I understand mistakes happen. In hospitality, it is not the mistake you make but how you recover. However in this case, the management at this establishment, which I cannot categorize as a hotel at this time has a very skewed idea of hospitality. This is a shame because they have some very good team members such as Jerry and while they seem eager to help, I can tell that their hands are tied. On my recent trip to H2 Hotel, I encountered many issues and insult was only added to injury after a conversation with Aziz, the General Manager. I reached out to him as a matter of professional courtesy with constructive criticism and instead of listening and empathizing with me touted about his 4.6 star rating on Trip Advisor and how he opened the best hotels in New York and Las Vegas and how he was a partner; and so I decided to share my experience with my fellow travelers as you deserve to know. While the hotel made a small adjustment, it was not appropriate for all the challenges I faced. I also sent an e-mail to ownership which went unanswered. The shower head in my suite was similar to a sprayer on a kitchen sink. When I mentioned it their Director of Operations, she stated that she gets complaints about them at their sister property, Hotel Healdsburg but has not received any complaints in six years at H2 however when my traveling companion went to use the shower, she complained as well without me saying anything. The fact that there is no all day food service is an issue for me. Even if you have prepared cheese plates, chips and salsa, something, anything, this is not too much to ask for in a four star hotel with the rates they charge. Apparently this was communicated as I wanted something "special" and apparently the General Manager, who happened to be the one who answered the phone at the hotel restaurant after several unsuccessful calls to the front desk made it seem as it was an inconvenience when I asked that they fire the chicken from their menu promptly at 5pm when the kitchen opened. The General Manager never bothered to introduce himself nor make an effort to reach out to me despite obviously being aware of my challenges. There were several maintenance issues in the room, loose fixtures, non working door bell, mold in the bathroom sink and water trapped behind the backsplash. My room was not properly serviced on my last day, my robes weren't replaced and because the bathroom floor is not properly pitched, the entire bathroom becomes a puddle after a shower. The bar was also not open on time at 3pm on Saturday after we waited an hour for it to do so and once we finished our drinks, the empty glasses remained on the bar for over an hour until after we returned from our walk. Furthermore, my room was right below an entire family staying in the suite above me and there are no area rugs in the bedroom. You should also know that I actually tried to downgrade my suite to their only other room, an entry level room and they informed me that it would actually increase my rate because the rates have gone up since I booked. Their integrity and ethics are questionable at best. Their rates are exorbitant and they even charge you for taking the toiletries in the room! I also came to find out that apparently someone on the staff complained about me complaining believe it or not so be careful if you are staying here on business and complain because it might get back to your employer or client! They stated that I "wanted to bring my glass of wine to the pool but was not allowed due to hotel policy and I made it clear I was going to anyway" - this I find especially interesting because neither me nor my guest had wine. Not to mention, no one told me I couldn't bring our cocktails to the pool. Being a hospitality professional and owner/operator of a venue with a pool, I am especially conscience of glass by the pool, I even offered to swap out the glasses for plastic cups when Jerry came out with some water and when we were done, I personally brought the two remaining glasses to the front desk so no one else would accidentally break them by the pool. It was also reported that I "brought 2-3 extra people to the complimentary breakfast." I didn't ask them to provide complimentary breakfast for my guests nor try to sneak them in-I was aware they charged for outside guests and was prepared to pay and The Director of Operations said she was taking care of it but I was still charged for two mimosas anyway. My guests returned again on Monday and paid for their breakfast and were told we could not order a Bloody Mary nor could I have a slice of cheese for my eggs nor did the staff know how to charge them for the breakfast as we waited quite a while. I was nothing but pleasant, cordial, understanding and professional despite all. read more

This was a very nice hotel. I liked that it wasn't right on the main strip (you have to go in between 2 places to get it) and it was secluded. Their spoon fountain is such an eye catcher! And staff was very friendly. They are very eco-friendly and it was very modern. I think that's the new style for the new hotels (went to the hotel after only being open for 1 month.) The showers were awesome, and very modern. The strange part about the room was that you had to put your room key into a slot for the lights to work. I guess that's a way of being eco-friendly and saving energy! The one thing I didn't like was the fact that the standard king room was 2 twin beds pushed together and the mattress cover wasn't level with the other mattress. I'd stay there again. read more

Modern design was great, and bar that can open to street was hopping. Rooms are awesome, especially baths. Lights are very difficult to figure out. Major, major bummer was the staff. My wife walked in to get a drink from the pool...there were 4 wait staff wiping down silverware, none of whom had thought to maybe make a tip by coming out to help us. When she asked for the bar, an insolent guy said "bar's around the corner." She went to that bar, nobody there. Came back, asked again, he said, eyes rolling, "the FRONT bar." Are you kidding? Next day, the staff was much more friendly, but still not helpful. Couldn't suggest either a hike or a good breakfast place in Healdsburg. We asked for a place with omelets and she suggested "Omelette Express" in a town 30 miles away. Yeah, not what we had in mind. For this price point, they need a true concierge. Great concept and great physical execution. Need to work on staff attitude and knowledge. read more

Awesome place to spend a few days to get away as we did last January. Great location, great hotel, nice service, very little to complain about. We got a package called the "Healdsburg for Two." Our room was located on the third floor away from the elevator. Great room (comfy bed, great Japanese soaking tub and nice little balcony over-looking the creek). The one drawback of the room was the noise that came from those walking on the flooring. The floor is bamboo and is quite loud especially if your upstairs neighbor is wearing heels. The hotel is situated downtown and offered us several coupons for free wine tastings at the local wineries. They also gave us free use of bikes to cruise through downtown or amongst the vineyards, we opted for the vineyards. The restaurant is good and the morning breakfast is awesome. I also loved the water stations on each floor where you could fill up a "milk bottle" with cold fresh water. I bought a couple of these water bottles and currently use them in my refrigerator. Lastly, I thought the art piece "Spoons" at the front door was really cool. read more

How do you wright a negative review for a Hotel you have enjoyed in the past? I had to go to facts that have just taken place so there is no misunderstanding about what we have just experienced. h2hotel sent an email to us - regular customers - enticing us to rent their hotel. Due to the fast deadline they set up (2 days) we immediately wanted to take advantage of their wonderful offer so we proceeded to their website to book. The website would not allow us to do so, it simply was not working. We called reservations only to find out they were not working on Sunday, the day they sent the email. We called the Hotel front desk and found out they had plenty of rooms available but they could not help us with a reservation. We sent two emails to reservations - they were never responded. We left two voice messages at reservations, they were never responded to. Finally we decided to call on Monday at 9:30 AM so we could book the hotel for two nights. We called and the reservations lady agreed there was an error with their website, agreed they had no rooms to supply for their offer they just sent out. She than proceeded to treat us like absolute garbage and to tell us she was right and we were wrong. Since we could not get anywhere with this lady, we asked her to transfer us to a manager. She indicated, I am the reservations manager and you can't go anywhere else. WOW! She indicated she only had one room available for our second night but the rate would be $499 instead of their $299 they were offering. We decided to not go any further with this lady and we took the time to call the hotel front desk and asked if we could talk to someone that could take care of our complaint. We got a hold of a person that indicated he would bring the issue up to the actual owners and he would call us back. He tried his best but came up short and could not stand for their original offer. We thanked him and simply indicated, we will no longer book the Hotel now or in the future. How can a Hotel offer a sale they are not willing to honor, acknowledge their website is not working and than treat their regular customers like garbage? Beyond our understanding and hence the reason why we will not be going to them in the future. We hope others will do the same. January 07, 2017 update. h2hotel responded to my post. I decided to try again and email them about the issues. I did this the next day they posted their reply, I have not heard one word from them - via email - phone call - or any other way. Again, it is hypocritical of them to post nice words claiming assistance - when in reality they were not interested in resolving the problem - they just wanted other readers to think they were doing something. read more

Our 3 day stay at h2 could not have been more enjoyable. The hotel's unique contemporary design was a treat, but it was the staff made us feel comfortable at every opportunity. We asked to ride the hotel bikes, and they helped us even though it was raining. Our suite (2.04) was very nice and beyond what we expected. Next time we head to Napa, Sonoma or anywhere in the wine country, we will be staying in Healdsburg. Thanks again to the h2 staff for making our trip unforgettable. this hotel has some great amenities that made our stay for my birthday there worthwhile. the included breakfast with choice of made-to-order egg dishes, the smart tvs with access to netflix, and the unlimited supply of sparking water totally made my stay! however their weird lumpy mattress and down bedding was a downer, as i left with a case of allergies and an almost sprained back that i had to nurse all birthday afternoon. the bathrooms were also odd. the set up was such that if you took a shower the entire bathroom floor would somehow get wet, including the separate enclosed toilet room. totally unideal. i also thought their valet was a total racket, as the valet parked our car in the neighboring lot. why not just offer complimentary parking in that lot? moneygrubbers. i'd definitely stay again for the proximity to bars, tasting rooms, and restaurants in town, but knowing full well to bring my own pillow, aspercreme, and allergy meds. read more

H2 was touted as being a new green hip hotel what we found instead is untrained & uninterested staff, no amenities & rooms that were very standard. A clear message is sent when you are standing at the desk for a question & they can't interrupt their personal conversations to acknowledge a guest. Clear messages are received she you sit at the bar by the espresso machine & are told someone will help you & 4 different employees come over and don't help. A clear message is received when servers don't know the standard protocol to bus tables & bring an entire busing tray behind your table to noisily put the dishes in. A clear message is heard loud & clear when you ask an employee a question about the cigar store across the street and NO ONE at the hotel can answer and it would appear that you are speaking another language. Needless to say next time we are in the area we will leave our carbon footprint because going green didn't work. read more

Ok, so the front desk is always terrible, I agree with the rest of the reviews, customer service has never been a top priority as there's not much competition in Healdbsburg for a chic hotel. Rooms are great but the entire 2nd floor smelled like sewage. From Friday until Sunday the hallway still reeked of this smell so beware of the 2nd floor. PS - Look at your credit card statement! It's Healdsburg, and apparently that gives this hotel owners' license to charge outrageous prices. At almost $600/night, including taxes, etc, which I was prepared to pay for a lovely experience, the stay was a huge disappointment. Eco-friendly country chic, the room was TINY (out in the country, for godssakes- this is not NYC) as was the bathroom, with its weird half-door shower that leaked all over the tiny floor. The website makes the claim that each room has pleasant views- our room, with its one small window and absurdly minuscule balcony, overlooked a parking lot- I kid you not! The shades were closed when we walked in the tiny room with no view, so one can imagine how disappointing that would be! I came to celebrate my daughter's birthday- which management knew. A small place like this, I would have expected a small token- maybe some chocolate, a bottle of wine? Also, though I didn't ask, and didn't know it was available, the valet guy never offered to charge my car for me. Just not good service. In short, hotel is pleasant enough, but falls way short from what is advertised, and what should be expected for the price. read more

Hip Eco-friendly hotel where modern updates meet sliding barn doors with leather straps for handles. The beds are like clouds. Amazingly friendly staff makes you feel like you're the only people they're hosting. They remembered our names and were happy to store our bikes when we showed up with them. Breakfast is included and it's equally as trendy with gluten free options and various egg dishes if you want them. Salt water pool and intimate garden/patio out back is a nice touch. We stayed five nights and it was our second time at H2H. The hotel is interesting and stylish, and in a good location too. But its attitude is a bit negative. Checking in on Friday afternoon, we requested an interior room overlooking the bamboo (which we liked last year). The staff member told us, briskly, that all those rooms were already checked in but another room was available that would suit. We went to the room and found it overlooked the garbage area of the restaurant and was nearly next to the street. It did not suit at all. We returned to the front desk and asked for a room change, five nights overlooking garbage with street noise not being what we had in mind. We were offered the room next to it. My wife made a comment that a five night stay deserved better, and was rewarded with a "please die" look. Hmmm. The interesting thing was that another couple joined us on Sunday night, and their room was upgraded to one with a big soaking tub. I understand that Friday nights are busy, but one possibility was to offer us an available room for Friday night and Saturday night, and upgrade us on Sunday. Clearly there was availability to do that. If you like eco-friendly hotels, this is definitely the place for you. If you like people-friendly hotels, you may want to look elsewhere. We loved our stay here!!! We stayed in an eco-suite. LOVED the plunge tub!! Bed was very comfortable. It was great to be essentially right down town. We parked across the street for free, but had to move our vehicle in the morning to avoid a ticket. Not a big deal since we wanted to head out to sight see. Staff was terrific. There was a little wine tasting when we checked in. That was a nice touch. The bar downstairs was really busy both nights that we were there. The noise didn't reach our room though. There are bikes to use, I don't know about cost. Others mentioned a free breakfast...our room didn't come with that. read more

Healdsburg is a super cute town and this hotel is clean and cute enough as well. The pool is dinky and room was fairly average for nearly $400 a night. We arrived in front of the hotel where signs indicated there was valet. No one was there (no prob as valets have to run about) and we started walking toward what we thought was an entrance past the restaurant area. There were multiple hotel employees that didn't acknowledge us. Finally someone in the restaurant area shouted to us that we were going the wrong way and the front desk was in there. Oh, it looks like a restaurant and a bunch of employees didn't acknowledge us. Ok, so we go to the desk and we're told to pay a $150 pet fee. I already hesitated to book based on the $90 pet fee listed on Hotel Tonight. I told the gal the price difference and she was very confused and didn't know what to do. So she said she would get back to us. We got our keys and had to ask where the elevators were; I'm used to hotels, restaurants etc pointing out where you're supposed to go but whatever. When we arrived at the room we heard my truck below our balcony and the valet was attempting to move it. We heard it because the valet was grinding the gears and stalling the truck with the e-brake on. He didn't know how to drive a manual. It was stressful hearing him potentially damaging my transmission and shouting to him to stop. We couldn't run down in time and he continued stalling, trying to drive despite the e-brake and audibly grinding gears until someone ran out and told him to stop. We go down and the front desk person is totally confused, didn't understand why we wanted to move the truck ourselves even though we explained it very simply, "The truck is a manual transmission and your valet cannot drive a manual. So we will need to move the truck." We moved it of course. They gave us a bottle of champagne which is a nice gesture. Again a bottle of champagne doesn't erase potentially damaging a person's engine like that. We were called early in the morning to move the truck. Breakfast was slow but I'm sure they don't have a lot of staff during this time so that's ok. Not being acknowledged by the many staff we did see was a fitting end to a stressful, unpleasant experience. At least it was only a $500 room with the $90 pet fee... read more

We have stayed here twice and had excellent experiences both times and will probably be back. I love the modern look and feel! The bed is very comfortable and the bathroom and bath amenities are great. One nice thing is the free filtered and sparkling water in every room (which can also be refilled in the hallway). Service is great- I called to ask for an additional makeup removing towelette (which they include with the bath products) and within 5 minutes someone came to our room and handed me 6 of them! A huge bonus is the Spoonbar and lounge area. It feels very vibrant and fun, and the food and cocktails are unique and tasty. Morning breakfasts are included and are very good (juices, teas, coffee, fresh bread, eggs, salmon, fruit...the list goes on.) During our last stay we ordered room service, which was brought to our room within 10 minutes (and there were no additional delivery frees.) We checked out a couple of the complementary bikes and got a map + route from the front desk. This was the highlight of our whole trip! We biked to the Dry Creek Winery for a tasting and the local market to pick up lunch. read more

First impression... clean, modern , Euro style. The hotel is the little sister to the higher end Healdsburg Hotel up the street 2 blocks. H2 seems geared to a younger, Euro style crowd. We got a room /spa one day package , and stayed an extra nite at standard rate. This was our 25th anniversary getaway. We did get a comp for 2 drinks in the bar, that was nice. The room was on the creek side, plenty quiet and nice view if we could have gone out to see it , it was cold and rainy most of the time. We had issues with the heat controls right away but the staff reacted promptly. As designer I appreciated the clean and fresh feel of the hotel in general, simple palette and honest materials thru out. I think for us the best thing was the bed, it was super plush with two pillow top cover layers and great pillows. I am sure the weather had something to do with it, but there were a lot of cold hard surfaces in the room and the all tile bath, making it a little uncomfortable. Besides the bed, nice features were dimmer controlled lighting, sparkling water on tap down the hall, a safe in the room, good TV with DVDs on loan, really nice soaps and bath accessories. The included breakfast featured good local coffee ,juice, cereal & yogurt,fresh fruit, bagels with lox, hard boiled egg and an assortment of good pastries. This can keep you going for a while. The restaurant SPOON seems like a good choice as well. I'd like to to return when the weather is better to take in all the amenities such as the pool and the use of the cool city bikes provided for free. Also must say we had a super "massage for two" experience at the HH spa and first class dining at the Dry Creek Inn there. I would recommend this Hotel and the spa at HH to make a Healdsburg stay really memorable and special. read more

I have stayed in several places around Healdsburg, including 2 hotels on the square. H2Hotel is a hidden gem -- although it isn't hidden! The bed was incredible. I almost canceled dinner reservations and ordered room service -- JUST to stay in the bed. Each room has a little balcony so you can sit and soak up some rays or cool off it it's hot on the street. The bathroom is awesome. The tub was deep, so you can really soak, relax and enjoy. Shower was interesting, it's just right there in the open bathroom...super neat. The rooms are minimalistic, but that's the whole vibe of the hotel. No waste, no frivolity, just basic. The best part? In the mini fridge are 2 glass bottles -- still water and bubble water. When you use it up, go to the water station on the floor and refill. No charge. My only issue was the room faced the railroad and the busy road behind. A bit noisy and there aren't any curtains, so the room lights up at 6 am. But hey, I just snuggled back into the bed and forgot about it read more

This place is an aloft hotel. Just in a much nicer part of town than most alofts. And incredible bed. Love how soft it is. The living roof on the fourth floor is really cool. They should tell everyone to check that out. But I do love this hotel. Incredible architecture - very open feel, which is perfect for California. Nice little pool in the back, too. Great location. I think that they need to add more bikes. I would be really angry if I planned on a bike ride mad didn't get a bike. Just not enough bikes. I'm not sure if spoonbar will make it. The food is actually good. And I love how the windows open to the street. The locals all say that the drinks are great. But they just don't like the food, which is dumb. read more

I had a great experience here. You don't have to drive anywhere -- we valeted our car and let it sit for 2 days until we left. Everything is very convenient. My husband loved the water bar (free sparkling & still water in every room). The continental breakfast was pretty standard. It is free and holds you over until lunch. The bed was comfy and the shower products were nice. The pool is clean and has comfortable loungers. If you are looking for a huge Vegas-esque hotel than this isn't for you, but if you want something smaller yet nice this is the right spot. I didn't eat at SpoonBar, but Scopa a few blocks away is amazing. read more

Very nice hotel but service needs to improve. Poor car valet system. Rooms were cool but beds were not comfortable. Breakfast was very poor, so much so that we went out for breakfast on our second morning, not very satisfactory when you are paying so much for your stay.. Our meal in the restaurant was perfect, great food. Drinks after dinner in the "receptobar" were awful. I had a cocktail that was made wrong, when I brought it back to the bar, the girl said yes she knew she had made it wrong and would try again, second one still wrong and was then told they had issues with their bar, very strange. The pool was very nice and the free bikes is a good idea. Upon checkout we were just handed our receipt, no "how was your stay?" We had to ask for an itemized bill, it was never offered. All in all, a cool hotel, with great design but need to improve service. read more

we spent two nights in healdsburg for our 5 year anniversary. this hotel was perfect. we loved the modern design and the hotel amenities - especially in light of the rate! upon our arrival they upgraded us to a king suite with an amazing bathroom. we used their complimentary bikes one day and went for a nice bike ride through the vineyards and through downtown healdsburg. the hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. i would definitely recommend this hotel for your healdsburg stay. read more

Love, Love, Love! I love this hotel. Beautiful modern design, rooms are lovely and spacious, high quality custom feeling decor and furniture, beautiful hardwood floors. Love our outdoor patio. Love the atmosphere, fun and hip vibe amongst amazing architecture of concrete, glass, and wood. I feel like it is prettier in person than how it looked on the website. One of my favorite things is the filtered water bars on each floor and in the lobby. I hate having to use plastic water bottles when I travel, they have solved this problem brilliantly. H2 has free high quality filtered water here that you can use glass water bottles to refill anytime you want, genius. I really appreciate all the eco-friendly aspects to this hotel, I feel right at home. The bed is super comfy and I love the coyuchi organic blanket. We had dinner at Spoonbar and it was delicious, they use a lot of organic and local food and also have organic wine options as well. The staff there was great and the awesome restaurant manager spent a lot of time talking to us about their wines which we really appreciated. The outdoor pool is pretty as well. I also love that they are pet friendly, we brought out dogs and they enjoyed it too. My only complaint if I had to come up with one is that there isn't much storage space in the bathroom, would love to have another shelf in there to put things on. I have an office in Windsor and this Healdsburg is just 15 minutes away. This is the perfect place. The rooms are simple and modern with just the right "touch." Breakfast is great and not just Continental style. I woke up early to get to work, before the breakfast had started, and the gentleman at the front desk made me the perfect cappuccino to get me by until the 6AM breakfast start. The package we were sold (with a restaurant credit) was a rip-off. We were told to use our credit we should charge our restaurant tab to our room... which conveniently meant that we didn't find out until checkout that they weren't allowing us to apply our credit to alcohol or tips. The desk staff told us that they'd leave the charges as pending and have the manager call us about our complaint that we were not informed about restrictions. A hotel that has it all, wrapped up in a beautifully designed, LEED certified package! The staff was exceptional, from the moment we arrived to our departure. We enjoyed the pool and the complimentary bikes...a must when in the wine country. However, make sure to check out Spoonbar before you take a ride! We were intrigued by all the uniquely crafted cocktails and ended up having more than expected. In fact, we came back that evening to try a few more concoctions! Highly recommended as is their sister hotel, Hotel Healdsburg, which we stayed at during our next visit. read more

This is a beautiful hotel. It is very modern and comfortable. From the decor to the shower and bathroom to the complementary breakfast, everything was fantastic and we did not have a bad thing to say about this place. Healdsburg is not that big to begin with but great proximity to downtown as it is a short walk from a lot of great restaurants, wineries/wine tasting stores, and dessert shops. I too liked all of the ammenites like filtered water dispenser on floors and lobby, bikes, beds, decor, pool, open area eating, heavenly shower, heart of town,.... so many to name!
