The business itself is beautiful, but the employees that work there are very rude. I used to get my hair washed and cut. I used to bring my sister, my best friend, and her daughters. I had one lady cut my hair and she actually had the nerve to interrupt my conversation I was having with my girlfriend, who was also getting her hair done, and started arguing with us about what we were talking about. Unbelievable. The last lady I had cut my hair could barely smile when I said hello and how are you. She did a fake 1/2 smile and made a hmmm sound. Beyond rude. Okay and this is the person cutting my hair. GREAT! We dont have to talk but have some decency, really. She made me feel like I was wasting her time. I mean is it that difficult to give a little customer service. I mean you do work in a customer service job. The lady shampooing my hair is wonderful and the valet guys are the nicest of all people at this salon! A lot of the front desk ladies are kind also! read more

This was my first time using the nail service and I was very disappointed. I paid $130 for a spa mani-pedi. I asked for rounded nails and they were cut square, the polish was not even and the technician spent the entire time talking about herself and her deceased friend. I stated that I wanted it lighter and to get rid of the yellow discoloration. She made me darker all around and gave me face framing highlights. My mother in law bought me a gift card which I called beforehand and made the appointment. The woman assure me the gift cards never expire- never asked for a number from the card to confirm anything. After receiving almost $200 in what I thought was a GIFT, I was told they 'couldn't find my name' and it 'must be in the old system'. Leaving me in tears, I paid close to $300 with tip out of pocket and left. Not to mention my nails are smudged and my toe is already chipped. That is surely no way 'to serve' anyone. I've always had an amazing experience here. Everyone that works there is incredibly nice and makes sure that you have a pleasant experience. I go there to get my hair done and I always leave relaxed and very pleased with my service. It is on the more expensive side but definitely worth the money for the quality and experience. Egle's card indicated she was an esthetician, but she was what has now been labeled a cerologist (waxing specialist) to me. Thinking of those early years when most American women were unlikely to discuss their desire to have a nectarine in most social circles. And social media was nonexistent (FB, Instagram and blogs). Sure, you could talk about electrolysis, bleaching, and laser treatment for unwanted peach fuzz in public areas, but not the other stuff. H2O has been long regarded as a premier full service salon and spa in the N.O. area and Egle was a perfect fit. My co worker has been telling me about her friend, Dana for months... Everyone always compliments on my co worker hair and I finally grew enough balls to change my hair color. I walk into the salon nervously thinking I can just get back in my car and drive away. I've been with my dark hair for so longgg now and everyone told me not to do. Dana is super friendly and I told her how blonde I wanted to be and only an inch off my hair. I just trust in her and her amazing skills. You definitely pay for what you get. What an experience! Today was my first ever visit to H20, and I'm definitely now a fan. I received a gift certificate from my sweet husband for Mother's Day and have been anxious to use it. Today was the day. I pulled into the parking lot and took advantage of the free valet service. I checked in at the front desk and my stylist, Chelsea, came to meet me within minutes. I asked around prior to my appointment and was told that Chelsea was fantastic. She was sweet, and really fun to talk with while she worked her magic. I explained that I was hoping she could give me some styling tips, and I was interested in color and highlights. She asked me how light I wanted to go and got to work. Once she had applied the foils, I took a seat on a comfy couch, she brought me a water and I waited for the color to develop. When time was up she brought me into a relaxing, dark, beautiful space with several washing stations. She removed the foils and washed my hair. Next, Crystal came by to give me a conditioning treatment. While the conditioner soaked into my locks, she wrapped my head in a hot towel, and placed another one around my neck. Aaaaahhhh. Heaven. She then gave me a neck massage. I was so relaxed I could have fallen asleep. Once my massage was over she rinsed my hair and I was brought back to Chelsea's station to be dried and styled. Chelsea was so kind to give me some great styling tips. My hair hasn't looked or felt this nice in years. I'm impressed with the entire experience. I've heard from lots of folks that this salon has changed the way they think about their hair and I now see what they've all meant. Today was my second time returning to H2O. On my first visit I got a simple cut & style from Ashley who did an amazing job communicating with my on how I wanted my hair to look. I took the jump & decided to try bangs. Ashley made me feel totally comfortable & did an amazing job. I returned today to get my bangs cut again. Ashley was not working so I decided to try a new hair stylist instead. The receptionist informed that Ashely was a level 1 stylist and that my stylist today, Becca, was a level 3 stylist so my prices would be a little higher than last time. No problem, I figured a level 3 meant she was more experienced so I didn't mind paying more & I appreciated being informed on the difference in price. I arrived to the salon about 10 mins early for my appointment. Becca was still working on her client before me so I had to wait about 10 mins. The staff was very courteous in making sure that my stylist knew I had arrived. Once Becca was finished with her client she brought me over to her station. I informed her I wanted my bangs cut & we agreed on a length. My hair was already clean & dry so she straightened my bangs before cutting them. I was a little disappointed when she finished cutting my bangs & different offer to style my hair. I love getting my hair styled at the salon because it always comes out looking way better than if I styled it at home. But its not big deal. I was extremely upset though when I got in my car after leaving & looked in the mirror to notice my bangs were uneven. I was shocked with it being such a nice salon & having a level 3 stylist that something as simple as bangs came out crooked. I love this salon so much so I will be returning but next time I'll make sure I go see Ashley only. If looking for bangs, I would suggest you ask for Ashley & not Becca UPDATE: the more I play with my bangs the worse they are. I have been going to H20 on the Northshore for over a year now. My stylist is Maycie M. She is incredible! I switched to H20 because the customer service is 100% better than my previous salon in Old Metairie. From the moment you walk in, the receptionist, Emily always greets me with a smile on her face and a smock in hand. I really enjoy the complimentary coffee and infused water, as well as individual pods of trail mix/chex mix they offer as snacks. The staff at this location is impeccable. They always listen to exactly what you are looking for in your finished product and always get it right. I expect that considering I am paying a toll to cross the Causeway & paying a pricey penny to get my hair done. Maycie never fails me. She is thorough and polite. She always educates me on something new with styling, products or just general hair education. I recently added tape in extensions to my hair to make my hair much fuller (she convinced me) and honestly I am so grateful she did. I have never received more compliments on my hair now than ever before! From the shampoo crew, front desk receptionist, color bar specialist, to my own stylists everyone at this location works together as a team and it is never an uncomfortable setting. I would recommend this salon to anyone if they are looking for accuracy and great service! read more

I am so disappointed with the service I've received here. I should start by saying that I've been a client at this salon for a few years. The atmosphere is off-putting from the moment you walk in. Honestly, the only people who ever smile at me at this place are the valet guys. Everyone acts as if you're inconveniencing them by being there. But I've put up with it because I had gift cards to spend. But after my last experience here, I will NEVER go back. I tried to make an appointment for highlights with the stylist I saw at my last appointment, but she was unavailable. The receptionist set me up with Apple, a stylist who she said was at the same level. Same level should equal same result, right? Nope. When I sat down, I told Apple that I wanted to do the exact same thing I did last time with a little more blonde mixed in. This salon puts all your information into a computer system, so they're supposed to know exactly what colors you received at your last appointment. I told Apple I get my hair done 2-3 times a year, so I like to keep my highlights very blended and natural. I don't want streaks or stripes. I've gotten my hair highlighted at least 20 times since I was a teenager, so I've learned exactly what to say to get the result I want. My appointment was at 12:15. Apple had only been working on my hair for about 15 minutes when another client came in. Apple kept going back and forth between us- it made me really uncomfortable. I know that many stylists will start on other clients while waiting for color to process, but this was ridiculous. This woman had an appointment scheduled 15 minutes after mine started. Who does that??? But the very worst thing about this experience was the result. I've attached the photos here. When it was blown dry and styled, it looked fine. Maybe a little too bright, but I figured it would fade a bit after the first few washes. When I got home to Baton Rouge and parted my hair normally, I was shocked. It got worse when I washed it. After using the same shampoo I've used on my highlights for several years, parts of it turned bright orange. The orange, yellow and white streaks made it even more obvious that the whole thing was a streaky mess. As you can see in the pictures, there are huge chunks of color, little tiny stripes and big pieces of hair that have no color at all. I have never done this, but I knew I would need to get this fixed, so I called for the manager and asked for a refund. She did offer to have my come back to the salon, but I live in Baton Rouge and was only in Metairie for the weekend. Plus- if this is what they think looks good, I really don't trust those people to touch my head again. So the manager agreed to refund my money. The entire amount was $152 and I tipped $25. I asked to put the tip on my card and the receptionist handed me cash. Since I paid $100 using a gift card, the manager put that amount back on a card. She has only refunded me for $52 because since they gave me cash, she can't prove that I actually tipped that amount. Honestly, it's not even worth it to me to argue. I just want to be done with this place. I ended up going to a salon in Baton Rouge and paying $250 to have it fixed. That result is also in a picture here. It looks a thousand times better, but my hair is fried from having so much done to it in one week. I've been growing it out for more than a year, but now I'll probably have to cut a few inches off because I have so much damage and breakage. Getting it fixed, plus all the deep conditioning, oils and products I've had to buy, has cost me more than $300. An expensive mistake on my part, I will not be returning to this place. I still have $100 on a gift card here- I guess I'll give it to someone to get a massage or something and hope they get treated a little better. read more

I went to H2O because I was desperate for a cut and color and several of the girls I went to school with highly recommended I give it a try. I had really high expectations based on the recommendations and their website and sadly, H2O didn't even come close to meeting those expectations. I arrived for my appointment early and was pleasantly surprised to find that they offered valet parking. Once inside, I went to check in at the front desk. There was a lot of confusion. At first they couldn't find my appointment, then they told me that the stylist I'd booked with was not on the schedule that day, then they told me they had me booked with someone else. I hadn't requested a particular stylist so it didn't matter much to me but the disorganization was a little disconcerting. I was then told that my stylist was still with another client so I would have to wait a bit. No problem, that happens sometimes. I went and changed into a smock and read a magazine while I was waiting. The whole time, two stylists are standing around the corner talking about personal stuff. How much you want to bet one of them was my stylist? Yep. After 15 minutes of personal conversation, she finally came to get me. My appointment was for 11, by then it was 11:30. We started with a quick consultation and I explained exactly what I wanted: all over color and a trim (I was in the process of growing my hair out). I made it very clear that I wanted my hair to be a rich, dark brown and that there should be as little red as possible. The color application was okay, though as she was working on my hair several other employees came to talk to her and she seemed more interested in talking with them than working on my hair. Once the color was set, I was sent to have my hair washed. This was by far the best part of my visit - the woman really took her time to wash out the color and she also gave me an AMAZING scalp and neck massage. If I had to rate that alone, the place would get a 5! Then it was time for the cut. I noticed right away that there was a lot more hair being cut than should be, at least for a trim. I mentioned this and the stylist got annoyed and said that she was "lightening it up" on the top. As my hair started to dry, I noticed a red tint to it and became even more concerned. When all was said and done, she'd cut 4 inches off my hair instead of the 1 inch I'd requested and my hair was dark brown... with a dark red undertone. It was definitely not what I'd asked for so I was upset. I went to the front and told the receptionist that I wanted to speak with a manager and that I needed to schedule an appointment for a color correction. The manager seemed friendly enough but she insisted on charging me for the full service fee when I was clearly not satisfied. She also told me that I would have to pay for the color correction. In my opinion, it's an either/or thing - either you pay for the original service, or you pay for the correction, not both! I wasn't happy but by this point I just wanted to get out of there. I changed out of my smock and went out to get my car only to realize that I'd dropped my valet ticket so I had to go back inside to get it. At this point, I overheard a conversation between my stylist and the manager about me. It was not a nice conversation and they were highly unprofessional and very rude. I was too upset to confront them, so I just asked the receptionist to cancel my color correction appointment and I left. I haven't been back since. The bottom line: for as much as they charge for salon services, they should get it right and treat you like a queen. There are plenty of places in the city where you can get great service for much cheaper - pass! read more

I know it's a little pricey, but I can't help it, I'm a loyal fan of H2O. I can't really speak for many other stylists here as I have been going to Rachel T. for several years now and she's really the only stylist who has ever colored my hair here. I only really need to touch up my color once every 3 months or so but I usually get a retouch color and a treatment when I go in. So the color ($80) + treatment ($35) + cleanse and style ($50) = $165 (not including tip). So...yes...it is pricey here...but the quality of services I have received here so far has been invaluable to my hair health. When I first started going to H2O my hair was recovering from a lot of damage I acquired from previous salons. I had hopped around from salon to salon and dyed my hair many times...I was blonde, I was brunette, I was red... hey, I was a college girl just trying to figure it out and experiment but I certainly had made some poor hair health decisions. As consequence to these poor decisions, I inevitably was forced to cut off all my hair so I could grow it back out again. I hated the process of growing it back out since short hair does not suite me well. However, through good products and the appropriate treatments, Rachel really brought my hair back to life! My hair was like a cinderella story just waiting for it's fairy godmother to work her magic. It's crazy for me to remember that there was a time before H2O when I actually hated my hair and honestly thought I would never have beautiful long hair again due to over processing and chemical damage....and now, I literally have complete strangers come up to me constantly and compliment me on my hair and ask me where I get it done. I've even had people take pictures of my hair and then go show it to their own stylist elsewhere but they could not emulate the color as well. To be noted here, I do dye my hair a unique shade of red (photo attached for reference), which as anyone who dyes their hair red knows, it is hard to keep that sort of color in longterm. But since I been going to H2O, even when my hair color inevitably fades a bit, it doesn't get brassy or turn into an unpleasant ruddy color like most reds do. It actually fades to a nice natural shade of red, which I'm sure is tribute to the quality products they use here. Any place that sells Kerastase HAS to be good am I right?! Also, I have very sensitive skin and the products and treatments they use here don't irritate my scalp at all. I have even had scalp irritation from other upscale quality salons like Paris Parker in the past so that is really saying something. To be noted here, there IS a price fluctuation depending on the stylist so even though I enclosed my personal pricing experience above, yours may be different depending on who you request or get assigned to. If you are mindful about a budget it would be wise to tell the receptionist when booking your appointment so she doesn't surprise you with someone who is out of your price range when you check out. I know some reviewers said they felt blind sighted by a change in their prices because they went to a different stylist at some point and then became unpleasantly surprised during the check out process. I also read that some reviewers felt H2O had a "snobby" feel to it. I can't say I feel the same or perhaps it just doesn't get to me if it does. Even though I always have the same stylist for my color, I have had many different girls shampoo my hair and perform the treatment on me and they have always been really friendly and welcoming. I think the front desk gets a little hectic at times and that might be the only place where I can see how some people might feel a little rushed or shorted on attention during the checking in and out process. But like I said, it doesn't get to me. I just want to get my smock on so I can have some complimentary coffee/tea or that lovely infused water they have in the back by the changing rooms! Many times there is a lady working the make-up area and if she isn't busy she will offer a complimentary make-up touch up. I love those little extra things....I guess that's why I keep coming back....well....that and the fact my hair is like cinderella and all now so I'm not sure anyone else could keep up with those high standards ;-) read more

The receptionist didn't offer me anything such as water or tea; I don't expect wine or anything. And, they made me pay before my service. For me, I thought this was odd, I guess it's because I was a new client. But thankfully, Holly my esthetician was sweet and natural. The spa rooms are a little small but, she was really talkative and wanted me to know what she was putting on my face and how it was going to help me. If you've been to Aveda for a facial, H20 is not as dreamy, they are more into solving you skin issues. On my second appointment, I went straight into my service. I was really excited because they had a special esthetician in town teaching and giving personalized skin recommendations. Holly actually called me a week before my appointment to tell me! If I could give it no stars, I would. I planned 6 months in advance for my sister's 50th birthday, for 4 people, and it was ruined. She was referred there by a co-worker, but was steered in the wrong direction. They called me 2 days before I was to fly in from California to tell me that they don't have a massage therapist on a Friday. Didn't even give me the courtesy to call me sooner so I could perhaps find another spa, now I'm scrambling. What kind of spa doesn't have massage therapist on a Friday?! We are beyond disappointed and FURIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes they offered other services, but they couldn't even fit me in for a mani & pedi because they were booked. Gift card to come back, NEVER. I really enjoyed my experience at this salon. I am new to town and have been looking for a great hair stylist. I asked for the best when I called and they sent me to Julie. What I liked about the initial call was the customer service. I was given the option to choose the level of stylist I was placed with, and given prices ($85 was the top price for a cut, which I feel I fair). I must say that I absolutely love my cut and style, and I will return. There were just a few things that bothered me. Everyone was really nice when I arrived, but I was a little thrown off when they rattled where to go to change, where to get drinks (I have to get my own =( ), and what to do when I came out of the changing room. It was a whirlwind. Julie did a great consult with me before sending me off to be washed. It was a little weird when the wash was over, as I was sent out to find Julie. Not a big deal, I paid attention to where she was... It was just weird to not be escorted over. I had a hair treatment and had to go get washed again... yada yada... but the girl who was supposed to do it wasn't available, so another girl did it. I loved that everyone worked together on getting me out of the salon in a reasonable time, but when it came to tipping I only tipped the main girl who washed and dried my hair, and Julie the stylist. I just didn't feel like tracking people down (plus I just like to leave my tip on the card and not the whole hand an envelope thing to the person. Anyhow, I had expressed interest in some of the products and when I checked out they were lined up. My expectation is that Julie or her assistant would go over the products and what was what, and tell me what I needed today (1. this is what I came to expect at my old salon... 2. I had already expressed that I have a ton of product already but could use something). I get that Julie was busy and that was ok. What I didn't expect was that the total went from $120 ($85 for the cut and $35 for the treatment) to $385 when the products were added to my bill! It was presented in a way that someone a little more timid might just feel obligated to purchase everything. I politely declined all but one of the products and paid my bill. The girl at check out who had been so friendly before seemed incredibly put off and annoyed, and mumbled smaller sizes were available. Really? Just talk to me and give me my options about the products like you did about the services. Anyhow, she didn't even hand me my bag of my one item; in fact, I walked out without it and luckily realized I didn't have it and had to go back in and ask for it. I left the salon feeling a little awkward and a little less excited about my entire experience. If I overlook this last bit (and the fact that it will be hard to find something comparable to my old salon in SLC ((Lunatic Fringe)) I would definitely recommend this place to a close friend. In the past, when my color faded, it usually turns a horrible brassy color, but since seeing Allison K, it doesn't happen anymore! Great salon but a bit on the pricey side, unless compared to upper end salons, in which case its average. Every time I get a haircut I say to myself "I gotta go to great clips" but then I remember all the lop sided haircuts I've gotten at $8 haircut places and I prebook again at H2O. Great place to people watch, or so I have been told. I'm married so I don't notice these things any longer. The place looks nice and I was excited to go, but after Stylist Megan cut my long bob and left me with almost no hair, I was devastated. If I would've wanted a man's cut, I would have gone elsewhere. I trusted this person with my hair and expected for her to do at least a better job than an apprentice. I can't believe how she can call herself an artist. Besides her poor judgement. My first time visiting this highly recommended salon. I absolutely loved the salon itself, it's very welcoming. In addition, the receptionists were wonderful. My stylist, Rebecca was fabulous. On my first visit, I had an all over color, haircut & an amazing conditioning treatment. This is definitely now my hair salon in New Orleans. Some say this salon is too pricey, I would not agree with that considering the level of service that I received. Sadly, I'm very disappointed in this place. Every time I have ever gone into the salon, no one greets me or acknowledges my presence. In fact, I'm given dirty looks or hard stares. The valet guys are probably the only friendly people there. But the reason for my bad review is for another reason altogether. My school is having a fundraiser. 90% of the businesses in old metairie happily donated something, whether a gift card or products. H2O flat out said no without explanation. Shame on you. This is for a SCHOOL. The least you could have done was donate a 5.00 gift card for products. By far, the rudest, snobbiest, HEARTLESS establishment. Today was the 2nd time I brought my son here to get a haircut. Paid 20 bucks+ tip and the girl didn't even offer a wash. We really didn't get much cut, just the tips so you would think we could at least get a shampoo. Staff isn't super friendly either. Will not be returning. read more

I will not go into the litany of reasons not to use this salon. I have been let down, cancelled the day before my wedding, then they spoke badly of me to other customers who were friends of mine... And let's face it, H2O is so snobby when compared to their sub-standard service. Makeup application terrible, most color that I saw looked awful. And the place is big and uninviting. Finally- I give it 2 stars, instead of 1, bc they sell (or used to) Kerastase, which is an excellent product. read more

I received a gift card for the Urban retreat spa package for Mother's Day and since I don't treat myself to anything since having kids I was more then excited to have a day at the Spa. When I called to schedule the appointment I informed the person that I had a gift card for the Urban Retreat so you can imagine my surprise when come check out time I was told that there was an up-charge because the person who did my facial was of a higher level so that would cost more! I never asked for somebody more experienced nor was I told it would cost more when I scheduled. In fact the facial was my least favorite part of the day! The women told me I needed to spend 15 or so extra dollars for some upgrade that removes bacteria and when I kindly told her I would just take whatever was included on the urban retreat package she seemed annoyed then went to work picking at my face washing it and moisturizing it (things I certainly could have done at home) the whole facial took no more then 15 minutes and was a disappointment. The spa forgot to provide me with lunch and I finally had to ask for it. Everybody seemed rushed and acted like I did not belong there. The person who blow dried my hair was amazing and gave me tips on curling my hair and the massage I got was fantastic!! Although I had a gift card I would never spend the 360 something for rushed unfriendly service! In the end they did take the surcharge off for the upgraded facial. read more
