God, these reviews are MEAN! I didn't meet the lady that folks are complaining about, but I met the co-owner and he was an alright guy. Super-friendly, but not to the point where it gets awkward, you know what I mean? I accidentally walked in before they were open and he chatted with me a bit as he finished setting up for the morning. The scramble was nothing fancy, but it was cooked just right. The eggs came out better than when I cook for myself. But here's the thing that made me want to write this review: best breakfast potatoes ever. They fried them *just right*, so the outside was subtly crispy without being a french-fry. I've never written a yelp review before, but I figured that if I was still thinking about those potatoes this many hours later, then they deserved a good review. read more

I made the trek out to Ha! on word from my friend that they make the best bloody marys, they do not. The bloody I had was high on spice but not on flavor, all in all it was mediocre. To top it off the waitress forgot to make/bring them but she did apologize for it. After the drinks we ordered food, I had the brioche French toast. The menu said that all items come with either potatoes or mixed greens and I asked for potatoes and was promptly told that the French toast didn't come with anything else, even though the sentence about the sides was right above that item (which was second most expensive on their menu). So since it came with nothing else, I ordered a side of eggs and chorizo. When my one piece of French toast came out (is there a singular for toast, piece of bread maybe) I got a side of eggs and that was that. I asked the waitress about it and she took my plate and brought back some chorizo next to the eggs, not cooked within them as it should've been. I was still trying to keep an open mind about the place until our check came. It had ALL the food items on it, but not the two drinks, which I thought may have just been omitted since the waitress admitted to forgetting about them. So I handed over my card and when the bill came back for me to sign it had $11 added to it. I asked the waitress why and she told me that she forgot to add the drinks to the check she brought me, so she just added the money to my card without telling me. I left her 0 tip since that was more than she deserved and left that place never to return. Learn from my mistake, never go to HA! You'll be laughing all the way to the bank. read more

I greatly debated whether I should write a review for Ha! because I almost hate to add to its publicity. It's still somewhat undiscovered. I kind of want it to stay that way, an oasis away from the long line at Paseo across the street, but at the same time I do want Ha! to get enough traction to stay open for my future visits. So I broke down and wrote this review. It's a very laid back bar where guys and girls can talk philosophy or local politics while a soccer match plays overhead. But here's the kicker: they serve really good gourmet food. I kid you not. It's a foodie haven masquerading as a laid back bar. It's Matthew McConaughey meets Martha Stewart. Fresh dungeness crab sandwiches with truffle fries, crazy good omelettes, fresh bread and perfectly tossed salads that would make a carnivore slap his mother, etc. It amazes me that a bar cares this much about its food. I took one star away only because bars are not my scene, but I'm willing to go back again and again just for the food (and that's saying a lot given how much I really do avoid bars). Please, Seattle, don't discover this place. OK, kind of discover it, but don't all go at the same time. read more

Been here twice now and the first time could've been a disaster but actually ended up very much impressing me. The first time I came here the poor owner was left on a Sat morning by himself. Apparently, his cook didn't show up :-(. The restaurant was pretty busy too but he remained incredibly assertive, friendly and I'm sure he was super stressed but didn't rush anyone and took incredibly good care of every single customer on his own. My water glass and coffee cup was always filled (even better than some restaurants that have lots of staff at the moment!). He even offered to personalize my scramble despite the fact that it would take more time to make. The food came out at an amazing pace regardless of his lack of staff. He also gave us free Bloody Marys for the "inconvenience" of being short staffed, but he did such an amazing job that we hardly noticed! The menu is a little small but everything I've had so far has tasted awesome. This second time around I ordered the chile relleno burrito and added bacon. It's a very generous portion and on the spicier side because of the peppers (I love spicy foods so this was just my style), it was incredibly tasty, and I think the bacon really complimented it. My friend got the biscuits and gravy which also tasted amazing. The portion was generous as well and it had a nice flavorful sausage gravy. Accidentally happened upon this place as I was about to cross the street to get breakfast. On a lark I went inside and was treated to some of the best Chilaquiles I've had. And I LOVE Chilaquiles. I had a pear/St. Germain mimosa that was also quite tasty. It's not fine dining and is not trying to be. Everything I had was very good tho. My husband and I had a late lunch here today after visiting the Book Larder next door for specialty cook book shopping. We enjoyed everything we ordered: spicy wings, PEI Clams (really fantastic), roast beet and arugula salad, the bulldog mamosa, the pear mamosa, and 2 habaneros blood mary's -- which tasted like what a proper blood mary should taste like. It's true that there was a woman there with such effusive and frequent laughter that it was jarring from time to time. We also agree that the name/branding is all wrong and probably not helping as they're a new business. However, we thought the ingredients and cooking quality was fantastic. We didn't see an indication that things weren't fresh. I wasn't the biggest fan of breading on the outside of the wings. My husband didn't notice it. I hope maybe it's a sign that they were oven baked, rather than fried, but it doesn't seem like Seattle has figured out that hot wings can be grilled so I doubt it. read more

I went to Ha! with a couple of friends for brunch. The restaurant had that ma and pa feeling. We placed our orders and patiently waited. We noticed that a group who was seated after us got their food before us - we were starving! We finally got our food and the server (who I think was actually the owner) explained the reason why our food took a little longer than expected: one of my friends ordered a steak, and they apparently ran out...so the owner went out and bought a steak just so she wasn't disappointed! read more

Love this place! We were almost desperate because we couldn't find any restaurant in Monday morning. All the breakfast spots I used to go are all closed on Monday. So we ended up in this restaurant. I was expecting maybe they have decent food here because the reviews are not above 4.5 stars. But turn out I was very impressed! The service is nice, the interior is cozy and cool, the music is good, most important, the food is awesome! They serve real food. We ordered two scramble and both are really good! You can taste the real savor of eggs. And I saw the server was squeezing oranges so I guess their orange juice must be also natural and fresh. I'd definitely come back. read more

I've been a Ha! regular since its "soft opening" a few months ago and have been loving it more and more every visit. I hope in a month there is still room for me at the bar. There was a menu change a month or so ago, due to staffing issues according to the server. There are some things I miss from the old menu (like the Reuben) but the food is better than ever and the menu seems to be much more focused and more consistent. The crab cakes are made from CRAB, not filler and are some of the best I've ever had. YUM!! And the Mac n Cheese might stop your heart but what a way to go!! As for the cocktails? There is no comparison between Ha!'s handmade margaritas with all fresh squeezed juice and that those cheep "sweet and sour with a splash of Tequila" margaritas you get else where. The drinks are Awesome!! And if you're not in the mood for a cocktail, there is a good choice of beer. The Bring It and the I'm No Angel" are awesome drinks and I had an apricot Manhattan the other day that made my head spin, WOW! It was good. I've never made a review in my life on yelp but I do really love this restaurant. It's a great local place that's warm and fun. If you're in Fremont you should try this place. I find it funny that the negative reviews that you find are mostly complaining about the owners laugh. The place is called HA! That tells me that it is a place to have fun. I'll see you there! Horrible customer service. Walked in, sat down, and received a menu, but no water. Sat there waiting for the waitress to take our order for over 10 minutes. Another couple came in and sat down next to us. The waitress immediately gave them water and quickly gave them coffee. Then she took their order while I continued to sit there for another 5 minutes. I finally just got up and we left. Mind you the bar was full and that's it. It was not packed. There was some guy in there too watching TV in the back and helping himself to the beer on tap at the bar. Definitely don't recommend this place! read more

Ha is a great small place for food & drink. The first time I walked in when they opened, I wondered what the name was about, within the first few minutes, I heard the owners infectious laugh, and I understood the name. Ha gets better every time, they have great food for any time of the day, and they make great drinks. (Bloody Mary Bar! Yes!) They are a little cramped in the bar area, but it is a very cool intimate atmosphere that's great if you're in a small group or if you want meet some of your fellow patrons. Ha! is a massive upgrade from Hunger (in both personality and style). Not having many under $10 food items on the menu will make it seem a bit on the spendy side for eating there regularly. However, the food is really good. It is value for your dollar in both quality and quantity. The prices are also on par with many of the restaurants in the area making it competitive. The selected beers on tap are good choices and not the norm. There is even a spigot for a superb hard cider. The Manhattan is dangerously delicious and a good bang for your buck. read more

I've been to Ha! three times. We were pleased the first two times with the food and service, but the last time was not that pleasant. It was a weekend night but it was not too crowded. It was very hard to get the attention of our server and the service overall was very slow. It looked like they did not have enough people both in the kitchen and serving. I had steak sandwich. By far the worst service I've experienced. We got there and were sat immediately. 20 minutes later we got water but that was it. Eventually we were able to order coffees which weren't refilled the rest of our meal. It took an hour to get our food and they weren't even busy. I'm sorry, but someone needs to go to margarita school. We tried the cadillac (chokingly tart) and the jalepeno cilantro (far too sweet and syrupy). Neither tasted anything like a margarita - no hint of tequila whatsoever. My guess is that Rose's lime juice and really cheap liquor is to blame. Nachos isn't typically a dish we order, but the people at the table next to us were immersed in theirs so we followed suit. And indeed they were very tasty, tho a little on the greasy side.
