I was a little turned away from ordering the gus with the fried chicken because of the price alone ($27 compared to the others which were $16-$19). You paid at the register and sat down with a number - the diner like seating was vibey. I loved that the garage opened to outdoor seating although your view was traffic and not the most comfortable seating. We ended up sitting inside and people watched the front and bar service area. We overheard in the kitchen they were running out for the day and how they had lots of leftover biscuits the day before but today they were bought out before closing. We went around noon on a Sunday. The biscuits did not dissapoint! Had a nice crust, soft on the inside and the jam/bacon combo is hard to beat. The Ché was a good sandwich but I my preference would be my friend's Willie Lee because it had way more jam flavor to it. Next time I go i'm eyeing the Varner.. Its a lot... im a big guy and a big eater and I could only eat half. The biscuit was great, and the gravy tasted a lot like Cracker Barrels sawmill gravy. We sat outside as there were already large parties occupying the inside table seating and the open bar top seating wouldn't fit us all. I haven't eaten many biscuits since moving to Seattle even though I grew up devouring them in the South. It's mostly because I find the large majority of biscuit places on the West Coast to be subpar - either dense and dry inside, or too similar to cake, like the baker substituted cake flour for good old fashioned White Lily. When I saw a bunch of people recommend Seattle Biscuit Company, I decided to give them a try. The first time I visited a biscuit place in the PNW a ton of people recommended, Pine State Biscuits in Portland for reference, I came out extremely disappointed. Hopefully this time would be different. I have to say, pricing is a bit ridiculous here. Just as a comparison point, the special fried chicken biscuit here is $27. The fried chicken biscuit at the place I grew up eating at is currently $5. The plain biscuit is $7 here vs. $1.29 there. Is it worth the price? I started out with a plain biscuit to judge their basic building block: Plain Biscuit ($7) - These are massive biscuits, around half a pound in weight, easily dwarfing the size of 90% of other biscuits. The smell wafting out of the paper wrapper smells heavenly with the aroma butter and flour. The taste reminds me of my childhood growing up in the South. It's distinctively buttery and salty, warm and comforting, almost spot on in taste as compared to say, Bojangles. A lot of places on the West Coast don't add enough salt or butter, making the biscuit taste unpleasantly alkaline. This one has no issues at all in the flavor department. The bake on the biscuit is fantastic, leaving the exterior with a crisp crust all around, while the inside still remains moist and fluffy. It's not particularly layered or flaky, and the interior, while fluffy, has a bit more developed gluten, making it just slightly chewy and slightly denser than perfection. When trying to split by hand, it doesn't split cleanly and instead chunks, especially in the center. Yet it's moist and doesn't crumble apart easily. These biscuits stand on their own and don't need any accompaniment to be enjoyed. Out of all the biscuits I've eaten on the West Coast so far (15+ places), this one tastes the most like a good Southern biscuit. (5/5) I was impressed enough with the biscuit that I revisited the week afterwards to try a sandwich: Gus ($27) - This sandwich seems very expensive until the plate comes out. In between the giant biscuit comes two pieces of fried chicken breast (or perhaps one piece filleted into two). It's breaded and fried generally well - the outside is definitely crisp, although it doesn't adhere that well to the chicken and slides off very readily. The interior of the chicken is nice. I usually expect chicken breast to be dry, but this one is relatively moist, not dried out at all. The breading tastes sweet and salty. I wonder if they brine the chicken in sweet tea. Each side of the biscuit is slathered with a bit of sweet mustard and peppered with pickle slices, giving some acidity to cut through the sausage gravy fat. Between the pickles and the sweet breading, it reminds me of the flavor of a Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich. The sandwich is served on a bed of orange-colored sausage gravy. It's thick and rich, although perhaps a little on the floury side. There's plenty of sausage mixed in, giving a ton of meaty depth combined with black pepper and spices. In terms of portion size, my wife and I shared this sandwich and we had trouble finishing it. It's definitely enough for two people, which makes the pricing a little more palatable. (5/5) Sweet Tea ($5) - This one is definitely on the sweeter side compared to what I make at home. The tea doesn't have much astringency but it does have a nice generic black tea flavor. There aren't that many places in Seattle to get sweet tea, so I'd say it's passable. I did purchase additional plain biscuits as well and I have to say texture-wise, they are similar, but these new ones tasted distinctively less buttery than before. I think there might be some consistency issues although this second batch is still really good. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the biscuits served at Seattle Biscuit Kitchen. I'm sad it took me this long to go try this amazing place because wow. I ordered the Gus and it was so much food! Well worth the price because it will feed two or one really hungry person. The size of the biscuit does not complement the other ingredients well. It's not fruity, half and half, or barely sweet. It is fresh-brewed with the perfect amount of sugar in it. I would dare to find anywhere else in Seattle that makes sweet tea the correct way. I had a tough choice with biscuits but I chose the Varner for the appeal of peach habanero jam. This jam was sweet and fascinating because it seemed like the peach flavor canceled out the heat of the habanero. The picture does not do the biscuit justice on how large the biscuits are. Throw in the andouille sausage, egg, and cheese and it equaled one of the best biscuits I've ever had! It is a very small place and if you are late, they may run out of biscuits. You order at the counter and seat yourself; despite it being a fast casual format, there is some level of service which I appreciated, from providing water and delivering napkins and utensils and extra plate for us to share. We got the Varner which was $15+tax, which is decent price for a sandwich given that it is large enough to feed 2 people. However, I have had this bookmarked for about a year and was shocked that I put off visiting this place until now when I had the opportunity to get the same exact thing for $11-12 back then. Still fine, but felt like the value isn't there anymore given the quality of the food. The biscuit is prepared decently but felt a bit dry. The egg was overcooked. The sausage had a bit of grainy texture (understandable if that is how they prepare but the common sausages don't have that texture). The jam is nicely sweet but does not compensate on the dryness of the biscuit. If it was the prices over a year ago, I would come back, but the food quality no longer scales with how much they are charging now. Even more pricey if you go with their supposedly signature Gus fried chicken biscuit sandwich which will set you back $25+. There's no metallic taste of leavening, it's neutral with whatever you eat it with but great alone (with jam, butter or honey). Surprisingly good nuked to soften it up the next day too. The GUS was what we ordered and it was HUGE definitely perfect to share very savory which was perfect for me. We also got the Sweetness...it is very sweet and it reminds me of donut holes and just what my bf wanted for a sweet treat. Perfect for anyone with a sweet tooth. The staff was so sweet and checked on us often. Definitely recommend to come back again. Space is small and intimate and very cute. Loved it! read more

You place your order at the counter, but then it is self service for coffee customization, utensils, water, table bussing, etc. Something to keep in mind when you're paying and see the tip prompt pop up. I like to think I know a little something about biscuits and grits since I lived in Memphis for four years so I was excited to try this place. It did not disappoint!!!! Buttery, MASSIVE biscuits loaded with whatever you please (fried chicken, jam, eggs and bacon, cheese, etc). Delta Grind grits were great. I ordered the Willie Lee (jam, beecher's cheese, bacon, egg) and it was incredible. Hit extra hard because I was a little hungover. Great service but it does get busy so be prepared. We went around 9 am on a Wednesday and it wasn't too busy but had a few customers after us so we didn't have to worry about the wait. There were a few parking stalls on the side of the building so that was convenient. The worker at the front was very helpful and friendly, and checked on us mid meal. Felt like a very welcoming and laid back place! The biscuit I got was the Willie Lee. Super delicious jam with melty cheese, egg, and bacon. A great salty/sweet combo.
