I hadn't realized that I had ordered takeout from this restaurant but I know this has been a long time bookmark for me as the food here looks absolutely divine. I finally had the pleasure of dining in as there was a concert nearby and this one of the only places that would be open afterwards. We arrived 40-ish minutes before they closed and it was still busy in the restaurant with bar full of patrons and half of the restaurant had tables filled. The restaurant itself was gorgeous as it was dim but they had hundreds of candles on shelves as well as lamps throughout the restaurant. There was booth seating, bar seating and more. My boyfriend and I arrived and waited a few minutes before we were seated and handed menus. Our waiter on Saturday (8/8) was not only professional but hilarious. We ordered a strawberry lemonade for the two of us, a Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger with bacon for him and I got their seafood gumbo entree and a side of their cheesy grits. We got our food and the portions here are huge. The food was immaculate. My boyfriend said this was probably one of the best fried chicken burgers he had ever had and that the bacon portion was more than any other place has given him. I was very happy with the gumbo and the cheesy grits were so good, it had a puree/whipped potatoes consistency which was delightful. The strawberry lemonade was tart and sweet with the right amount of strawberry flavor. Must try. Everything was delicious, the restaurant is very cute, and the they staff were all kind, helpful and attentive. We made a reservation, but realized it was happy hour which is only in the bar. The hostess was nice, and got us a table in the bar when we inquired. The downside, honestly, is the ridiculous menu!!! I always have a tough time picking what to eat, but where there are 100 options, it really stresses me out! lol the happy hour is also very extensive. This isn't probably an issue for the average person- look ahead if it is. We ordered oysters on HH (amazing deal!), fried green tomatoes (ehh), gumbo (very good), fries (good), and Brussels (not bad, but I didn't like the sauce). We also ordered wine and a Mexican mule. Toulouse Petit was absolutely delicious! I'm a huge fan of Creole food, so my husband and I had to stop by--and it did not disappoint. Everything we ordered was flavorful, well-seasoned, and perfectly prepared. We were genuinely impressed from start to finish. We also ordered the beignets, and they were some of the best we've had in a long time. They instantly reminded us of our trips to New Orleans and made us feel like we were right back there. Sigh...I'll preface this by saying I'm from Atlanta and was visiting Seattle for my birthday. I chose this place for my birthday dinner bc I liked that they had an extensive menu, cute decor and good reviews. We came about 30 mins early for reservation and the host was able to accommodate our early arrival. The restaurant is nice inside and has a unique vibe. When our waitress arrived, I informed her it was my birthday and overall her energy was just dry throughout our service. Not that I was expecting her to give me a cake but a smile would have went a long way. I ordered one of their margaritas and it was meh, overall I just didn't have a good cocktail anywhere we dined in Seattle. I ordered one of their king salmon dishes that was "creole style" but severely lacked seasoning. My boo ordered the steak, which also lacked salt and was served with boxed mash potatoes, which they should be ashamed for at this price point. I also had 4 oysters as an appetizer and they were so small! I was expecting more from the seafood as it seems to be what Seattle is known for. I was greeted by my server with a very stern cold expression and she made no suggestions even after I mentioned it was my first visit. Her response, "the kitchen is closing in 45 mins." I was rushed and made to feel like a nuisance by her. This being my initial experience, it left a very distasteful first impression. She tried to clean it up 10 mins afterwards when I placed a to-go order and said "let me order that now as the kitchen is closing." Came here for dinner on a trip during vday weekend and was pleasantly surprised by the whole dining experience. Restaurant is just so vibey, with real candles lit throughout the whole space. Plenty of seating, gorgeous large windows and high ceilings, it really does make me feel like I'm in NOLA. We ordered a couple of dishes: clam dip, fried green tomatoes with crab, lamb leg, and their shrimp grits. Overall, most dishes were very good: the clam dip reminded me of a clam chowder dip, I really enjoyed the fried green tomatoes with crab, and the lamb leg was one of the best cuts of lamb I ever had. As someone who doesn't typically enjoy lamb, this tasted like a perfectly medium rare cut of steak without the gamey flavor. I was a bit disappointed with the shrimp grits dish as this was recommended to me by the server I was told that the crawfish would be fresh, but it was clearly frozen and shriveled. It was also on the spicier side which wasn't aware, so that was the only thing that I couldn't finish. They also gave us beignets on the house which I appreciated, but they were a bit deflated and stale. Service was not bad, but definitely a bit slower that night understandably so due to the crowd. Overall just a couple of misses in the dishes, but know next time to get their meats which is what they excel at. Will still definitely come back again if I am ever in town. read more

Came here to celebrate a birthday + anniversary brunch and made sure to note it in our reservation (and even received a follow-up email confirming the occasion). We had dined here years ago and had great food and service, so we were genuinely excited to come back. Unfortunately, the service this time really missed the mark. From the start, the vibes felt off. Our server brought us to the table but didn't know what mimosa flavors were available -- not a huge deal, but it set the tone. After that, we found ourselves consistently waiting while tables seated after us were attended to first. We waited to place our order, waited to order beignets (my husband eventually flagged her down), and later waited so long for the check and to-go boxes that we had to ask another staff member walking by -- who then redirected our server to us. For a birthday + anniversary brunch, that kind of inattentiveness definitely dampened the mood. And while we don't expect fireworks, a simple acknowledgment of the occasion would have gone a long way -- especially since it was clearly noted on the reservation. Now, the food? Delicious. The Shrimp and Grits (served in a small skillet with four large shrimp and scrambled eggs) was absolutely fantastic -- no notes. Rich, flavorful, perfectly cooked. The Spicy Creole Andouille Hash was also very good, but the shrimp and grits stole the show for me. Portions were solid, and the beignets with dipping sauce were a perfect sweet finish. We always head to Toulouse when going to Climate Pledge. It is getting harder to walk in so be sure to make reservations. There were 4 of us on our reservation. We showed up on time during a not so busy time. It was unfortunate as our server didn't seem to be very helpful or welcoming. During the holidays it is a mandatory 20% tip for every table. Not that I would have been stingy with a tip but I didn't feel like it was earned. We spent $400 for 4 people. Ordering drinks, apps, dinner and dessert. The food was great as always but we always go for the beignets. The atmosphere is fun. Somewhat dark with over 250 lit candles. We will go back but it won't be on our immediate list anymore. We made reservations for 10:00 am on a Friday morning through Open Table and got seated immediately. The staff were friendly and checked up on our table frequently to make sure we were okay. The food came out in a timely manner and it was absolutely delicious. Their weekday brunch happy hour (Monday to Friday from 10 am to 12 pm) prices are reasonable and their regular menu is vast. Certain dishes are exempted from their happy hour menu so I recommend you ask your server in advance. Parking can be difficult in this area so I recommend coming early to find street parking or get dropped off. We ordered the Pan Seared Sea Scallop Coins and Braised Bacon with a Cream Corn and Basil Humita, Seafood Gumbo, Acadiana Benedict and the Beignets with Chicory Anglaise. Pan Seared Sea Scallop: If you try everything together, it creates the perfect bite with a range of flavors and textures. The scallops were cooked perfectly and paired well with the salty bacon and crunch from the slightly sweet cream corn. Seafood Gumbo: It was a little on the saltier side, but each protein was cooked just right and I finished the entire bowl. If you add a little hot sauce to it, it adds an extra kick of flavor. Acadiana Benedict: It was by far the best Benedict we have ever had. They take the base of a classic Benedict and add a creole take to it. You get fresh chunks of Dungeness crab, shrimp, and andouille, perfectly poached eggs and a flavorful creole hollandaise. The dish itself is a little salty, but it comes with breakfast potatoes and both together balances the flavors. Beignets: The dessert beignets come with 5 pieces and a chicory anglaise (a coffee flavored dipping sauce). The beignets came out hot, crispy on the outside, and light and fluffy on the inside. When I first moved to Seattle, Toulouse Petit was a nice place to get decent cajun food. Since then, I feel like the prices have gotten drastically higher while being fine cajun food at best. The ambience is still neat, service is still good, but it's just not worth the value proposition when there are better alternatives out there having explored Seattle a bit more. On top of that, the few times I've been since, they've had issues with their health inspections and at that price point it's just not worth the trouble. read more

Went at lunch for Seattle Restaurant Week. They offered a nice variety of dishes for either $20 or $35. It included 2 courses. Salad or soup and a main course. Dessert was basically a bite/ taste size for an additional $5. Good: True Cajun/Creole seasoning. The roux flavor was deep and you can tell that it was simmered for a long time. You can see the spices in my pictures. The food took a while to come out but it came piping hot! The Fried Chicken Gumbo is almost a meal. Chicken was juicy and crunchy. I wish they had a fried chicken option on the SRW menu. Shrimps were plentiful and large. Meh: The French Onion soup was a little too sweet for me. Lots of onion though. If you are sharing plates, everything starts to taste similar. We had gumbo, jambalaya and Creole Lucy (shrimp n grits). Beignets were disappointing. Too dense and almost flat like a pop tart. Oh my goodness! What a gem of a place so close to so many different attractions! My friend and I came here last night before seeing Lord Huron at Climate Pledge Arena. First, this is within easy walking distance to the Seattle Center. Secondly, we got in without a reservation and let us choose between the bar or seating in the dining area and we chose the dining area. They gave us a giant drink menu which can easily take hours to get through. It was amazing to see all the options. The food menu was superb with amazing southern, Cajun and creole staples. Our waitress was incredibly kind, informative and quick. The ambience inside and out was a mix between gothic architecture and a romantic ambiance. We ordered 6 raw oysters, a cup of the seafood gumbo, lobster roll, rockfish tacos, curned pork cheeks confit with apple mustarda and crostini. Everything was impeccable and so flavorful. I'm a Cajun woman and that gumbo was something out of this world! For dessert, we got the beignets with espresso dipping sauce and my friend got the banana pie. Delicious!! As a West Seattleite, I finally made my way off the rock, over the bridge and into Queen Anne for a little taste of New Orleans. She didn't disappoint. From the impeccable service, the beautiful decor and the big easy vibes, I was all in the second I walked in. I started with a specialty cocktail (Katie Mae) and my husband ordered High King high ball drink. We split an app of 4 raw oysters (I know it's not season but damn they were good!). For brunch my husband ordered BBQ shrimp and grits and I ordered the po'boy shrimp sandwich. Both were excellent. However, full disclosure, I recently had oral surgery so the beautiful baguette and greens were not the best choice for me and that's on me. We will definitely be back. The food was good but it felt a bit disjointed - like they were a Cajun creole place that also had to have all the other stuff too. Additionally, I think there were quite a few seafood dishes with sausage in them, which kinda threw me off as a pescatarian, but that's more a personal thing. For Mother's Day I wasn't feeling well. My son wanted to get a great take out dinner since we couldn't go out to eat. From salad, soup, and entrees it was absolutely horrible. The salad was filled with onions not a snap pea to be found in it as described. The French onion had maybe two pieces of cheese floating in the oily broth. The steak was a terrible cut, filled with giant globs of fat. The worst however was my husband's fish and chips. The breading was burnt, the fish raw, and the inside batter raw. We had a miserable meal. I would have went in for a refund if I wasn't so sad about how everyone's meal was abysmal and I felt better. Accidents happen, but when every item was inedible, there is more going on than just a bad day for the chef. Spending so much for something that went into the compost bin was not how I planned on spending my Mother's Day. Do better, in this day and age where prices are sky high at least do the bare minimum for your customers and serve them a decent if not great meal. read more

Spectacular ambience! Loved the classy and warm French Cajun theme. Service by Tea was exceptional - so friendly and helpful. Both the cocktail and the food menus are extensive. Frankly, there's so many fantastic options, it's overwhelming. An entire page of martini options! I tried the Ford and it was fine but way too much orange flavor for me and I love orange. The red wine by the glass from Bordeaux was very nice. Our food was so delicious! We started with the fried oyster salad and the fried green tomatoes with crab starter. Both were perfectly prepared. For entrées, we had the scallops risotto and the line caught blackened rockfish with crawfish sauce and grits. I highly recommend both. The blackened rockfish was perfectly cooked and tender unlike the tough blackened white fish I had the night before at RockCreek. For dessert we had the banana cream pie with Chantilly cream. One of my favorites and this was probably the best I can ever remember. The only negatives were the mandatory credit card fee (2.7%) and the 5% living wage charge on the bill. Personally, I believe restaurants need to either pay their people what they're worth or increase their prices instead of putting a charge like that on the bill. And for a restaurant of this caliber to charge a credit card fee is ridiculous I think. I can't imagine anyone is carrying that much cash around. A Queen Anne classic that still has the flavors, if not the hype. It's been a long time since I've visited this spot. Twenty years ago, this was the place to be--the ultimate date night destination with lines out the door even on weekdays. Today, it's much quieter, and the decor is definitely showing its age, but the soul of the kitchen is still there. The service has always been a bit "indifferent" (both then and now), and the menu is still a massive, disorganized wall of text--definitely look at the menu online before you go! However, good Creole/Southern food is hard to find in Seattle, and they still nail it: * French Toast: Thick, custardy, and perfectly executed. * Oyster Po'Boy: Not exactly "classic" style, but the oysters were fried to perfection--crispy outside, juicy inside. * Shrimp & Grits: The standout. The shrimp were incredibly snappy and the seasoning was spot on. It's bittersweet to see Queen Anne a bit quieter than it used to be, but I'm glad this place is still standing. Lovely establishment with an interesting take on Cajun cuisine. As a Cajun woman, from a family of generations of Cajun folks I know Cajun food very well. And this place over uses the cayenne like nobodies business. If the spice masks the flavor, you've gone too far! We had the Creole Lucy, which is their take on shrimp and grits, and a shrimp pasta for mains. Both were way over spiced. (And cayenne or spice level was not mentioned next to either dish in the very extensive menu. To say I was surprised at the spice level would be an understatement. It nearly blew my head off!) The fried green tomatos with crab was excellent! Probably my fave of the night. As it was our anniversary, they presented us their version of a beignet, a flat fried dough chunk with powdered sugar vs the usual puffy lightness of a traditional beignet, and we ordered a bread pudding as well. The service was really slow. Once we were seated, it took our serve 20+ minutes to come over and take our drink order. Then our appetizers, salad and Main all came out at the same time. Not the best pacing for a fine dining meal. It was also very VERY loud in the restaurant with the music. We sat on the same side of the booth and I still caught myself leaning in to try to hear my partner. All in all, I enjoyed most of my meal, and with some tweaks this place could be even better. Once seated, our server was overall pretty attentive, and the food was tasty. The croque madame has kind of a bitter mustard flavor that I wasn't expecting, but overall decent. We did receive one incorrect order at our table of 6, but they took that off the bill so we weren't too disappointed. I walked in on a Friday afternoon soaking wet. The place was relatively empty. I was worried I would need a reservation but I didn't. I was quickly seated. Ordered a short and spicy margarita (fantastic!) and the Toulouse Seafood gumbo, I opted to add the scallops and Dungeness crab. Holy moly. Life changing. All kinds of flavors. The perfect dish for a cold rainy day. Very generous serving. Wonderful ambience, attentive staff. Now I know why this place was recommended as a must try. We've always loved coming to Toulouse, which is why this was so disappointing. I brought friends who were visiting, and while splitting the bill we noticed the math didn't add up. The itemized charges totaled $215, but we were charged $231. There was an extra charge for $16 completely hidden. There was no line item for gratuity or any other fee, and we were only a party of 4 (their gratuity policy is for parties of 5+). If there's an extra charge, it should be clearly itemized and explained. This makes me wonder if I've been overcharged on past visits and simply never noticed because I trusted the final total.
