Came here on a whim. It wasn't planned. Literally just walked past this place while visiting La Bufadora. On the way back, I decided I wanted to pet animals since I was buzzed. Lol. We didn't eat here. But it was I believe $50 in total for my son & I from what I can remember to pet animals. I wanted to play w/ one of the other animals but the guy said it would be too playful & big for my 2yr old toddler. So we went w/ the smallest cub. They made us sanitize our hands prior to going in. You're not able to take pics while outside of the cage. But once you go in you had a few minutes to record & take pics w/ the animals. The cub was playful w/ my son. Even bit him on the hand in one of my videos. Although I don't believe it was that hard since my son didn't cry. He just noticeably pulled his hand back. That didn't stop him from playing w/ them tho. Service from the workers were 3/5 stars. They seemed over it & didn't really care for it. When the cub bit my son, the guy just didn't even acknowledge it & pretty much played it off. He kept repeating himself which got a little annoying. Not to mention they kept pressuring us for tips. Well now that's off my bucket list, I don't think I'd be doing this again. Lol. read more

AMAZING TEMPURA TACOS AND BACON STUFFED SHRIMP! AMAZING VIEW, WITH THE MIST FRIENDLY WAITERS! Okay, the staff upstairs is everything. When we came in through the bottom where the little petting zoo thing is, they were very rude. I get it, they want people to pay 50/60 USD to play with the baby tigers. We passed it, and went upstairs where the real hospitality was at! They didn't disappoint! Food: 5/5! One of the best meals we had in Mexico! The chili was amazing, the tacos were to die for, and the shrimp with Marlin was omg FIRE!!!!! I've never tasted something like that in all my life. The food is just amazing in Mexico! Nothing like it for sure! Service:5/5 They treated Us like family, and that is so appreciated! They were soooo nice, fast, didn't feel rushed, and truly went out of their way to make sure we were happy! Lord, can intake this whole restaurant home with me?! From the outside the place looks good, but once in, the chips and salsa right away tell you the nightmare that await you. The server was decent but seem clumsy, after about ten to fifteen minutes. He came and I bought two very pricy Margaritas. $15 dollars plus and we order 3 fish tacos. When the drinks finally came after a longer wait. The drinks looked fancy but were average. The fish tacos were just out right nasty. They not seem to be well cooked and after a single bite, the taste was more than dispicable. I would not ever set foot in such a place. read more

We thought we were going to be playing with young cubs. The tigers looked young, but young enough to be small adults. We didn't not even last 2 minutes in the room with them, they were just too aggressively playful. The worker inside the room with us kept encouraging us to play and pet them, but the tigers were just too "playfully biting" us... to the point where i did not feel safe. Unfortunately we didn't try the food upstairs my brothers main reason to stop by was so we could play with the tigers, lions or jaguars. Which we did the animals were very active, Unfortunately they told us that the older orange tiger was starting to become to aggressive so we couldn't go in so we opt for the white Tiger and black baby Jaguar. The trainers were very knowledgeable about the animals and at no time did we feel unsafe. When we were done we were able to do some tequila taste tasting they had available right next the bar. read more

I wanted it so bad but couldn't see myself pY $65 for a bottle. I don't drink like that. My cousin bought two different tequilas for $100 tho. They have rescue lions there, Cubs. Different kinds. I know a lot of people are against it, but I couldn't help myself! I was able to pet and play with two cubs, 1 month old!! It was such an amazing experience! They also have a slide from upstairs that u can take down. The restrooms were upstairs and I took the slide down after lol loved it! May b a liability for people that he hammered tho! Lol If you're a customer then u can use the restroom for free. Otherwise, $0.50 to use it. That's how it is in Mexico. Don't put paper in the toilets!! Septic tanks is all they have. Don't go there. The meal was fine, drinks were huge. But the 20% fee added to use a credit card was ridiculous and of course you don't find that out until you get to the table. That 20% added does not include the gratuity, so we tip 20% so you have to add 40%. The worst part was after the meal, when you go downstairs under the restaurant. They have a place where you can pay to hold wild baby animals. The animals are abused and locked up for the purpose of making money. I did my research and this is an awful place. Truly sad. Of course they say the money goes to help the animals. But it's not true. Do not get trapped, they have 4 employees, whose main job is to drag you inside. Food is average, price is above average and overall experience will be below average. This place is like a show business, food is also available. The have exotic animals caged and sedated, they have adult Panther, leopard, lion cub and more, clearly drugged living in gruesome conditions. Food, we ordered the following Veggies Sampler, Whole Cuban Fish, Enchilada, Fish Tacos, Fajitas, Pizzadilla (Pizza + Quesadilla). Everything was just ok, nothing wrong but at the same time nothing was impressive too. Margarita was too light. Kids had fun, in their slide area. This is the 2nd time my boyfriend and I came here. I love coming here and playing with the little cubs. We got to hold and take pics with the baby lion cub who was super active. I really wanted to hold the white tiger cub but the worker said that one did not like to be held. They were rolling around and playing with a giant dog rope toy. Such cuties! I paid $60 for two people to go in and take a bunch of pics. We were able to sample some fruity tequilas before coming in for free. Our cruise shore excursion stopped here to see the Blow Hole. While here, we decided to try some tacos. We had an order of Shrimp Tacos and an order of Fish Tacos. Both were good as was the rustic chips and salsa. There are many street vendors selling tacos here as well. And their tacos looked even better. During a small guided tour to go ziplining, our guide suggested we make a pit stop in La Bufadora for lunch. We had a little time to kill after we finished eating so we decided to walk down the street market towards the Blow Hole. We stumbled upon Habana Banana and I was immediately drawn to the bar counter where instead of bar stools, there were swings with vines wrapped around the ropes. It was adorable and totally fit the Mexican Cantina vibe. Once inside, I realized that it was much larger than I expected and it was actually a very interesting place. Inside hosts a bar, a gift store, tequila tasting and a care center for rescued baby felines. Felines as in jaguars, cougars, lions and tigers! After some questions I learned that there are veterinarians on staff 24/7 and most of these babies come from neglect, circuses, abusive situations and families who realize that they can't have a lion as a domesticated pet cat (DUH!). You can pay $25 to go in and play with the cubs and the money goes towards their care, or you can simply watch them through the glass from the outside. The tequila tasting is great. I tried many different types and ended up purchasing a bottle of Quita Penas, which is not available here in the United States. To date, it is the only tequila I have ever tasted that I can drink straight without so much as a wince. It tastes like a margarita all on its own! While Habana Banana is definitely a bit of a tourist trap, it's fun and lively. If you are in the area I'd recommend stopping by! Animals and tequila sounds like a great day to me! read more

Went and visited Ensenada and was told to go to La Bufadora which was amazing and totally fun. A few of the girls on our trip wanted to see the tigers... I was horrified when I walked in and saw them in tiny cages smaller than my master bedroom. Two tigers were heavily sedated and couldn't even keep their eyes open. I believe one of the workers was trying to arouse them with a round sharp hook and the tiger could barely raise its paw. The blue macaw and parrot had plucked all their feathers out (sign of stress) and were in a room the size of a bathroom. Their was a small baby tiger that was being man handled and even was picked up by the neck by some tourists. I say avoid at all costs! read more

Our brief stop at Habana Banana wasn't what I expected. But- I'm glad it's what I was really looking for (even though I didn't have to look that hard to get it.) Let me explain.... Habana Banana is the biggest restaurant/ establishment along the row/ aisle of mercados (stores) leading up to La Bufadora in Ensenada. Ensenada was one of the ports our Carnival Cruise ship stopped at- & I figured all the times we came to Ensenada- we just never ventured to La Bufadora. But! A friend of ours posted a collage on his IG account & in that collage was a picture of him & what I thought was a taxidermy mountain lion. I inquired about it & he said it's at La Bufadora. That was it. He couldn't give specifics. Now- mind you- this was really the main reason why I booked the La Bufadora excursion because I WANTED TO TAKE PICTURES WITH AN EXOTIC ANIMAL! Funny thing is- I didn't go and ask anyone (not the tour guide or other vendors). With less than 30 minutes to spare before returning back on the bus- I told hubby that I needed to use the restroom. And Habana Banana looked like the place to do so because it was very clean, well lit, & there's a bar. So, we did sit at the bar & ordered a cold one each. The bartender was very nice & there's plenty of specialty drinks listed on the wall written in colorful chalk markers. Although we sat at the very end of the bar- closest to the aisle of the mercados- I caught something in the peripheral of my left eye. I actually got up from my bar stool- and there they were. The exotic animals! I shrieked! There are 3 enclosures. The first one was empty. The second one had a baby white tiger pup. Cutest thing ever! But, there was already a couple inside w/ the handler posing & playing w/ it. For $25 2 people can hang out w/ the pups. Then there was Zambia. A black panther 6 months old. $35 for 2 people to play & pose. Habana Banana is partnered w/ the local zoos to help nurture the animals who've been abandoned by their mothers. This is according to Zambia's handler. Guests can use their cameras fort he videos/ photos. You are given plenty of hand sanitizer & are even sprayed w/ Lysol prior to entering the enclosure. Yes, I even used the restroom upstairs. There's even a slide you can even take if you don't want to actually take the stairs to get back to the bar on the street level. read more

I did enjoy the restaurant upstairs. The men's restroom is minuscule and doesn't have separated urinals. I chose a seat right above the bar near the window and enjoyed the wonderful service and food with the current girlfriend. After our meals we took a short walk to La Bufadora. It was tough to get a good view, considering all the people that were trying to get the same glance at the water show. read more

My sister and I stopped in for 2 drinks and chips and guacamole while on a cruise ship excursion. The service was terrible! There were only 2 other tables of people so I'm not sure why the service was so slow and poor. After 15-20 minutes they finally acknowledged us and we ordered. A friend of ours who had been here before said she really liked this quirky place. You'll find swings instead of bar stools at the bar. The opportunity to pet and feed lions, tigers and bears (oh my!). Well maybe not bears. You can even exit the restaurant on a slide! Great views too! If you like crowds of people and pushy vendors trying to sell you stuff you really don't need then visiting La Bufadora is a must! Regardless, if you want to get to this restaurant you'll need to navigate your way thru all of that to get to this door. The restaurant has a whacky fun look to it. Lots of photo opportunities with human-sized plastic jungle animals. Inside the downstairs of the restaurant are also (commissioned?) wanderers trying to get you to down a free tequila shot in order to sell you a bottle of tequila. We finally got upstairs and got a seat with an excellent view although not of the blowhole. The seating is plastic patio furniture and all of the tables and chairs looked like they could use a real good scrubbing. Staff was attentive. Both English and Spanish menus are available. Because we had our eyes on some nearby fish tacos, we ordered and split the special nachos. I had an ice cold beer. Good arrived pretty quickly but the cheese sauce ranged from lukewarm to cold. Other than the dozen sprinkled pickled jalapeno slices the food was not spicy at all. Definitely a tourist spot with higher prices than normal. But if you're looking for the goofy and kitchy sort of place this is for you. Personally I'm not into huge crowds and pushy vendors so my rating reflects that. We were unsure if we should spend the money, but we have 3 kids who are 3, 5 and 12 that love animal, so we end up paying $80 for us to get in. I guess it's pricey for a 7 mins photo ops and pet these cubs but it's once in a lifetime so... the cubs were very very pretty, and they were very playful, not like these comments on yelp. They look very clean with no wound as other comments. I don't believe they were drugged or anything. It was scary since the white tiger was a little grouchy, but we enjoyed the experience though. Paid $40 to take a tour of La Bufadora. The tour guide told us about this place. My boyfriend and I decided to stop by and give it a try. Pros: Fun photos. Cons: Everything is over priced. The lions and tigers are not in a sanctuary like the tour guide and worker said. The lion and tiger were covered open wounds, heavily sedated, and miserable. The animals made it clear that they didn't like the worker that helped us out. They were more comfortable with my boyfriend and I than the worker (the person who feeds/shelter them). So that said a lot. The whole set up was weird. It cost $25 for 7 mins to take a photo with the 1 month old lion/tiger but $35 for 2 people for 7 minutes . Before entering the room to play with the animals, The workers give you hand sanitizer and then sprays only your T-shirt with Lysol disinfecting spray. I'm not exactly sure the Lysol's purpose but we went along with it After "playing" with the lions and tigers. We were able to do a free tequila testing. It was rushed but it was free tequila so why not. Sure enough, we were bamboozled into buying 2 bottles of tequila for $100 and a $10 tip. Once we spent $120 we were told that we can get a free margarita upstairs for our purchase. So we go upstairs to go get our margarita (which is served in a shot glass). I couldn't help but noticed a fly the size of my thumb nail in the glass! I tell the bartender and he dumps the drink out and makes it again in the same glass. We are finally back home and decided to give the $120 bottle of tequila a taste. It was a hassle getting the bottle open. We had to use pliers. Sure enough once we open the bottles of tequila, we realize that we got sold syrup and not tequila. Save your money. The Instagram picture isn't worth it. Instead of leaving with good memories. It's a restaurant/bar and wife life reserve because they rescue lion cubs and other big cats from the circus. If you wanna take a picture of these cats,you must pay. I've read lots of reviews about how they don't take care of these animals and the animals looked drugged well NOT when me and my family were there. Do. Not. Go. Here. I went to this establishment when my cruise ship came into port in Ensenada. Initially, my ship was not slated to stop here, but due to hurricane Bud, we were unable to go to our slated destination. We got into a little 10-12 person van and drove out to the shopping strip with a blow hole. I was with both of my parents and my younger brother and we believed our tour guide when he told us to stop at Havana Banana. He told us there were baby lions and tigers and as a 17 year old, nothing sounds like as much fun as cuddling a lion cub. I regret this decision. When you go in, you're sure to pass the 5x5 enclosure in which they have 3 little cubs that they'll tell you are around a month old. In a larger enclosure they have some older cubs that they warn will scratch you. Even the babies have claws. It is 25 dollars to hold one or 35 to hold 2. My family coughed up the money and you do, in fact, get to hold baby cats. However, it's wrong. You know it's wrong when you do it. Maybe it was my naivety or my being in wonderment of it all, but these little cats are miserable and likely drugged. The little tiger was falling asleep and had runny eyes. The lion was clearly miserable and just wanted to sit in the corner and avoid everyone. I have cried over and over after I saw the plight of these baby cats. I did hold them. I cuddled them. They were so cute. They have the staff vetted to tell you whatever you want to hear about the cubs. I was told they were rejected. I was told they'd be relocated when they were too big for the enclosure. And I wanted to believe it. Don't be like me. Don't blindly listen. Don't pay to keep these animals enclosed. Support freedom and genuine love of our fellow species. Do not support the money hungry people who promote their suffering. choose love. read more

$70 for 10 minute photo session with baby lion and tiger. It is very overpriced but the money is not an issue here. Trainers often times stepping on poor baby cubs when they are not cooperative or trying to avoid interaction while taking photo. They just treat them like circus animals. read more

After visiting La Bufadora we decided to dine here, So I decided to order Lobster with beans and rice, I ask the waiter how much will it cost me and he said around $24 for 400gms and so I decided to order 500gms. But later on changed my mind and order their combo meal (which we thought a little bit cheaper ) which consisted of Half Lobster (it wasnt stated in the menu they will base the price with how much the lobster weighs), fish, Shrimp, Octopus rice and veggies, I told him, "I WILL CANCEL MY FIRST ORDER" and get the combo one instead, my friend order the same thing but she requested not to put octopus on her plate. After we ate we asked for the bill and we were shooked! we were charged $126 for what we ordered (attached photo) the guy said it's because I asked for 500gms lobster I even made sure to cancel my first order.. guys, do you think the lobster on my plate weighs 500gms? they even removed the octopus on my plate which my friend requested but not me. we were literally charged $36 for each plate!!! Came to eat at this place while on my cruise. We had the whole top floor to ourselves! The view was amazing and the baby lions, tigers, and leopards were a pleasant surprise. My daughter fell in love with the animals. Great place to take your kids. But it was $25 per animal for 5 minutes. I'm not sure if it was worth it but it was definitely an awesome experience. The food was okay but very pricey. I wasn't impressed. I ordered the taco's combo and my daughter had the enchiladas. The tacos were horrible and the tortillas were cold. I'm not even sure the carne asada was actually carne asada... Later on found out the fish taco's were actually shark meat! Beware of the tequila shots guy...he tricked me in to buying a bottle of tequila. All i wanted was a shot of a different brand of tequila in my pina colada and i gave him my card. Next thing you know he was bringing me the whole bottle. He charged my card $40 and I couldn't even open the bottle because your not allowed to bring back open alcohol back on the ship. When I tried to return the bottle they would not take it back. They said their were no returns allowed. I was pissed!! When the restaurant tried to run my card the bank had put a block on my card because they ran it multiple times. Now I'm waiting for the charges to clear. What a headache! Recommended by our tour guide, we stopped in the center of the La Bufadora Swap Meet to use the restroom, grab our free margarita (included with our tour), and enjoy a snack to power our MUCH NEEDED resistance to the extremely AGGRESSIVE shop owners. Speaking of the restrooms, they too (like everyone else around here) CHARGE to use the restroom. I think it was a nominal .50 or $1 fee....which is most likely removed if you become a patron to their establishment. One of the more dilapidated examples of an interior outhouse I'm sure you'll encounter. First of all, the view is OUTSTANDING. They lead us to the top floor, which had an EXCELLENT view of the ocean. The cool breeze playfully entering through a single open window, much appreciated given the surprising heat that lingered within the second floor on this beautiful 60 degree day. Be mindful, this heat would probably be overwhelming during the middle of summer. Just like every other Mexican restaurant you've dropped coin, chips and salsa soon appeared like the random battle Pokemon you know to expect walking through the tall grass. These chips were overcooked, a bit too crispy with a lack of salt. Salsa was DELICIOUS though, a tad spicy with plenty of depth! They could definitely sell this salsa in a tub at the local market :) We ordered the Tortilla Soup which was also good. Rich, thick broth with a bit of spice! We're doing good so far... And last but not least, the Ceviche (Fish & Shrimp). Very good ceviche, fresh tasting with a medium citrus tone. The consistency was great, tender with a good mix of fish/shrimp/veg ratio. Ours came with a side of COCKROACH hiding under the cucumber though!!! What a way to ruin a memorable meal :( If we did not have out little surprise at the end of the meal, this would have been a solid 3-4 star spot, especially taking in consideration the view and the shelter provided from the constant barrage of shopkeepers. We tried this place and is a total.tourist trap!! Don't waste your time!! We were told we would receive a free maragarita which we did but it was a tiny taste!!! Also we decided to have lunch at this establishment which I have to say for what we had this place is over priced!! We paid $100 US dollars for 1-appettizer, 1-lunch, 2- drinks, and some guacamole!!! I thought was very pricey!!! And they could not get one of our meals correct!!! I would have had a better lunch at one of the local stands!!!!! Also I bought a bottle of tequila downstairs and paid $30 too much which the employee insisted I was getting an excellent price!!! All I can say it's a BIG Tourist Trap!!! Our tour guide brought us here for a free margarita, clean bathroom, and tequila tasting. Tequila was very good. It was 8$ for a margarita and 5$ for a shot of Compadre tequila which is very pricey for the area but it was clean and I felt safe. They had great music on and swings for bar chairs and a slide by the stairs for a speedy return to the bar. It was really cute! The surprise was the wild cat nursery. At first I thought they were exotic house cats but they are real. Handlers explained how they foster them until 6months of age then they go to sanctuaries and reserves when they can fend for themselves. I wish I would have taken a picture of the statement. It was the opportunity of a life time. They sanitized us and took a lot of pictures for us. Leopard cub was super playful and cute! read more

We knew exactly what this was and my kids had an amazing time. Prices are appropriate for being in a tourist hotspot. Food is good. Pai Pai also has a zoo just outside Ensenada. Animals and staff was super friendly. I'd rather support this than Sea World. Once in a lifetime experience. read more
