The owner, who also acts as the chef, is the most delightful woman. She treated my girls to two wonderful appetizers--sambusas and pasty--which they completely devoured. For my main course, I ordered the tilapia tibs, and it was spectacular. After that first bite, we were hooked. We couldn't stop coming back, and with every visit, the food tasted even better than the last. Don't skip out on their wonderful Ethiopian coffee, either! For the rest of our stay in Dallas, Arif Cafe became our absolute go-to whenever we craved authentic Ethiopian flavors.

Arif Cafe is a quick drive from the original Half Price Books location. The outside of this restaurant doesn't do the amazing food inside justice. For our hungry table of three, an order of beef tibs and two veggie plates was a tummy stuffing dinner. For my fragile tongued husband, we went with a mild spice level which was still very flavorful. The beef tibs were tender in a way that only slow cooking can achieve. Service was attentive and made us feel right at home. Highly recommend for a exotic dinner out with a small group.

Others in the party ordered a sweet potato with brisket. The brisket was awesome--very moist and a good smoke flavor definitely not overboard. Another member got ribs, sausage, and lamb dishes--the cook on meats were perfect. And last but not least the bread---completely spongy and airy, great sourdough like taste, Service and friendliness of staff definitely made you feel at home. The worst problem with this place is it's in Arlington and we're from Frisco. But we all agreed to make the hour trip for the next birthday in our family group. Just simply outstanding.

Each dish had unique use of Ethiopian inspiration, especially the nachos I had. The platter is huge and there is no way one person can finish it. The chips are Ethiopian toast points and added a crunch that was delightful. The ribs were cooked perfectly. They did not fall off the bone which we like. They are true competition ribs allowing you to nibble off the bone. Granddaughter loved the flavor and juicy quality of her brisket! I'm giving the restaurant 3 stars because we had to wait for our food for over an hour. The wait staff were a bit indifferent to our order and had to be reminded twice our order was not complete. The restaurant was not that busy prompting me to believe there is a disconnect between the front and back of the house. The restaurant is in a strip center in Arlington. It's a comfortable little restaurant and bar and the adult beverages looked delicious!!

Despite the heat this weekend, we were craving Ethiopian food and decided to drop in in Addis Abeba…read morefor lunch. It's right off Hwy 75 and Beltline right across from the McDonalds after the light in the strip mall. It was easy enough to find and we strolled right in. It is self seating and we picked out a table chairs off to the right side when we entered. It's a decent size space with a fair for live music and plenty of seating; half of it on regular height and the other half bar height seating. There was one young lady serving and there were only 3 other families there. She was attentive and served us with a smile. We ordered taste of Ethiopia, which a mixed dish with Doro wot(chicken stew with boiled egg) kitfo(very slightly fired almost tartare beef) beef tibs(stew; all served in a bed of Injera(their traditional spongy oversized tortilla) made from teff. It has a slightly fermented taste for those who have never tried it before. The plate also had collards, lentils(shiro) and Ayib(homemade fresh cheese). This is right up there with Shebelle for the best Ethiopian food in DFW. Now I haven't tried all the restaurants but have eaten at enough to know what is next level. The explosion of flavors; the subtle heat from the jalapeños and chilli powder/paprika. The rich taste of the Ethiopian ghee it's cooked in. The best part is the injera that has soaked up all the sauces as the last fitting bites. The only downside is wouldn't stop eating, it was so so good and I got my share. I was full for the rest of the day and didn't eat until about 20 hours after that meal. Go try this place....the food is so worth it!

The waitress was kind and very helpful. She explained the dishes and even hand-served the buffet to me. The inside had tvs to watch the euro cup and the mint chairs were comfy. I enjoyed the buffet and the vegetable combo was delightful. The only thing that wasn't for me was the tea. It tasted like a fireball shot without the alcohol. If you like sweet things, then I would recommend. Overall nice experience and I will be bringing friends and family again for sure!
