I visit Habit frequently, mostly at the Habit location in Poway. I came by the Escondido location with a friend of mine a couple of weeks ago, and ordered my usual. We were dining in and enjoying our food, (maybe 20 mins in) when a manager came over to us and informed us that we were going to have to leave the restaurant due to them cleaning up??????????? I was quite surprised to be pushed out of a restaurant I enjoy, 2 hours before their closure??? What a disappointment and shock that was! Now a week later, I was in the Escondido area again and decided to stop by their drive-thru, this time I ordered a chocolate shake, once I made it up to the window, no one was there to process my order, I noticed my shake sitting on the counter, I waited several mins, and still no one came up to the window??? I ended leaving without my order. Since this is the second incident at this location, I've come to the following conclusion, this location is clearly bias towards its caucasion customers and it must stop! Their lack in ability of serving "ALL CUSTOMERS" equally and fairly is shady at best. And their conduct is beyond SHITTY! Pretty good for fast food, and i like their options for sides. I do have to say I do not come here that often, and I think I often forget about them just because there aren't as many locations. For those that don't know, they will give you a free Char Burger on your birthday if you sign up for the rewards so definitely take advantage of that. As far as their burgers go I have had several and do enjoy them, I think I'm not a huge fan of the spread they use but you can get it without it. The meat does taste fresh and not frozen which is a plus. I think the thing that I like the most and that does encourage me to to visit a Habit Burger and Grill, are the options they have for sides. They not only have french fries but they have the tempura green beans which I love, and just feel better about eating. They also have really good onion rings and you can do your side half and half. On this visit I got half onion rings and half tempura green beans. Everything was really fresh and not over fried or overcooked. I have also tried the Santa Barbara char previously, and the Ahi Tuna fillet Burger. I did enjoy both and like that they have options besides beef on a bun. Next up for me to try would be there sirloin steak burger, but I have to be really hungry because that looks like a lot of food. They often have various offers when you create an account, and you don't need to have the app which is great. I hate how some other restaurant locations will make you download the app to access any offers, forcing me to take up space on my phone. There happened to be an offer for a free kids meal with $10 purchase on this day that I went. If you haven't tried the Habit before, I would check it out at least once. My visit today was a bit disappointing. I have not eaten here for many months. This time, the burger looked smaller. The taste was still excellent. The fries were oily and lacked flavor. I had no interaction with the staff this visit. I did see them giving a homeless man a cup for water without hassle. The eating area was clean. Ordered online with Apple Pay for a quick dinner for my son. We were greeted with a smile, the food was fresh and ready when we arrived. The restaurant was pristine. Very odd setup for a drive-thru, haha. It looks like you are going to a drive-thru for an eyeglass place, but it is the Habit Burger's drive-thru that wraps around. The food was good, though! I love The Habit. I will definitely come back. My only critique is that there are a bunch of young people working here (teenagers or early 20s), and it is extremely clear all of them hate their job and customers. I saw one of the mocking a customer who asked for salt. Also, when the boy at the drive-thru window was giving me my food, he was gossiping with 2 other young employees, and he literally did not say a word to me. Went in around 11:00 in the morning and was promptly greeted and able to order. Staff was friendly and efficient. Food came out quickly and was good, better than most fast food burgers. Came here to pickup something for dinner the other night and went through the drive-thru....last time I did this I was stuck for a long while. This time it was really great service....the person who was at the drive was very nice and did an excellent job. I have to say it was a completely different experience than my last visit. They make very good burgers, with a good amount of high quality beef on a tasty sesame seed bun. They're advertised as being chargrilled, but I could taste no such flavor. The shredded lettuce is limp and with the caramelized onions, you don't get that delightful crunch you get from Iceberg lettuce and slice of raw onion like an In-n-Out burger.There was a smallish not very tasty tomato slice. The Habit Burger Grill located in La Mesa is cool. I'm just not head over heels in love with the idea of an Al la carte menu the prices can get up there fast which has to be weighed out if you're on a friendly budget. I however do like that they have a vegan burger option and they are just as good as the regular specialty burger like the teriyaki impossible burger which is really good. The tempura green beans are a customer favorite and I have to say are quite different in a good way. The food is made fresh to order and the service is good. I have eaten at this location twice and both experiences were about the same. the service and chill vibe or ambiance is maybe the reason I have eaten here more than once. For one my wife ordered food hamburgers, french fries and a chicken sandwich and avocado wedges spent about $65 in here. I thought it was weird that the fries taste like fish and the onion rings then I got a fish taste in my hamburger so they need to separate that shit But also when my wife was ordering, I was in the bathroom and one of the guys that work here just got done. I have been a frequent patron of the Habit Burger & Grill for several years. Let me spill the frustration this has happened multiple times. 1. When I use the app to order ahead I've been told that I can't drive up at the drive thru to pick up my order that's ready inside. Fine, I can get out and grab the sealed bag that's 12 feet from the drive up window. 2. When I get home and they have shorted my order. I have to drive back & have them correct the mistake. 3. Don't try calling the location to complain it goes to a remote call worker taking phone orders for those that do not use the app. 4. When I say I really enjoy the tempura green beans with ranch and so does my family. Why do I only get 3 ranch dips for an order of 5 tempura green beans. It literally says 9 ranch on the receipt. I can't call & I don't want to get in my car & drive back to get it corrected again. 5. This is why I do not tip because the attention to detail is seriously lacking, plus I did 45% of the work making sure my order I placed was complete. read more

Second visit to the Habit. Customer service remains top notch. The staff have almost a painted "Joker" like smile on their faces as they take your order and address any customer service request. You do feel valued. We had the exact same food as last time - also for takeout - a Portabella Charburger (Chargrilled beef patty, Portabella mushrooms, melted White American cheese, crisp lettuce, fresh tomato, caramelized onions, pickle, and roasted garlic aioli on a toasted bun) and a Santa Barbara Char (Double Char with Cheese & Avocado on Grilled Sourdough). With fries. The fries remain mediocre, and the portion small. (Actually the fries might have improved a tad from last time.) Unfortunately though, this time the burgers weren't that great. At first it seemed due to that we didn't eat them right away, but our last order was takeout too, and eaten just about as many minutes after receiving the food as before. Just, this time the meat in the burgers seemed perhaps overcooked, perhaps lower quality, in any case, drier and less tasty. We ordered Garlic parmesan fries. We got two orders of fries that had a small mound of cheese, no Garlic.they were not tossed with oil, garlic and cheese. There was just a small pile of cheese on top of dried out fries. Their Ranch Dressing, ...although having a good flavor, was very thin. Like water. More for and not realizing that the mistake was they had given me a meat burger, and spicy green beans which I could not eat as I don't eat spicy food. I threw the food away when I got home, but no I did not turn around and go back as by the point that I figured out what they had done I was 15 miles down the road and was not going to spend an extra half hour in an already long drive to go back to the restaurant. I felt sick to my stomach after realizing I had eaten 2/3 of a meat cheeseburger when I'm a vegetarian and I do not eat meat. This is an ethical choice I have made to not eat meat and so it is not just paying $20 for a meal that I had to throw away, it's the fact that now I am personally upset. If Habit Burger is unable to give people the vegetarian burger when it is ordered, they should not be offering vegetarian options. Most vegetarian's are vegetarian from an ethical standpoint and it is a very personal decision that has a lot of emotions attached to the eating of meat I feel violated. They took my choice to not eat meat away from me and that is beyond just a mistake with a meal. In the end it looks like I'm going to have to dispute the charge with my credit card company because I was charged for something I wasn't given, fed food I am morally repulsed by, and then offered more meat as a compensation for the fact that they stole from me ! read more

Better than a good burger. A solid burger. Fresh and fresh tasting ingredients. I forgot that "everything" includes caramelized onions. I wanted fresh raw onions instead. Oh well, it was still good. Next time. Also, they are not on the menu, but they will serve you frings if you ask, for the same price as a single serving of fries. Not many fast food burger joints will do that. Glad to see Escondido finally get a Habit of its own, even if it means taking a detour to the good ol' red light district. Came here on a rainy Tuesday around 7 PM and I was greeted immediately upon entering, as the establishment was pretty much a ghost town. The worker at the register who helped me out read my order back to me to confirm it was correct and what do you know? I probably waited five minutes, possibly less to get my order. I was quite impressed with the prompt service and accurate order, definitely left me a good impression on my first visit. Out of all the locations I've visited, this is the least amount of time I ever had to wait to get my food. Escondido's Red Light District warmly welcomes The Habit Burger. Good to have ya here. The Habit Burger adds a touch of class to Escondido's red light district. If you've never been to a Habit Burger before then you're in for a treat. They have a diverse menu that offers better quality products than the mega chains. Their strengths aren't their burgers, rather it's their sandwiches, salads, and kids meals that make these guys good. The burgers and fries still play second fiddle to In-N-Outs burgers and fries. The problem here, and at a few other Habit locations, is with their staff training and with food preparation. The location has been open for only a week but there are still big training issues. My burger bun was bunt and the cashier was having major difficulties placing orders. Not sure why a supervisor wasn't behind the cashiers, helping them get out of the weeds. I assume over time this stuff will be corrected. - Very good Kids meals - $1 soft serve cones - Their salads are the best fast-food salads around. - Three stars for now, but I can see an upgrade in their future once they improve on their staff training. - Great drink selection. - Inside is a bit awkward for families of five. So this a new I tried the time I walked in the atmosphere is really nice and friendly the staff are very friendly and environment was very clean and sleek and modern on the inside. When I walked up to the counter staff was friendly as any other place seem genuine I ordered the Portobello Charburger with an extra Patty as a meal with fries and a side of onion rings just to try out some of their things. From order to the time my food was ready and I ate inside was approximately 5 to 6 minutes. The food was fresh delicious fries were hot and crispy soft on the inside onion rings were cooked to Perfection as well but I mean it's fried food so hopefully you just watch the time when things go well but it did taste good nothing was over burnt or tasted like they were using use oil or anything all day. For me the experience was five out of five food was great atmosphere was great and the people were phenomenal I would like to go back and try the Ahi tuna sandwiches well it looked really amazing somebody who sat down next to me was eating it and it seemed to look like theirs was cooked to Perfection it looked really really good enough that I can't wait to go back to try that one specifically. again this is just my view and my experience everyone's differs but my experience was very pleasant make sure to leave a review if yours is any different or if it's just as good anyways I will upload my photos now to match my food I ate 5 out of 5 would definitely recommend. read more
