***Update*** The manager of the store never processed my refund so I had to call corporate to have them process it. I am pleased to say that the customer service from corporate was EXCELLENT! They promptly processed my refund and were professional and kind. Because of this I decided to return to Habit Burger in Selma, Ca. This experience was the opposite of the experience in Manteca. The Selma crew welcomed us, took our order at the counter, were out wiping the tables down, and they also had the vinegar stocked that I really enjoy putting in my ketchup. Now I understand that when I visited Selma they were not as busy, but excellent customer service means you have to plan ahead and make sure that quality of service is consistent when busy and slow. Ordered veggie burgers, one had bacon pieces in it, horrible. Was told years ago all the veggie burgers were cooked on a different grill than the slaughtered animals. I called, got their order center who then confirmed all burgers are cooked on the same grill, veggie or not. So one would question why the call it a veggie burger being as though it's cross contaminated by slaughtered animal meat, gross!!! read more

This is the worst habit restaurant I have ever been to. Every single time you walk in the door, they will look right at you. They're talking on their little drive-through Mic's to each other, and they won't even acknowledge that you walked in the restaurant. Can you at least say hi. Dang even the management is horrible. We used to come to this place religiously for a salad, green beans and boom sauce. They stopped serving the boom sauce and substituted it with a spicy ranch dressing, what a joke and not the same. Their service is horrible they don't greet you when you walk in, the manager is to busy cooking and running around and not taking care of the front. Unfortunately, we will not be coming back. We stopped here on our way to Yosemite, and it was a quick, good quality dinner after a long day of road tripping. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the habit burgers are of higher quality. They have most fast food chains that I visit, while still being at a reasonable price. I got the cheeseburger as well as a small drink. I went back today after a year to see if things have changed and I was pleasantly surprised. The lady who was taking the orders was very patient when taking my order. Her tone was more inviting then what I had gotten the past from others. I got the chicken sandwich,frys and a coffee shake. The total came to just about $23.00.. yes,the price is very high but it makes it more doable when the food is good and the customer service is better. The first time I went to this place I had no complaints but this time was very frustrating. First off $17 for a double cheese burger meal is a bit much but whatever if the food is really good then I can overlook the price. When I got home my fries were very cold and hard. Also when I was handed my drink it was about two inches from the top. I have no clue why places like Burger King, McDonalds, and now the Habit think they can raise prices and then proceed to be cheap with their customers. I've been here a few times. Came in October and my food was cold. I submitted an email to habit and they gave me a voucher to use another time. That time our food was good. Came today and saw the same employee and same manager as October. Ordered the food at the kiosk in the restaurant. Received food about ten min later and not a single item was warm at all. We hadn't eaten all day so my daughter just wanted to eat. The sweet potato fries lol overcooked yet were room temperature at best. I got a pattie melt and my cheese isn't even melted. The chicken bites are not warm at all inside. My daughter's burger kids meal was cold too. My food was not ordered ahead of time and didn't seem like it was made to order either. For as much money as they charge, you'd expect your food to be hot. In n out and canes don't have issues and they're much busier than habit. Now I understand why there are never other customers here. We've been eating at Habit burger for close to 10 years. Our first 100+ experiences with Habit happened at the Alameda Habit Burger in the Safeway parking lot near the Webster Tunnel. The vast majority of our orders were great, staff was friendly and good at what they did, and we had no trouble. Then we moved to Manteca, California, a small, low population cow town about 60 miles away from Alameda, and we started eating at the Habit this negative review is about. We've eaten at this location 30-40 times in the last few years, and we've noticed a major difference in reliability and customer service. More specifically, this location made a mistake with an order once and we had to take the food back. The manager instantly became adversarial and accused us of making up the problem despite our many, many orders, and demanded we give him back the food. We actually had the food with us and handed it back, and his attitude did not change. No apology. We received a replacement later. We've been ordering online and picking that food up in the drive thru for about a year now. Today we came to pick up our food after the website said the order was ready, and when we got to the drive thru window the staff bizarrely claimed "it wasn't ready / you can't get your food in the drive thru, you have to come in" even though the food was in a bag, ready, pre paid, 5 feet from the window. Someone I *think* was a manager came to the window when we demanded our food or a refund, and this fast food manager tried to explain to my family of medical professionals and immune compromised folks that "COVID is over, come inside" when we mentioned the ongoing pandemic as our reason for not wanting to go into a crowded restaurant. We asked him if he was a medical professional, since he was discussing a medical issue, but he said "no and I don't need to be, I watch the news", as if his unhinged, unscientific opinion should motivate us to go inside when our food was 5 feet from the window. Instead of losing the sale, throwing away the food, AND being forced to give us a refund, this man wisely opted to hand us our food, but not before offering his opinion to my family about a *pandemic* from his position as a fast food clerk. This drops our rating of this location to 1 star, or 0 if we could, until management and/or corporate contact us about this matter. We will be getting in touch with the store to verify of the person we spoke to was the manager, and making appropriate complaints. read more

My hamburger patties were so overcooked and so thin and dry like McDonald's cheeseburgers. They had no flavor and they seem very old. The person at the drive-thru moments ago needs proper training in customer service. She seems dismissive & not at all apologetic at getting the order wrong. She took my order & told me to hold on. I waited only for her to ask me again what I wanted. When I went to the window, she was about to hand me the wrong order, when I told her that wasn't my order, she closed the window, did not apologize & took forever to come back to me. I enjoyed my Santa Barbara Charburger, surprisingly pretty good but messy. My wife had the Portabello Charburger and she liked it too. So both of us enjoyed our meal at Habit. Does the Charburger Ticket make a difference? My previous visit wasn't so good, and manager Maggie had Charburger Tickets (coupons) sent to me. It's been almost a month since that visit and I wasn't sure that there would be any improvement but when a business of any kind starts, it usually has some rough moments. The person at the register was friendly. She explained about the coupon and I placed an order. This time, instead of only removing the mayonnaise, I added ketchup and mustard, and asked for the burger patty to be cooked to well done. I'd barely got my drink and sat at the table and the buzzer buzzed at me. That was certainly a short time, especially when the patty should take more time, not less. The outcome was better. What was a 2.5 star review is now a 3.5 star review. The fries still need some work at such a price. If the less expensive places can do a good job, shouldn't The Habit do a great job? I appreciate the effort, though. If other items, such as the garden salad make for a premium experience, I'll be glad to spend extra money. read more
