This Habit Burger and grill is very clean and the service is friendly. I enjoy the fact that there's an outdoor area to eat that's clean and there's lots of seating room to choose from. Parking is easy. I like to get a standard burger but sub sourdough bread for the bun, as it tastes better :) My son likes their chicken nuggets and fries. We share green bean crisps. But it was good..Restaurant was clean..there's about 5 people working..I walk in..there's a kiosk, I order my food, pay, then I'm prompted to tip. WTH??? FOR WHAT? Food was hot and accurate order. When I order chicken it's dried out and cover cooked. Burgers are always good. TIP: if you want a milkshake, don't order it when you order your food they'll make the milkshake immediately and let it sit there and melt while they cook your food. Order your milkshake after you get your food. This includes for online orders make two separate orders about 10 minutes apart or more. read more

It pains me to say it, but Habit Burger is basically branded cafeteria food. I really wanted to love them. I had never been to Habit before, but was intrigued after it famously beat In n Out in a USA Today poll. Then I received a coupon in the mail for a free double char with any $3 purchase, so I figured it was time to try! When I ordered, they offered me a sundae if I joined the Char Club...hungry and excited, I sold my data for a free sundae. The meat in my burger was bone dry. Beyond well-done. I got two dessicated pieces of meat with no juiciness or soft texture. Worse, the meat was unseasoned. It tasted like it had barely been salted, if at all. Who wants to chew through a wall of dry, unseasoned meat? And why are there no standards in the kitchen? The fries were basically bog standard fries that also tasted unseasoned. That said, my coupon also had an offer for a chicken club sandwich. So I went back two days later, thinking, "Maybe they just had a bad day! Maybe chicken is the way to go...". So I paid $4 for another round of cafeteria fries (also unseasoned) and got the most bland and uninspired chicken sandwich I've ever had. You'd do better with hotel room service or random diner food. There's nothing interesting or especially tasty about it. And since the sandwich is neither wrapped nor placed in a container with ventilation, the bread was soggy within 5 minutes. It was like a run of the mill chicken sandwich assembled in a hospital cafeteria. I think they just have people back there slapping basic stuff together without much care or craft for taste or texture or quality. I've never been to a more inspid burger chain. I won't mention the likes of In n Out, Gotts, Super Burger, etc....but even McDonald's is better than this. Yes, McDonald's may not be fresh and is full of preservatives, but you know what it is? It's distinctive. Like it or not, there's a specific, signature character to it. And it's yummy in a trashy, nostalgic junk food kinda way. That's way better than tasteless pap that has great photographs and marketing adorning the store but nothing to back it up when it comes to food. It's a bummer. If you're going to spend money roping people in with promotional coupons, you've got to make sure the kitchen can seal the deal. Otherwise, it's just a lost investment. Oh, and that free sundae? The signup portal promised that I'd get a promo email with the bar code within 5 to 10 minutes. It never arrived (yes, I checked my Spam folder). So to add insult for injury, I sold my data for nothing....what a chump! read more

Suburban chain. Decent prices. Juicy burgers. Nice selection of selve serve fountain drinks. Many iced tea and fresh lemonade options. Ranch dressing available for the onion rings you should totally be ordering. I almost always go for the teriyaki burger with cheese and pineapple. read more

Very nice, clean location. We grabbed some dinner the other day since we didn't feel like cooking. I ordered the Charburger with no cheese or pickles. We shared some chicken nuggets, fried green beans, regular fries, and onion rings. The Charburger was alright. I think I will get the chicken sandwich next time. The chicken nuggets had a lot of flavor, the onion rings were really crispy, and the regular fries were still raw and soggy. I liked the green beans even though one of them had a fishy smell. Their indoor and outdoor seating aren't open right now, but when they are again we'll be back to dine in. I think all of our food would have tasted a lot better if we ate it there. my hubby and I received some coupons in the mail for this place, so thought we would try it out for very the first time! we were greeted warmly by Armando whom I later found out was the manager. Armando has great energy and was very helpful! We very much enjoyed our chicken club sandwich stuffed full with avocados, double burger with cheese, onion rings, fries, fried green bean tempura, and an Oreo shake. Everything was very hot, fresh, and delicious. The restaurant is extremely clean, spacious, well lit, and tastefully decorated. I would def consider it elevated "fast food". Great vibes all around! One of our favorites was changed so completely they shoud have renamed it. the Santa Barbara Cobb Salad not the same ingredients, sure tasted different, sure was smaller volume, and sure was more expensive. This location is kind of tucked away off one of the main drags thru downtown Novato. The location is great, plenty of parking and a very spacious indoor dining area. The staff was super friendly. I order the Double Char Burger with cheese and Avocado and was a little disappointed this time around. The burger seemed a little under cooked than normally I would get at Habbit. But the burger was warm and so where the fries. I will have to stop by this location again and give them a 2nd shot. read more

Char grill definitely can taste. It's has a perfect ratio of beef to bun especially the double char, you surely taste the bbq smokiness and seasoned well juicy patties. Oreo shake, evenly blended bits with every slurp of the just thick enough rich shake that you can still suck up with the straw. Nice, refreshing, and sweet afternoon treat! Will be back for the brunch burger and crispy chicken sandwich! Open kitchen, super organized and clean. Happy hardworking staff with excellent overall execution. Downhill...we started eating the Habit years ago while living in Walnut Creek. Food was great , we never left disappointed. We have ordered kids meals, chicken sandwiches, burgers , salads, etc. we moved to Marin years ago and were so excited when they opened one in Novato. Ordered fairly regularly until Covid, everything was up to par, just what we had expected. During Covid, we felt the food quality declined drastically, but it was Covid , so we kept giving it another chance. Well we are far beyond Covid and the food is just ok . I think we are done "hoping" this chain restaurant will turn itself around. We just leave disappointed every time ! The "flavor" is lacking ( balance as can be ) , the quality is definitely not the same and portions are smaller than ever for the considerable price increases they have made. Not worth wasting our money anymore! Too bad because as a family we easily spend a good chunk of change to eat out. What can I say about Habit Burger? Started in Santa Barbara, and recently opening locations all throughout the bay area. Habit now enters the city of Novato, which admittedly is fairly burger saturated in my opinion. But, they aren't half bad. Quite good actually. I tried the Santa Barbara style burger which comes with Avocado on grilled (and buttered) sourdough bread. I can recommend this burger. Onion Rings were great as well. It can be a little heavy, so proceed with caution. If you order just a Charburger with fries, Habit won't do too much damage to your wallet either.
