I love Habit Burger! I normally go to the Bridgewater/Bound Brook location but I've been in this area a couple of times this month and they've been sending out some free offers and discounts on their app so we've stopped by. The first time we both had Charburgers. I had the Teriyaki Char which is basically a charburger w/ grilled pineapple, teriyaki sauce, and added cheese. I get this burger often and it's one of my favorites. I like the combination of the burger with the sweet pineapple and teriyaki sauce. My hubby got the Double Char plus added cheese and bacon and picked up some complimentary peppers from their pepper bar. He normally gets this burger and really likes it. For the side we had Sweet potato fries w/ classic ranch dipping sauce. For drinks we normally try one of their juices but I take a small sample first because sometimes they're too sweet. Service was friendly and fast so we returned for a second visit... On this trip half the order exactly the same, My hubby had the same burger and sweet potato fries but I wanted to try the Patty melt that they are having back for a limited time. I thought the burger was just ok... It's probably not something I would order again. I also had some onion rings w/ ranch dipping sauce which I love. I don't usually fall for any of those national "this or that" day but for national Cheese Burger Day you best believe Bill is all in people, Lol. And while I do find myself in this part of the neighborhood you know I'll be needing something to shove in my face on account of this very celebration, so hello Habit Burger and hello Charbroiled YUMMMMMMERS!! Details: grabbed up a CharBurger with Cheese, Bacon, Sautéed Onions, Tomato, Shredded Lettuce, and Jalapeños of course. Part 2 of my Union Township exploration. Today I wanted to try Habit Burger and Grill, I've seen other locations before but since I have to wait in Union Township for my Daughter...why not try it !!! I downloaded the app and registered and received a free charburger offer with a purchase of a drink. It's a win win because I ordered lunch for myself and gave the charburger to my daughter, and I only had to get a drink. I walked inside and they have kiosks to order which I prefer to use. I was intrigued by the sirloin sandwich. I left most the toppings so I can taste how it was intended to be served except BBQ sauce. As much as I love BBQ sauce it doesn't love me lol . So that was the only thing I omitted. I added a side of onion rings which comes with a choice of sauce. I left the default Ranch. While I waited ...it is busy its lunch time... I gathered my ketchup (I forgot I didn't order fries don't judge my memory lapse) they have a hot pepper station and I grabbed some pickled jalapeños. I had ordered a drink for my daughter and a bottle water for me. They give you your drinks when your order is given. I didn't wait long for my order despite them being busy. Now my tummy excitement to try this sirloin sandwich. Everything came very presentable and appetizing. Now have an open mind people this is a fast food restaurant and even though I eat my steaks medium rare to medium ...common sense was the sirloin was going to be cooked to the stores recipe. So that's why I didn't get my panties in wad upset.... I enjoyed the sandwich as is. The sirloin is a thin cut and seasoned despite being a sirloin it was not chewy or tough. It placed on toasted ciabatta bread with garlic aioli topped with aged white cheddar, lettuce, tomatoes and grilled onions. It was very good and the toasty edges of the bread tasted like garlic bread yummmyyyy. The onion rings done perfectly to give it a crunch when you bite into them. Not soggy at all. I didn't care for the ranch the onion rings were seasoned so I didn't need extra flavor. Towards the end of me eating the sandwich I tossed in the jalapeños ...it was yummy additional tang and kick to the sandwich. So if you have to wait for someone in the union Township area near Kean University and you're hungry ...give Habit a go!! It's really good and filling I definitely recommend it. Enjoy!!!!! read more

So this may be my 2nd or 3rd time at this location and I'm happy that every experience has been a good one. I visited the habit often when I lived in Southern California, so I was happy to see that it made its way east. This location is conveniently located in the Shoppes at Vermella Union. There is plenty of free parking right in the lot in front of the restaurant. The restaurant is usually pretty clean and empty every time I come. My go-to meal is the bbq bacon cheese charburger, with fries and the strawberry lemonade or limeade. Today's meal was delicious. Within 5/10 minutes, the burger was made exactly how I customized it, the fries were fresh and hot with a good amount of salt. The lemonade... perfect! I do wish the location on rt.22 was a drive thru. I think it would have been way more successful that way, but R.I.p. Needless to say, I'll be back at this Habit location! read more

Chicken sandwich was 3/5. If ciabatta was fresher could have been better. BBQ Bacon Burger was 1/5. Beef does not taste fresh and patty was too well done. Fries were 2/5. Could have been a tad more crispy but not seasoned well. Spicy ranch dip was watery and not spicy. read more

Habit Burger is just the latest in the current outbreak of bespoke burger joints that dares you to dislocate your jaw as you pile on the fixins'. My smothered cheeseburger looked obscene as I had to cut in quarters so the damn thing could be ingested without the need for a late afternoon power wash. As an afterthought the fries were terrific. My only concern is that their current owners, Yum Brands doesn't muck it up with menu downsizing that plagues some of their other laggards like KFC and Pizza Hut. Five cautious stars. read more

Finally someone turned around and said she'd be right with us and then she walked away. She never came back. I found the kiosks to order from and placed an order that way. I had wanted to ask about allergies though but literally nobody acknowledged me. Order was placed on the kiosk and there was only one other person in the restaurant waiting for food. In spite of that 10, then 15 mins pass. I want to cancel the order because we've waited so long and our order is nowhere is sight but again nobody acknowledges me standing at the register. We get the order after approx 20 mins ... and it's wrong. We are missing sauce, the burger is over cooked, the onion rings are black, and there are zero napkins. read more

I was looking forward to this place because it's new to the area. Who doesn't love a good burger? As far as COVID-19 goes, every precaution is pretty much being taken. There were some staff with masks only covering their mouths but they weren't by/touching the food. I ordered the Portobello burger and fries. It was pretty good, but the lettuce was bogged down by the Mayo. The actual beef patty was very thin and crispy. It reminded me of the frozen patties at the grocery store-- not the frozen juicy meat patties, like the ones they serve at middle school lunch. So yeah, not the kind of flashback most people want lol The french fries on the other hand were delicious. Perfectly cut, crisp, and fresh. I will definitely go back just for the fries! So all in all, I would give Habit Burger a 3 out of 5. It was giving, overpriced McDonald's. The burger was disappointing but the fries made me very happy. Full disclosure this visit deserves zero stars but that's not an option. I honesty hope that this establishment takes the time to read this review if they ever get to see it. Let's start with the positives The cashier was really friendly and welcoming. She took our orders pretty quickly. The Lobby area was also nice and clean. The rest of the visit. We ordered a 10 piece nuggets and two orders of sweet potato fries and it took us over 30minutes to get our order. They have an open kitchen so you can see as your food is being prepared. This for them was a bad thing. You could see how disorganized they were. No one was communicating and they were all just doing their own thing. The person that was the lead (the only one in a different shirt) was jumping between the fryer and the person assembling the orders. Everything was being completed out of order. This resulted in food sitting and being cool or being dipped back into the oil. I watched as they made my fries and not the chicken nuggets. When the fries were complete, the nuggets had not even been started. The fries sat for about 5 mins before they even started the chicken. They didn't fry the full order of 10, but instead, put 4 nuggets that were already sitting on the bottom and the six hot nuggets on top resulting in hot and cold nuggets. Now that the chicken was done, the fries had been sitting for at least 15minutes. The person then processed to dip the fries in the oil for about 10 seconds and serve them. This resulted in very oily and soggy fries. The nuggets stated like something you would buy in the frozen section at the supermarket. Overall, truly disappointed. read more

This is my first time at this place, but the cool sign and the colors invited me to try it with my friend. I ordered my food at the kiosk which was quick and efficient and gave me more time to figure out that I wanted. We sat in the waiting booth area and it only took about 5 minutes for our order to be ready and we watched it be made fresh. I ordered a little bit of everything to try. I would recommend you order with a cashier if you want to customize the burger like take things off because I didn't really see an option on the kiosk unless I just missed it. They text you when your order is ready if you order at the kiosk. I got the charburger and added bacon. I also got half and half regular fries and onion rings. Finally I got an order of sweet potato fries, a Oreo shake, and a medium drink. My friend also got a charburger with sweet potato fries, chocolate shake, and a medium drink. The sides were 10 out of 10 amazing. The onion rings and both kinds of fries were well seasoned and delicious. The burger was good and kind of basic. I just don't like the fact that they was only mayo and or some type white sauce. You had to pump you're own ketchup and put it on the burger yourself. The shakes were not good very watery and had a weird off brand ice cream taste. The place is quiet for the most part except for the sounds of cooking. They have some in house lemonades specifically the mango flavored limeade. I thought it was too sweet but my friend really liked it. All in all nice place will be back for the sides and to try the chicken sandwich. The prices are a little more expensive than McDonald's but not as expensive as a typical burger place. read more

They informed me how they are not a gluten free place but will do their best to prevent cross contamination. Received a coupon in the mail for a free Charburger and decided to give this place a try. First it's located in a really cool plaza. Up and coming! I tried their Charburger which came with lettuce, tomato, cheese and mayonnaise. Bun was soft and the burger itself wasn't too bad! The burger meat wasn't a fat juicy one. I always go with the charburger with cheese, this time I wanted to try the tempura green bean fries and they were awesome, make sure you get the ranch. I also got the French fries because why not? I didn't finish the fries but I did the green beans, honestly next time I go back I probably wouldn't even get the fries. They have a whole range of food so it's not just a burger joint, their salads looked pretty decent. I will def be back here! The wait wasn't bad - in and out within 10 mins! They are super nice went twice in one day. I love their grilled chicken Caesar. The grilled chicken is made to order so it's nice fresh, juicy, and well seasoned. It's not cold and hard like other Salad bar places. The Caesar is a good portion. Their fries and onion rings are also really good I had that with a side of their boom sauce! The burger and tuna sandwich were great, however, the fries, both regular and sweat potatoes were horrible. They both were overcooked and tasted like they were cooked in the same old oil. For starters, they have an open concept kitchen which makes it easy for a customer to see what is going on in the preparation of their order.
