Little Betty Steak Bar is easily one of the best restaurants in Birmingham. We've been multiple times now, and they genuinely deliver every single time. Amazing food, amazing vibes, and amazing service from start to finish. And don't let the name fool you if you're like me and don't eat steak. There is SO much to love here. The burrata and Caesar are fantastic starters, the lobster rigatoni is incredible, and the chicken Milanese is insanely good. You genuinely cannot go wrong with the menu. Our waitress, Anna, was fantastic. She was attentive, friendly, and made an already great experience even better! This most recent visit was another home run. They had a trial dessert on the menu, a lemon tiramisu, and it was hands down the best dessert I've had in a LONG time. Seriously incredible, and I really hope they make it a permanent menu item because I would come back specifically for that. Little Betty is one of those places that just consistently gets it right. We had heard from so many friends that we had to try Little Betty Steak Bar. When a friend invited us to dinner we were so eager to try it, and let me say we were not disappointed! The ambiance was great with lights on the tables, low lighting overall and plenty of room between the tables. We definitely felt like we were in our own little corner, could hear each other talk, and we did not have to listen to others conversations. I really enjoyed the mocktail I ordered. It was called the Sinaloa Sunrise and was much more than a few juices poured together. It was full of flavor, and I actually said "Wow" out loud as I drank it. It included pineapple juice, lime juice, habanero brown sugar syrup, sage syrup, and grenadine sink. Before I ordered it, i I wondered about the sage syrup, but it really added to the taste. For an appetizer, we shared the Wagyu Beef Carpaccio. Our friend suggested it and he was right on the money. It consisted of fresh horseradish, truffle aioli, fingerling potatoes, pickled mustard seeds, arugula, and caciotta al tartufo. It was melt in your mouth goodness. For my entree, I went with the 8 oz Filet. It was cooked perfectly, and we shared a side order of the Brussels Sprouts Calaprese. They were absolutely delicious and plenty for the three of us. This wonderful evening ended with dessert. I went with the Bananas Foster Cheesecake. It was good, but it needed more caramel. It included brown butter caramel, pistachio banana crumble, spiced ice cream, white chocolate crèmeux and white chocolate pearls. Was this an expensive dinner? Yes, but it was well worth it. Little Betty more than exceeded every high expectation that we had and I'm so happy to report it is BEYOND worth the hype. We were greeted with the warmest hospitality you can imagine and our waiter, Chris, was so kind and knowledgeable. He thoroughly went over the menu and Emma, his assistant, didn't let our glass get less than half full all night. They were both extremely attentive and personable as well. Chef Kyle greeted us and made sure we were enjoying everything and taken care of. Each dish reflects the passion for his craft. He described a few dishes perfectly - one being the waygu croquettes. He said they were like French onion soup in a ball and deep fried. We enjoyed every bite and I told Chris that we'd take 27 more of them We also got beer carpaccio - compliments of the chef. This was my first time trying it anywhere and I was pleasantly surprised. The truffle aioli, cheese, and arugula atop thinly sliced beef that reminded me of prosciutto. Each bite was a little different - would get again. The focaccia is not to be skipped either. Warm, soft, fluffy, with flaky salt and olive oil. Done. The Caesar salad is one like we've never had before. The cured lemon set this over the top and added a tangy yet sweet component. I'm not usually one to rave about a Caesar salad but this was top tier. My spicy lobster vodka pasta was phenomenal and just the right amount of spicy. Extremely flavorful and had big chunks of lobster. The bread crumbs on top added the perfect crunch. David loved his steak and his only complaint was that he needed a serrated knife to cut it with. I heard a lady at a table beside us say the same thing Not to say that it wasn't cooked perfectly - because it was. We loved the Gouda fries and the crispy brussel sprouts were probably my favorite brussels I've ever had (!!!). The affogato was heavenly (never met one I didn't like). Second visit to Little Betty. First was a party of 8 second was a party of 5. All of the dishes were excellent, but standouts are the carpaccio, the tuna with truffle puree sauce (light, bright, and I used a spoon to finish off the sauce!) The white bolognese is to die for and was ordered by two people the second visit. The menu is very accommodating to gluten free and other allergies. Matt was extremely knowledgeable about appropriate dishes and those that could be modified to accommodate special situations. He made excellent recommendations and even made our dessert selection for us, which was a perfect ending to an excellent meal. Patrick worked so well with Matt that we had what we needed before we knew we needed it and I'm certain made Matt's job easier. He checked in frequently without disruption, and his knowledge regarding the menu was very helpful. His interactions were cheerful banter balanced with a keen eye from a distance. Been wanting to try this place for a while on the recommendations of friends. The food absolutely didn't disappoint. I had the Little Betty's 12oz filet. Wonderfully flavored and very tender. I also had the mushrooms and loved them. Service was impeccable. The only downside, and 4 instead of 5 stars, is the noise. We went on a Tuesday night and it was just incredibly loud. At a 6 person table I couldn't hear the waitress at the other end telling about the menu. It's hard to carry on a conversation with those sitting beside you. We had a reservation on 5/16/26 and first, I want to say the service was outstanding, and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant was fabulous. There was a very nice wine selection, and the cocktails were also excellent. We ordered several appetizers, and the beef carpaccio was absolutely to die for. The sides were great as well. My only complaint was the steak. It was cooked to order, but the flavor was mediocre at best. I've had much better steaks elsewhere, and for the price, I would recommend skipping the steak and trying something else instead -- which is disappointing for a restaurant that bills itself as a steak bar. Went to Little Betty this evening for a belated Mother's Day. We had not been to LB in Mt Brooke previously but it was much anticipated given how much we've heard that others like it... Drinks: - Tim Collins with well Gin (Plymouth) - La Sirena Di Sicilia - Sinaola Sunrise (mocktail) BEST! Second round of drinks we both ordered the Sinaola Sunrise spiked with Tequila, so good. I would go back for this drink. Food: - Rosemary Focaccia with Truffle Butter Good, as expected but I don't think I tasted any rosemary at all. The truffle butter was a nice addition and at $10 for the butter there was enough for the focaccia and filet. - Roasted Bone Marrow When we ordered, our server made a big deal about the little spoons that made the marrow so easy to scoop... well we did not receive spoons and it was a challenge to scoop out the marrow. And even after we mentioned it to her we did not receive spoons. - Tuna Cannoli The cannoli shells are so tough, I was expecting some easier to bite into. The tuna was only at the end and the avo crème is in the middle. I would have preferred a single bite with both the avocado and tuna - 8oz filet, medium Perfect. Seasoned + cooked perfectly - Veal Chop Parm Delicious. Easily split with 2 people; the Sunday Sauce is delicious and rich. The side arugula was a refreshing to cut the richness - Creamed Corn "special" side Definitely more casserole than creamed corn but sweet and delicious - Cacio de Pepe side I was caught off guard without having the large cracked pepper offset the pasta. The pepper seemed to be fine white pepper. Disappointing. Definitely some ups and downs here. Overall the drinks and food experience was positive. The biggest let-down was our server. She was over-attentive in the worse ways. She read at least 50% of the menu to us giving us her personal opinions of each dish; she explained how shareable sides worked and what "family style" meant; she explained how Italian menus are ordered (my husband and child are Italian); she insisted that we order the full order at one time and then commented on how good everything smelled when it came out; she was practically sitting on my husband's lap as he was looking over the cocktail menu.. the list goes on. I appreciate that she was present, but we had a hard time enjoying each other's company with her practically camping out at our table. Had a 6:30 reservation for a Monday night. We arrived around 6:23 and were greeted and seated immediately. We were there to celebrate our daughter's 33rd birthday. Our server, can't remember his name, was phenomenal. Being our first time he explained the menu thoroughly and made suggestions. Our meals: My husband: 20oz dry aged bone in ribeye cooked medium. Steak temperature was perfect and seasoned well but too much char. Me: Hand cut pappardelle. The pasta was cooked al dente and the truffle cream sauce was to die for. Our daughter: 8oz Wagyu filet cooked medium rare. Sides: broccolini, Gouda fries, and whipped potatoes. Broccolini had the right amount of firmness and a little kick to it. Gouda fries were crisp on the outside and tender on the inside. Whipped potatoes were nothing special that I can't get at any other high quality restaurant. Caesar salad - nothing special, lettuce was crisp and dressing was good. Drinks: 2 daiquiris, glass of wine and an espresso martini. Overall: Warm and welcoming, low lighting for added ambiance, attentive and friendly staff, food was delicious, flavorful, mouthwatering and appealing. A little pricey. The food was absolutely delicious! If you are uneasy about the price point, you can rest assured that the staff and service will definitely warrant the price of dishes, and the taste puts it even more on target. Attitude too stuffy for what the destination is- a good steak house. Examples of attitude: 1. pre-dinner phone call to share dress code, rules on kids - call will interrupt your workday. This was myself, I do admit, and the smash burger was great! A tad small of a serving size, but the fries balance out the proportions. My wife indulged in the filet and would recommend it! No mention of it. Who does that? And who carries that much cash around anyways? I'm a frequent visitor of the Lane Parke area, and I got to witness Little Betty being built. As soon as I saw the beautiful signage outside, I knew this place would be a hit! For now, you may only be able to dine here if you make a reservation since it's one of the most popular places in Mountain Brook. The earliest reservation we could get for my friend's birthday dinner was Thursday at 9:00pm, but we were so excited to finally try it that we all made it work! When I got inside, it was pretty popping. There were so many people, and everyone was having a great time. The decor and ambiance was so neat inside. We were seated at the cutest wrap around booth. I loved it! Our server was amazing too and acknowledged our birthday girl. He was very attentive to all of our needs. We started off with two rounds of Rosemary Foccacia for the table. It was delicious and the perfect way to start off our meal. Then I ordered the Beef Wellington Ravioli as my meal. It was okay, but the sauce wasn't really my cup of tea. I did like the cheese on top and the overall presentation. But I don't think I will order if again. I will order the hand cut pappardelle next time since that was something else on the menu I was eyeing. I tried some of my friends' dishes including the Springer Mountain chicken and the filet. They were both delicious! Also, I liked how the menu was pretty big and not everything is extremely pricy. Sure you have the $225 tomahawk and the $1200 bottle of wine, but you also have the $16 salads, reasonably priced pastas, and the smashburger with side of fries for $28. Jacket is preferred, but there are many affordable options on the menu if you look.
