Habitat for Humanity Restore is this crazy shop. It has so much of all kinds of everything: construction, furniture, electrical related items, etc., etc., that it's almost hard to imagine. This shop is stocked full of so much stuff, it is amazing. If you're looking to furnish your home with vintage chest of drawers, desks, lamps, and a little bit of everything else, this is an incredible place to find it. If you're redoing your home, your office, your studio, or any other place, and you want to add some really truly unique elements to it, this is the place to go. When I say this business has all kinds of unique everything, I am not exaggerating. It's really an adventure to go inside. Because you never know what you will find. It's really fun! The moment you walk in the door of this business you'll be hit with a visual cornucopia of a little bit of everything. They have paintings, artwork, glassware, you name it... I cannot articulate the amount of truly unique stuff they offer, because they really have a lot. Of course, the staff here are always happy to help you out. But, in a lot of ways, you don't even need them, because all you have to do is go and find that unique something, grab it, pay for it, and you're out the door. I've been coming to the ReStore for a few years, but it's worth writing my review now that I've had such wonderful customer service experiences with their staff. Another customer stole something I purchased from the store and the folks at the ReStore were so incredible in handling the situation and giving me a store credit in addition to a full refund on the item. I couldn't ask for better or nicer people -- Jason and Kristin, managers of this location, are simply wonderful and thoughtful folks. We love Helen and James at the front desk, and I've been lucky with great finds here. They are lovely to interact with at pickup in the back as well. I love this place for all my restoration projects and finding awesome furniture. My 1950s Singer machine and table was $30 here -- incredible find! I've also found two gossip benches, 1920's chairs and all the hardware I've ever used comes from here. Highly recommend and the experience is fantastic. Why am I just stepping foot into here recently?! I wish I would've found this a lot earlier in my years -- ie. COLLEGE life. Compared to the east side, I think this place has a lot of cute mirrors and Knick knacks (end tables) for purchase. While I have not recently purchased anything here, I know that some of the things they've priced are great in comparison to another Habitat Restore in Wisconsin. Their Facebook page has been active enough to bring me into the store twice and something always catches my eye. I'll definitely be returning to see what else I can find for my apartment. read more

This is a weekly place I can find myself any form of random useful items to save a buck. Some days are bonus. Some are fruitless. All are interesting. Madison had two locations. Both seem to be arranged by the same person. The Baraboo location is like an entirely separate entity by comparison. I have shopped and volunteered at Restores across the country. This one is my favorite. If you dont know what a Restore is, they take used and new donated building materials (the stuff you would buy at Menards) and resell it, and use the profit to build Habitat homes. I like it because I am always looking for a good deal on the materials for my projects, and often dont mind used. And also I collect vintage items like ceiling fans, light fixtures/lamps, etc, and Restores are one of the best places to find such things. This Restore is my favorite for a host of reasons. They get a wide variety of stuff-- mid century to current/brand new. They tend to be less selective about what they sell (some stores only put out new/impeccable stuff, and that's not what I'm looking to buy). They sell furniture (some Restores dont). They tend to price reasonably (some Restores sell used items for new prices). The staff is very friendly and helpful (some, it seems like you are required to be cranky and anti social to work there). Biggest con is that they dont negotiate on prices. Some Restores do, although not any in this area. I have also volunteered at several stores, because I believe in their cause. This is one of the better stores to volunteer at. The staff is welcoming. There are cookies. They value your expertise. One of the other reviewers noted that if you want modern stuff, or cool vintage/antique stuff, this isnt the place. That's not true, but you have to check back every week or even every day. It is there but it sells IMMEDIATELY. The 80s/90s stuff doesnt sell nearly as quickly as the post 2000s or pre 1970s, so that's mostly what you see. Keep checking back. Usually reliable, buuuuut... I was sold a set of 3 white cabinets for $65 each. Score! Unfortunately, I got home and took them apart to see a fully-blown MOUSE NEST in it! And this was on the floor for sale for over a week! Ick. I am definitely going to open and take out all the drawers from cabinets and the like at every resale place from now on. Most everything else is pretty nice as a whole. But I wasn't really expecting to pay $180ish for a surprise mouse habitat. read more

Great place to pick up used and new items at great discounts. The items are always changing so it's one of those places where you have to stop in every few weeks or checkout their facebook page for daily updates with pictures. Love this store! read more

They have great stuff in here. It is a thrift shop, of course you have to dig through to find what you want. Hopefully, you will score a good deal on something you are looking for a remodel, a friend, or a family member. What is in here is not dirty or unusable, which is great. We have seen things that are brand new that we wish we would have looked here first. If you have a rental property, look here first. What is in stock will depend on what stores and contractors and locals donate, it isn't like going to Menards where you can order- though it is a small fraction of the price. The staff is helpful and friendly, and will give you tips on installation. read more

I love the ReStore. Great deals on building supplies and lighting. The West side store tends to get newer stuff than the East, but the East has more thrift store type bargains. Definitely worth stopping by if you are remodeling or looking for furniture. read more
