I've been to habitude many times. I kept going back because the spa has a very soothing atmosphere. But, it is really overpriced and the customer service is terrible. After today, I will never go back. They truly do not seem to care if you had a good experience or if you ever come back again. First, I checked in for my scheduled 11:30 appt for a massage. They told me they had rescheduled me with a male masseuse and claimed that they tried to call me but got a busy signal. I have a cell phone - I can't think of any circumstance where it would give a busy signal instead of going to voicemail. I saw no missed calls or any evidence that they had called. Second, they failed to mention at that point that they had me scheduled for an 11:00 appt so they considered me 20 min into my 90 min massage. I only found that out when I was given a 1 hour massage instead of 90 minutes. I definitely didn't schedule the appt for 11 as I had other morning plans. Also, I had a 2pm hair appt that was supposed to give me an hour to lounge around the spa - a plan I specifically discussed with the man who scheduled my appt. When I complained about the scheduling mistake and canceled my hair appt the people at the desk apologized with insincerity that bordered on sarcasm heavily implying that the mistake was mine. They initially offered me $25 off my bill but only offered a $25 discount on my next appt at checkout. This was my treat to myself for my last day of maternity leave. I'd recommend against going to habitude - especially if going to a spa is a special/rare treat. They really don't care about their customers at all. read more

Using their each of website form, direct email and phone calls several times they still haven't contacted me in any manner so I'm not sure if this is $200 down a rat-hole, but I am certain that their customer service just does not exist. read more

I recently went to Habitude and experienced not only my worst dye/style job, but also the worst service I've ever had. Pedro was 15 minutes late for our appointment (first appointment of the morning) and then took 3 hours to do an all over color. Somewhat simple, right? He disappeared on me several times throughout the appointment for 30+ minutes at a time. He then had the woman who shampooed me style my hair (very sweet woman, but wanted to cry at the outcome). When done, my hair was black which I had specifically requested to avoid (was going for a chocolate brown). To top it off, I had scheduled the appointment online for $91 and was asked to pay $175 because he did 3 color bumps?? Was not told this in the appointment. Refused to pay. I recently had a pedicure done today & will never go back. The customer service was excellent but the salon pedicure was horrible. The atmosphere is very welcoming as well. My friend and I both scheduled a pedicure and had high expectations and was very disappointed. My friend had a hot pad placed on her shoulders and I didn't receive one and we both purchased the same package! F for consistency! Also my technician was slow and did not massage well, it was very light and she finished before my friends technician and she started later. The same technician that did my friends nails, did my friends manicure; she again did horrible and demanded a different style than what my friend requested. I really hoped for a better experience. I will never go here again and feel like a wasted a lot of money! I wouldn't have tipped at all but felt obligated to since a friend gave us a coupon to get a percent off! My wife wrote a review that was taken down so I'll try to champion her cause. I've had my hari cut there and it was ok, pricey but a decent haircut. She's had mostly decent haircuts there as well, until.....she didn't, and when that happens, well be prepared to get the cold shoulder. I have been a fan of Habitude for massage for years. I've been coming here since 2002 and have rarely been disappointed by the quality of service. That said - parking sucks at the Ballard Locks location, especially since the Nordic Heritage Museum is being built next door and the paid parking lot that used to be across the street is closed too. Groupons and the Habitude member discount packages are only able to be booked during Monday through Friday, so if you're coming here because you have a coupon, be advised that you must call for an appointment and be available during the week; you can't book online. Also be advised that there are two salons - the one in Fremont doesn't do spa stuff (massages/facials/body wraps) but one in Ballard by the Locks does. It isn't the cheapest salon but I keep coming back because I like having access to a locker room with a secure locker and fully stocked showers so I can change into a robe when I get massages and then clean off the oil when I'm done. I also like the staff as a whole, though the few times I've gotten a trainee massage therapist have been the few times I have been disappointed. read more

I needed to have my shellac redone so I went to Habitude for a manicure because it's extremely close to my house. I called to make an appointment and was pleased to find they could accommodate me the same evening. When I went in for my appointment, I was surprised by the vast size of the place. Downstairs is a pretty large salon and upstairs is a cozy spa. I walked upstairs to meet my manicurist and I was immediately greeted and offered a cup of tea. She sat me down and efficiently completed my manicure in about 30 minutes. I was pleased with the results. The only thing I was very unsatisfied with was the price. I assumed that my shellac would cost about $40, as this is the median price quoted on the CND website and what I've generally been charged at most nail salons. This was not the case at Habitude, however, as I was charged $70 for the very basic shellac. I was pretty disappointed and I will definitely not return. read more

This review is tricky because I view Habitude as half awesome half crappy. Half Awesome, or otherwise known as the upstairs: I have been back several times for the Essential Message. Every time I ask for a different masseuse, mostly because I want to find the bad ones and steer clear. So far, every massage has been delightful. I also was able to use a Groupon for a facial and let me tell you, if you are looking for an amazing facial, ask for Jill. LOVED HER!! Such a darling and very good at her craft. 5 stars for sure for the spa upstairs. Half crappy, or otherwise known as the main floor: I have tried to get my hair colored and cut here a few times, and each time I had to go back to get it fixed. I have never had to do that before, and truthfully I feel weird calling up and asking to come in for a "re-do." The first time, the stylist colored my hair and left spots. I looked like someone was coloring brown polka dots on my blond hair. After she fixed it on my second visit she asked if that was more to my liking...um yes it was thanks. The second time I was told that the stylist needed to separate my color and cut into two different visits...because I have thick hair. She needed a faster turnover, because it took her 4 hours to do my hair. Again, I have never had any other salon take more than 2.5 hours to color, wash, cut and style my hair. Just ridiculous. I won't be back for a hair appointment anytime soon. 1 star for the salon on the main floor. read more

Let's just say that I wish I had used a groupon so that I wouldn't have been so let down by the haircut in which I paid way too much! First off, making the appointment was super easy. It was a few days away, so I prepared several pictures on my phone to show the stylist. I showed up to the salon 15 minutes early. The salon was very clean and inviting. Then the time came-- I met my stylist, Bethany. She was super sweet and seemingly confident. I showed her the pics of an inverted bob with exaggerated length up front. She replied with a "that's easy" and "it'll look great on you". So she commenced with the scalp massage and shampoo. It was then that I started to get a little nervous because she stated she wanted to cut up to 2 inches off and she started the pushing of products. I asked her to start with less and then we could reevaluate after it was dry. Well, she ignored my request. She was cutting at least two inches off all the way around. My heart was stopping as I saw the hair hit the ground and my plastic camisole. Then once it was dry, I could affirm that the cut was nothing like the picture. I stated that she had cut too much off the front, there was no inversion nor exaggeration in length up front. She declared "it'll grow some and you'll be able to tell". I was trying to give the kind lady the benefit and just wait til she was finished styling. Then, she asked how I like my hair styled. I told her I flat iron it so that the edges look clean and a lil punky. Once again, she ignored my request and stated "I think we can get the same effect with a round brush". So in conclusion, I paid a master stylist to cut MY hair how SHE wanted. I hate my look. I had the cut the week before New Year's and I still hate looking at my hair when I'm getting ready. This is the first review I've ever written. I feel silly and foolish. Essentially I look like a little fifth grade girl with a rounded bob. My length is too short to go somewhere else and have it styled. For now, I just have to wait for it to grow out again. I will never step foot into this Habitude or another again. Just disgusted. I wish I could take away the one star. read more

I have only gone here twice and it wasn't quite I expected for the price I paid. The first time I received a manicure, and that time was all right. The second time, however, I felt like I had just wasted my money. I was going to a special occasion and decided to go and pamper myself by getting my makeup and hair done. When I had finished, my makeup looked oily and not very good. The woman who did my hair however, was extremely nice and did her best to give me what I wanted, but my hair just looked poofy at the end. I do hear that the massages are heaven.. read more

I got my first cut at Habitube recently and I am very happy with it. The staff was friendly when making my appointment and when arriving for it I was offered something to drink and a smock. My cut was done by Robert H. He had me sit and talk about what I wanted done before getting started, and gave me advice when asked. I have long hair and like very pretty layers that flow, without any shaggy, spikeyness. He did it exactly how I wanted. There was an artwalk going on during my cut and Robert offered me a glass of wine, he was charming and funny and kept the conversation flowing during the cut, without prying or telling me way too much. I will definitely be going back to him for my next cut. read more

I got a manicure. The nail technician was friendly and did a good job, but for $35, I expected to at least have my hands soaked in warm water prior to the start of the manicure. Instead the technician sprayed my hands with sanitizer and start filing away on my nails and pushing back my cuticles, which was a bit painful because they weren't soft! The hand massage was relaxing but the lack of the nail soak made it feel less luxurious to me. We go to a salon to get our nails done because we want to feel pampered, right? Maybe if you pay for the "ultra" manicure they'll throw in some warm water. Overall, I was not impressed with the value and wouldn't come back for a nail service, but I'd perhaps try a facial or massage. That seems to be Habitude's strong suit. read more

I had a wonderful experience here! When I saw the Groupon for the spa package, I decided to try it. Jeff performed my massage and Caitlyn performed my facial. Both were fantastic and very professional! Jeff offered me some of their tea, and although I'm not usually a tea drinker, this was the best tea I've ever had. My skin looked great the next day and I really enjoyed both services. I liked the shower rooms as well, they offer a private space to shower and change which is more relaxing to me than a shower with a curtain in the open. Overall it was a fantastic experience and I felt like I was floating by the time I left. read more

Habitude is my favorite way to practice some self-care. The whole spa experience is one of the best in the city, particularly if you are lucky enough to schedule your massage with Oleda. I have had a lot of different massage therapists in my lifetime, but Oleda absolutely takes the cake. She is great at adapting pressure and focus areas depending on what is going on with your body on any given day. Plan some extra time to sit in the sauna after your treatment. My only constructive feedback would be that it would be great if there was hairspray in the bathrooms for after shower time! read more

Went for a 60 minute Deep Tissue massage with Jeff. He was great-he knew what he was doing! The room was calming and Jeff only spoke when checking in on how I was doing (that's a huge plus--we've all had the chatty therapist who insists on conversation, even when you are face down). All of the other employees I dealt with were also very nice, courteous and helpful. The price is kind of high, but well worth it. I've spent much less, but received a truly crappy massage. All areas of Habitude were tidy, clean and inviting. I will be returning. read more

When it comes to brows, its really hard to find someone who can create a great shape for your face. Especially if you're like me, and you have what some may refer to as, a "lazy" brow- just the right one, mind you (I just like to think of it as "special"). Amanda at Habitude is the ONLY person who has whipped my "lazy brow" back into shape. I'm usually not very loyal to service providers because I rarely find someone I really like enough to go back to every time, but in the past few years, I have only seen one other person for my brows besides Amanda as she wasn't available on such short notice. And by the way, while the person I saw did a great job, she asked me to apologize to Amanda the next time I saw her- because she couldn't shape the arch the way Amanda had. Plus, she always offers to give me a scalp and neck massage, too, if I have time. And in my book, that's pretty frickin sweet. Five stars for Amanda! read more

My mom and I bought a living social deal for this spa to have a girls night out and I was surprised at how luxe it was! If I had realized how it worked, we would have arrived early to take advantage of the sauna and showers. As it was, our appt was at 7pm and the spa closes at 9pm. Our massage was from 7-8 and then a pedicure from 8-9 which left no time for enjoying the perks. They have free add-ons like a hand massage or 5 min chair massage. Also aromatherapy, tea, nuts, comfy seating areas to talk and a great relaxing ambiance. When we mentioned that we wished we had time to enjoy the sauna, they said we could come back another day and use it without having appts scheduled! NICE! The only reason I gave the spa 4 stars is because of the price. If we didn't have the deal, we could never afford it. Regular price for a massage and pedi is over $180! Really!?! It was nice, but the pedi chairs were too hard (no massage in the chairs) and the quality of the pedi was the same I get for $25 at my local nail place. I can't believe people pay $60+ dollars for that pedicure. Anyway, I love the spa. I thought about bringing my bridal party there for pre-wedding pampering...but then the sticker shock hit. This was my first visit to the spa, and I had an Essential Pedicure with Dawn. She did a great job and my feet and lower legs feel very pampered and well-taken-care-of! I was early for my appointment, but it was no problem for them to set up and take care of me right away. I was the only person in the nail area, so it was very quiet and relaxing, with a hot cup of tea in my hands. Dawn paid great attention to my feet and toenails and gave me a wonderful massage, which felt so nice, especially since i work retail and am hard on my legs and feet. She did a perfect polish job and at the end of my pedicure, gave me a tour of the spa area as well, which includes lockers and showers and a sauna. The pedicure was not the cheapest, but they clean and sterilize all their tools between each client, and I'd rather spend a little more and make sure I have sterilized equipment being used on me, so it was worth it. When it came time to check out, everyone was very friendly and attentive and didn't try to hard-sell me on products or anything like that. I would definitely consider returning to the spa, this time with a friend in tow! read more

Habitude is great! Offering so many services right in one place is so convenient. The only reason I go to this place is because of my fabulous stylist, Raeven. I would follow her anywhere! She's that amazing. She is so attentive to what you need and want. She will analyze your hair, let you know what's going on, talk with you about what you want to do, she explains everything in detail about what she's doing to your hair while she's doing it, she won't do anything you don't want, she's a great listener and very fun to talk to, AND she also give great head massages! I always leave Raeven feeling amazing and looking amazing! This particular visit not only did I get a fantastic short cut that I absolutely love, but I also got a brow wax by the lead specialist, I think her name was Kailey (she has redhair), and it was also great. Usually I leave and get bumps around my brows and and then find something that doesn't look right or isn't even and to my surprise she did an amazing job! Not only did she do great, but she was so nice and had a great convo with me which was nice and distracting from the wax ripping my hairs out! Overall great experience and glad Raeven works here or I would have never found it! read more

LOVE my stylist, don't love the salon. Too religious about Aveda and too many perky cosmetologists-in-training pushing product. And while I love my stylist, she's usually to busy to dry my hair and fobs the task off on someone else. My hair is difficult to dry right, and unless my stylist does it, I walk out all frizzly. John Simmons is an amazing hair stylist! He's really an artist and no wonder - he trained extensively in London and Paris and has been cutting hair for 20 years. I always get lots of positive comments on my hair. Last time I wanted a little change, and John was so great - he listened to me and my hair turned out better than I ever thought it could! I went in on Sat evening to get something special -- lilac ombre ends! I had a few pictures and after our consult I could tell I would really like Kate. She seemed to really grasped what I wanted. Service done -- and even after having to stay late because the color didn't take the first time -- i am ecstatic! It looks better than I even imagined in the first place. I was beaming when I walked out. I noticed the next day the color went up a little further on one side then the other so I called and they evened it up free of charge! A little pricier than I was expecting but I'm not accustomed to dyeing my hair or getting anything but a trim every now and then so I'm not sure what the going rates are.
