Fantastic Hawaiian pizza and wings...umm..wait a minute. That's what I ended up eating at Gio's Pizza in Maple Glen. I could not get noticed/served at Hachi. Had a 7:30 sushi bar reservation. Got there 5 minutes early. Was seated right in front of the head chef. Laid out my martini shaker, glass, sake bottle. And, then...waited. After sitting for 15 minutes (timed), I was able to hail the hostess. She was confused but ultimately brought me ice and and bucket. The whole while, wait staff was buzzing around me, serving the couple next to me 3 separate times. At the 35 minute mark, the head chef finally had words with a waiter, and the waiter then asked me if I cared to order anything or if someone/anyone had taken my order. I calmly said I had been ignored for 35 (timed) minutes, why pay attention to me now? The head chef made a feeble attempt at explaining the situation by pointing at the numerous orders he had completed...for others. Realizing his bad form, he quickly became quite. I very rarely leave reviews but this place serves to be praised for every aspect of my meal. I ordered online for pickup and the food was prepared, ready and waiting for me even before the pickup window that was provided. I arrived a few minutes early. Since moving to Bucks County 2 years ago my choices for good quality Sushi were minimal. The only excellent place I found prior to Hachi was Ooka. None of their 3 locations were ideal but I did the drive when I wasn't willing to settle for mediocre sushi. Today I found Hachi I n Chalfont that is equal to and dare I see even exceeds Ooka. Everything was excellent. The taste and quality of the food, the portion size, the attention to detail with the presentation of my meal was exceptional! This was a takeout order so I wasn't expecting beautiful presentation with a fresh cut flower in each container. The Ikura was so French and full of flavor. The tuna was was delicious and clearly higher grade than what I am usually able to find at suburban sushi restaurants. Even something simple like Kani salad was stepped up a notch with excellent ginger dressing. Hachi could easily compete with the top notch Sushi offered in center city Phila. I am impressed by this place and excited to have a new go to spot for high quality Sushi close to home. read more

My favorite restaurant around and quite possibly the best sushi I've ever had. I do a good bit of traveling and locating the go to sushi spot anywhere I go is usually part of my agenda. For being in Bucks County, the freshness and quality of fish is consistently at the top of the game, which certainly can't be said for other sushi spots here. Plentiful and creative rolls - favorites being the D&B, Manhattan Monkey, Red Lantern, and Hachikaze. But the real star of the show is the beautifully plated sushi/sashimi offerings. The sushi lunch special is ridiculous value - if I was just a little bit closer I'd probably be here daily. The ONLY spot to to go for sushi if you're in Bucks and well worth venturing out for even if you aren't local! read more

I drive from Allentown to eat here. Yup, I drive straight past A1 Japanese Steakhouse, straight past Kome, straight past Eastern Dragon, and along that weird stretch of 309 flanked by do-it-yourself fencing places and landscaping supply stores--just to dine at Hachi. That's because it's the best damn sushi I've had outside of New York City. It's in a strip mall next to a Cheeburger Cheeburger. So what? It shares a name with a shitty Richard Gere movie about a dog. No shame. They sell Voss water. Whatever. Drop your hesitations and order the Hachi Sashimi dinner. As a dutiful chef behind the sushi bar begins preparing your feast, a server will bring you your first indication that Hachi is different: a simple bowl of miso soup prepared with dashi kombu (not bullion), diced tofu (not the rehydrated crap), and shimeji mushrooms. If you've eaten at any Lehigh Valley Super Asian Buffet, you'll notice that Hachi's miso soup doesn't taste like the watered-down dishwater you're used to. The mushrooms pop between your teeth. The aroma of the broth fills your head before the salty-umami liquid cascades down your palate. And it has ... what is this strange thing? ... oh! Flavor! The crisp greens salad with homemade ginger dressing is carefully crafted, too, but by the time you're finished chopsticking the tender leaves you notice that your sashimi bowl is nearly complete. (If you're not sitting at the bar for your meal, you're not getting the full experience, by the way.) You'll see pictures of the presentation here on Yelp (I always eat the dang thing before I remember to take a photo). The sushi dinners are artistic arrangements of edible flowers, polished stones, large dried papyrus-like leaves, and a panoply of seafood that makes a sushi lover's heart palpitate: O-sake, buri hamachi, hirame, sawara, aoyaki, sake toro, CHU toro, OH-TORO! All of the deftly sliced fish pieces sit poised atop a bed of shaved ice, begging to be devoured. I've had other menu items (try the spicy-sweet Kani Salad as an appetizer), and I've enjoyed the rolls (try the creamy-meaty Alligator). I'd love to someday venture into the soba and ishiyaki territory of the menu, but I can't bring myself to move away from the incredible sushi. Even for dessert--which would be either an order of uni nigiri, an order botan ebi (head on!), or ikura nigiri with a quail egg. If you're more of a California Roll/Pad Thai type, there are hundreds of places for you around these parts. But if you're a true lover of the way sushi used to be before crummy mega-buffets wrestled it away, then there's only one place for you: Hachi. My only qualm is that their website plays music. I yelped and googled Hachi hardcore, looked at all the pics and decided we must try Hachi! Finally, this past weekend my bf and I dined here on a beautiful Sunday, early evening. We were seated promptly, only one other couple seated not far away from our table. Their food looked amazing - I got very excited. Here we go: Environment - swanky cream neutral colors, very elegant but you don't have to be fancy pants to get through the door. You would never believe you were in a strip mall next to a chain burger joint. Seating was comfortable, table had good enough space for our food items, and a comfortable distance between each table. While no one was sat next to us, if someone was - i wouldn't feel like I put my back side in their face to get out of my seat. ha! Service - our waitress was the sweetest, most helpful, attentive but not overly intrusive waitress I've had in a long time! She was so pleasant, and offered suggestions when she had to unfortunately let me know they were out of otoro/didn't get any in yet for the season. She kept our drinks filled, and table clean. 5 stars for service! Food - Sakuro Steak: seriously YUM. Served on a scalding hot stone, teriyaki sauce poured over table side for a nice dramatic sizzle noise, this truly was a great starter. 4 bite sized pieces of steak dabbed with roasted garlic, nestled under grilled asparagus, and a grilled shishito hot pepper...I wish it was an entree..that's how much I wish there was more. Tuna Bites: Since they were out of otoro special, our waitress suggested the tuna bites (cause "sounds like you like tuna!") girl i LOVE me some tuna and these tuna bites were bangin! (yeah i said bangin!) The mango salsa on top of the pistachio coated tuna chunks had just the right kick from jalapeno. This was the one and only time I was thankful my bf doesn't eat seafood - cause I didn't want to share. Crispy Ebi Roll: at first I was like ehhh 11 bucks for a spiced up shrimp tempura roll...okay, I'll give it a go. I'm glad I did, it was great and a good serving. Two long shrimp tempura - crisp to perfection. The sauce wasn't too sweet, just enough to elevate the taste. Spicy tuna Roll: I love me some spicy tuna - but I was let down by this roll unfortunately. While it tasted good, I would not order it again. It was cooked flake tuna cut with small chunks of plain maguro tuna. It was disappointing to get basically a spicy tuna fish sandwich roll. The consistency was just that, like tuna fish salad. .5 stars off for this. Chicken & Steak Hibachi: presented nicely in a shallow bowl - came with fried rice and veggies. Ample serving of everything, the bf said it was real good - especially the fried rice being tasty. I tried some of the veggies that he doesn't eat, and they were as he said "real good"! No room for dessert - the waitress seemed disappointed cause all the desserts were "so good" - maybe next time! I cannot wait to go back, I have fallen in love with Hachi and look forward to trying some of the other rolls and their tuna special when the otoro is finally stocked! I like that their menu had a big variety and a lot of a la carte items for the hibachi portion, as well as a nice lunch special selection. Although they don't do hibachi at the table as a show, the food is just as good. I loved my scallops and veggies! The fried snap peas were amazing! I also enjoyed the brussel sprouts and everything else. The pad thai was a bit dry but still delicious. Overall, we had great service, atmosphere, food and prices. This place opened less than a week ago, but I already want to be a regular. The fish was fresh and the presentation was excellent. The prices were comparable to other restaurants in the area. The selection of fish was much more varied than the usual suburban sushi eatery. However, a couple of my selections were unavailable. Since they have only just opened, they get a free pass for that. Eventually they will find the right amount of fish to order. The Wasabi Caviar will definitely be on my list for next time - the perfect combination of flavor and spice! I would have given them 5 stars if they had nor been out of the uni and sea bass. We ordered a lot of food, including dessert. There were less expensive options, but we wanted to try many new things. This restaurant is a BYOB, and has a large, adjacent parking lot. There is a Wine and Spirits store a few steps away, in case you forget your favorite sake or wine. read more

I was really looking forward to trying Hachi last night and was un-impressed. The night did not start off well, we had reservations for 730, when we entered and told the hostess she looked confused then asked if we would mind sitting at the sushi bar!! To preface this, my wife and I have two small kids and maybe go out ourselves every 2-3 months, sushi bar was not ok, and it's not like they lost our reservation, i could see our names on the list. They got that all figured out and we sat for dinner. For appetizer we had the sakuro steak, great presentation, but steak was too tough to eat with chop sticks, shoudl be cut smaller or use different cut of meat thats more tender. Long hot on top was good. We also had the sashimi salad, just ok and fish was not great. For main course we split a bunch of sushi, overall was just ok, we have other places in the area that is much better. Had no 7 volcano, good spice but again fish was not great, also has big island which was overspiced and fatty salmon sushi - which was tough and not ok flavor. I hate giving bad reviews, especially for local places, but we had high expectations and they were not met. the ambiance was nice and place has potential, but they need to step up their game. unfortunately we don't go out much and probably will not give them another try. read more

We wanted to try a new local restaurant for my son's birthday celebration. We were pleased with the quality and creativity of the food, attentive service and upscale atmosphere. We started off with sticky ribs, carpaccio and spicy tuna bites to name a few. We had various types of sushi and dessert. The wait staff surprised my son with a dessert on the house for his birthday. It's those little things that make all the difference. It's a plus that it is a BYOB too! The staff made our experience really special and we're looking forward to going back soon. This place was an incredible value! The interior is beautiful, minimalist Asian aesthetic, so upscale and chic, it is hard to believe you are in a strip mall. Four of us ate for $100.00 and we tried items from every page of the menu. We started with several small plates, including the wasabi lobster roll, tako ping pong, and tuna bites. The presentation was outstanding, each white plate showcased the food in a clean artistic manner. We had raw scallops sliced thin and served in a citrus glaze set upon a bowl of ice. It could have served as a centerpiece. We also ordered a steak that came out on a sizzling hot stone, it was cooked perfectly and simply seasoned. My husband, who is more of a meat-and-potatoes guy, had the hibachi. It was a generous portion and he loved that you could "build your own." The desserts did not fail to impress either. The same careful presentation went into the warm chocolate cake and the fried banana bites, and both were served with tiny dishes of ice cream. Presentation of all dishes is EXCELLENT and so is the decor! Miso soup is great - this version has shiitake mushrooms which adds a slightly deeper flavor that is perfect for cold weather. Salad is good and complementary. The tacos are yummy and refreshing, and I will order them again. The negamaki and other steak dish come out sizzling on hot stones - it's beautiful, but the food is HOT and will not cool down even after 15 minutes on the stone so be careful! Sashimi does taste really good - especially liked the King Salmon. We were served by the owner who was very friendly. He said they have been open four months so far. Again, the presentation of the sashimi is especially excellent (I won't ruin the surprise by telling you what it is though). If you are going on a date this dish is a good way to express your worldliness without getting stuffed full of food to the point of incapacitation. The owner is Japanese but do not start trotting out Japanese at him or you will both end up looking 恥ずかしい (embarrassed) - trust me! He was a very attentive and informative server. Apparently he pays extra to receive fish shipments daily instead of weekly like similar restaurants - maybe this is why other reviewers mentioned that the sashimi tastes especially good? They do offer desserts but we were stuffed by the time they gave us dessert menus. A sensible future addition to the dessert menu would probably be a red bean (azuki) based dessert. The place gets deservedly packed at "prime time" so you might want to try to make reservations. Definitely recommended and will come again. read more

Having traversed the asphalt paths of numerous states and countries in search of delicious food, sushi has become somewhat of a staple source of culinary delight. Having sampled many of the most highly rated sushi spots in both Orange County, CA (my home county) I do concede that I was somewhat apprehensive when entering the modest doors of Hachi. The decor is simple, modern, and effective, but nothing different than I've come to expect from my native joints out west. It's location however, sandwiches it between a burger-and-shake spot, and a Giant grocery store... Hardly the location which you would expect to find a gem. Yet it is a true pearl which rests between these rougher edges, as Hachi proved to provide an experience well above what I've come to expect thus far with sushi. The fish was not only delicious, but offered in a rich assortment unexpected to this area. While the staples rang true (buttery Salmon, smooth Octopus, and soft and salty Spanish Mackerel), I was particularly impressed by the Arctic Char, a type of Salmon which had a distinct soft fishy addition to its profile. Our server Jessica, was no exception. She offered fantastic service throughout our dinner. This was truly a marvelous and unexpectedly pleasant sushi experience in the heart of Bucks County, Pennsylvania. read more

From the second I walked in here, I could already tell im going to have some quality food. I was a little disappointed they didnt have oysters for my gf, but they made up for it. We had the little neck clam soup to start things off and it was very good. Rainbow salad was a very good starter but I feel like its for 4 people. Its large and very filling. I forget the names of the special sushi rolls we ordered but they were all very good and were mostly combos of spicy tuna and spicy salmon. We also had a sashimi platter and it was very fresh. I posted some pictures. Ming our server who I believe is also the owner was awesome and very welcoming.... He made some recommendations and was very friendly. Our first experience was a good one. The restaurant itself is conveniently located a few doors down from a liquor store. Convenient because it is BYOB so pick up a nice pairing of wine to go with your meal. The inside is clean with a modern chic décor and nicely laid out with a sushi bar and small dining area and single bathrooms. Service was great and attentive, the prices were reasonable. The food looks like a work of art when it comes out to your table but the reviews on it was a mixed bag for me. Spicy taco trio= Average with no real spice to it. Bit too creamy for my liking Miso soup= Good flavor and better than what I have had at any other places Grilled seafood salad= Nice presentation and good portion however it was a bit on the salty side Sushi- I thought it was really good quality and flavor, but my son (who is used to your standard way of how a shrimp tempura roll is made and tastes) thought differently 48 Hour Pork Belly- I thought it was a really good combo, but would have expected the pork belly to be a bit moist and delicate. I think I would go back again (minus the kiddos) just to be able to try some of the other interesting dishes on the menu and sample more of their sushi offerings. Instead of hiking out to Doylestown for a an adults night out or date night type spot, consider trying this place out. read more

Top notch service and amazing sushi right here in Chalfont. Smaller, more intimate setting but they are able to accommodate a larger party or 2. We started off with the seven spices Edamame, which was a very tasty treat. I ordered the Black Swan off of the special rolls menu and it was by far one of the best tasting rolls I've had in a long time. It will literally melt in your mouth. We were told all of the desserts are home made so we just had to try the semi liquid chocolate cake and it surely did not disappoint. Absolutely loved our first trip up to Hachi! I wanted to try somewhere new for my birthday dinner and though it felt sacrilege to not go to our favorite sushi restaurant close to home, I'm surprised to say this place ties or potentially beats our old favorite! Really nice atmosphere, music was a little loud... kind of like I was shopping in Express, but I stop noticing after a while. Decor is great too, you'd have no idea you were in a strip mall. Menu is extensive and creative with lots of interesting flavor combinations. I wish I would of "prepped" and read the menu online before we went because I was a little over whelmed at first. We will have to come back again because there were way more things I wanted to try and my stomach is only so big. We had some kind of lettuce wrap and a chicken meatball app which were both very good. The chicken meat balls were a little bit dry, but the flavor of the sauce was good enough to negate the dryness. The lettuce wrap appetizer was by far our favorite app. Just the right balance of spice and the freshness of the fish was so delicious. We ordered the shiitake and fried shallot (?) roll, vegetable roll, No.07 Volcano, and Snow Mountain rolls. All were beautifully presented and wonderful flavors! We also ordered dessert, tempura bananas with ice cream... I think my fiancee would eat fried bananas everyday since having them. Very very good! The peanuts, mango, and honey on top were a really interesting and tasty combination. I didn't anticipate writing this much, but if you made it to the end, congratulations.
