Unbelievable. I'm not sure I will ever eat at another sushi place again. We sat at the sushi bar (wait was about 30 mins so we went and grabbed some groceries at Giant) and then sat down almost 30 mins to the minute, and watched the magic as they made the sushi in front of us. I love this place and they have done an amazing job adjusting during Covid. Payment over the phone, zero contact when you pick up. Just walk in and take your food off the numbered spot on the table in the vestibule. I adore their tempura green beans and my vegetarian child can't get enough of their vegetable fried rice. By far the best sushi we've ever had and we've dined at Michelin starred restaurants such as Sushi Ran in Sausilito when we lived there. The place is a hole in the wall in an anemic strip mall in Chalfont. Do not let this minor detail discourage you. The inside is sleek and beautiful. The staff is friendly and attentive. It's a BYOB and two doors up, there is a wine store. We had oysyers, sashimi and 4 rolls. All amazing. The himachi was an inch thick and about 3 oz. which is unheard of at shushi restaurants. The Manhattan Monkey and Snow Mountain were our favorite rolls by far. The sushi chefs take their craft very seriously. We are going to try the sushi boat next time. It came with an ice sculpture! That place serves average american chinese. This place serves average Asian fusion...from a variety of off the shelf cook books. There is nothing original here, not even the Stephen Starr inspired music. Its like they went to POD and tried to copy it...poorly. You walk in to a chalk board in the vestibule. Take a picture of it because it is nowhere to be found inside. Look at the sushi counter. To the left is a few bits of shellfish on ice. I don't know if this is for show. The other two are filled with grocery store sushi makings. Why show off the kani? Is yours different? Homemade? Its krab stick from a box. We ordered the left side of the menu. I told the waiter that I hate cilantro. Over 50% of the dishes have cilantro in the description. Almost every dish came covered in cilantro microgreens. It is still cilantro! Btw this is a steal from Bluefin in East Norriton. They throw the food at you. Out of order and several at the same time. No sequence. No break. We got king crab croquettes, average with no noticable crab and wasabi crackers with spicy tuna. A hot app and a cold app at the same time. Before that was finished I got my soup put in front of me, a clam miso soup, with sandy inedibleclams. The broth was fabulous though. Japanese cuisine does not rely upon cilantro. Chinese and vietnamese do. So we aren't japanese. Do what you do best. Oh back to the menu. Its huge. Too huge. Cut it by 2/3. The sushi was very sweet. Too much mayo. Nothing really popped. The tuna pizza sucked. Sweet. Too sweet. Unweildy to eat. What are you trying to be?! Habachi?! No habachi tables. Korean...there's galbi and gochujjang, but no real spice to anything. Went here on a date Friday 10/20/2017 @ 5:30 before a movie and all I can say is superb!. Great food and service and a fork for me. We split a tempura roll and 2 entrees, sashimi and sushi I think. Lovely presentation and taste. Can't wait to go again. I will definitely make reservations 1st this time as they were filling up even this early. Go to Umai in North Wales which is 10X better than Hachi. The food here is inconsistent which is not a good sign of a good restaurant. The servers are under staffed and the food took forever to come out. We were there for over 2:45 minutes to get our meals which came out one by one. We should of just left in hindsight. The manager is totally clueless in running this small restaurant and not friendly. No apology from him for the poor service!!! Chalfont finally has a really solid restaurant! What a gem this place is. First off, do not be fooled by its location. While it is located in a shopping center, as soon as you walk in the doors you no longer feel like you're in your typical suburban shopping center. It feels much more like an inner city restaurant. The decor is simple and chic. The music sets a mood that is both romantic (should that be your intent) and upbeat. The place is spotless - when the staff is not busy they are constantly making sure everything is clean and in order. As far as the staff goes, they are incredible. I worked in the food service industry for almost 10 years and I always appreciate attentive service. They are not only knowledgable about the menu and help you decide on what would be best for your particular taste but they're also pleasant and not pushy. The food is absolutely on point. My wife and I were recommended the restaurant by two different friends and decided to venture out on a Saturday night. We loved the food and experience so much we showed up the next day for lunch! I expect this to be a common theme for us because the menu offers so many wonderful options that one cannot get bored. You can come in and dine an wonderfully presented sushi while friends can enjoy delicious hibachi (not the kind that they make in front of you). The menu is extensive but not overwhelming. Prices are competitive and I would say even possibly on the lower end of things (probably because they don't have a liquor license and don't need to jack up the cost as much as say Ooka). Dinner was served quickly and was delicious. Lunch was no different. For $10 I got teriyaki chicken, pork dumplings, a california roll, tempura veggies, soup, and salad (the Bento Box). Can you beat that? We have not tried the sushi yet but it looks fresh and delicious. The presentations we saw were really well done. Lastly, they make everything (and I mean everything) from scratch and you can tell! They also try to source as much as they can locally which is another plus. Finally, bring your favorite drinks because its also a BYOB! Great atmosphere. Attentive service. Delicious, made-from-scratch, authentic Japanese (with a modern twist) food. Great prices. BYOB. This is what makes this spot a true gem. I cannot say enough good about Hachi. I hope they continue to be successful and that their stay in Chalfont is a permanent one. Well done. I happened in to Hachi tonight by accident. I was unaware of its existence until now and I live locally. I walked in to take a look at the menu and saw a couple of tempting items and decided to take a little something home. The decor is nice. Reminiscent of Ooka in some ways including the menu (actual physical menu...not contents). First...the positive and I mean, REALLY positive! The food was spectacular! I ordered an appetizer of Pork Belly and an Eel Dragon Roll. The Pork Belly was, first of all, piping hot...even after the 10 minute drive home! It was also really, really good....like Honey (Doylestown) good! The Eel roll was great...perfect flavors/textures. I will be going back soon and often, I'm sure. Now...while I was waiting for my takeout, I had occasion to use the restroom. Sigh.... I know it is a bathroom, and I know it is not the center of attention, but this is a stylish Japanese sushi restaurant with great food. Why would the owners completely ignore the ambiance of the restroom? First...only a one-person deal, so you have to wait outside the door if it is occupied....small place, so you can understand that. However, what I cannot understand is that inside you find a pump container of Walmart-brand hand soap (the container at least) filled with the cheapest pink generic soap refill you could possibly find and metal (step-to-open) trash container that was obviously an inexpensive afterthought that hardly works and still has the manufacturer's stickers on it. For me, these are the kinds of things that say management just isn't paying attention to the details...the WOW experience. It may be "nit-picky" but it matters to me as a patron. read more

I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, which has countless quality Japanese restaurants. Hachi really impressed me. I had the shrimp and veggie tempura, seaweed salad, the chirashi bowl (see the photo), and mochi for desert. Both the quality of the food, the presentation, and the staff were top notch. Ordered fillet mignon on a hot stone, got a few carpaccio sliced pieces of non fillet mignon cut meat. That i had to cook myself. Ordered uni sashimi ( huge mistake) the low quality made it taste like eating poop i mean that literally. Then the steamed buns with chicken teriyaki came out. Chicken taste like they freeze diced up chicken and throw it on the grill frozen for a minute and the buns that are suppose to be soft and delicate were plastic hard! Best sushi ever... when they're not busy. Do not go here during dinner rush. Sushi so bland and service is very slow. You pay $12-$14 per sushi that taste like food store bought sushi. We made a mistake coming here for dinner to celebrate us getting a house. We were expecting great service and great tasting food, but what did we get?! Disappointments. 1 sushi chef and 2 waitresses serving a room full of customers. 30 minute wait for 1 sushi roll. I hope one day they realize how great their food is when they have enough staff and hire more help to keep it going when it's busy. read more

The food tastes so authentic, unlike most of the Japanese restaurants in the burbs that offer very generic choices like teriyaki and tempura. They also offer these dishes at Hachi but they also have other choices. We tried the Toban Yaki with salmon: very good. We also had the Alligator roll and No 7 Volcano roll. My dining partner liked the Alligator roll, I liked the Volcano roll though it seemed like they had cooked salmon inside. I think they should have used raw salmon instead. The jalapeno added a fresh flavor to the roll. We ended our entree with king yellowtail nigiri. The quality of this fish was very good. For dessert we had Yuzu-ginger Crème brûlée and Green Tea ice cream. Yuzu sorbet tasted as expected though it was a bit chunky. The crème brûlée had a hint of ginger. The ice cream had won ton strips along with fresh fruit which was a welcome addion to just ice cream as most places will do. BYOB read more

The take out is stellar from Hachi--quite thrilled with their addition to the Shopping Center of Death--here's to hoping Hachi is with us for the long haul! Came here valentine's day (mid snow storm) due to a change in plans because..yanno. snow (We live right around the corner and could have walked if need be)--the only bad experience was a lack of service leaving us for over 30 minutes without seeing anyone .. despite only 2 other tables 1 of which was being doted upon. Now, with that being said, the HOST saw our growing frustration (we were about to leave) and was absolutely outstanding. He saved our meal. He was funny, personable and gave us OUTSTANDING service. The food did not disappoint, we ordered 3 or four appetizers (including the pork belly buns, which I highly recommend ), a few entrees and an order of Spicy tuna roll. All of the food was good and we were sent with leftovers so we wouldn't have to deal either the sloppy roads the next day to get food unless we wanted to. With that being said, I'll give their dine in another shot--I understand there's going to be a bad day..and that day may be a snow-stormy valentines day! Their takeout has always been prompt and accurate (I've yet to have an error ), their hibachi is good however a bit on the saltier side (I'm however a bit sensitive to sodium, bleh) and on a few occasions the chicken in the hibachi meals had been dry. The pieces of chicken, however are on the smaller chunked side and I could see how it may be difficult (especially while preparing a combination order ) to gauge the moisture levels while still ensuring it is not undercooked. I can deal chicken that's a bit dry, if it means I'm not going to bite into a cool, raw, pink center (its happened to me elsewhere) Their fried rice is delicious, and is even better the next day (or, maybe I'm just a weirdo who likes cold leftover fried rice)! I've worked at different sushi restaurants in the area so I am a bit picky when it comes to my sushi. I always see Hachi when I come to my local wine and spirits and the interior looked beautiful but I never really wanted to give it a try. Finally, I give it a shot last week for lunch. Whenever I go to eat sushi for lunch I almost always order a chirashi, which is simply chefs choice of sashimi on top of the chefs version of sushi rice. When I first saw the bowl, it was beautiful. And oh boy was it good. The one missing star is for the mackeral (I think it was mackerel ?) I am not sure. I never asked. I assume by the taste it must be mackeral. Mackerel usually has a very fishy taste, but this one seemed a bit over the edge. Nevertheless I destroyed all of it, except mackerel and my girlfriend ordered the salmon spicy bowl, which is essentially like the spicy salmon inside a maki on top of a bed of rice.
