Service, Food, Ambience. It's all here at Hacienda Real. Hands down the best Mexican food I've had in a while. Especially coming out of Fort Collins Colorado. 6 Stars

    Disgusting sloppy mess

Ordered with uber eats while staying across the street at the La Quinta. The only thing edible was the asada plate, the tostada I ordered went straight in the trash. Didn't even receive my whole order. Paid $96 and I'm extremely disappointed and upset at how nasty this experience was.

    Molcajete real

Service was excellent but the food was even better. Got molcajete real and carne asada both prepared to perfection. Can't wait for the next time!

After a long day of travel, we were tired, hungry and ready to call it a day. Hacienda Real to the rescue. Literally across the street from our hotel, I broke a personal rule and ordered through GrubHub. To my amazement, they got the order right. And delivered within 30 minutes. The food? Very good. And not just because we were hangry. The shrimp salad had lots of shrimp, but they skimped on the lettuce. They made up for the lack of lettuce with extra black beans and guacamole we requested. I ordered a trio of enchiladas. Each with a different filling and sauce. And to my surprise they all had individual flavors, each packed with chicken, pork & cheese & spinach. Again, very good. I'd stop in again if I'm ever in the area. For locals who haven't been here, I suggest you give Hacienda Real a try. I'm glad we did.

Good service, good food, and generously poured margaritas! The pollo con crema was tasty, but I wouldn't order it again. It's very rich and kind of a one-note flavor. Mom raved about the chile relleno and husband loved the burrito.

The food is great, service kind, and atmosphere comfortable... can't ask for more! Chips salsa and bean dip are free. I really enjoy the Flacos Tacos with steak - healthy too!

Great service, fun nicely decorated restaurant with good ambiance. Served chips, salsa with refried beans, all were very tasty. My husband had the Ceviche which had a very generous helping of squid and shrimp and other tasty fish, he enjoyed this dish. I had the Chilaquiles Con Huevo, it was good, but not what I had expected. I was thinking scrambled eggs on the side, this was nachos with scrambled eggs stirred into the chips. There was a very generous helping of sour cream and cheese. Not bad, but I will order something different next time. Again, the wait service was spot on and over all good food.

An unexpected visit to Ft. Collins today led me to Hacienda Real for the very first time. The aromas that wafted through the front door immediately let me know I was in the right place for a delightful dinner. Mine was a plate with two perfect fish tacos. Light, loaded with fish, slaw, avocado, and sauce. As we were there for my brother's 60th birthday, we ordered dessert. He had the Strawberry Chimichanga, and I had the Sopapillias. YUMMY!!! Mine was light, crispy, and fried to perfection. Our server, Alex, was funny, professional, and very knowledgeable about the menu. I am not in Ft. Collins often, but if I am in the area, I will be back.

    Green Chili Chimichanga

The cupboard was bare so we dropped into Hacienda Real for dinner. I wanted to try something new so ordered the Green Chile Chimichanga with Carnitas. My wife ordered the Ala Carte Enchilada (with sour cream). The enchilada was good albeit not great. And it didn't come with lettuce and tomatoes ... strange. My Chimi was very good and included a generous portion of Carnitas which was great as there was an up charge for the carnitas ... not for beef, chicken or pork but Carnitas was +$1.00. I guess we've reached a point in the economy where any non-standard add-on adds to the cost of dinner. The tastes of my chimi were subtle ... I was expecting a bit more of a punch. Still it was satisfying. Of course we'll go back but we'll likely be a bit more specific in our ordering, e.g., inquiring into levels of spice and toppings, etc. Not that we didn't like what we got but in today's economy with the price of eating out we want to really get what we're paying for.

Her culinary knowledge was clear, and pointed us in the right direction in regards to cocktails & wine selections-- what a great way to start the meal off. The food was beyond incredible. We started with "Clam Chowd'ah". Let me mention that I grew up in the Northeast, vacationing in New England my entire life, and this soup is spot on to the real thing-- a true MUST order, along with some delicious French bread & butter was all a wonderful starter. For dinner, our table ordered the "Hazel Dell Mushroom Wellington," a vegetarian magnum opus to be sure-- crispy & decadent, yet delicate pastry filled will savory mushrooms, yum! We also ordered the "Braised Colorado Short Rib" that fell apart with a fork only, no knives needed it was so tender! And finally, we ordered the "Maine Scallop Risotto." Tender, delicate scallops, not tough in the slightest gently placed on perfectly cooked risotto the way it's supposed to be, slightly loose, and not gluey-- the flavor was rich & tasty! Utter perfection, and my favorite dish of the night if its even possible to pick one from the incredible cornucopia of masterful dishes. Finally, we ended with sharing the Flourless Chocolate Torte (a la mode)-- a lovely, perfect way to end this perfect meal. Rarely do ALL the elements of a meal come together. Amazing, warm service with knowledgeable staff, and every single dish, every single bite was unforgettable. My highest recommendation I have given in quite some time-- what a treat indeed!

But this was genuinely some of the best Mexican-inspired food of my LIFE! As a vegetarian, Mexican food tends to be hit or miss when it comes to creative meat substitutes. Blue Agave chose fried avocado tacos as its offering, and WOW. They were truly amazing. Life changing. Well spiced, the right amount of filling in each taco, and the avocado itself was perfectly ripe and fried well without much residual grease. Not only that, but the side beans and rice were incredible. The portions were generous and spiced magically- I could eat just the beans and rice as a dish on its own. I was also astounded by how the grilled corn sauce was thick and saucy, but tasted EXACTLY like elote- some kind of culinary magic. This place may be slightly pricier, but the food portions are large and I cleaned my plate and left feeling stuffed. My companions couldn't finish their beans and rice, and if I didn't think I was going to explode I would have cleaned their plates, too. I'm glad I don't live in FoCo or else I would go broke eating here. I cannot recommend it enough, especially those avocado tacos. I will be dreaming of them for years. The restaurant was a little jammed when I visited and some might find the atmosphere overwhelming, but I would say it's absolutely worth it. Seriously, if you're going to one place in FoCo, go here.
