I came here this past cinco de mayo for a margarita. Me and all of my friends got denied. One of my friends is 25 and the other is 23. I am also 21. The manager wouldn't even take the time to look at our ID's. It was just very disappointing because we offered to let them scan our ID's or call the cops. I grew up in Carrollton. The Lazy Donkey was the most amazing Mexican Restaurant within 50 miles minimum. Everything was fresh made and just unbelievable. This is not that Lazy Donkey. This is a subpar Mexican restaurant to say the least. Chips? Bagged grocery store chips would be an upgrade. Salsa? Tomato sauce with some salt added. I was impressed with the charro beans but everything else was very unimpressive. It's so sad that the original owners sold the restaurant name for this. If you come down Bankhead and see the Lazy Donkey, keep driving. read more

Are here on Father's Day. The food was great, the menu had a lot of unique choices on it. We were pleasantly surprised. Way better than the typical dime a dozen Mexican restaurants. Our server was Simmy, I hope I spelled it right. He was awesome. Very patient with us as we all tried to decide what entree to choose. He always had a smile and was extremely attentive. I'm with the other guy who was disappointed. It has been a couple of years since I've been there, having previously eaten there 6 times over the years. I've always enjoyed it. This time, not so much. My friend took me there for my birthday. The chips tasted like slightly stale dollar store chips with no salt; too dry to have a shake or two stick, and the salsa was very much like canned tomato sauce with a little bit of spice added to it. Meh. It was kind of busy, but it wasn't full and they looked to have a full staff. My friend ordered a combo plate, and I ordered chicken and beef fajitas with the intention of taking leftovers home. Our waiter asked if I wanted vegetables with it, or just meat, which I thought was kind of weird. Obviously I want the vegetables (maybe they throw a lot if them out? If so, fair question). My friend's food came out. After about ten minutes I got up and found a guy I thought was a manager and politely asked about my food. He asked what I had ordered, and ran off. When my food came out another 5-7 minutes later, our waiter slapped down my plate and ran off, not even a "sorry!". I was a waitress off and on for years, so I know how to do the job. If I had dropped the ball like that, especially with a customer who had a birthday card on the table, an apology is in order, heck the manager should apologized and comped me dessert. A refill on my lemonade or water might've been nice, too. My friend paid $20 for my plate of food. She was embarrassed by the service. The food was OK, but I put a high value on good service and I've got to say, this time it kind of sucked. I understand it's a post-pandemic world. Hopefully they'll get back up to the 4-5 stars I remember. P.S. I only noticed this the 6th time I ate there. That donkey sitting out front is.....excited and goin' commando. Ok I'm a server so I know the industry and how it works, but never in all my experiences have I been treated like trash!! I came for lunch with my husband and best friend and she ordered soft taco when the brought crunchy tacos, so when we told the server, who couldn't speak English, there was already a language issue, so another lady came over, she was nice at first so supposedly was told they would fix the meal but she never brought her new tacos, so we complained to manager and basically he told us that he didn't need or want our money and told us to leave!! What?!! All we wanted was the correct order, so the manager didn't care at all!! StI'll didn't get the food so never will we eat there again, plus I had so much cilantro on my plate it looked like someone cut grass over my plate!!! Server messed up the drink and food orders besides needing excessive social skill training. Fajita salads only had 3 ingredients, lettuce, unmelted cheese and cold meat. This place has been around forever! We decided to meet up with some old friends here before the parties started for the holidays so came around 8pm on a Sunday. "Patio" seating (plastic roof and walls) was warm enough even in late December and it is a bit easier for bigger groups. I ordered some food for a late supper and they also brought out the salsa and chips. I had two sangrias (I usually can only drink one, these were a bit weak) and the sopapilla ice cream for dessert - good, but they used to make it fancier with more ice cream, I won't be ordering that again. A new bar and paved parking add to the improvements. And the food is great! I keep giving this place a chance but unfortunately it keeps getting worse. Came here for a family lunch after church. Understanding there was a large church crowd we were patient at first but as the crowd left the service was not up to par. Was sat at a table that had food on it, took 10+ mins before we received any drinks. Cheese dip was trash, just watered down and tasteless. Received wrong food and decided to keep it just to eat with the rest of the group but caught an attitude when we questioned the charge when it wasn't what was originally ordered. Came to Georgia to visit family and they recommended this place. It's a fun place and good for having dinner with the whole family. Great lunch prices for a yummy meal. We were a little worried at first when they were leading us to their outside area. It had been snowing the day before. However, they've made outside just as warm as inside. That was pretty cool. Their lunch menu boasts awesome prices. You can get a full meal for $6. I ended up getting a shrimp taco salad (not on the lunch menu). I had a craving for shrimp. I know what you think, who orders shrimp at a mexican place? Well, jokes on you, because the shrimp was actually very good! They did not skimp on the shrimp at all. I felt like my meal was basically shrimp, lettuce, and beans. I wasn't very impressed with the guacamole. I like it better chunky than liquidy and this one was basically liquid. However, overall I really enjoyed the taco salad. I was a little afraid it would be huge, but it was the perfect size. I would call it medium. They bring you chips and salsa and that was tasty as well. Service was prompt and food came quickly. The best food in town as far as Mexican dishes go! The staff is usually super friendly and the prices are pretty great. I would give it five stars but, legit, the last four times we've come, we've been served by the same waitress who never refills our drinks or checks on us and took her a minimum of 30 minutes each time to pick up the check (it would sometimes take more time and we would just go pay at the counter.) we understand things get busy but each time she'd "disappear" it was in a corner beside the bar playing on her phone or talking. Food was okay-typical Mexican American chain food. Atmosphere - LOUD. So loud I thought it was 11pm at a bar., yet I was there at 6 on a week night. Clearly this isn't all their fault: men talking on cells, table of women celebrating something, parents with kids who don't have any concern fo others in the vicinity. Here's the biggest problem we had: the company won't take tips out of gift cards! We had a $50 gift card and our tab was $30. I wanted to give a $6 tip. Yeeeeeah, I'm not sure why so many people rave about this place. It's "meh" at best. Much better Mexican food down the street at what we affectionately call "El Wendy's." DO NOT order anything here via Uber Eats! They have no idea what they are doing. I ordered through Uber Eats and did not get what I ordered. When I called back to correct the order, LD claimed they didn't work through UE and it was all a scam. I had ordered through UE one week prior, same order, and it was perfect. The lady handled the order perfectly. THIS TIME, one week later, these two male managers didn't know what they were doing. Neither one would listen or rectify the issue. I ended up paying over $8.00 for ONE enchilada. It was supposed to be a meal and I didn't revive the rest of the order. He blamed UE. I'll never order anything from them again! Lazy Donkey- My favorite restaurant that I go to every week is one of my favorite places to be. They have the BEST rice and cheese dip. They have amazing service and wait time. I really enjoy it every time I go. No Mexican restaurant can compare to the Lazy Donkey. Every time I go, it gets better. There's no way to describe how perfect the rice is or how creamy the cheese dip is. You can tell that it's all real. The place is also clean. It's definitely underrated. Worst Mexican Food Ever! I know this is Georgia, but come on, even Taco Bell is better than this place. Seeing that there were several Hispanics working there, I expected better than this. To play it safe, I ordered the Chile Relleno. Expecting to get a nice poblano pepper stuffed with meat and/or cheese, dipped in egg white batter and fried and served with a ranchero sauce on top is usually standard. This place encases a small strip of poblano pepper and loads of watery white cheese in a corn dog type batter and then deep fries it. I was in Carrollton for a high school graduation, with a party here afterwards. We had a BIG group. By big, I mean, we took up an entire room, maybe 30-35 people. We had to servers taking care of us and they were very attentive. I was never without a drink and they kept swirling around with more chips, drinks and just generally taking care of us. The salsa needs help. It almost had a ketchup consistency with no chunks which is not good. The food was fine. I got a combo plate that had an enchilada, taco and chalupa. No rice or beans included.
