Cottage Sonoma agreed to a longer rental as they knew we were in a bind, but I believe they are normally shorter term vacation rentals. The house is wonderful. It is the most prepared and stocked vacation rental I have ever been in. The owner's have tried to think of everything that could improve a guests experience. A kitchen you can truly cook in - and we love to cook. The house gets a ton of natural light and has a warm feeling to it. It is located about a 1 minute walk from the Sonoma Square so the location basically couldn't be better. The back yard is gorgeous, private, and the hot tub works wonderfully. With some research we found Chien Blanc Bungalows, a part of NapaVacationHomes.com rentals. Pros - Chelsea, who booked our stay, was very communicative through email with our reservation and provided detailed check in and check out requirements for the rental. - Upon arriving there was plenty of parking in front of the rental and our bungalow was easy to find. We stayed in the Avignon Bungalow. - The Avignon Bungalow was very homey and comfortable (they recently updated the interiors of their bungalows so disregard previous pictures and reviews). I love that we had a kitchen to cook and to store any wine or food that we may be eating or drinking. The mini vanity was my favorite! - As the weather warmed up, we were able to enjoy the gardens on site as well as the outdoor furniture. It was uber romantic! - Love the option of the community room, however, we weren't able to use it during our stay. - Also LOVED the option to pre-order wine for our stay. I loved walking into our bungalow to a bottle of wine that me and my boyfriend can enjoy while we take it all in. Make sure to get the Chelsea Vineyards wine! It's one of their own and you can't get it elsewhere! - While the owners of the bungalows were pretty hands off, which is what we wanted, Chelsea was open to suggesting restaurants and wineries to try which was super helpful. FYI-Calistoga offers a shuttle which picks you up and it's only for a buck!!!! - Last but not least, Location! Location! Location! I can't stress how awesome it was to stay at Chien Blanc Bungalows!! No more than two blocks were many restaurants, coffee shops, stores, a grocery store, and most importantly, winetasting rooms! We didn't have to get into the car to drive anywhere and we didn't have to risk drinking and driving! Cons - I own an iPhone 5s, I know it's a dinosaur. So please disregard my crummy photos as they don't do any justice for Avignon. - We couldn't stay an extra day. I recommend that your stay be at least three days. Two days just wasn't enough for us. - That I didn't get proposed to. (hahaha, no pressure!) All in all, I highly recommend Chien Blanc Bungalows!! We will be back! (in the Arnold voice)

What a cool place to stay in while in Napa valley!…read more Calistoga is a small, charming town full of restaurants and shops to explore. Not to mention, there are many nearby wineries! The Chien Blanc Bungalows are also within walking distance to the main street of town. There are three bungalows and we stayed in the Avignon bungalow. It had a cool red living room and a 1940's kitchen. While a bit outdated, it definitely adds to the charm and my dad had fun figuring out how to light the stove. The bungalow contains one bedroom and the couch in the living room has a pull-out trundle underneath. Both beds can comfortably sleep 2 people each. There's also a game room, but not in the modern sense. It is a cool space though with board games, videos, and tv, darts on the wall, and a pool table. This place also has a great grill for use and my dad enjoyed cooking steaks and hamburgers for dinner. There's a market in town "Cal Mart" that is a two block walk away where you can find food to cook. Otherwise, those restaurants on the main street are also within walking distance. Cute and convenient place!

I'm going to admit that I've never stayed in "a cottage" and only at a B&B many, many years ago…read more(and I didn't pay). I'm also kind of a City-guy. So, I'm a bit apprehensive when people tell me they won't be there to let me in - that I can just follow the instructions! Yet, it was as easy as they explained. So, thank you Gayle for answering my repetitive questions! We saw a living social getaway and decided to jump on the opportunity. I' glad we did. The cottages themselves were charming, spacious, and clean. They came with a number of games and books. Even though they don't have anyone on site, getting in and out was really easy. The size of the cottages would actually facilitate a family really well. Unfortunately, we couldn't figure out how to work the tv, but weren't there to watch it anyways, so no worries there. The deal came with a bike rental and percentage off on one item in the store. While in theory it's great to bike around Sonoma, I would note that Napa Street is a pretty major thoroughfare into town (one of those that say the speed limit is 25 but everyone drives 40). It might not have been a big deal had the bikes we got been road bikes instead of mountain bikes and were in better shape! I'd also recommend getting some new locks that don't stick and teaching the staff in front to be a little more helpful. Alas, we did take advantage on the first day to bike around town. Definitely a good way to get around, even if getting back is a bit harry! Overall, a good experience. I'd definitely consider it again on our next trip to Sonoma.

There were initially some issues with dynamic pricing, but they were able to correct things on the back end, which was much appreciated. The main building and breakfast area are both very warm and inviting. The couches and seats are comfortable. There are games and books in the cabinet areas too. The chef provides a tasty breakfast each day, with the menu slightly changing. There is coffee, tea, and hot/cool water available all day. It can get a little crowded at breakfast, so if you are in a large group, go either very early or very late. The afternoon happy hour is pretty relaxed with some offerings of cheese, crackers, and wine. Be sure to ask for gluten-free options, as they have them available. They also prepared nice chocolates for my parents (anniversary) and a cookie for my nephew (birthday), which was a lovely touch. The rooms are fine, some are a little darker and/more dated, but that didn't bother us. The one thing that I would've done differently, is to bring an eye mask and ear plugs. Depending on where your room is located, you could be facing the main street. The doors in certain buildings would slam pretty loudly, so if you had neighbors returning late at night, you would definitely hear them. I am a little fussy with beds, and I found the Vitners King (seemed more like a Cali King?) bed to be a little firm and transferred movement easily. We would consider splurging for the updated rooms next time. Bonus that they have cruiser bikes to borrow. It was very nice to go for a quick ride one of the mornings. The location is fantastic, it's within walking distance to downtown. There are so many great restaurants to visit. In addition, wineries and parks are also a close drive away. I had high hopes for this Four Sisters Inn when booking a King room for three nights as a stop…read morebetween San Francisco and Southern California. The location is excellent, with the plaza, downtown restaurants, shopping, and a lovely park all within easy walking distance. Parking was also convenient and free. Throughout our stay, the staff members we encountered were pleasant and welcoming. The inn also offered complimentary wine-and-cheese each afternoon, which was a nice touch. Our first-floor King room (number 7) overlooked the parking lot and was located right off the lobby. The room was dark, dated, and much smaller than expected. It felt sparse and lacked adequate horizontal surfaces. With only one luggage rack and limited space to set luggage, our second suitcase had to sit on a small corner table. We requested an additional rack, but none were available. The décor was underwhelming--blank walls with no artwork, covered hanging light bulbs instead of bedside lamps, and two chairs that looked in need of reupholstering. While there was a fireplace, using it comfortably required moving furniture, which then made circulation around the bed tight. The bathroom also needed updating; it was small with a tub/shower/plastic curtain, poorly lit, and had minimal counter space. A permanent sign instructing guests to run the sink slowly--due to known drainage issues--was an unfortunate detail that stood out. And the downside of a first-floor room with limited sound insulation was significant noise from the room above as well as in the hallway, which was at times disruptive.  Breakfast was included and changed daily. Chef Sal deserves particular praise--his breakfasts, homemade breads, and cookies were excellent and easily a highlight of the stay. The only disappointment at breakfast was the coffee, which was extremely weak and never hot enough. Fortunately, there's a Peet's Coffee directly across the street, and judging by the number of fellow inn guests we saw there each morning, we weren't alone in that assessment. Overall, while the location and breakfasts were strong positives, the room quality made this stay a disappointment given the price point. There are likely better options in the area. On a positive note, we continued on to Milliken Creek Inn in Napa (another Four Sisters property) which we found to be outstanding in every respect-a gorgeous, impeccably managed property.
