This style developed from the French-speaking Acadians who were chased out of Canada following the French and Indian War in the 18th century. They settled in Louisiana and adapted their cooking to the local ingredients. Located on Teaneck Road in Teaneck, we were recommended this establishment for their soft opening dinner by our friends. A reservation was made by calling this restaurant. Upon arrival, my partner, our friends, and I managed to find parking shared with other stores. We were excited to try out Creole / Cajun cuisine as first-timers at Medley's Bayou. For some of us, Cajun food usually has a kick to it. Contrary to popular belief, an authentically prepared Cajun dish does not involve eye-watering heat. Greeted by the host at the door, we made our way to a table inside their small, warm, and inviting vibe with a stage for live music. The selective menu features fresh, lively, made-to-order Louisiana-inspired classics. As an appetizer, we decided on Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes and Jumbo Lump Crab Bisque Soup. For our main meal, we opted for the Ribeye Steak with Spanish Rice, Ribeye Steak with Cajun Fries, Stuffed Lobster Tail with Crab, and Lemon & Herb Chicken. Complimentary Teriyaki & Fresh Ginger Wings and Pineapple Cornbread started our meal. Our meal took a while, but we knew it was made fresh: nothing frozen or re-heated. The food was bold and more about the layering of smoky, garlicky, peppery flavors than about heat. I was so looking forward to some beignets and sadly didn't have them, which calls for another visit. The portions were just right, and the price was comparable to the area. Our server was Heather, who was friendly and made sure our glass was filled. Howard, the owner and head chef, welcomed every patron by making small talk. Those who have never tasted Louisiana-inspired food need only try it once to experience the richness and depth of its flavors.

First of all... you simply cannot beat the pricing!!! All movies beginning before 3pm are just $8! After 3pm, adults are $10 and children (under 12) + senior citizens are $9. Unbeatable prices. You can buy your ticket(s) online and they'll email you the QR code. Note that there's a 50 cent fee. It's located on a busy main street, so street parking can be tough. Luckily there's a free municipal lot around the corner. So if you don't mind walking a block or so, park there! Yes, it's outdated and a little dingy. But I think it adds to the nostalgic charm. Carpets and wallpapers with funky patterns, retro arcade games, antique artifacts, vintage photos... such a throwback! They have a concessions station with your favorite snacks like popcorn, nachos, and candy. Not a lot of food options like the big name theaters, but the prices are a lot lower. You can even get free refills on popcorn and fountain drinks when you purchase the largest size. They only show four movies at a time with limited showtimes, so that can be a drawback. But they do have a good selection of first-run films for both children and adults. Of course, you get what you pay for. This isn't AMC Theatres lol. The theaters are small, so I would suggest coming early during popular times, especially if you're watching a newly released film. There aren't reserved seats, so first come first serve. No stadium seating. The chairs are leather and were comfortable with enough leg room. No recliner. There's a small table with a cup holder for each seat. I didn't experience any technical issues during the movie. Visual and audio quality were clear. They have a surround sound system and the screens were the perfect size. I watched a 6pm showing on a Thursday and had the whole theater to myself. I loved it. You can even book a private event or birthday party. I'll be coming here more often. Keep supporting your local movie theaters :')

Music was full of fun, actors were so talented as much as to make the audiences believe their characters are real. The dinner course provided various options all of which of course were delicious. Especially, the story, which everyone can enjoy easily, went along well with the music from experienced jazz players. This combination strongly supported the actors' showmanship which leads the audiences to be a part of the show. If you ask me what made this show even more special, I would say the auction scene. In that part, all of the audiences became dealers with their fake money which was handed just before the show. It was amazing! I had so much fun. I would love to see this show again in other chance.

The storyline was awesome and everyone got to play a role: some friendships, some backstabbing. It was hilarious to see everyone get into their characters. The production crew made sure everything ran smoothly and that we didn't run astray but still allowed the story to manifest according to what each character was saying. Having a private venue with small bites being passed around and a bartender elevated the party to the next level. It's been almost a week and everyone is still talking about it. I am so so grateful I found Truffles Mystery Immersive and Sonia!
