There's something charming about an old school movie theater. Teaneck Cinemas is an affordable and enjoyable option for watching newly released films. First of all... you simply cannot beat the pricing!!! All movies beginning before 3pm are just $8! After 3pm, adults are $10 and children (under 12) + senior citizens are $9. Unbeatable prices. You can buy your ticket(s) online and they'll email you the QR code. Note that there's a 50 cent fee. It's located on a busy main street, so street parking can be tough. Luckily there's a free municipal lot around the corner. So if you don't mind walking a block or so, park there! Yes, it's outdated and a little dingy. But I think it adds to the nostalgic charm. Carpets and wallpapers with funky patterns, retro arcade games, antique artifacts, vintage photos... such a throwback! They have a concessions station with your favorite snacks like popcorn, nachos, and candy. Not a lot of food options like the big name theaters, but the prices are a lot lower. You can even get free refills on popcorn and fountain drinks when you purchase the largest size. They only show four movies at a time with limited showtimes, so that can be a drawback. But they do have a good selection of first-run films for both children and adults. Of course, you get what you pay for. This isn't AMC Theatres lol. The theaters are small, so I would suggest coming early during popular times, especially if you're watching a newly released film. There aren't reserved seats, so first come first serve. No stadium seating. The chairs are leather and were comfortable with enough leg room. No recliner. There's a small table with a cup holder for each seat. I didn't experience any technical issues during the movie. Visual and audio quality were clear. They have a surround sound system and the screens were the perfect size. I watched a 6pm showing on a Thursday and had the whole theater to myself. I loved it. You can even book a private event or birthday party. I'll be coming here more often. Tickets can be purchased on their easy to use website. The prices are unbeatable, and there is an extra discount (for matinee) on the already low rate, making this theater truly accessible for most families. Try to arrive twenty minutes in advance if you are seeing a popular movie during a desirable time. As you can't reserve seating, this will guarantee you can select the best seats and your party can sit together. Concession prices are very fair as well. We went for a day time movie and we were the only ones in the theater. When the movie or ads did not start 10 minutes after the starting time. We went to the front of the theater and waited another 5 minutes. NO ONE WAS THERE to assist us. Poor excuse for a theater. Do not patronize them. read more

This evening we planned to see Naked Gun 2 at the Teaneck Cinemas. We purchased tickets on line on 13 Aug. Upon arrival at the theatre and presenting our QR code, we were informed by the manager that Naked Gun 2 would not be showing. We were offered passes to see another movie at Teaneck Cinemas. When asking the manager why this movie was not being shown, he very casually stated that the owner determined that showing this movie would a financial loss and decided not to show it. This decision was made without consideration of the patrons, who purchased tickets in advance. The theater has both the patrons email address and cell phone number. But they never sent either an email or a text message informing of this decision. We drove a half and hour to see this movie. We were disappointed that they had the ability to notify us in advance but chose not to. We asked for a refund, we were told that they couldn't refund a portion of what we spent, probably a service fee. We told the manager that was unacceptable. We wanted a full refund! The manager seemed befuddled as to what to do. He gave us back $19.00. I'm not certain what the difference was between what we spent and the $19.00. My suggestion is; DO NOT PATRONIZE ANY BUSINESS WHERE THR OWNER HAS SUCH DISREGARD FOR THEIR CUSTOMERS, AND VALUES MONEY MORE THAN WERE THE SOURCES OF THAT REVENUE COMES FROM. Arrived at theater in time to see our chosen movie with prepaid tickets we bought online and was told they decided to cancel the showing that we are scheduled to see so we had to leave. They refunded our money but that's not what we really wanted. We wanted to see the movie we came for I will never go back to the theater again. Make sure if you buy tickets that they're still showing the movie you want. They only refunded our money after we complained because they were going to just give us passes and that was not acceptable. read more

This is a small local movie theater. When going here it is located on a busy road so it is best to park in the parking lot around the corner. The theater is pretty small with only about 4 theaters I believe. The best thing about this place is all movies before 6pm are only $5. You can't beat that. After 6 l think it goes up to about $7 which is still a bargain. Once you buy your tickets there is a small concession area which has some snacks and the regular movie theater food such as popcorn and nachos. Everything in the concession stand is also cheap compared to other theaters. The theaters themselves aren't The best, but you get what you pay for. If you just want to see a movie and don't care about reclining chairs or super high definition quality than this is the place for you. I haven't been to this theater since the late 80's, possibly the early 90's. It was so shabby and worn down. We decided to go see "It" today and we were both super impressed with the renovated theater! New seats, new carpet, new decorations, new everything! The employees were very nice, the prices at the concession stand were good, and the place was clean. The theaters were pretty small, but not overcrowded, the seats were comfy, and the temperature inside was perfect. Picture and sound were also on point. I have read many reviews on this theater and I am very impressed by the responses given. Example: One person said it's hard to see a movie on the second floor because they are disbaled (I am also disabled). The owner/manager replied that if they are told the day before, they will move the movie downstairs for them! Another reviewer posted how they drove 30 minutes in the freezing rain for a bday party there, and by the time they got there, it had been cancelled. The owner/manager saw how sad the little girl was so he put them in a theater and played the movie for them. Awesome customer service! I was seriously blown away by these 2 things. More positives: the prices! $5 before any movie before 6pm, any day! $7 after 6. Plus check deals of dealflicks.com. We got 2 tickets, 2 medium sodas, and a large popcorn for $11.20! What?! Negatives: Parking can be annoying, but who cares for that price. I also wish they would put one more handicapped bathroom downstairs. I'm so happy I decided to check this theater out. This place is awesome! We actually strolled by it on a Friday night while waiting for takeout down the street and became determined to return the next day to see a movie. Returned on Saturday afternoon to see Roadrunner. Paid $12 for two tickets and another $10 for popcorn, soda and a candy. Did we go back in time?? Despite the 1990s pricing and the vintage marquee, everything inside is updated and beautiful. There are four theaters and the seats are spacious and comfortable. There were only about 10 people in our theater, plenty of room to spread out! Bathrooms are upstairs which may be a problem for some but it's worth the trip to see some old school movie equipment. Everyone working was nice and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Will be back regularly! read more

I have see this theatre on many occasions but never went inside. Until last week and I was in for a real surprise a real neighborhood cinema. multiple theatres inside the theatre. The seat are comfortable and the popcorn addictive. We ate the whole bucket. Anyone in the area or in the town should run to this clean, comfortable theater that has first run movies right in town. Great ice cream parlor across the street Bishoffs. Great restaurants up and down the street. I had one of my best movie experiences watching Top Gun in this neighborhood theatre. Great place for a family outing with out the big over priced movie experience. BTW tickets are 6 dollars. read more

Great theatre!! They play new movies at a discounted price. $5 before 6pm and $7 after, can't beat that. Even the concession stand is discounted, compare to the big theatre's like AMC. They renovated it a few years back and the seats are pretty comfy. I love that they have pictures of what the theatre use to look like inside prior to the renovations. I had a bunch of friends who used to work there when it was called Teaneck 4, so this place is packed with lots of memories. I wonder if they still do Rocky Horror Picture Night at midnight. This place has supplanted Starplex in Ridgefield Park as my go-to theater. Sure I sacrifice the leatherette power recliners, but it's worth it for $5 matinee tickets. The concession stand has some pretty good deals as well. The only downside is the parking can get tricky during busy hours. There are free municipal lots a block or two over so don't be lazy and walk! The place isn't the cleanest or most modern, but prices alone make this a 4-star establishment. read more

It is what it is: a really old movie theater that's been slightly renovated to be somewhat acceptable by today's theater expectations. The entire place is small and gives off that old-school movie experience feeling you had as a kid, if you're old enough to remember. Cheap tickets & concession but you get what you pay for. Small theaters for each movie (only a few shown at a time) with almost-level seating so if you are on the shorter side, the seat in front of you may be too tall, not to mention the person who might sit in it! Seating is pretty limited but the chairs do rock a little. The quality of the audio & picture isn't bad. I actually watched a movie in a Dolby theater. Not sure if there are others here but in this particular theater the sound was surround and the picture was clear. But the screen itself was small, but at least was proportional to the size of the room / number of seats. It seems to attract the older demographic, which I don't mind, but during the movie it seemed to be common that they talk to each other out loud. And there appeared to be no elevator so they also had to climb the stairs... But clearly it's a popular local favorite if that doesn't stop them from coming out! It's not an amazing theater with IMAX or reserved seating or reclined chairs or even hot dogs. It's bare bones but for what it is and what if offers, it deserves the rating I gave. read more

The perks: employees are super nice and the ticket prices are amazingly low ($7 for an adult). I do love that they have the old concession stand ad in the beginning. So cute! The cons: The theater we were in was split down the middle so there is no "middle" seat when trying to see the film. Also, anyone who had to walk up or down the aisle, they got in the way of your view during the film. Also, no stadium seating so the person in front of me was much taller and just completely blocked my view. Grrr. The worst part though are the patrons here. Multiple people just kept talking throughout the film. Someone went to the bathroom and when she returned, her date explained everything she missed - loudly. No matter how much I told people to just shh, they just kept going. Morons. So many rude people! Can't blame the theater for this though. read more

Management and quality control is in total decay! Too many times to count how poorly this theater is run!!!! 1. Today we went to see the movie, Devotion. At the movie's end, the projector broke down. The few of us that didn't leave the theater in disgust had to hunt down the manager to tell him what happened. No apologies other than we had to understand the projector broke. There too was no offer of compensation until I brought this up. We were issued one free pass. When asked for another ticket because we would have to come back to see the end of the movie, then we got another pass. 2. Another time, we never got to see the movie we paid to see. The wrong film was being played in the theater we were told the movie was playing in. About 45 minutes into a completley different movie the manager came up to us and appologized for this mistake. He was really very accomodating and gave us 2 free passes each. 3. Another time, I went to the theater and the movie I went to see was pulled resulting it not being shown for the day. No posting, nothing! The manager who was also taking in movie goers was beyond so unappologetic. When I asked him, why didn't he post this on the internet? This was on my only day off, I was looking forward to seeing this particular movie. I even got parking in front. No compensation as a token of good will. Basiccally, to bad. Your tough luck. 4. Another time, when I paid to see a movie, this blonde haired woman who appeared to be in charge took it upon herself to remind me of my being a senior. She informed me, I may have a hard time with this movie due to it's violent content. She proceeded to inform me she had found seniors to find this a difficult movie to see and I should be warned. What? Where the heck is this coming from and why must I be subjected to this. I'm an adult. I know what I am doing. How discriminatory! A few of us have had issues with her in the past. I'm coming to see a movie. I'm not coming to be discriminated against! Finally, it's sickening to see kids that are supposed to be working the theater play fighting with each other, sitting on top of the popcorn counter, on their cell phones. Thet're doing everything but attending to the customer. In the meantime we have to wait to be admiited till they finish playing. Personally, I'm sick of this theater! read more

This was my worse experience with this theater I have ever had. Thought I would enjoy seeing Harriet Tubman with the little free time I have. The bulb in the projector went out about 5 times and the audience had to wait for the film to restart. Finally I had to use my phone flash light to leave. I don't know why it took me so long to write this, even though I haven't been there since. I went to watch Captain Marvel on a Saturday afternoon. There was a group of teenagers being extremely rude. Loud, disruptive, etc. Multiple people complained to the teenagers as well as the staff. After a good while one of the staff members came in, and sat with the group, as they were all friends. Needless to say the disruption didn't stop. The whole theater was upset. The worst part is not just the disruption, but the fact that the staff not only allowed, but joined the group. Unfortunately, I haven't been there since. I really like the place itself, but that was just awful. Every time I think of going this comes to my mind and I just can't I honestly hope that they improved their staff. read more

Wow where do I start. This place was disgusting! We went to a Sunday evening movie on 12/19/21. When we walked in the place looked trashed. Garbage all over the place on the floor. The place appeared to be run by a bunch of kids with no pride in their work. They were all just standing around and laughing. Our movie was upstairs and when we got to the second floor we came upon some kids sitting on chairs and was rolling what looked like a joint. Both the men's and women's bathrooms were filthy to the point you didn't want to use them. Our film was scheduled to start at 7:10. That time came and passed but still the movie didn't start. At 7:20 we called downstairs and was told in a rude manner that they were busy and then they hung up on us. The movie finally started and once it ended we could not wait to get out of there! This was a horrible experience and nothing could ever change our mind about never coming back! read more

Just saw Frozen II with my 4 year old and 1 year old. This place has potential but not sure I'll be back. If your showing a kids movie and don't have a baby changer in any bathroom if the facility why show a kids movie. I literally had to change my daughters diaper in the concession area. I refused to put my daughter on a bathroom floor. I asked to speak to the manager and a young girl that looked 16 years old said she would tell owner.... all your staff looked under 17 years old, no baby changing station, your garbage cans are filled to the rim. Your floor was filthy even befoRe your movie started. I get the price is 5.00 but people deserve a cleaner place. It's my first time here and not sure I'll ever be back. PROS: Every time a movie comes out I always check to see if this theatre has it first. This theatre looks like it's from the 1980s with its bright colors and its background music. The staff is always nice and the tickets are the cheapest around at $7. This place also has a lot of snacks to choose from at typical theatre prices. CONS: This place is on a busy street that's hard to find a parking space on, in result, you have to park in a parking lot far away. A bigger issue is that this theatre may not have the movie you want. They don't always get the newest or the best movies that are released. OVERALL: This is my favorite cinemas to go too. The price is right, the atmosphere is amusing, and the staff is great! Especially if you have the cute girls working the counter like usual. I highly recommend! read more

I saw Anchorman 2 at the Teaneck Cinemas on opening weekend. It was wonderful to see Cedar Lane bustling! I don't remember the last time I worried about finding parking on a weekend night in Teaneck, but even with the heavier evening crowd, there was still more than enough spots in the free lot off Garrison Ave. There's also another free parking lot off American Legion Drive (opposite the parking lot of Stop and Shop). Prices are: $5 matinee any day before 6pm. Evening prices are $7 for adults and $6 for kids Under 12 and seniors over 62. I forgot to look at concession prices, but I saw cotton candy was $3. I'm sure popcorn prices are reasonable -- almost everyone in the theater was chomping on something or sipping some soda. I barely remember the old cinema. I was last there in 2006. I remember the seats being ripped and uncomfortable. But, the theater was still cool in my opinion because of the cheaper prices and being so close to home. The theater now is well-lit, clean, and has beautiful posters and graphics on the walls. The seats are plush and rock a bit. The sound was amazing! I thought the quality of the movie-going experience might be low compared to AMC at Garden State Plaza, but it was comparable. Of course AMC has much larger rooms and more screens, but just comparing sound and screen sharpness, you can't tell you're in a smaller movie theater. So let me repeat -- the sound was sharp, clear, and amazing. And they spaced the rows properly, so you won't have trouble seeing the screen no matter who sits in front of you. The owner mentioned on the theater's Facebook page that they're working on getting film times in the paper and online, so hold tight. Otherwise, just visit their FB to see showtimes and find out other information. Oh, and after the show, I saw people patronizing local eateries. The new owner of Teaneck Cinemas did a great thing by bringing the theater back. Residents of Teaneck and the surrounding towns now have another place to enjoy first-run movies. read more

Ok I'm not sure how this place has all 5 stars but im going to get very realistic and break down why I feel that way in this review. First off, parking sucks, good luck with that..there's a lot down that street which was also filled up as week across from cvs, after literally driving around 20 mins I just gave in and parked in the other lot behind Wells Fargo, not too far of a walk but not very convenient either, about a 2 block walk after a huge steak at Houston's didn't really wanna walk that far. I understand it's on a Main Street and they can't control that so they don't really get knocked down for that much. Second, I'm not sure what the old theatre looked like because I never went there but I wasn't blown away by the renovation I'm sure it's better, more modern but it just looked like an older movie theatre that was cheaply upgraded. Bathrooms are upstairs, guess because it's an old building but still weird to me. Screens are nice and look good. Chairs are not nearly as updated and comfortable as many modern theaters are, it's almost like they took the chairs from a theatre that was updated and recycled them, can't figure that out. The movie I saw wasn't explosions and action so whatever was playing in the next room I could hear through the wall, again I guess because it's older building, but why not fix it during renovation? Let's get to the good stuff now..the prices are awesome, cheapest I've paid other than drive-ins in the last 10 years, even the snacks weren't crazy priced but the popcorn was kind of crappy and tasted like it sat a while. Self butter dispenser is a win, dirty greasy counter at station was not. Overall the place isn't that bad because I like little hole in the walls but I definitely wasn't blown away at all, may possible go there for the low prices and small crowd though. read more

A charming little theater on Cedar Lane. Recently renovated, so everything is brand new and clean. Seats are pretty comfortable. This place has four screens; two on the ground level which are fairly big and are comparable to the big chain theaters, and two smaller theaters on the second level. The theaters on the second level are pretty small. They can maybe hold about 40 to 50 people, which isn't a problem to me. I may be wrong on the actual number of seats, can be more than that. I've been to many independent theaters and I'm used to small theaters and screens. I find it charming. There isn't a bad seat in the smaller theaters. Concession stands, standard fair. Candies, popcorn, nachos with cheese, sodas and slushies. I would love to see this expand a bit. Since they have the warm melted cheese for the nachos they can add those little soft pretzel snacks that other theaters have. Also, hot dogs would be nice. I usually don't buy anything at concession stands in other theaters because of the price, but since the prices here are spectacular I definitely stock up at the concession stands, which brings me to the last subject: price. $7 for adults, $6 for kids, $1 extra for 3D! You can't beat that. The place is nice, new and clean. Seats are comfortable. Staff is very friendly. What else could you ask for? It's very family friendly. You can bring the kids and buy snacks and not feel like you're being gouged. I went with my wife, daughter and her friend. Bought all the tickets which totaled $26 for two adults and two children. Bought a slushy, a large soda, large popcorn and some candy. I'd say I spent around $60 bucks for the four of us! What a deal! I would just like to add this little bit. As you can see, I really like this place. I believe in supporting the things that you like. The ticket prices are so low that I bet the profits from it are pretty slim. The concession stand is where I bet they make the most money. Don't bring in outside food, the concession is really reasonable. Like I said, support the things that you like. read more

This is based off a recent trip to see Lego Movie 2. A birthday party was going on kids screaming running up and down the stairs. The staff oblivious to the noise level. The concession staff has two people, one of them on the phone. The line was long with customers , it took awhile before he acknowledged the people waiting. The restroom was without toilet paper and even had a rag in the toilet. When I explained this to the staff no urgency to do anything. I think leaving a bunch of teenagers in charge without guidance is going to be the downfall of this theater . I had the same problem seeing the The Grinch at the Bergenfield theater except that place was exceptionally unkept. The young staff was over matched with patrons rushing into the theater before they had time to clean , so they gave up . read more

This movie theater is by far the nastiest, filthiest,dark and oldest theater I've been to.. Yes it's cheap, but guess you get what you pay for!!!! I went to see Creed 2 and that will be the last movie I go to!!! I couldn't concentrate on the movies because I was to scared something might crawl on me!!!! Tissue, soda , candy,popcorn everywhere.. Mean while the staff stood around laughing and playing around with each other... During down time they could have atleast made the concession stand , bathroom or even empty theaters presentable...
