Stopped by HAD's recently for dinner and was so pleased! It's a small strip mall gem but care has been taken to make the inside comfortable, colorful, warm, and inviting. It was a Saturday evening but we were able to be seated straight away without reservations, which was nice. We ordered their vegetarian sampler appetizer platter, which gives you 1-2 of each of their vegetarian appetizers. They were all delicious! For our main, my dining companion and I shared an order of their Malai Kofta, which was a also solid. The star of the show? The garlic naan. Smothered in chopped fresh garlic--it was fragrant, buttery, and delicious. The service was attentive and kind and the prices were reasonable. Get to it! read more

Okay as someone that gets their regular fix of Indian meals, oh my goodness, truly SOLID buffet spot! I'm 100% coming back for their extremely nut-free friendly buffet selection and something most Indian buffet spots miss is the balance between North and South Indian foods. This place hits the spot. It's like a good mix of dishes I consider home and then meals I simply can't make myself. I love their chaat spread where you can combine crunchy small snacks with yogurt, deconstructed samosa bites, and spicy sauces- so good! Their chicken was well done, particularly the chicken tikki masala, along with the other meats that my friends enjoyed here. Their naans could've been a little better done; I thought it missed the mark on being softer and more pillowy- it simply landed a bit on the drier side. I hope it was just a bad day and the next time I'm back the naans taste better! The only note I'll make is the chai was too milky and watered out the spices. What makes chai so special is the profile of cardamom, ginger, and the chai ground mix, however, here it fell short of what makes chai tasty. Again, maybe it was a bad day! The waiters here come check frequently to refill glasses, clean out finished plates, and re-stock the naan for the table. This was our first time eating here and my wife and I were very impressed. We arrived right when they opened at 5pm on a Wednesday, as we needed to be somewhere at 6:30pm. We were seated right away and our orders were taken for drinks and a starter. The place is clean and well decorated and seating was comfortable. We received a complimentary starter of a light crisp naan with 3 flavors of chutney sauce, which was excellent. My King Fisher beer was a nice full bodied ale that was very good. We had a meat samosa appetizer; two good sized portions that were crispy on the outside and nicely seasoned. I ordered Chicken Jalfrezy and my wife ordered Hyderabadi chicken Curry; both medium heat. They came with a bowl of white rice to share and both were delicious. They were nearly identical in taste and consistency but mine had a mix of green pepper and onion. Both were creamy and the chicken was very tender. The amount of heat was just right for our tastes.) We both like some spiciness but we have ordered medium at some other restaurants and found it nearly unbearable.) We had a side order of Chili Naan that was laced with peppers. When I saw it I was concerned with it might be too hot, but the peppers were a medium heat and it tased incredible! The best Naan I've ever had. The service was quick and pleasant, with the server and hostess checking in regularly. We were easily able to make or next engagement. Have ordered take out from HAD's multiple times and been in person once for their weekday buffet! I think they're one of the few that has weekday/daily buffets compared to the more common weekend-only buffets. I've tried their butter chicken, chicken tikka masala, chicken biriyana, garlic and regular naan and would highly recommend all of them. The one time I did go in person for their weekday buffet, we were one of two patrons in the restaurant. They had a decent selection and the pricing for weekday buffets are so worth it!! read more

I like to try a new restaurant each week and it could be anything from a dive to a nice place and everything in between. This week I wanted Indian food but I don't do it much because I always get the buffet and I get full quickly so it's wasted on me but now my strategy is just stay away from the buffet and get a main course and take home what I don't finish. The place is the old Chinese buffet in the Kohl's strip mall and nicely done with a remodel. Service was excellent watching them whisk away dirty buffet plates as people got up for more. I ordered the coconut curry lamb with garlic naan which came quickly . My lunch looked good and I started with the garlic naan which was soft and fresh with that slight chew with good flavor, great for the lamb gravy to soak up. The coconut curry lamb was very tasty with nice med heat and a garlic finish but the lamb was not as tender as I would have liked. The basmati was perfect and the only white rice that I like with a meal. Overall my service and food was good which made for a nice lunch experience so I would definitely recommend trying the place especially if you like buffets. Haven't been at an Indian restaurant in 2 decades, after a bad experience in Amsterdam. Silly, I know, but it is what is was. Today I decided to brake the habit, and Had's was to brake it. The staff kindly helped me through the menu, and I decided for the Shrimp Jalfrezi (mild hot plus) and the Peshwari Naan. A generous bowl with rice was served, with a pleasant looking bowl of shrimp jalfrezi. Before I continue I have to mention the 3 dips that came with a giant looking chip. Didn't think of asking the name. But the dips are great! Any way the meal was excellent, and did I mention the generous portion of rice? When I emptied the bowl I was offered more rice! It was plenty enough, and I enjoyed it a lot. Well the Naan is from another world, it's like 'crack' ( never did crack, but excuse my expression) this is so good, I could eat this by itself, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We had the Pani Poori, which is an interactive experience. You are served a collection of crispy balls which you puncture, load with a chickpea and onion chutney, and then fill with a savory water mixture. They demonstrated the process table-side (with gloves) and served each of our party our first ball. We also had the Gobi Manchurian (Cauliflower) appetizer, which was a tasty and unique combination of sweet and savory. Our main courses were the Saag (Dish of Punjab), vegetable curry, and goat curry. All were tasty, and they were able to adjust the spice level down to a weak Minnesotan palate. At the beginning of the meal we were served papadam-style crackers with a collection of sauces. At the end of the meal we were brought warm, scented towels. The sound system played the soundtrack for a series of Indian music videos from across the years shown on a TV. Nice space with a good buffet that was reasonably priced ($14.95). The music was a little loud at first but you get used to it pretty quick. Good options with the lunch buffet. They don't have naan at the buffet but bring some to the table after you stop at the buffet. Tasted fresh and was buttery :) The tikka masala was okay but not as flavorful as I've had elsewhere. However, good flavor with the manchurian options (chicken and potato). They also had 2 soup options and some good looking dessert options though I skipped to focus on the entrees. Buffets are valuable for people who don't know an ethnic cuisine very well, and this weekday lunch buffet was close to us, and the choices were not overwhelming (which can be a problem). We tried most things, therefore. The flavors were interesting, the dominant ingredients being curries with small amounts of meat. The Tandoor chicken may have had white meat earlier, but there were only legs and parts of thighs for us. The Naan helped to balance the flavors and the mango ice cream had a strange icy texture, but it closed out the meal nicely. The service was helpful and the atmosphere somewhat cafe-like. I got some Monday comfort food from Had's and it definitely was comforting and delicious. I called them to get suggestions before ordering on GrubHub. They suggested Chicken Mussalum (it has almond sauce) with garlic Naan and Bhindi balti (okra curry). I loved their suggestions and added a cuppa chai and gajjar ka halwa as dessert (carrot pudding). The chai was pale (sign of a good chai is its medium brown color showing the strength of the tea steeping and the milk added) and the gajjar ka halwa was kinda dry (its usually juicy with raisins and redder in color). They took a while to make the food and the grub hub driver waited for 25 minutes to get he food (bless his heart!). Other than that, the Chicken entree and the okra curry was delicious and the Naan was spot on. Definitely going in to eat on site the next time. I have heard they have a great lunch buffet read more

They have plenty of vegan, gluten free and vegetarian options as well as a huge meat menu section! I read all the reviews and couldn't resist visiting Had's. I'd seen it previously, but had no idea it was new and recommended. My friend and I visited on a Monday as soon as they opened for the buffet. He is an Indian food expert/snob, so expectations were high. The space is utilitarian. It's not fancy, but it's clean and there are plenty of places to sit with some minimal art. It looks like they might be in the process of getting a liquor license. There was a bar area set up in the back on the other side of the entry. The buffet was probably 55-60% vegetarian friendly, which is amazing. My favorite was a paneer dish and the vegetable biryani. Sometimes biryani is bland, but this was multi-layered and complex in flavor. The fresh naan they bring to the table is a delight - warm, with the perfect amount of crispy char on the edges. The gulab jamun also seemed to be more authentic than most - the cheese came through and not just the sweet. My friend also really enjoyed his selections. We will now be putting Had's into regular rotation. The buffet was also $13.95 per person, which is super reasonable, and a good way to try many items. read more

Heard good things about this small Indian Restaurant in a strip mall off of 124th and North Ave in Brookfield. The staff was friendly and the interior was clean with simple decor. They are open for a lunch buffet until 3pm and reopen at 5pm for dinner and takeout service. We went for takeout for the first time and had the non-vegetarian platter appetizer which included 1 Chicken samosa, 2 piece's chicken pakora, 2 fish pakora, and 2 chicken 65, an order each of Saag Paneer, Chicken Tikka Masala (which had just the right touch of spice at the medium level), butter and garlic Naan (huge). All the dishes were delicious with fresh and quality ingredients. The only disappointment was the pakora fish in the appetizer platter which was a bit dry. The portions were plentiful (the naan were huge) and we'll have enough for an ample lunch from the leftovers. Will definitely be back to dine in sometime. read more

Presentation was sloppy. The second star is for their well-executed garlic nan, but HAD's clearly needs someone with more skill in the kitchen because good nan isn't a reason to return. Tried this place because it is the only place I could find that currently has an Indian buffet lunch. The food unfortunately was just average. It was kind of bland which is really unfortunate for Indian food. They have a decent amount of dishes which is nice, and their bread is good. They have vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes as well as dessert. The gulab jamon was the best thing on the buffet. It was ok and if you really want an Indian buffet, I think it is an ok choice. It is certainly not the best Indian food that I have had. It I am looking for somewhere to get an Indian meal, I'll only consider this place in the future if I am really wanting a buffet. read more

I tried their lunch buffet today (a Saturday). I'm very glad I did. While all their buffet food is mild (according to the co-owner), some of the dishes are quite impressive. The vegetarian noodles (offered only on weekends) may not sound great, but let my assure you they are INCREDIBLE. I don't know what mix of seasonings they use, but it is absolutely perfect. I asked what other forms of noodles they make and there are multiple styles available on the menu. I'll go back just for that, and I'm not usually a fan of noodles. It's not too often you encounter an Indian restaurant that does justice to a variety of dishes. This was our first time and we carried out. For appetizers we ordered papdi-chaat and bhel-poori. Both were freshly made, flavorful and decent quantity. Good start! For our entrees we ordered Shahi Paneer, Baigan Bharta and Paneer Balti. Again, very flavorful, especially the Paneer Balti. Their menu clearly states which items have cream in them. Many Indian places overload their curries with heavy cream killing the flavor. Not at HAD's. Each curry was distinct and carried the flavor as you'd expect. Although we did not dine-in, the dining area was clean, fresh looking and had tables spread out. HAD's is the best Indian food between Kenosha and Milwaukee. The evening service ambiance has a wonderful vibe and the service is always great. They always go the extra mile for us to make us feel welcome. I ordered my food hot and medium and they delivered impressive results while maintaining the flavor. Totally worth the drive and the price. (We live nearly an hour away and came out just for takeout this time.) Goat curry, beef vindaloo, samosas, naan, delicious chutney's, aloo mater.... Once they gave me a menial discount for paying cash, but then on subsequent visits they acted like they didn't know what I was talking about? They wouldn't honor that.
