I got takeout of the Non-Vegetarian Lunch Box which came with Chicken tikka masala, chicken biryani, palak paneer and naan. All the items has great flavor. My coworkers who ordered medium level spice said it was more on the mild side. I got mild and was happy with it. It was my first time trying this restaurant and the staff was friendly, space was clean and inviting and they offer a lunch buffet which is a great option to try many dishes if you're not familiar with Indian cuisine. The few things that didn't go as planned during this visit were my order (and co-workers orders) must not have come thru (we all used their direct website) because when I went to pick up the worker looked shocked I said I had 6 orders and clearly they rushed to make them, which was appreciated, but never explicitly stated that's what happened. Also, none of the orders came with plastic utensils. The one website change I'd recommend is fixing the lunch special photos which currently do not match at all. read more

I love spicy food, and this restaurant does spicy food very well! You can chose between mild, medium, and spicy - and spicy is still tolerable and enjoyable (at least for my tolerance). My favorite dishes have been the chicken makhani/butter chicken, goat Rogan Josh, garlic naan, and tandoori mixed grill. And, I can't resist getting a mago lassi as well - it's a pleasant drink/desert especially when you're having a spicy variation of food. For dining, the seating area is very comfortable- there are cozy, plentiful booth seating options. The warm lighting also helps set a calm and inviting dining environment. I've also received great service at this restaurant - I've never felt rushed to complete my meal and leave the table and constantly given water refills throughout a meal. This is a must-stop for me when in Brookfield. Both the malai kofta and garlic naan are recommended!

If I knew the lunch buffet was $20 per person we wouldn't have stopped. The service was great and the food was hot. But some of the dishes on the buffet were kind of bland. The naan was thin and dense like a tortilla not a soft flatbread. Overall it was a hit or miss flavor-wise on the buffet depending on what you chose to try. At least I saved a couple bucks with the 10% yelp coupon. I think this place would probably be a better value for dinner and you'll likely have more choices in a menu than what was out on the buffet. But since it's a bit of a drive I don't know if I'll stop here again. read more

The food was excellent as well as good service. The restaurant was very clean and the staff wore mask. Diners were distanced. Apologies this is from mid-October so I might not remember all the dishes that we ordered but do we call they were all delicious. We ordered a lot of different items. My kids enjoyed the tandoori chicken. The mix grill some items were a little on drier side, but not terribly. I recommend the fish vindaloo. Couldn't figure out why the servers kept asking us if everything was okay : I ordered a chicken dish in sauce , however Received chunks dried chicken with a weird ..red crust around it and gray inside . 3 minutes later another server brought a gravy boat with a yogurt sauce more like a tzatziki sauce . 3 bites and that was it for me . Very weird that 4 different servers asked if everything was okay , . I never in my life sent any food back . So I ended up getting it to go . Just threw it away once I got home . Came here because I was staying close by and was jonesing for some Indian food. Came on a Friday and it was pretty sparse. Not a lot of people in the restaurant but they had a good number of wait staff that was very attentive. I suspect that it's a family business. Everyone speaks very good English here so I would not worry about communication. I had the lamb saag and garlic naan. The lamb curry was absolutely delicious. I love spinach and the cheese so it was a no-brained. The portion of lamb was pretty generous, tender and well marinated. The garlic naan had a ton of garlic and other seasoning on it making it absolutely delicious. The bread itself was crisp on the bottom and soft/chewy and buttery on top. Definitely recommend. If you're in the mood for good Indian foo while you're in the Waukesha area I highly recommend taste of India! read more

Everyone in the family loves this food. I've tried several different entrees here and usually enjoy spicier foods, but here the chicken makhani (mild) is my favorite. It's warm and creamy and full of flavor. I always enjoy it with an order of cheese naan for the table. I know that if I can distract the family with foods they love, there'll be enough of my meal left over for a great snack the next day. My husband orders the Tandoori Mix Grill, which works out well for me because, with a great variety of proteins - fish tikka, shrimp, tandoori chicken, chicken tikka, and seekh kabob (lamb) - he's pretty generous about sharing a shrimp or two. It get's a little pricey, but he pairs it with the mushroom masala to enjoy both the mushrooms in that dish and that great sauce. Chicken tikka masala (ordered mild) with cheese naan is my younger son's all-time favorite. If he's not dining with us, we get him an order to go. My older son's favorite is the lamb curry, which he orders extra spicy. He savors every bite. The restaurant itself looks clean. The service is friendly and competent, but you might have to wait a bit for your drink or drink refill. Met a friend out for dinner last night at the taste of India. It was both our first time going to this restaurant so we are very excited to experience their food. They have quite a large menu to choose from which can sometimes be frustrating especially when you're in an environment where you don't know exactly what you're going to get. I personally have not eaten at a lot of Indian food so I'm unfamiliar with many of their food items. Our waitress was somewhat helpful I think there was a language barrier so it was hard for her to explain to us exactly what we were asking. But she tried her best and we ended up ordering samosas for our appetizer. It was filled with potatoes peas and many seasonings. They were quite large in size so it was perfect for the two of us it comes to to an order so each got one. When we initially sat down we were given three small containers of toppings or sauces along with a heart of crispy bread of some sort very thin and quite tasty. One of them was a Tamarand sauce the other was a very sweet cilantro tasting sauce and the third appeared to be some sort of carrot topping. We don't know for sure because the only one she told us about was the tamarind sauce. Either way they were all tasty and worked really well topping the samosas with. For dinner I decided to get the coconut chicken and I asked if they could add vegetables to it. I love vegetables and I usually want them somehow incorporated in every meal I eat and the coconut chicken was just The chicken with the sauce. So I was happy when I came out to see that there was broccoli, green peppers and onion in the dish and it was quite delicious. My friend on the other hand decided to get a lamb mushrooms dish which was out of this world and I would definitely recommend getting that if you like lamb. It was so tender and delicious I would go back just to eat that! We also put in an order for garlic Naan and cheese Naan to accompany our meals. Overall, our meal was absolutely fantastic and we will definitely be back. I would love to come and try the lunch buffet so I could get more of a variety of Indian food to experience. I legit go to Taste or India once a week. It's hands down one of my favorite restaurants here in the greater Milwaukee area. My partner and I have been obsessed with Indian food when we were living back in New Jersey and we haven't found a place comparable to it until we stumbled upon Taste of India when we moved here, a mere 5 min away from the restaurant. The food is excellent, with my partner's go-to being vegetable mix curry at medium spicy and my go-to's being chicken saag or tikka masala both at medium spicy. You also can't forget the GARLIC NAAN which is SO good--perfectly crispy and doughy in all the right places. You honestly can't find better Indian food within a 50 mile radius (or even further). I keep wanting to choose new dishes to try but I keep on craving the saag . I'll get something new next time! read more

This spot is a hidden gem in La Crosse if you are looking for good Indian food. During April (COVID times) we got take-out for my birthday. The staff was so friendly and thankful to have business! Pre-Covid, they had a great lunch buffet with all their popular items, which was a great way to try a little bit of everything, especially if you're unsure if you like Indian food. We have ordered take out many times and the food is still delicious. My biggest pet peeve is when you get home and things are soggy, or they don't taste like they normally do - I've never had that problem here. I am a regular customer and like their food in general but today I had a really bad experience with their food quality, I ordered butter chicken, and what they did is they used the butter gray and added leftover tandoori chicken pieces in it. The chicken was hard and red and not at all like butter chicken. They repurposed their tandoori chicken into butter chicken and gave me as my dinner. I am feeling nauseous after eating it and feel like throwing up. read more

Lunch buffet review! I've been here twice now- I come with my dad who is a regular. The restaurant itself is spacious with a lot of booths and comfortable seating. It is beautifully decorated. The staff are very friendly and are quick to pick up finished plates and refill water glasses. There are a variety of excellent options on the buffet, and everything is changed out/refilled regularly, even until 3 pm (we tend to arrive around 2). They have the classics: chicken tikka, tandoori chicken, biryani, as well as some more adventurous options (goat curry) and tons of delicious vegetarian dishes. Finally, they have a lot of dessert options on the buffet- Gajar Halwa, mango ice cream, gulab janoon, rice pudding, fruit custard, and chai!
