One word: AUTHENTIC! The flavor and spices are sooo on point and nothing close to anything that I've casually had in the States. I had a few items (samosas, dosa, butter chicken, etc.), which were all great, but the chai tea was my favorite thing! Again, it's the most authentic chai that I've ever had. It's not diluted like most Starbucks or local coffee shops, it's full of spice and flavor. The smells, the flavors and the textures were great. All made by a true "auntie." We visited here after Christmas and did quick Yelp search around the play gym we were at. This one came up with high rating so figured to give it a try. Ordering online was pretty fast and easy. My wife, son, and I came into mall early and walked around. It's sad to see these malls not doing well. Well, we ended up picking up our food after quick stroll. The food was wrapped nicely and tasted much better than our usual Indian food at home. We had extra for tomorrow's breakfast. People are right that this is as authentic as it gets. Wow, wow, wow. Best masala dosa I've had in a really long time. No frills, just really good, savory, homemade food that you can taste and appreciate how much love was put into. The accompanying soup was well spiced, the coconut chutney was a perfect accompaniment, and the masala filling inside was buttery and also adequately spiced. I think Shri Foods is a perfect example of a hole-in-the-wall place inside the food court of Brookfield Square mall that makes the trip all the more worthwhile. The food is affordable (~$10 with tip) and made to order. I came during lunch and waited maybe only 10-15 minutes for my food? Either way, I can't wait to go back and try another dish or two (looking at that pain puri, idli sambhar, paapdi chaat) and I love how much variety of street foods they offer. read more

Kind of feeling it was my lucky day to stay at Sheraton and Shri foods is in walking distant in this nice mall. Once I checked Yelp and found out Dosa was on the menu, I was sold. Apparently I ordered more than I could eat. How could I not have those all when I I could order Dosa, Idli, and Puri...and Masala tea. They were all delicious. Very happy to hear the nice lady cashier was telling me that I had to wait a few minutes as they all had to be made fresh. If I have to give a rank: Dosa, Puri, then Idli. Again, I don't have a way to tell if those are authentic or not. I could only go by the taste. Dosa was wonderfully crispy with right amount of filling inside. Highly recommended. Puri was such a fun to eat and trust me everyone could enjoy this nice puff with some stuffing and sweet sauce. Idli was pretty sizable (maybe I was stuffed after Dosa) so I could only ate one out of two on the plate. Not as fluffy as I thought would be which I guess could be the baseball size of Idli vs I thought would be Pingpong ball size. Talked to the nice cashier who said people would complain the smaller size for $6.99 paid for Idli. OK.. Definitely a great place to try those food. The food was some of the best Indian food in Wisconsin. The dosas where very thin and crispy and the lasi was the just the right thickness. The Service was very quick for how much food we ordered, there was only one person running the whole shop. The ambiance was what you would expect from a mall food court but it didn't detract from the food and service. I would recommend for anyone looking for good food in the Milwaukee metro area. read more

Every single time I have eaten in the Food Court of the Mall, I've had a good experience. The woman who works at Shri might be the owner because I see her each time. She's a lovely person and always smiles. And, the dosa is outstanding. Coconut chutney dollops on this amazing crepe is surely to make anyone happy. Sometimes I get the spicy French fries and samosas; though I feel guilty for eating a whole paper plate full of fried potatoes, but that is 100% on me. So, in terms of a food court joint, Shri is frickin' outstanding. From an Indian restaurant POV, it's still great. The big problem is the mall itself. It's dying quickly. Shri is there with Arepo's and possibly a nearly dead Chinese place surrounded by dead spaces where once many food court joints used to be. Hopefully they will be able to find another location since the mall is in chapter 11. I wish them the best. They are serving up outstanding food to the few who venture inside. Brookfield is lucky to have so many Indian people living there because they have brought the very best of their culture, cuisine and kindness to what could have been a really dull vanilla part of the burbs. So, go check this place out and grab an excellent lunch. I've been many times and really love it. read more

I had been craving some chaat for days and saw this place pop up a few times. I would say, so not come here if you expect quick service. It took me over thirty minutes to place and receive my order, which was a little unexpected for a mall food court. There was on person in front of me and the woman at the counter would disappear every few minutes. Finally a new woman came out on the phone and eventually took my order. I ordered the dahi puri, and it looked delicious. Then began the real wait...it took 20 minutes to snake a place of 8-10 puri which was made of all cold ingredients. Eventually my food came out and the flavors were good, a little soggy, and it could have used more sev and chaat masalas. The food itself was a 4, the service was a three at best. I'm giving them the benefit of doubt that they were just short staffed and would try again as options for chaat in the area are fairly limited. Was looking for a new Indian place to try with my father in town and came across Shri Foods with surprisingly high reviews. As a South Indian, I'm always looking for good dosa options to avoid having to drive to Chicago. We got the masala dosa and chicken biryani, and of course lassi. My dosa itself was fantastic: we had ordered for pickup so it wasn't the crispiest by the time we were home and ready to eat, but it tasted like home with a good amount of spice in it and the sambar. My father was less impressed by the biryani, probably because he expected spicier, but finished his dish off nonetheless. Great, thick, mango lassi. Will likely come back and look forward to trying more off of this solid menu! read more

It is i side the mall. We went on a Sunday and it wasn't super busy maybe two or three people came after us. We were in the area and let me tell you this was not a mistake. We got just samosas because that what we were craving and mango lassi of course and this was hands down the best we've ever eaten. My family and I come from the region in India where a lot of the vegetarian food served at this place is staple for me. As a Indian Gujarati who grew up in London where great home food like this was something I took for granted and now miss living in Milwaukee living the western lifestyle. It's difficult to find as most places serve the common dishes found in standard Punjabi Indian/ Pakistani places.... Not Gujarati cuisine. Something difficult explain to people who don't understand that the India is vast and varied in its serving of cuisine. I enjoyed what was served very much and highly recommended it to anyone who wants to try healthy, tasty flavors that are uniquely what I just described, not the usual meat driven oily stuff (they do serve some meat dishes). I have recently moved into the Milwaukee area and was craving for Dosa for sometime. Eventually found this gem to satiate my Dosa craving. The outlet is located inside the Brookfield Square Mall food court, something which was difficult for us to figure out. We had Dosa , Dahi Puri and Falooda. The Dosa and Dahi Puri were very good both in quality and portion wise, Falooda was the one i feel can be better compared to the price. The restaurant has loads of other options starting from Chole Bhature, Idli, Biriyani, Veg and Non Veg combos. It's nice to see a blend of North and South Indian cuisine in a single outlet. Being a North Indian, i will definitely going to visit next time for some North Indian delicacies. read more

Stopped here for lunch while at Brookfield Mall and was happy to see there was something else besides the normal Chinese and fast food options. There are several options to choose from for a combo meal which includes either 1 or 2 curries / dishes plus rice and naan or garlic naan. A good deal for $8.99. The samosa was spicy and delicious. The butter chicken and lentils were my favorite as many dishes. Skip the masala fries, the seasoning was ok but the fries themselves were meh and a bit soggy. Don't let the location deceive you; this place serves tasty Indian street food like it's fresh off the laari. The owners are really nice, and I love how their menu is heavy on street food versus heavy Punjabi dishes, which is a saturated market in the Indian restaurants. I had the dahi puri, which was tasty and crispy! They had all the right chutneys and masala's (spices) to top it off! We also had the dosa, which was crispy and tasty, and the combo meal with paneer jalfreezi and chole. The paneer and chole dishes were a little too sweet for my taste, but they weren't bad. I am from Chicago area and We went there to attend a wedding and wanted to check out brookfield mall that we heard about alot from friends. When we went there we saw Shri Foods in food court and wanted to try out fast food as we don't have such good options in Chicago. I must say i was amazed when i tried out food there. It was so good and felt like i was eating at home. The taste was amazing and the aunty who owned that fast food place was very welcoming and friendly. She suggested what we should try and also asked how it was once we were done eating. I had to drive back to Chicago and wanted to grab a tea to drink while driving and i told aunty to make it just like Indian style with masala and she did.
