Originally, I was pretty pleased working with this dealer - but it's just seemed to go downhill in a big way. Tonight I stopped in to consider buying a new car. The salesman was super knowledgeable - but I was instantly put off by the "$4k market markup" that the dealer had put on all the cars because of demand. Note, all their pricing online is $4k higher than what's listed. I go on a bunch of test drives, find a model I like, we negotiate a bunch and the salesman shakes my hand and congratulates me on my new purchase. Then comes back 5 minutes later and tells me he made a mistake, the car is actually $6k more than we negotiated and he's not willing to budge. So, we agreed on a price, we shook on it, he congratulated me, and then it was bait and switch. I left and went to another dealer. Buyer beware - this place isn't to be trusted. read more

We bought a 2021 Honda CRV and had an absolutely amazing salesperson Tony Valentine. He was patient, very knowledgeable and made us feel comfortable with our purchase. The finance manager Chad Black however was simply horrible and my reason for 3 stars over all. I left in tears I was so upset He (Chad Black) was nice until the point where we declined the extended warranty. Then his demeanor completely changed. He insulted my husband, he barely looked at us after that. I moved to Martinsburg,WV last week. I needed 2 new brake lights for my Honda. I googled the closest Honda dealership and found this one. I drove there without an appointment. They had me purchase the 2 brake lights in the parts department then they installed them for FREE while I waited. Short wait, 15 minutes. They also explained the West Virginia yearly car inspection to me. Great service and sales guys. Very reasonably priced. I will make them my Honda dealership. I purchased a used vehicle from Hagerstown Honda and have experienced nothing but problems. 1. The vehicle they sold me is completely rusted and this was not mentioned in the description of the vehicle or when I asked if the vehicle had any issues. When I contacted them about this they said "we don't put used vehicles we are going to sell out of state on a lift to check underneath them, we only put vehicles were are selling locally on a lift to check underneath them." Why would you only check vehicles you are selling locally and not vehicles you are selling out of state? 2. They told me that they could title the vehicle for me in the state I live in so I sent them a check for the price of the vehicle plus TT&L. I write them a check, take a picture of the check and mail it to them. They then contact me and inform me I sent it to the wrong address. I inform them I sent it to the address the initial sales person told me and they said "well that's the wrong address" so I have to write and send them another check. 3. After receiving the check for the vehicle plus the TT&L they contacted me and said "we don't title vehicles in other states" and would have to send me a check back. 4. I contacted them 2 weeks after not receiving my refund check from #2 above only to find out they sent it to the wrong address. I give them my address again and they say they will overnight mail me a check. 5. My check goes to the wrong mailbox despite me giving them my address. 6. My last name is spelled wrong on the check. 7. They send the title to my vehicle to the wrong address and they have to go to the DMV to get another title to the vehicle. How can a professional vehicle dealership make this many mistakes and still remain in business? Maybe I just had 7 bad experiences with this outstanding dealership or maybe they are totally incompetent. read more

This means Hagerstown Honda split the cost with Honda of America...the cost they had zero responsibility for. I found a car that I was interested in on AutoTrader and requested more information. I didn't hear anything back from them after a few days so I tried calling the dealership. No one answered the phone and I wasn't given the chance to leave a voicemail for someone to call me back. I inquired a third time online about the vehicle but received no communication back. Be Very, Very Careful when dealing with this dealership. Upon reading my contract recently as I felt comfortable with having Honda Care on my CPO vehicle but as it is getting up in miles, I figured I should check my coverages. This is when I found a charge of $189 for a maintenance package with a "tie-back" to the dealership. This would be fine EXCEPT I live over 2 hours away and would never use it. I was also told I had an Ethos VSC, not the best by any stretch of the imagination and since I specifically said I wanted Honda Care, they sold it to me. When I called to quiz Jacob the so called GSM, he originally told me that they gave me Honda Care because I lived out to their local area. So, if I lived out of their area for the VSC why in heavens name would you rip me off for the maintenance package since I live the same distance from the dealership for both. read more

Bought a new 2019 Honda Accord. During the first year my TPMS light came on several times . Tire pressures were ok each time. My ACC stopped working several times with a message on my dash see dealer service. If I turned off the car it would work again. My auto head lights stopped working several times with same message as with ACC. Also there is a irritating vibration/ noise in the dashboard. Brought it into service and was told they could find nothing wrong. Should have known that this dealer is terrible when I did a deal online to purchase and when I arrived to complete the deal they had no knowledge and I spent hours there while they tried to pack the price with additional add-ons. I should have walked out. This is my 6th Honda. First 5 were great. All purchased from a different dealer that was great. Having read some silly yet positive reviews, we gave Hagerstown Honda a chance. I do wonder if the reviews are planted. Is it really important the salesman demonstrated options or showed all the available colors. Does an enthusiastic sales person make a bad deal good? Why would any knowledgeable buyer buy because an F&I guy explained the value of an extended service contract? Particularly for a Honda. Planted? I understand it takes a meeting of minds for a deal to work. I have no issue with not reaching a deal at Hagerstown. We did encounter some issues at Hagerstown. Cars are commodities bought at many dealerships. In the end it is sales philosophy which differentiates dealerships. We have purchased Honda vehicles in the DC area. At most dealers, we had much better experiences than in Hagerstown. Well, the one in College Park is ???? We had an appointment with an internet manager. When we arrived, they seemed to notice the age of my daughter and replaced him with a younger sales guy. Coincidence questionable. I had contacted several dealers, including Hagerstown, and got very good and comparable prices. Hagerstown's price was nearly $2000 higher. Hagerstown agreed to match the better pricing. My initial feeling was it would be best to avoid Hagerstown, but we gave them a chance since they had the vehicle in stock which we wanted. I researched the value of our trade on KBB, NADA, and Edmunds. I gauged the condition of the trade at very good. At that condition, the average trade value, not private sale value which Hagerstown initially argued, is about $18,000 to $18,500. I was willing to go with $17,500, perhaps $17,000 if things were positive. Interestingly, Black Book also valued the trade at up to $18,000 depending on condition. Anyone who knows cars knows Black Book is usually low. I expected an initial trade offer of about $16,000, which we would then settle at $17,500 or so. Hagerstown assessed its condition as very good. Same as me. Good for us, the deal was moving forward. Hagerstown went online and accessed KBB to arrive at a fair trade value. They came up with around $14,000. Seriously? Certainly not conducive to a sale. My daughter quickly noticed they had not included some items, apparently minor items to Hagerstown, like AWD, Nav and roof rack. The salesman left the office allowing her to correct the omissions on the guy's computer. Voila, the trade value rose to about $18,000. Wow, this was going to be good for us and the deal. After all Hagerstown had already indicated it would use KBB to value the trade. Surely, they would come close to the $17,500 we needed to reach a deal. Not so fast. Apparently, Hagerstown was only willing to use KBB if they could get the trade vehicle at an absurdly low price. Thankfully, I am not an idiot when it comes to car buying. Though the salesman did suggest I know little. Well apparently I know enough not to give away an asset based on the comments of a young salesman. I had anticipated an initial offer of around $16,000. Notice the $14,000 is $2,000 less, very close to the difference between Hagerstown's initial quote and the price they matched. Coincidence, questionable. It seems to me Hagerstown's sales philosophy may include attempts to recover lower sales price in other areas of the deal. This is not uncommon at some dealerships. If we did not have a trade, would Hagerstown have found some other trick to recover the $2,000? Thankfully, we will never know. The salesman asked my daughter for her SSN. Not sure if he ran an unauthorized credit check. He left saying he would speak with a manager, perhaps the guy with whom we had an appointment, to see if he could find some more value in the trade. Amusingly, the manager found an additional $2,000. This raised the trade value to $16,000, about what we owe on the loan. Coincidence, questionable. Perhaps I am ignorant in these areas as the young salesman suggested, but I do not understand the relationship of a outstanding car loan amount to the value of the vehicle. Apparently, to Hagerstown those two amounts are the same. I do wonder had we stayed at Hagerstown a bit longer, would they have explained the esoteric details of this relationship. Once again, we will never know, At this point, things had, as Bob Dylan said, changed. The best action was for us to leave while we still had our wallets. Got a call the next day from the sales manager. Guy assured me his deal was "super fair." Well, as shown below his deal was certainly not the best. Guess is idea of fair is different than mine. To complete the saga. Visited Criswell the next day. With virtually no stress, Criswell allowed $17,000 for our trade. We got the same vehicle at the same price Hagerstown had agreed to match. Also got the special Honda finance rate. Yes, folks considering a purchase at Hagerstown might truly be better served at a dealer like Criswell. read more

Sheesh. 1) Did not service slipping transmission before selling a certified pre-owned car even though I asked them REPEATEDLY to check it out before I purchased it. 2) When I brought it back (80 miles from home!) they did not follow the Honda procedure and put in the wrong fluid, probably because they sent the the Honda I bought to their Kia service department for some reason even after I asked the sales manager about the procedure. 3) I paid cash for my vehicle and they ran a credit check on me anyway without asking me for permission. Yes, I probably signed something without reading it carefully so shame on me. Maybe I just got unlucky because there are a lot of positive reviews here, but I am highly unlikely to go back to this dealership. read more

We took a Honda Civic here for the Maryland inspection since we were planning to buy from a private party. Hagerstown Honda found $500 of repairs needed (of course). We were going to walk away from buying the car but the owner took the car to another inspection station and guess what? It passed. We called the Md inspector to look at the car and he agreed it did not need the repairs. Said the failure was a "judgement" call but the technician did not do anything unethical. I think it is unethical for businesses to fail to pass a car simply to insure more repair business. Don't go here unless you are not concerned about paying for unnecessary repairs. read more

I cracked the cover on my passenger-side mirror. Honda said they could not replace the cover and had to replace the entire mirror assembly for over $740. My husband ordered it for $250 on Amazon. He read a tutorial on you Tube on how to install it. I find it outrageous that Honda has that much of a profit. It took my husband less than 30 minutes to install. read more

I've probably bought 10 new cars over the years, and I HATE buying cars. The experience is usually extraordinarily painful. Dealerships are out to screw you, and as a result I am a less than pleasant car buyer. Well, Hangerstwon Honda changed my mind. I started with emails back and forth with the sales manager, Brett. He answered all my questions without playing games. We negotiated the price of the car and my trade all over all email. When I went into the dealership, I told them they had 90 minutes to process the transaction. They took me seriously. The salesperson was pleasant and helpful. The finance manager processed my application literally in 10 minutes and offered me a rate 0.5% less than the very favorable financing I obtained through my bank. I was out in 55 minutes!!! Treated with respect. No pressure. And admittedly, I was guarded the whole time - waiting for them to act like the other guys... and it never happened! Honda makes a great product, and Hagerstown Honda is a the place to buy one! read more

I'm very pleased with the service I recieved at Hagerstown Honda. Unfortunately, my A/C went out completely in my 2004 CRV- a problem I later found out is common among this model. Knowing that I no longer had a warranty, I was concerned, because I heard it could cost nearly $2,000 to fix. Anyway, Hagerstown Honda fixed my A/C and Honda paid for 90% of the bill, leaving me with just over $160.00 Also, they offer you a ride (in my case to my home) while they're working on the car. AND since I would have to re-install a car seat because I had my baby with me... they had someone drop off my car at my house after it was fixed! read more

We have 4 hondas in our driveway that we purchased from Hagerstown Honda ranging from a 2002 to 2015. we have always worked we the same trusted sales person, and even drove 35 miles for our service because of the personal and professionalism shown to us and our vehicle. This has all changed within the past year and a half. I have called and made appointments for service (3 times) to arrive to be told it is not in their computer,(" but we will still get you in". I also have had problems with the paint on my 2015. ( there is no recall yet). Only to be told by HH service " we don't deal with Honda paint problems anymore" I have owned honda vehicles since 1984. I am going to start with leaving HH service to a honda service closer to home. If this is the " new Honda" service style, I can get this with cheaper American models. read more

While indeed everyone there was kind and pleasant, what made me happiest about buying there was salesman, Dave Barnes. He passed with ease and politeness the grind of my brother (a former car salesman) to negotiate the best deal on my certified Honda purchase. Not only was a great out-the-door price reached, but the entire time indoors with Dave was like hanging out with a friend vs. freaking out with a hungry sales guy. I'm not easy to impress, but Dave was so cool and helpful that, upon leaving, I gladly gave him a tip and wished I had more cash on hand to give. Brought my 2015 CR-V in to re-calibrate a TPMS which keeps coming on. They failed to resolve the problem after two visits. Still having the same problem. I've contacted Honda Motor Corp Customer Service to try to get this resolved before the warranty runs out. The customer should not have to pay for an on going, unresolved problem. I also discovered a tool that was left in the engine compartment. Every technician knows that a loose tool can cause damage if it falls anywhere near the belts or fan. read more

I do my homework when I look for a new car. I contacted nearly a dozen dealers and eliminated a fair number right away. I wanted pricing via online and didn't have time to visit a dealer. So online I go and get a quote from Hagerstown Honda (HH). I also get quotes from other dealers near and not so near from Harrisburg to Baltimore and so on. Other quotes are right nearby within a 15 minute drive. I dealt with Ian (Internet Sales Manager) who kept badgering me to come in and he would beat the others' prices)...knowing I would not come in. After being extremely detailed about the vehicle specs I wanted as a minimum...but leaving it open enough so any car meeting those would work, I got 3 close quotes from dealers ranging from 15 to 50 miles away. So would HH even negotiate? NOPE...never...nada. Ian kept telling me my price was not real or possible and somehow he would give me a deal...all the while keeping to his quote that was $2,000 higher than most everyone else. I showed him the 3 lower quotes...he still said no way anyone else could do that. Well...I am here to tell you I got exactly what I was quoted online by a dealer just north of Hagerstown in PA 15 minutes away...and my price was so real that I walked away with a new car over $2000 lower than Ian said was even possible. So if you want to listen to the lies and deal with a dealer who thinks their ***t doesn't stink...then go to HH. If you want a new car at a price that is thousands less...this isn't the place. HH...you lost my business now and forevermore...as well as anyone I would ever refer anywhere....and I'm a loudmouth. Good riddance. read more

Purchased a certified used vehicle, which wouldn't start on 5 different occasion. The battery was tested by another vendor, within the first 30 days, and the result was the battery was not holding a charge. Hagerstown Honda disputed the claim and said there was nothing wrong and they would not do anything further to remedy. After the 6th situation of not starting, the car was taken to another shop and they stated the battery was bad. Hagerstown Honda is not honest and does not stand behind their certified cars. read more

Spent weeks looking for the right vehicle and found what we wanted at Hagerstown Honda. Also looked at the same vehicle at Antrim in Green Castle at a lower price. Having purchased at Hagerstown before, we gave them a chance to match the price.They proceeded to poor mouth us in that they would not make any money and they would have to make it up on other sales. We told them that we would go back to Antrim and they finally relented. Having spent several hours there it was closing time and so they told us to come back another day to explain the functions and technicals of the car. We made an "appointment" with Angelo our salesman BUT, when we showed up they had no time for us. Left us sitting in the hot sun for 40 minutes before we finally gave up. . I call'd and spoke with the manager to discuss y having been left outside for 40 min. He apologized saying he would check into this and get back to me. I haven't heard back with any explanation. Its been six days. I guess we're on our own.Should have went back to Antrim. Lesson learned. read more

This dealership leaves me hesitant to simply trust them, I avoid one particular technician totally. Why? Well, he "inflated" several minor repair possibilities on two occasions. I simply took my Honda to another dealer where I had gone before and they performed the repair for free and the other repair for a fraction of the price. The technician literally came across as excited to quote me $400 - $500 dollars for a "possible" repair. He seemed excited to go "high" sounding like he was trying to meet some type of daily quota - simply a turnoff. Plus, this technician attempted to influence the mechanic to over inflate the repair and the mechanic seemed hesitant. To resolve my suspensions, I simply took my car to another dealership, problem solved! I'm not a mechanic, but I have taken excellent car of my vehicle, with exclusive Honda servicing (even oil changes). Honda makes plenty of money off its customers who are typically very loyal. There's no reason to overinflate repairs, when you do this you leave customers fearful that you might "tinker" with a vehicle and set the stage for mechanical failure after leaving the shop, which is simply terrible. read more

My wife and I just completed another (our fourth) hugely satisfying transaction with Hagerstown Honda for a new car. We have been extremely pleased with the service we have received from Hagerstown Honda for our last vehicles. That is why we drove by, on our way from Chambersburg, PA, another Honda dealer. We prefer to deal with staff that provide the best prices and services in the area. We do not need a café, walking trail, putting green, etc. The experience was very positive from the time we walked in the door until the time we left. Our salesperson, JASER MAURICIO, was friendly, but not pushy, and was very knowledgeable and made sure that we knew how to operate all the functions on our car before we left. He called the next day to reassure us of what he had said the night before--that he would always be available if we had any questions about our new vehicle. The sales manager seemed to really appreciate our purchase, especially since we were returning customers. The finance manager was very efficient and searched out great financing that matched our excellent credit score. I know there were people working behind the scenes that got our car ready and put on the additions that we requested. We did not have any contact with them, but they also must be excellent employees, judging from the condition of our vehicle when we took possession. We would highly recommend this dealership to anyone. In fact, we did do that when our son graduated from college and he is now driving a Hagerstown Honda car. We have learned to start and end our car search with Hagerstown Honda and we have never been disappointed. read more

I brought my Honda Element in to Hagerstown Honda for the airbag recall, and asked them to replace the rear brake backing plates. I left a list of some other minor things that needed to be done and had my phone number at the top of the page. At the end of the day, when I went back to get my truck, the service rep said he had tried calling me all day. He wasn't able to because, instead of using the phone number I had left with them, he called an old work number. They did the airbag and a few other things, but did not replace the backing plates. Then I was told that the truck needed major suspension work and the estimate was over $3000. They also recommended that various fluids (rear differential, brake fluid, etc.) be changed and the estimate for that was $1000. I thought those estimates were high, but being a dealer, I wasn't surprised. I then took my truck to my local mechanic (one whom I have dealt with and trusted for many years). This mechanic said there was "absolutely nothing wrong with the suspension" and that even the backing plates would last another year or so. He did replace all the fluids and the total cost was $166. Yes - One Hundred and Sixty Six dollars! So I went from an estimate of over $4000 down to less than $200. Hagerstown Honda's service department is disreputable and I believe sexist. I've read other reviews that confirm my opinion. I just tried to call the dealership and did not even get an answer. I will not be dealing with Hagerstown Honda any more and would strongly discourage anyone from taking their vehicles there for service. read more
