I got their unit installed about 6 years ago. Worked fine. There was a glitch recently. The system was not softening the water. I had to go thru Hague Water Chula Vista. They over charged me. Came out for an estimate for an water softener install and was great! A little much on the upsell but I picked what I wanted, scheduled for an install. The day of was great, very fast install. They provided the slab and installed an outlet on the outside of a house to put the water softener on it while also rerouting some external piping. They even put in a spout above the water main which helped out. They walked me through how to use and maintain the system outside. It's only week 1 but I can feel the difference with the soft water already. read more

My plumber recommended Hague and glad he did. Maybe the easiest transaction I've had, one phone call to Bert and it was installed the next day. Kinda seems pricey at first, but it's an all inclusive price that included an upgraded higher-pressure spout (about $250 online just for the spout.) I had bad experience with reverse osmosis (RO) systems in the past, I think everybody did, cheap thin tubing that always developed costly leaks under the sink. Not any more, and not with Hague's system, they promised me; they use the thick blue tubing rated to plumb whole houses with. I asked Bert to please send out the best technician and boy did he ever. Brett was maybe the best, friendliest, and most knowledgeable installer I've ever met (and I used to work in the home improvement industry.) He's been putting these in for literally decades, and it shows. He even drilled a hole in our granite countertop, no extra charge. Everything was explained, why I received the model 3500 (instead of the 6500 I saw on their site and ordered.) Apparently, it's been improved! (A bit confusing, they may want to pick a higher model number than the previous, if improved.) We've been buying expensive alkaline water at the store and humping the cases up the stairs. Our backs just couldn't take it anymore, so called Hager! Alkaline water is supposed to be healthier (who knows?) and it costs about triple regular bottled water. When I asked Brett about this he said no problem, he can put in an alkaline filter included in the price. Really? There is a slight sacrifice on taste, so Brett even said try it and if I wanted, he could come back out and put in a two- control spout and pick from alkaline and regular RO water! Just have to buy the double control spout, which isn't cheap. Still deciding, leaning toward doing this. My only room for improvement would to have been given the price for this upgrade up front, and not have to special order the spout, have one on the truck. I would have said yes. It's so liberating knowing our drinking water issues are solved. Call Hager Water Systems today, end your water worries and stop using plastic bottles. The birds and fish will thank you! read more

Be weary, although the work performed, knowledge of the work needed, and the response times are above average, the Upsell pressure to overpay by 50% or more, an additional item needed that may be found during the service call, is difficult to accept. Also, fixing the problem and not doing a complete check of the system in which it is working with, is also unacceptable. Make sure you direct the service technician to check the job A-Z before signing off on the completion of the job. It may save you time later when you have to troubleshoot a problem when it could've been found during the job that you hired Hague and Quality Water to complete. 3.17.2022, Update to help the owner of Hague with the details on the service his business performed since a VM left for him to contact me was not returned. I was charged $255 for a part that would cost $120, if I had purchased it myself, such as from a local hardware store or plumbing supply warehouse. When I asked why so much, I was told, that's just the price of the part. I stated I didn't appreciate the upsell but it appears the emphatic nature of twice telling me the importance of changing it forces me to accept the price and have it done. The technician apparently could not adjust the old part to within the standard psi requirements, although I never saw the technician try to do this. 60 seconds later, anew part was installed. Secondly, testing after repairs were made was incomplete because of residual buildup on a float from the the solvent used inside the machine needed to be cleaned out and the water flow sensor no longer works, which prevents normal and required operation from happening. Points I should have been informed before assuming all was working correctly. I believe in part, the importance of using only the 30 minutes allowed to finish the service call so that an appointment in San Diego can be made, did not allow for a complete system check to be completed, and or, it's not common any more for a complete check of something before advising all is working properly. I did a troubleshot of the problems and after I made the necessary repairs all is working as it should. I stand by my initial review. I will be taking my business as well as referrals and commercial business needs to another source in the future. read more

Always impressed with Hague service. Dominick came out today and checked the system, not only did he arrive early for my appointment but he noticed a failing part which was under warranty, and proactively changed it out. I had been having an issue with salt bridging in the tank and he explained how that happens and filled the tank with more salt without charging. He also verified all the system settings and fully tested for correct operation. Keep up the good work guys, very happy. read more

I purchased a Hague water softener in 2013. Though it was more expensive than other equivalent units, I liked the company's 10-year warranty. In 2022 I requested a service call because water was collecting in the brine tank, salt was not being used up and my water was no longer soft. The franchise owner, Mr. Bert Hufff performed this service call. After a very cursory evaluation -- during which he "rebooted" the controller by unplugging and replugging it in (but did not check the my watter's hardness or disassemble of the unit to inspect it's moveable parts) -- he told me that excess water in the tank was "normal" and that the unit was working fine. I accepted this assessment at the time and paid the ~$129 service charge. However, after 9 more months of living with "hard" water (which I confirmed with a simple Home Depot test kit), I requested another service call. This time the technician disassembled my unit determined that several gaskets were worn out preventing water from cycling properly through the brine tank. The quote to replace the defective part(s) was ~$600 (not recommended because my unit was old and now out of warranty) v. $3,850 for a new, equivalent Hague softener. I declined both options, but again had to pay for the sevice call (now increased to $158). Although I can't prove it, I wonder if Mr. Huff pronounced my unit "fit" in 2022 when it was 9 years old, so that Hague wouldn't have to repair or replace it under their warranty. Whether that's the case or not, what is perfectly clear is that Hague water softeners (which have plastic parts and rubber gaskets) are no better -- regardless of what the company claims -- than other similarly constructed, warrantied and way less expensive exchange softeners available from big box home improvement stores or other local sources. My bad for being trusting and gullible. There's no need for anyone reading this review to duplicate my error by buying a Hague water softener. read more

I did give them a try and they came and installed the whole house water softening system. The installation was clean and they do offer 25 year full warranty. So we did a water test from a local hardware store. A salesman came out and did the water test. We are on a well. So, as we knew, our water needed a bit of help. He sold us a system. My husband calls and says we also want our 15 horses to have purified water. We got a bit of flack for that, but they came up with another system. Another 500. They come Out to install and the installer said no, we need the next level. Another 1000. The installer comes out and says the system is fine, but... we need this one bigger unit, 3000!!!!! My husband calls around and Bert comes out. He says he specializes in well water. My husband actually shows him our contract with the other company!! Ugggg Long story short, today we had a water system installed big enough for 15 people and 15 horses. Now Bert knee what we we had been sold and they amount we were paying. Hague came out and spent less than 5 minutes and said the the water softener was shot. It would cost more to repair it than a new one and charged $95.00 for service charge. Did not even put the top on the water conditioner when he left. He said it would be $1500.00 to sell us a new one. All he did was listen to the unit for less than a minute.
