    Tub liners!
    Marilyn H.

First time visit and I only have one minor concern after only getting a pedicure. I will be making this my go to nail salon since it's close in distance so if my future experiences change, I'll make sure to post an update. Why 4 stars? -Price list available at the front desk and in printed paper for you to grab and go -Greeted upon entering -Attended right away, didn't have to take a seat and wait -Plenty of nail technicians -A wide selection of gel colors (in the front) and regular polish (in the middle) -Massage chairs and tub liners -Water dispenser -Good cleanliness -Rooms for waxing -Hair care services -Utensils aren't packaged for sanitizing (only concern) The pedicurist to help me was Linda and she was meticulous, yet fast and I loved how she polished my toes, and helped me with my bags and walked me to the front. Cash tip only, by the way, so don't forget your cash! Check this place out; it's at a great location with the following surrounding stores: Safeway, Flippin Pizza, Chipotle, CVS, Starbucks, UPS store, and more!

The salon did remodel, more chair and every body is friendly and nice service. Gel manicure is good,Katie dose good job

    2 weeks later

Meh. They told me on the phone an acrylic fill was $25 (this is only for regular polish). Everyone gets gel now so that was very misleading -- it was actually $45... which is a little more than I usually pay at the other salon I go to. It was very fast, I will give them that. 30-45 min. The tech used a tool to take off my old color, buffed them, slapped more acrylic on, and painted them. No cuticle trimming or extra time using the tools to shape my nails or buff them so that the acrylic stayed on better. The tech also cut them very short, and when I said something she said "well, it will grow back." To add, they didn't have the color I wanted (light brown, which is pretty basic). My nails usually last between 3-4 weeks but after 2 weeks one popped off. Only gave 3 stars because it was quick like she said it would be on the phone

How can this be considered a manicure?

Asked for a manicure with clear coat polish, not gel. Started with the walk in after me being taken first, no problem. The person doing my nails used electric file on top of my nails, then in my cuticles, cut my nails, buffed for less than 30 seconds total, barely cut cuticles, had to show him where he left ny cuticles hanging. Then sprays alcohol on my nails, puts less than pea size drop of Bath and Body Works "Thousand Wishes" body cream on back of each hand and rubs on back of hand like I have leprosy. Tells me I'm good after clear coat of polish and tries to charge me $23 for full manicure. The manicure was supposed to be nail trim and shape, polish, a hand massage followed with a hot towel. and moisturizer. When I asked why it was going to be $23 they dropped it to $20 because I didn't get the massager the hot towel or the moisturizer. The quality of my nails looks like a five-year-old did them. I will never come back here and I urge people to stay away unless you like throwing money away.

The lady with glasses on did my wax yesterday and left a big bruise on my arm. She was applying think wax and wrapping the strip around my arm which was not helping at all. Every time she was ripping the strip off the edge of the strip stays on my skin which pulled my skin off. I kept telling her that it's hurting a lot and not to wrap the strip around my arm. She didn't apologize, instead she was like "Too much hair". I don't recommend this unprofessional place.

Unfortunately, she said she did not have a great experience and would probably not go back again. She said her stylist showed up late, and never acknowledged or apologized for it, and that they also kept checking their phone during her appointment. (Update based on owner feedback: My daughter received a message before her appointment indicating that she needed to plan for parking issues due to the Farmer's Market taking place, and that she would be charged a late fee if she wasn't on time. So, stylists are aware they need to plan for parking too.) She also said that after finishing the cut (before blowdry), they turned her toward the mirror and then said "uh oh" (not very comforting) because one side was noticeably longer than the other. To even it up, they had to cut more than she had been wanting to in length. The final downside was that, even though she was booked for a "long hair" cut, which is more expensive than a standard cut, she was charged an additional and unexpected $20 for having thick hair. (Update: Yes, the stylist told her up front, but the point here being that it's not made clear when booking that there's a potential additional charge for thick hair on top of long hair. Just putting out awareness for other people.) The only saving grace is that she at least liked the haircut and final result. (Final update: My daughter disputes some of the owner feedback, but I wasn't there. My review was not intended to provide a sweeping generalization of the stylist or the salon - just my daughter's experience, which might be very isolated and rare. It's why I didn't name or in any way identify the stylist because maybe this was just a one-off situation.)

Shannon is a senior stylist, and her expertise in color and hair care is impressive. I live in Great Falls, where the well water tends to turn my hair green, but Shannon always manages to fix that. My hair has never looked better! Going from black to blonde isn't easy, and I really can't stand any red or orange tones. I've had issues with other stylists in the past, and it's just not my vibe. My 16-year-old daughter has tried out a bunch of hair colors--red, burgundy, brown, blonde, and back to black. Despite all the changes, her hair stays thick and healthy. I wouldn't trust anyone else with her hair because I worry about damage. Shannon is not just a fantastic stylist; she's also super friendly, kind, and honest. Honestly, she's like my therapist too, haha! She's usually pretty busy and booked up for a few months, so you definitely need an appointment. If you're looking for a new stylist, you should definitely check out Shannon. You won't regret it!

Well...here's how I ended up going to PR at Partners. Before coming here, I had been going to the…read moresame hair stylist since I was 28---yeah, that's a long time but hey, I'm getting old :D Through the years she bounced around to different salons in Tysons Corner (all in the mall). One day, I called to make an appointment. The day before the appointment, I got a call saying that the salon had moved. No longer was it in the mall but in an area of McLean that was a real pain to get to and parking there was also horrible. It really bothered me that my stylist didn't take the time to call me personally to let me know. After all, she did have my phone number. She also once told me she would never leave the mall. I cancelled my appointment after finding that they had moved and never looked back. Now...what to do next? I researched what was in Reston Town Center and came up with PR at Partners. After reading the Yelp reviews, I was concerned as the reviews said the reception staff was rude. But...I decided to walk over there and find out for myself. I was pleasantly surprised to find that the young woman working there was very nice. So, what I did was ask her if there were any stylists who wouldn't be afraid to cut my hair. She said "What's wrong with your hair?" I said, "It's thick, coarse, wavy and frizzy." She said, "Oh, just like mine." I looked at her hair and said "yes". She then gave me the names of 2 different stylists. Apparently, they have different levels of stylists with the most experienced ones charging the most. One of the 2 stylists charged just what my old stylist charged, so I made an appointment with her---and I'm glad I did! My first visit I immediately knew she was the right one when she said "I'm not afraid to cut your hair." Before cutting it, she spent a good amount of time asking what I wanted in a cut, showing me photos then showing me how she would improve on my current cut. For example, she pointed out that the back of my hair could use some shaping. At the end of the appointment, I really liked my haircut---much better than my previous one. She's also taught me a lot about hair care. For example, I finally learned what the diffuser on the hair dryer was for and why I should use it. I feel spoiled going here. When you get a shampoo, the chair also gives you a back massage. Good thing it doesn't take long to wash my hair or I would end up falling asleep---the massage is that nice! I've never come across a rude receptionist either. All have been friendly and patient. In fact, one day I walked in and the receptionist said "Susan?" I didn't expect that. The day before my appointment, I always get an email asking me to confirm that I'm still coming. My last appointment in 2019, I was told if I booked the first one for 2020 right then I would get a coupon to save $10 on the next appointment. All this makes me feel like the appreciate their customers. Now I can walk to my appointments, which is great. I'm so glad I made the change!

I only ever do simple cuts, nothing fancy. My haircut, done by Anderson (a level 3 stylist), is objectively good. The skill was there. But it's definitely shorter than I wanted it. Went in for a lob, came out with an asymmetrical bob...Honestly I was panicking while he was drying it because it was starting to look like Lord Farquaad from Shrek. I asked if he could style it like in the reference pictures I showed (simple waves, to reduce Farquaad-ness). He tried to do it with the brush/dryer, which obviously wasn't working, and didn't want to use a flatiron. So I just suffered through scalding heat on my scalp and hair pulling. I got told I don't have curly hair. I got told I don't have frizzy hair. I, in fact, have both of those. Some other minor things: 1. When I got home I had some hair that was noticeably longer than the rest, like it never got cut. So...I had to do it. Just a few strands, but normally stylists check for that when your hair is dry. 2. I almost never use heat on my hair, so I asked for recs and mentioned a specific brand doesn't work for me. He immediately said he loves that brand. I said yeah...but it doesn't work for me. Anything else? "Any salon brand." Cool. Not helpful. 3. Asked for something at the end to tame the pieces that were sticking out (again, I have frizzy hair). He looked...confused? Smoothing as a last step has been standard at every other place I've been to. There is nothing in the whole salon like that? Also, my introvert-self just wants to go somewhere where I don't have to be engaged in conversation the whole time. Anyway. Won't go back, my hunt continues.

(Please note the final picture with hair clipped is what I wanted to go BACK to, and the photo I shared with the stylist before confirming what was needed to get my look back to the photo.) Well this was my first and last time trying the Reston Madison Reed. I was really hopeful MR would be the place for me. They even had appointments available without booking weeks in advance. I came in with a grown-out style, asked to have it refreshed at the roots and some highlights with balayage and a root smudge... well... What I got looks very sloppy. It's not even close to the ashy blonde I already had in my hair and asked for. Now I have more of a brassy gold between my now DARKER and LONGER (!?!) roots- and my grown out ashy blonde highlights. I can't believe it looks even more grown out than it did before. AND I can see all of my grey hairs still. I'm shocked and disappointed, and it will cost me a lot more now to go have this fixed. My sister who is a professional stylist (but lives too far away for regular hair visits) was absolutely floored when she saw pictures and heard what I paid for this mess. I should have realized this was a mistake when the first woman who took me to a chair was not very welcoming and then disagreed with me about what I told her I currently had in my hair - despite that my sister had done my hair when I last visited her, and I knew exactly what I had. Another stylist intervened and agreed with me, confirming that she could easily see exactly what I had, and she would touch me up with what had grown out. It got tense, the first stylist just wandered away, and the whole switcheroo was sort of unprofessional overall- the second stylist blamed it on a language barrier but there seemed to be much more going on between them. So then I thought I was in good hands- and she was a kind, pleasant person, and we easily made some small talk, and she appeared to take my input about what I wanted and seemed to know what she was doing. But, here we are. And it's not good. FYI- You have to blow dry your own hair. I would have paid for a blowout but it wasn't even offered as an add-on or upsell. The MR products were not good for my fine hair and it was a complete frizzy mess. Bring your favorite products if you have fine hair like me- these products are not for us. I think this would be a good place for a single process solid color. Like, you just need your dark brown roots touched up every 6-8 weeks. Don't get too fancy. Madison Reed originally started with at-home haircolor and then opened salons, giving that concierge touch to your standard box colors, but I think anything beyond the single box color level of simplicity here, could be taking a big risk.
