When I pointed this out, she casually said it would "look like the pictures in 8 weeks." I was shocked and humiliated. During the haircut, she even told me twice not to cross my legs--something I've never experienced at any salon. I asked to switch stylists, and was told I'd have to pay extra, even though the issue was not my fault. Ruby then claimed that because I agreed to a graduation in the back--which she suggested--she had to ignore my other requests. I cried in my car on the way home, devastated. $160+tax for a ruined haircut and a traumatizing experience. I can only hope no one else has to go through this. Without exaggeration, this was the worst salon experience of my life.

I have been going to Abi for almost 3 years now. I nannied for a lady that went to her often and I was in love with her hair. She sent me the information for her stylist and with a name like Abigayle Hanshaw (how classy does this sound?) how could I not go see her? Soon after I started going to her, and I have been hooked since. Abi is educated in what she does, she tells you what she is doing (while doing it) and explains the processes needed to understand how hair works. This is important to me because I don't go to the doctor hoping they will fix the problem and then them not explain to me what they're giving me and why. So immediately, I was impressed by her educated background and detailed descriptions of what I was to be expected of my hair. If you have boxed color, she can explain the process in lifting out those harmful chemicals. Let's be honest ladies, we've all been there with boxed color and it fades quick. Plus, we know what harmful chemicals are in boxed color before we use it and Abi was insightful as to what I was doing with my hair. Since the first session (I mean really, if I want to look as good as Abi wants me to, it's going to take a few sessions) I was hooked. And she cares about her clients and their happiness with her work! How often do you find a stylist so personable? She is truly incredible at what she does. Since going there for three years, I have learned a lot about her as a person, let alone a stylist, and she is very easy to relate to. She's very open and straightforward with her opinions and that is something I value as another female. Hopefully, if you're on yelp often, you understand people well enough to form your own opinion of them. I personally love Abi and recommend her highly! From a business standpoint, I will soon be in a photoshoot for a hair company, BECAUSE of the work Abi does on me. Let alone, she will be THE ONE doing people's hair for this photoshoot, per my recommendation. A lot of professionals value her and her work, and I have been lucky enough to pass her work on. I came to Abi's salon salon looking for something new but still manageable. She delivered this and more! I left the salon not only looking and feeling good, but also with tips on how to manage and properly take care of my hair. Abi helped me find simple hairstyles that were easy and quick to do(as I tend to be always running), but that also stylish and cute. She's easy to talk to and is always friendly(which is super important to me). I was referred to Abi from a dear friend and coworker. Everyone ask where I get my hair cut because my hair is very fine and stick straight. Hard to cut without making it look choppy. Not sure how anyone could be dissatisfied with her services. She also doubles as my therapist at times. She is always willing to work with my crazy schedule even when I have to call last minute. A basic dry cut starts at $35 and goes up based on your add-ons (e.g., shampooing, drying and styling, etc.). I had my hair washed (I prefer wet hair for cutting) and blow dried after the cut. I was able to book a next-day appt. online. I showed up early and Mona was running a little behind, but once I was in her chair she went to work and achieved the look I was going for quickly without cutting quality. I chopped 6 inches off and did long layers and a light face frame. Conveniently located in a shopping strip in north Austin, it's not the fanciest salon, but great service and products if you just want a good quality cut and style!
