I'm back again to praise Heidi Johnson! To begin with, she's done a great job with all of my drastic requests. I've gone with an A-line, an asymmetrical (really short on one side and longer on the other), bleached from my natural dark brown to a honey blonde, later dyed to a beautiful shade of red, then back to brown for my wedding. I showed her a few inspiration pictures and she made me a perfect combination of the hairstyles I showed her, a voluminous low up-do with a retro inspired bump at the top. I was concerned because my hair wasn't that long (a few inches past my shoulders) and I have annoying baby fine hair, but she gave me the volume that I wanted in my up-do, and it stayed up all night! This is my story of how I found Heidi and how great my hair turned out. Long story short, I was suppose to go with the bride to her "hair person" but then the "hair person" was complaining of how many people wanted their hair done. I took it upon myself to find someone else who would enjoy fixing/doing my hair. I found Heidi on Yelp.com, which i use for new places to go to and find reviews. I hired Heidi for my wedding and was so happy I did. I did a couple trials beforehand and couldn't find a good fit but Heidi was really fantastic (and thankfully available!) and after my trial with her I sold. In between the wedding and the trial I also went back to her for a haircut which was fantastic as well. On the day of my wedding she traveled to my venue and did my bridesmaids hair as well as mine which all turned out gorgeous. Heidi did my hair for my wedding. She met me for a trial run and I was totally disorganized. I had some ideas and some pictures of what I wanted. But I had no idea how I wanted the end product to look like. Heidi asked me questions while she was doing my hair. Each strand of hair was getting placed per my instruction based on what I like and what I didn't like about what she was doing. We ended up with the perfect style for me. Then we put my birdcage veil on. I was pleased. By the time my wedding rolled around, I had changes to my veil position. Heidi adeptly made my changes. Also at the last minute I needed Heidi to style the hair of three more girls. In a little over two hours, she did my hair, all three of my bridesmaids, and two cousins. She was fast and on time at 5:30 AM. The girls were picky and needed her to make style adjustments while she was doing other girls styles. She worked competently and didn't get frazzled even though we held her over time and she needed to leave. I had a birdcage veil that I wanted to remove at the reception. We were all afraid my custom curls would collapse by the time reception rolled around 12 hours later. That didn't happen. My hair was as fresh as if Heidi was touching me up all day. I was the photographer at a wedding Heidi did hair for on August 20th, 2010. Heidi was sharp on time - 7am (early start!). She came on location, fully equipped for 4 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls and the bride. She was to be done by 10:30, which I thought was a feat by herself. Heidi was great in giving advice on the type of hairdo that would flatter the bridesmaids best. She listened very carefully as each bridesmaid explained what they liked about photos they'd seen, an changes they wanted to make as she went along. I was amazed at the fact that most of the bridesmaid were researching the hairdos the morning of, and that Heidi was able to pull it off on the spot. She was super ready and a very good listener. The bride had short hair, which I would imagine would be a challenge, but she managed to change her look and give it that romantic and stylish feel that suited her dress. Altogether in just 3.5 hours, she pulled off some long curls on the 2 flowers girls, some side buns and curled updos on the 4 bridesmaids (each was different), and a wavy / curled do for the bride, which makes for the whole gamut of hair you can see on 7 people, all while smiling. I love love love heidi. Wish I could give her 10 stars. I went last week for color hi-light and trim at another Salon, they totally stained my head and the color was AWFUL to say the least. I called Heidi & explained I had y engagement photo shott Sat Morning she squeezed me in on Sat morning before mmy shoot ~ and my hair color is nothing less then AMAZING she styled me totally cute for the photo shoot.. It was not the style for the wedding but it was a lil taste of it she asked did I want more realxed then what I will want at the wedding a I said yes ~ so she did a lil side braid with soft waves throughout I LOVE IT ~ I felt so glamoraous all day.. I had a great experience with this stylist. I was in the area for my cousins' wedding where I was part of wedding party. The dress I wore was pinup girl style so I had a couple of pictures of ideas and then just let her work her magic. My long hair turned into gorgeous updo complete with victory rolls in about 25 minutes!!! It lasted through the wedding photos and dancing. Heidi is amazing! I had a Roaring 1920s theme party and she did a great job giving me a faux bob. It lasted all night long. I recently came to her after I went to two different salons to get a short haircut. The two salons would not want to cut my hair super short like I requested, instead they gave me an A-line. I had that haircut before so I was unsatisfied. I asked Heidi if she can cut my hair like a pixie cut with long side sweep bangs. She said yes without any hesitation. I la-la-la-LOVE it!!! I found Heidi on Yelp. And if you're reading this review, you must be looking for a hair stylist for a special event. She is great! Heidi did my hair for my wedding. The main reasons I chose Heidi after searching throughout yelp, knot.com, and any other Google result page was because of locale, price and several positive reviews. Just read all her previous reviews and you'll see why she deserves your business. She is timely, prices are fair, and she is fast and efficient. She did three bridesmaids, 1 grandmother, 1 mother of the bride and yours truly within 3 hours. Everyone was really pleased with the outcome (there were a variety of hairstyles: half up/down, blow dry, full updo, side chignon, etc.). Not all the pictures on her website represent the diversity of her skill. She works well with pictures and talks with you about your hair and what you like. I'm a shy person, but Heidi was very easy to talk to and didn't make me feel uncomfortable. One thing I liked especially is that my hair didn't feel like a plaster of Paris sculpture after having her work with it; the curls stayed in place and were soft to touch. I've had hairstylists manhandle my hair with cans of spray and gel leaving me with the unfortunate task of removing bobby pins as painful as plucking your eyebrows for the first time. I found Heidi through my make-up artist, Sitting2Pretty, a week before my wedding - call me A PANICKED BRIDE at that point! Not only was Heidi highly recommended she is so low key and easy going that you're instantly at ease when she's doing your hair. I was told to have my hair washed and dried and to be ready by such and such time. Heidi arrived about 20-30 mins early and was set up in less than 10 mins.
