Came in for the appointment for a balayage, super anxious because this is my hair and it's really important to me that it's done the way I want. I showed multiple inspo pictures and my stylist went to work. To make a long story short, the bleach was left in my head for about 2.5 hours, which obviously left my healthy hair completely fried and over processed. (It would make sense to drag this process out when you're charging a hourly rate) She toned it to an awful grey color that was so ick I felt so embarrassed. The roots were BEYOND streaky. I didn't realize the extent of the damage until I washed my hair for the first time at home.... I was traumatized. It was bristly, falling off, and so matted to the point I couldn't brush my hair. Not what you want to see after paying a fortune at the "best salon in Richmond." Oh and my friends hair? She requested a deep cowboy red- came out with BRIGHT, hot cheeto orange hair. I was I was kidding. I called and emailed the salon to see what they were going to do to rectify this horrible experience and have yet to email or call back, this was over a week ago. I have since seen a different stylist who is working SO hard to get my hair back to its natural condition and to the color I originally asked for but as expected it's getting so costly. And I had to cut over 3 inches off my hair to remove the knots and it only helped like 5% since I've worked so hard growing my hair out after having 2 babies. The 3 hour hair time they quoted turned into over 5 hours at $125/hour. Spending that kind of money you'd expect to firstly get what you asked for- which if you claim to be a professional shouldn't be that hard and 2. at least get a call back from an owner regarding this matter. Well, needless to say I and a lot of people I'm associated with will NEVER go back here. They are extremely unprofessional, lack respect for their customers, and clearly only care about the money. Save your money and go elsewhere. There's a way better salon that facilitates anything you could need literally across the street!!! Rumor has is a lot of their staff left to go work there anyway.

After a simple root touch-up, the stylist applied strong bleach to my dry, previously lightened ends and left it on far too long. My scalp burned and smoked -- I have photos and video -- and by the time it was rinsed, I had lost a significant amount of hair. I am not exaggerating: I lost about half of my hair that day. My scalp now has painful sores. When I began crying from the pain and shock, the stylist showed no sympathy. The owner eventually washed my hair because of the scene I was making, but the person who applied the bleach appeared unconcerned the entire time. Other local stylists who have seen my hair were shocked at the level of lift used and how long it was left on. I have cosmetology training (Paul Mitchell), so I know this was over-processing and should have been addressed immediately. This was not a simple accident -- the damage could have been prevented if proper technique and care had been used. I have the stylist's license number, photos, and video evidence. I am pursuing legal action and will be reporting this incident to the state cosmetology board. I will also be sharing my experience publicly so others can make an informed decision. Please do not trust this salon with chemical services. I am traumatized by what happened and hope my review prevents someone else from going through the same experience.

I do feel that when someone is being unethical, it should be addressed. I went to Christine for some lowlights and wanted a FEW highlights to blend in, but I like my hair mostly dark. I told her this and she began mixing the products. It took her almost 2 hours just to apply the highlights. After my hair was done processing, I knew the color was awful. The blonde obviously didn't sit long enough and was very brassy. She then puts a deep conditioning in my hair (that I didn't ask for nor did she ask if I wanted it. She just did it). After that she put a toner in my hair. Again, didn't ask. All in all, I was there for 3 HOURS. When I went to pay, she tells me it's $275 and I booked for a $140 service!!!!!! How do you not tell someone that the price is going to be so much higher! She then tells me that I would have known the price if I did a consultation with her first. Why couldn't she tell me any prices before or during the service rather than just doing things I didn't even ask or agree to? She literally just put things in my hair. At the time, I didn't even know what she was doing. She told when she was ringing me up everything she did. I don't even like my hair. It is so brassy and streaky, and for almost $300, this should be the best lowlights/highlights I have ever had. I have never in my life spent so much money getting my hair done. I usually wear my hair up and it looks awful. When it's down, I have to be sure to part it in a certain way for it to look good. Otherwise, you can see places she missed. So many people that usually ask where I get my hair done has told me my hair looks awful, but I'm not going back and I can't justify spending anymore on my hair so soon. I think she was being extremely unethical in her business practice and, needless to say, I will not be going back and I do not recommend. *If she posts pics saying how great my hair looks, it is parted in a good spot. As I said above, it needs to be parted in certain areas to look good when it is down. Please let my photos of her work speak for themselves. Her color and application is beyond horrible. Update: she also lies. Her response is a lie. I did tell her I was looking for a new stylist because she does fry my hair, but I also told her I was very happy with the health of my hair now because I had cut off 3" a few months back and didn't want to damage it again. It has been about 5 months since i last put blonde in my hair. I have since just been doing lowlights. I walked in with VERY healthy hair. I also told her I love how my stylist did my hair just not that she damaged it. I never booked for another service and scheduled a different service because again I like my hair darker. I had to reschedule the original service because something came up. I also did not go back to give her a chance to fix it because I didn't want to chance getting more services done that I didn't ask for and pay more money to her. Seeing her lie of a response shows me I made the right call. I did end up getting it fixed by another stylist and am extremely happy. I couldn't wait a couple of months for this horrible dye job to grow out. Honestly, the fact that I hate my hair is not the main purpose of this review, and if that was the only problem, I probably wouldn't have written anything because that's just the risk you take going to a new colorist. The main purpose is that she did things to my hair that I didn't ask for and she didn't ask me to do them. So she can say all she wants her prices are posted and I should have known, but the reality is that I could have known her prices like the back of my hand and it wouldn't matter because she rang up the tab by just doing what she wanted. I will not be going back and forth with her. The fact is she is unethical and lies and you should question everything if you do decide to give her a try.
