WARNING -- DO NOT GO HERE I am devastated by the way my hair and scalp were handled at this salon. After a simple root touch-up, the stylist applied strong bleach to my dry, previously lightened ends and left it on far too long. My scalp burned and smoked -- I have photos and video -- and by the time it was rinsed, I had lost a significant amount of hair. I am not exaggerating: I lost about half of my hair that day. My scalp now has painful sores. When I began crying from the pain and shock, the stylist showed no sympathy. The owner eventually washed my hair because of the scene I was making, but the person who applied the bleach appeared unconcerned the entire time. Other local stylists who have seen my hair were shocked at the level of lift used and how long it was left on. I have cosmetology training (Paul Mitchell), so I know this was over-processing and should have been addressed immediately. This was not a simple accident -- the damage could have been prevented if proper technique and care had been used. I have the stylist's license number, photos, and video evidence. I am pursuing legal action and will be reporting this incident to the state cosmetology board. I will also be sharing my experience publicly so others can make an informed decision. I came in for a haircut on a Sunday morning. Prior to coming in, I called and asked how much a haircut would cost for medium length hair. The receptionist didn't seem to know the prices of any of their services and checked with someone before getting back to me. She told me $50 for a cut, wash and blowout. Most Aveda salons offer a $20 coupon for first time visits. I found that coupon on their website as well as another for $25 off a "full service", and asked if I could use the $20 coupon towards my cut. Again, the receptionist asked someone, but then confirmed. When I cam into the salon about 30-40 minutes later, the receptionist and my stylist told me the coupon was only valid towards color.... though the coupon clearly states it can be used towards cuts, color, massage, threading etc. They refused to accept it. At this point I was already at the salon and didn't want to go through the trouble of finding another salon that was open on a Sunday so I sat down. The cut itself was fine, I asked for a pretty simple style and had pictures to show what I wanted, however the coupon situation left a bit of a bad taste in my mouth. To top it all off, when it came time to pay (at which point the receptionist again asked the stylist how much my service cost), I was charged $55 though on the phone I was told a cut, wash and style was $50. I didn't even bother pointing that out though as I didn't think that would go in my favor. Both were very nice, but didn't seem to have their facts straight on how much things should cost and what the policies were. At the end of the day, I did like my haircut, but this situation would make me nervous about getting a more expensive/permanent treatment like coloring or a keratin treatment. Last time I had my hair cut, I went to Zena Salon (also an Aveda salon and near by) and had such a wonderful experience. I got a cut, wash, blowout, mini conditioning treatment and massage for only $40 PLUS you can use the $20 coupon on a $60 purchase (don't quote me on that, but that is what I remember their policy being. You can also get a product to get up to the minimum purchase). I would have gone there if it had been open on Sundays. Next time I will just wait till Zena is open and go there instead. read more

Two stars because the staff was friendly. I was there on Sunday and my hair was mercilessly butchered. I ended up with a very short haircut that is not even close to what I asked for (see photo). I showed the stylist a picture of what I wanted which I think it wasn't difficult to attain. My hair was medium length so she could've done this perfectly, she even assured me that the haircut will not be that short at the back... next thing I know half of my hair was already in the floor. There was nothing I could do at the time, only to let the stylist finish the job. She completely ignored everything I said and all I can do now is to let my hair grow and never go back to that place. They sell Aveda products but I would look elsewhere if you want an "Aveda Salon" I have been going to Aveda Solons for 25 years and this is without question the most pitiful example I have ever seen. They butchered my hair after getting very clear instructions and ignoring them. Then I go outside to wait and my wife's pissed because her stylist did the exact same thing. Disregarded what she wanted and ruined her hair on the same day, not to mention charged almost twice what their website says. It was out first visit and we won't be back. There is NO WAY their staff here is Aveda trained - I call their bluff. I would compare them to a Supercuts at best! read more

I went here to get my hair cut. I asked for a trim on my, already existing, bangs. The stylist grabbed an entirely new chunk of my hair, not paying attention to where my hair naturally parts, and cut bangs into it. When I told her that I didn't particularly like it, I was told that it looked good. It does not look good and there is not much I can do because they are bangs. The hair dresser/colorist (Olivia) did an amazing job with coloring and cutting my hair. I went to this salon since they have the products I prefer to use. Additionally, I prefer Aveda hair products, since it works great and it doesn't damage your hair like other products do. The only downside is the cost of services is a bit pricier than what I typically pay on hair services. However, Olivia did a great job with my hair! Thanks! read more

The "stylist" said that for my hair not have any waves and have a style to it ... that was extra. Not really sure what I wasted $45 on. When I got home and fixed my hair I found wet strands. Came here in a whim to get my hair cut, I called and they were able to get me in same day. The cut itself was fine, I was a little concerned because I'm used to the hair being cut in sections but here nothing was pulled up just snip snip snip. My hair came out a little shorter than expected and the long layers I requested ended up being a little shorter but it'll grow out. The one thing I was shocked about was price- $65 for a cut and style. I found this a little much but maybe it's the area. Either way I'll keep this place on my list as a go to if needed. read more

I just got my hair done here on Tuesday for the first time and i dont recommend anyone one to go here! Faye was the one to cut and partial high lite my hair. She was very nice and the building is beautiful but my hair cut is horrible and my high lites are nothing to brag about. I didn't ask for anything extreme just a basic 2inches off with a partial high lite. I paid $155 dollars plus a $10 dollar tip. I got home and i always shower and then straighten my hair after haircuts to make sure everything is good. Ive never had such a bad haircut! It is uneven all over the place. She also gave me a slight bob with it longer in the front which i did not ask for! I went back in Wednesday morning to get some type of refund so i can go get it fixed somewhere else as soon as they opened and another stylist remembered me and tried to help since Faye was not there. She said there wasn't much she could do unless i wanted to cut it all the way up to my chin! Im so upset and wont be using them ever again! read more

Awful!! If I could give it 0 stars I would. One week before my birthday I went to get a BANG TRIM that's it. I honestly didn't even have bangs had very short first layer to give me that bang look, which I explained. I told them to just trim that. Even showed her what I meant . Mina went Edward Scissor hands on my hair. She cut my curly hair dry, she didn't brush my hair, wash or even part it. SHE CUT OFF MY TANGLES INSTEAD OF BRUSHING THEM. I have very thick and curly hair. She cut my hair uneven. Gave me layers and these ugly short bangs on one side and then left the other side super long. I was suppose to pay $8 for a bang trim and ended up getting an ugly uneven hair cut. They had me pay $48 for worlds most ugliest hair cut ever. Worst haircut I have ever gotten. I was crying for days. I had to go to 2 different hair places for them to fix my hair. So much money wasted. The second hair place said my hair was so fucked up they were scared to try anything. The third place I went to was so kind and saved my hair. They turned that ugly hot mess haircut into a beautiful chic look. I tried to message them to complain and get my money back but nope. No response. They don't care. Look at all the negative looks for this salon and you will see a pattern. They don't give damn. As long as they got their money they don't care. I love my hair and haircuts are very scary for me. This was my worst nightmare come to life and charged me $48 on top of that. They are a business they don't care who they rip off. My issue if you don't know how to cut certain hair type don't do it. If you you are not clear, ask your client before you stop chopping hair off. I was disappointed in the customer service. Someone should of reached out and refunded me. This is my HAIR we are talking about. Terrible. I came here because I heard they did a good job , and then they fuck up my hair and pretend like nothing happen. If you are like me and care about your hair don't come here. Absolutely the worst place I have ever been. I went there for my balayage to be redone. I went equipped with pictures and was very specific with the "stylist" Michelle. Not only did she charge me about $500 to basically bleach all of my hair to the point of extreme damage, but 2 other kind stylists had volunteer their time to try to fix it. On top of all of this, I was told they would "make this right" but they refused to refund any of my money. They gave me a $50 gift certificate. I have never paid that much for my hair and the fact that it was damaged and not at all what I asked for is even more appalling, to add insult to injury they charged me an exuberant amount of money and wouldn't refund even a portion back. I have been dealing with the damage of this disaster for about 10 months now. I have had to do expensive condition treatments several times and not use any color at all until this grows out some. I've also had to cut my hair shorter than I'd like because of this. Do yourself a favor and go some where else. I typically don't leave reviews, even when a place is bad. However, this was so bad and has had such long term impact on my hair I felt compelled to warn people so that no one else has to deal with this. Avoid this place! Came here today after trying to find a stylist in the Ricmond area that does African American hair. Salon is beautiful abs I was instant greeted when I walked in. My stylist was Falon...and she is simply amazing. She was able to answer all my questions I had about my hair as well as things that I had plans on doing to my hair in the future. She talked me through everything she was doing step by step since this was my first appointment with her. Overall I am very pleased with Falon and the with that she did. I had an amazing experience. Falon did my color and hair trim. I was so nervous my hair is growing out from a pixie and my cuts have been looking like mullets recently. She listened and shaped the cut. She also did balayage on my mini bob and it turned out really fantastic! I don't like uniform highlights and she made it look more natural.
