I had an absolutely amazing experience with Meagan at Hair by Mandy. Just like everyone else during quarantine, I was beyond overdue for a color and cut and Meagan was so kind, understanding to my wants, and attentive to everything I had to clean up. I've come to Mandy a few times now and each time she's exceeded my expectations, not only with her cuts but also with her color work. I've lived in LA for 8 years and finding a hair place I loved had been a struggle for me. I'm pretty introverted about the whole thing and just wasn't able to find a good fit until I went and saw Mandy. First of all she books her appointments by text. AMAZING! Why doesn't everyone do this, we're all busy and phone calls are awkward. Love it. It made booking an appointment so easy. Secondly, her super cute small studio is a blast to come and chill out in. I love the tiny vibe and not having a lot of other stylists in there make it a lot more relaxing than the large studio atmosphere I'm used to. It's all preference on that one really, but it's very welcoming and chill in there. Thirdly, Mandy is just really insanely good at what she does. Her portfolio has a wealth of fun colors and it's usually what I gravitate to but I opted for more natural blonde highlights because I couldn't decide on colors and she rocks at that too! Mandy is a magician! I found Mandy through yelp 5 years back when I moved to Burbank and I absolutely fell in love with her work. She loves her work a lot and is very dedicated towards it so that shows in the results. I get haircut from her every 3-4 months and have gotten highlights a couple of times. Her work is brilliant every time, I get so many compliments for my hair always. All my friends loved my cut and color and have started going to Mandy for their haircuts and color needs. When I got my black Indian hair colored, it was difficult to see the red color that I was expecting but Mandy took so much efforts to make the color right until I was very happy with the outcome. First I'd like to say that Ive been working in salons and spas for 13 years... So I know what Im talking about. Mandy is the best! Now... She wasn't my first stylist in LA... But she IS my last. 6 years with her and not a complaint, and Im picky!! I have challenged her with MANY drastic style changes over the years and each was on point! I have gone from long and blonde, to long and black to short and blonde to ombré with beautiful results. Understand that going from dark to light is a process. Most do not understand this because they are impatient... But patience is a virtue, especially if you want pretty blonde hair and not dead hay looking blonde hair... In 2013 we chopped of my long black locks and did a SUPER structured cut that most of my stylist friends were afraid of it... Mandy wasn't! An asymmetrical bob that showed my neck in the back but went past my collar bone in the front. Strangers and customers alike would stop me and ask where I had my hair cut! Hand to God! She's great with color. Great with cuts, and her prices can't be beat! When my coworkers asked me last month how much my lovely new do just cost... They almost fainted in shock stating they pay that alone for their ombré, yet my out the door price included ombré, cut, style and tip. This was my first time getting my hair professionally colored and I couldn't have been more satisfied with my experience! My daughter and I booked in for haircuts with Mandy in the evening. We found the photography shop and managed to get a park around the corner which was great as it is usually hard to find a parking spot in that part of Burbank. Mandy was ready and waiting for us when we arrived. It is a small salon in the back of the photo studio, and we had to switch chairs between washing/cutting hair, but it was nice and cosy, and warm and welcoming. Loved the decor with vintage hairdryers on display. Mandy got down on her knees to cut my daughter's long hair, and she was great in making sure the hair wasn't too layered as the natural curls tend to frizz otherwise. She also cut a few inches off my thin straight hair to make it look fuller and healthier. We gossiped all through our session with Mandy and she was fun to talk to. I wish we had managed to fit in colour as well as cuts as it is obviously Mandy's speciality. Maybe next time :) read more

I went to LA to visit my sister during July 4th weekend and since La opened up their hair salons (vs SF which is still closed) i knew I had to get my cut when I went down. I texted Mandy for an appointment and since I had limited days she made sure I got in and they wete nice and flexible about it. My appointment was with Meagan and it was just us one on one in the salon. That was nice since it is an enclosed space with no outdoor airflow that there weren't more people. We both had masks and I did use my share of hand sanitizer. Meagan was super personable and that's important to me for someone to be engaging. I've definitely gotten my hair done where the stylist didn't talk to me at all. I told her what I wanted and she started cutting my long, long hair (that I was keeping for my now postponed wedding) into a long bob. I told her I wanted it all straight vs A line (which I use to get) but i wanted to try something different. It turned okay...but did not turn out how I envisioned. I've been to Mandy's salon before for a hair cut and I knew she was an amazing colorist, so I booked an appointment. She did so freaking amazing. First of all she worked with my budget which is amazing . She walked me through what she would be doing to my hair. She explained everything so clearly. I found Mandy via Yelp when I was on the search for amazing funky colorists. Her picture profile floored me, and I was super excited to try her out. Worst case, it's hair and it grows out. So, I'm the type of woman that has only gone to a salon maybe 3 or 4 times during my adult life. I don't usually blow dry or style my hair. Mandy & I exchanged details via text and I sent her a couple pictures of the coloring I was looking for. I wanted something slightly of a higher quality than a straight line 'dip'. She had an opening two weeks from the first contact time, so I jumped on that. The day arrived, and I went to the studio. The door was locked. I was a bit early, so I hung around, and she showed up right on time. I was going to be adding purple ends to box red hair. She had me bleached and colored all in about 2 hours. I was kind of inwardly freaking out because she was applying the pigment straight onto my wet hair, but the color took. Since it was so late in the evening, I didn't need drying or styling, so I went on my merry way. The next day I was a bit put off because the purple was sooo much darker than anticipated (I was afraid she had layered black with a purple tint), but now that a couple of weeks have passed, it has washed out to the perfect purple that I was looking for. About 2 years ago, I found Mandy on Yelp. I contacted her, and she did a consultation over text (perfect for me, because my time is limited and I wasn't driving yet). My hair was still predominantly brown with blue underneath. After a long day of bleaching and coloring, I walked out with newfound confidence and a glamorous head of blue and neon green hair. Since then, Mandy has colored my hair 3 more times. You can find two of these looks in the photos- they both show my signature blue and neon green color scheme. Additionally, she typically uses Pravana dye on my hair, which usually lasts me 2 months, with careful washing, before I need to touch it up. I plan to continue going to her until I have to revert back to brown for professional reasons :( . When I get my hair done, it's like coming to see a friend. Mandy is seriously a miracle worker. The first time I went in I just got a haircut (the first since 2019 thanks Covid!) and she fixed that mess.
