I had a wonderful experience with Mandy. I came to her with long, damaged hair in desperate need of an expert cut and reparative treatment. I hadn't been to a hair salon in quite some time and was nervous that the state of my hair would be impossible to mend and probably require a short haircut after trying so long to grow it out. The second I sat in her chair and she assessed my hair, I knew I had come to the right place. I didn't feel judged, but rather heard and seen. Everything about my haircut with Mandy was exceptional. First of all, and this matters, she's really nice and has the most adorable dog Ziggy. But the cut! I just needed a simple bob and have been getting haircuts for 70 years. The thing is the bob for me is not simple. I have very fine hair and not a lot of it so cutting it right is tricky. Hair by Mandy and Meg was a wonderful experience and result for my daughter getting her hair done for the first time in a while. The shop: Very light and beautiful with many eclectic pieces of art and items around the space. Just walking in will be a cheerful experience. There's also a very handsome and chill doorman by the name of Ziggy who will charm your pants off and even share his chew toys if you're nice. The service: From the beginning both Mandy and Meg were very open and easy to talk to for my daughter. It was great to see her engaging with both stylists and have them show active listening skills while working on what turned out to be amazing hair styles for whomever was in the chair. Before the session started, Mandy spent time with my daughter, talking about what she was looking for. She also looked at the pictures my daughter brought in and showed her some of her own, so it was very clear they were on the same page before the cutting and color began. The results: It's really a beautiful cut and color. My daughter asked for "chunky calico highlights with a raccoon tail," and we walked out with exactly what she wanted. During the 2020 lockdowns I looked at all the actions I wasn't taking because of "What if I don't like it? What if I get tired of it?"; throughout the pandemic I learned to take each action, even in spite of those inner fears! My close friends know that I've always wanted rainbow / unicorn hair. Excellent in so many ways!!! Mandy makes everything so easy when you text her for an appointment. She has this open communication right away and wants to see your hair as it is and asks what you'd like to do and sets very reasonable expectations for the whole coloring process. I did a lot of Yelp research having just moved to this area and I just relied on these reviews to help me pull the trigger on going to her. I knew that what I wanted was not anything easy and Mandy's coloring skills are so out of this realm! I loved it. I booked an appointment, and she just sent me a link via e-mail for me to reserve the a lot with a $50 deposit that goes toward the overall amount, which was excellent for me because two payments over a month is was at better for me! I booked about a month in advance and had plenty of time to look forward to our appointment. Mandy texted me to confirm the appointment I think 48 hours before. I confirmed. I was so excited! Finally, my day comes (and I really needed new color, my hair was feeling and looking just terrible): and I wake up and I have the worst headache IN THE WORLD. I've seriously never had my head hurt so bad in my whole life. I took a nap and just woke up right in time for my appointment. I was so psyched, there was absolutely no way I was going to cancel. So I go and meet Mandy and her coworker Megan, and this salon is so freaking adorable with a tiny chihuahua just napping in her bed on the floor and I tried so hard to be a functional human being but I simply couldn't. Mandy has a very soft-handed demeanor and it was so relaxing despite my headache from hell. I'm pretty sure I fell asleep at least twice but when I got out of there my hair was pretty freaking epic.
