Took my brother here for a fresh do and we couldn't have asked for a better experience! It was his first time at a barber (he's only ever gone to a lady that's been cutting our whole family's hair since forever) and he's definitely converted. Marc is amazing and super accommodating! We had a few reference pictures and he adapted our ideas into what would look and work best. Throughout the cut they had some interesting conversations about everything ranging from rugby to the best soondubu spot! After the cut he explained how to best style and maintain it. I got a hair perm three weeks ago and now it's all gone. Curls on the back went away after only few days and curls on the sides went away in a week. And the top and front curls also slowly disappeared two weeks in. When I had my hair permed in other hair salons, they all lasted through months. There is definitely something wrong with the way he does a perm and I do not recommend anyone getting their hair permed here if they want a perm that lasts. read more

I actually got my hair cut four weeks ago but it has grown out really well. It is a private one-man shop so I feel much safer especially during Covid-19. Marc is very patient and skilled and I'm glad I found him. He understands the head shape difference in different races that is important in shaping your cut that I found many hairstylists seem to not consider. I am a bit disappointed in having to write this review. Marc is a great guy and I liked him when I first found him in 2020. I even went to his garage during pandemic. And this obviously isn't indicative of everybody's experience but this is solely my own. The last few times I've gone has been less than stellar. Ever since that little TV has been installed, I feel like the entire time there's no conversation just watching the TV. And I know that the texting is necessary but it's odd to see someone stop a haircut to answer texts. It became somewhat impersonal. And if I wanted that, I could've just gone to a no name barber shop not a reputable hairstylist. But specifically for my hair, it took me 8 months to grow my hair out and I wanted to try a trim or somewhat of a two block, kind of layer it. But what I instead got was a regular American undercut. It looks ok but I specifically kept saying that I just wanted to trim it out and I wanted to grow it out. But I do realize that there was probably miscommunication when we were talking about the sides. I wanted it trimmed and shortened but I suppose it came out as do it short. So I take responsibility for that. I am now in the process of finding another hairstylist, possibly ktown which sucks because I wanted to stay here for the long haul. I am extremely disappointed, I love this guy so don't attack me. I'm not saying anything other than my own personal experience. read more

I am usually easy with my ratings, but if I could I would give Marc 10 stars. I'm a full Chinese male has always had very straight, pointy hair throughout my life. I decided that as I turned 18 recently, changing my style would be a great way to transition. Marc was the perfect person to go for this. He is a genius at working with Asian hair and puts customer's comfortability as a highest priority. Best of all, he lets you watch TV while he does his thing. The husband has been here a number of times and has been the most happy with having Marc cut his hair. I had been urging him to go to a Korean hairstylist, since I feel they have a good handle of cutting Asian hair. I'm happy that I was right. Marc starts and ends the cut with a wash. My husband loves the minty eucalyptus shampoo that he uses. The whole cut is scissored, which I really appreciate because you have to pay close attention. Just a personal preference. I've been going to get my hair done at Mark Jung's hair salon for over 3 years now. Where ever he moved, I followed him because he's THAT good!! He's very nice and even if you dont have any clue how you want your hair done, he will recommend this or that ways and get it done for you. I always have been satisfied with his work. I will continue to get my hair done from him as long as I can. He does very nice with hair color especially. He always use the best products to keep my hair quality good. I have been getting my hair cut by Marc for months now and it has always been a great experience. He pays close attention to detail and does a fantastic job; whether it is a haircut, perm, color or a shave. Since I moved to Orange County, I've been actively looking for a hair salon that has the skills to handle Asian hair and Marc's technique is amazing. Out of the many stylist/barbers I have tried here, he is the only one who gets it right. He is able to explain the techniques and how the haircut will frame my face and look best. He knows what will look good, how it will grow out, and look over time which helps when you want a particular style. Marc is very understanding and good at listening to what I want while giving non-pressure feedback. Another great thing to point out is that Marc is ALWAYS punctual and never late to any of our appointments. I like to get to my sessions at least 15 minutes early and he is always there (usually with another client) and ready to go! So many of my previous stylists have either shown up late, called in late, or just right on time to which then takes them another 10 minutes to set everything up before getting to the actual haircut. When you are on a full schedule like myself, being on time is something I expect and appreciate from any working professional! Overall, I highly recommend Marc especially if you are super anal and nervous about trying a new stylist. He is very calm, reassuring, listens to your needs and is great at communicating what he is doing before he does it.
