This review was from 12/2023. There was a special that I made an appt for and it included wash, deep condition, blowout, and style. I think the owner should just stick to colors/ curling (that's apparently the main style on her IG page, which is pretty don't get me wrong, but the service I went in for was just a waste of time for me). It lasted less than an hour, and my hair was long, thick, and frizzy. The "deep condition" felt like regular shampoo treatment as it was a quick wash. The blow out part is what disappointed me the most, I had to go home and retouch it with a straightener. It was like she didn't care about the special she ran. It was in and out, quality of service was not there, and my hair was just blown out without using a straightener after, and that's why it sucked. You would think, for a person w/ a hair business, they'd know to use a flat iron after initially blowing it out. Oh well. I left w/ frizzy hair, and rushed home to literally straighten it myself, although the whole point of the appt was so I didn't have to do it myself. *UPDATE*: owner replied to me (below) and through text pretty quick. I just wanted to make a note that it's nothing personal, and she was very nice during the appt, I just don't recommend for people w/ thick waves/ frizz to expect a smooth finish. A blowout does not have to include an iron after, but I honestly think it should just be known to smooth out the hair when it's coarse and thick like mines is for quality purposes. I've done lots of blowouts and the stylists normally end it that way because of the hair I have. I should have said something after the appt, but I didn't want to pay more if I had to ask to straighten it. But then again, I guess it wouldn't have hurt to ask so that's a fail on my part. I was following Michlenn for a couple of months now, but didn't book with her since I was already with someone else who was much closer to where I lived. However, I decided to just suck it up and make the drive to Ewa because I was seriously in love with her work! And it was 110% WORTH IT. I had long, thick, damaged, colored hair and really wanted to just chop everything off and start fresh again. Since I didn't know what my hair needed when I was booking online, I messaged her for help. She responded very quickly and told me what services I needed for a successful first session with her. I really liked how she broke down the pricing of all her services, and gave a heads up for extra charges if your hair needs a lot of product. Hair story: I had box dye color treated hair. My hair had been box dyed in black for about 2 years before going to Michlenn. She will tell you straight up that your first session will be to color correct your hair. I went in not expecting my hair to lift that much at all, but it lifted quite a bit. The second photo is the result of my first session. The third photo is the result of my second session. TRUST THE PROCESS. What I love about Michlenn is that she won't sugar coat it. When you send her photos of the end result that you want, she will tell you how many sessions it might take for you to get the color result you want. It's only my second time getting my hair done with Michlenn and with those times, I leave their salon feeling so good with my hair! The first time I tried to get my hair done from virgin hair to a light ashy color was at a different salon and different hairstylist. But after few weeks I regreted it because my hair turned into yellowish blonde(which doesnt look good on me). Then a month passed, I was thankful that I found Michlenn's video about her explaining to her clients that virgin hair to a lighter color will take alot of process and sessions because she don't want to let her clients walk around with them dead hair. Like what I experienced. So I tried booking with her to fix it. I felt better that first time I went to her. And damn, the ashy brown color on my hair actually stayed for months. Then I felt like I needed a better tone for my hair since my black hair was out growing. I seriously felt better the second time I went to her. I initially met Michlenn at a different salon for a haircut, but she just recently moved to this location. This was the second time I've had my hair done by her. I realized she was 2 blocks up the road from my house & I was looking for a new stylist so I decided to DM and try. My balayage looked amazing (only took 2hrs at most) and spur of the moment we decided to cut my hair a lot shorter than I planned and I absolutely loved it!!! We even went lighter and my hair wasn't completely dried out and still soft and manageable. Flash forward to May 2018: I wanted to go A LOT lighter so I followed Mich to her new salon which coincidently is up the road from my BF's house. Michlenn followed me on IG through her business profile which is how I found her. I saw her work and she does an amazing job. I figured it was time to get my hair done again since it's been about 2 years. Her profile shows you exactly how to make an appointment. I texted her and followed the instructions and she was able to schedule me my requested date. The location is in Kapolei past the CROC Center. The place is new so if you're going to map it, make sure you download or use the Waze app! It took me straight to the address and I didn't get lost. You can either park on the other side of the houses or you can park in the marked stalls (337, 338, or 339). The place literally looks like a house so I was a bit confused but they did have their sign out. I went by the entrance and waited for Michlenn to text me back saying I was there and if I could just come in lol and she told me yes. Once you go inside, there's a little waiting room you can sit in. I sat down for about 5 minutes bc she was finishing up with a client. Once it was my turn, she asked me if I wanted water or hot tea which I thought was very nice! She showed me the pics that I sent her of how I wanted my hair to be and she wanted to make sure I was sure with what I wanted. I asked for her opinion and we opted for an ashy cool tone balayage since it would match my skin tone better. I also asked for a She told me exactly what she was going to do on my hair and we literally talked the whole 4 hours that she worked on my hair bc she was so easy to talk to! She's super friendly and sweet! Once my hair was done, I saw the results and I couldn't have been more happy with how it turned out! It was exactly what I wanted! She also automatically scheduled me for my next appointment for my toner. My total came out to $235 which is a very reasonable price for the amount and type of work that I got done.
