Late post! So I had Yelped a hair stylist in Vancouver and sent Shadi (Shawdee) an inquiry for a hair fix. She was quick to respond and I scheduled my appt to treat my hair and have it lightened. Wow! That's some amazing service right there. Check out her before and after pictures. Great location. Salons name is Seasons. Located on the second floor. Multiple businesses in this house. give her a ring! Make sure you explain the history of your hair before any work is started. I made that mistake but she's willing to work with me to get me my desired look. I had a really great experience with Shandi. First, the communication was great to coordinate an appointment. The salon is super cute, in this little converted house, with multiple services. Shandi was super helpful discussing my hair goals and the pros and cons of coloring. I found Shadi on Yelp after deciding to finally treat myself to some new hair! This was my second time seeing her. At my first visit, we had a consultation and she bleach tested a strand of my hair and after realizing it was pretty damaged, we decided to try an Olaplex treatment for a few months and then come back. I really appreciated Shadi's honesty about the health of my hair and that she wasn't just out to make money and damage my hair more. I've heard horror stories about stylists bleaching clients hair when it really shouldn't be because of how damaged their hair already was. I knew I would be returning to Shadi once my hair got healthier. A few months past and I went back yesterday and had my hair done and I love it! Went in to have my haircut "cleaned up" after, regretfully, seeing another hair stylist who wasn't very good, imho. Shadi was very sweet, and took great care in cutting my hair to my liking. She made sure to ask where my natural part was before starting, did some texturizing to help it not poof out at the sides, and evened it out around the bottom. I had really made a mess of my hair. Out of bordom I was playing with it during the Covid lockdown as many have. I used direct dye which is unlike regular hair dye. Color remover doesn't work, it requires some other products and if done improperly, it can be disastrous. I was impressed with her perfectly icy blondes and I saw here on Yelp and I was not disappointed. I first went for a consultation and learned she knows what she's doing and makes certain to protect your hair the best way possible. I reached out to Shadi based on the good reviews but they did not match my experience. I texted for an appointment and she said she would get back to me at the end of the day. A few days later she finally texted around 9:30pm asking if I could come in the next day. Thinking this was a little unprofessional I responded the next day confirming the appointment. I asked for some thinning since it had been awhile and I had hair down to my waist. She suggested thinning from the root which I had never heard of and it made me nervous. I expressed this and she showed me on her hair by cutting a few strands close to the scalp. I was still nervous but thought if she was willing to do it to her hair that I would trust her. Big mistake. When she started thinning it sounded like she was cutting large swaths of hair and when I got home I was almost in tears feeling several rows of half centimeter long hairs that feel like whiskers. She cut way thicker patches on me than on herself. I had also asked for tapering in the back and she said I would have shorter length on the sides and longer in the middle. I understood this from having it done in the past but I have no idea what she did. It basically looks like two separate layers with no blending. She cut my hair dry which I always hate because my hair is super wavy so it doesn't come out even. This is seriously the worst hair cut I've ever had and it cost double what it normally does. I couldn't tell how bad it was until I got home or I would have asked for my money back. It is humiliating to walk around with this terrible cut and it's going to take at least a year to grow back with the patches of a buzz cut underneath. I'm sure that's going to look terrible growing out. Not to mention the salon is dirty and unwelcoming. Now I don't even have the length to be able to get it fixed. I guess it's ponytails for me for awhile. I'm so sad and angry that I let her so this and so confused as to why there are so many good reviews. This was the worst haircut of my life and I'll be paying for it for awhile. read more
