Picture it. Los Angeles. March 2020. I'm a non recovered beauty shop whore used to getting my do done weekly. In walked Covid-19 saying Nope. Everything shuts down. I do the best I can with my hair for 2+ months. Finally the governor says California salons can open back up... I shed internal tears of joy. Then I hear in all but 11 counties. And guess what...LA county is one of the 11 that can't open yet.. When can they open??? Not sure. So I got to yelp and look for African American Salons in surrounding counties because I can't take this hair anymore. I come across Hair By Wynsome. She has great reviews but the pictures I see are all long hair, weaves and braids so I'm not sure if she does short hair. So I send a message through yelp and she responds quickly. I set up an appointment for the next day. So Thursday (today) arrives and I make the drive from Sherman Oaks to Ontario. I realize I'm at a very nice apartment complex. I wonder if I am I about to get my hair washed in a kitchen sink. But I don't really care if I had to get my hair washed in the shower at this point because I needed it done so badly. Anywho, I go up the elevator and walk into her spot. First, I had to take off my shoes at the door where she had clean slippers for me to change into. Then I clean my hands with sanitizer. And though I had my own she also had disposable masks. I then sat my purse down because I thought this was gonna be a kitchen/living room job but nope. I was escorted to another room which was the salon. It looked like any other salon but just happens to be in her home. A chair, hair washing sink, dryer, and small couch. Super clean. You can tell she put a lot of effort into setting it up. She only has one client had a time. We both had masks on the entire time so I felt super safe. My hair is super cute. I'd definitely return and will probably make another appointment. Oh and she's very personable. So if you're looking for a stylist in the Ontario area or if you're like me and you're in LA with bad hair I'd recommend Wynsome. read more

I have been searching for a stylist in Rancho Cucamonga for 3 years now. I have been looking for someone who understands and can style natural hair, is prompt, works on one client at a time (doesn't double-triple- book) and is reasonably priced, and of course, can slay some hair. Wynsome exceeds all those criteria and in addition, Is probably the fastest stylist I have been too. She was able to take down my sew-in, wash, dry and install a new sew-in within 2 hours!! I was looking for a hairstylist. A few months ago I purchased hair from a new shop and one of the sales person stated that she does hair. Long story short, it did not work out. I was able to schedule an appointment with Wynsome quickly. I was happy that she was able to accommodate my schedule. I can't say enough good things about Wynsome. My experience with Wynsome was wonderful. I decided to go with Wynsome because after looking through her business page I saw that one of her specialty was extensions. After arriving at her salon, she asked a few questions about how I want my hair styled and provided suggestions. I felt like she genuinely wanted to give me a good hairstyle, she went above and beyond to make me happy, and I truly appreciated that. After styling my hair, she provided information on products that would help me maintain my hairstyle and she was patient when working on my hair. Best of all she was able to get me in quickly. I had been doing my own hair for about a year which was a task that I did not enjoy, but I persevered. I met Wynsome at a business establishment. We struck up a conversation and she asked if she could give me her business card. At that time Wynsome said she was a hair stylist. Figuring I had nothing to lose so I set up an appt. for the following week. Wynsome was not "salesy" at all; her personality was very pleasant. As with anything that is new, I was a little apprehensive but not enough for me not to keep my appointment. I'm so glad that I did. Wynsome did not disappoint me. I say this with sincerity--I found a rare gem when I found Styles by Wynsome. I have soft, delicate African American hair and often have a hard time finding a stylist who isn't too rough on my hair or heavy-handed on my scalp; since I'm tender-headed. But I was fortunate to find her in my local area no less. She's very gentle on her clients' head and hair, but does the job right and fast! I've always wanted to try protective styles like braids and faux locs, but have heard nightmare stories about them causing breakage and alopecia due to the tightness done on the scalp. Once I decided to give it a go with Wynsome, I've never gone to anyone else. She doesn't add in excessive amounts of hair so it makes styles super light, and fresh. Her hands absolutely fly so she gets protective styles done hours sooner than you'd expect, and unlike a lot of "protective style" stylists, she actually cares about the health of her clients' hair and does the best method to encourage growth retention. I found Wynsome on yelp and this is the first time I had my hair done by her, and I'm very satisfied with the way she did my hair. I had a full sew in with closure and normally I get nervous to have my hair done that way just because a lot of time it comes out looking like a wig. This time this hairstyle came out looking very natural. Wynsome' work was flawless and she worked very fast. This was three days ago since I had my hair done and so far I've received a lot of compliments on it. Also wynsome was very helpful and resourceful and answered all my questions and addressed my concerns. Also, I like the fact that at the hair salon in Rancho Cucamonga people gets to have their privacy while having their hair done because you get to have your own private room which has a door on it. Winsome was an absolute God send for my hair care needs. I needed to have my weave re-done to achieve a more natural look so after looking at all of the reviews and photos on-line I decided to book an appointment. She was very professional and very attentive. She asked how I wanted my hair styled and after telling her she said that would be fine then she asked if I wanted her opinion on styling options and of course I said yes. Thankfully I listened to her advice because I haven't stopped getting compliments on my hair since I left the shop. My hair looked so good that when my sister saw it she immediately booked an appointment. She loved her services as well and planned to book another appointment. I had really damaged hair from relaxers a few years ago and I came to Winsome for help. She brought my hair back to health. She has this special hair conditioner that she used on my hair that left my hair feeling soft and moisturised, she called it her "hair crack". Needless to say, I am loving my hair. I have been going to Winsome for a while now and I have been satisfied every single time she does my hair! Last summer, my hair had become very damaged from previously perming it and trying to transition to going perm-free, so I thought I had to cut it all off. I went to Winsome expecting to have to do a big chop, but she let me know that I didn't need to, and she gave me the cutest hair cut that ended somewhere right below my ears. I let her know that I want my hair to grow out long again, but this time healthy. Six months later, and my hair is now past my shoulders and very healthy! My hair is very thick and coarse, and not many people know how to condition or flat iron my hair well enough to my satisfaction, but Winsome does every time. She has also done my weaves a couple of times, and they always come out natural looking. Beyond her great service and work, she's very nice, the shop environment is very inviting, and she is fair. I've always hated sitting in a shop all day long because some stylists overbook their clients, so thankfully Winsome doesn't do this. I get in, and I get out in a reasonable time, every time!
