She did an excellent job of walking me through my haircut and she made sure to talk to me and show me exactly what she was cutting. There are many hairstylists out there who do not take their clients wishes into account and decide to cut whatever they feel is best without their client's permission. I wanted to put a warning out here for anyone looking to get a haircut here. I got the most uneven trim that completely botched my hair and had to immediately call up another salon to fix it. I didn't ask Amy to fix it because I didn't think she could. Right when I arrived home my mom absolutely freaked out at how bad it was and wrote a Yelp review (that got taken down). I'm writing this so hopefully no one else has to go through the horror of what I did (And spend a ridiculous amount of money on two haircuts). I needed a change in my life (lmao) so I was desperately searching for hair stylists on yelp and instagram and found an amazing violet balayage by Amy Styles Me! And luck would have it, it was close to my home so I quickly texted Amy about appointments and was able to make one the same week. The whole processes was absolutely delightful. I first sent Amy pictures in advance of cut and color and she communicated very clearly about expectations and timing. When I got to her space, I was very impressed by how cute it was (and there were SNACKS!!). The whole process took around 6 hours (for bleach, color, and cut). She also apologized profusely for the amount of time it was taking but it was SO worth it because my hair looked absolutely fabulous after. Amy made sure the color, cut, everything was exactly what I wanted before letting me leave and really went the extra mile as my hair was not being "cool" that day. The fact that I spent the entire morning trying to find someone for a haircut but also take me in without an appointment. Amy, thank you ( because we did do a late appointment, 8pm). Upon arrival she made me feel comfortable just because I'm an awk person and I felt like our convo was natural but also I really liked how my hair turned out. My hair was extremely, dry, itchy scalp, and a little gross but I did have dandruff . after leaving her salon my hair felt refreshed and healthier and I did appreciate her making me comfortable enough to actually ask her about hair product recommendation and suggestions because I never did feel comfortable enough to ask anyone else and I always stayed quiet. I asked for curtain bangs, to cut off the really dry ends that I have, and a straight across cut just to even out my strands because I was cutting my own hair LOL. I also did enjoy the fact that her hair place was at a salon with their own cubicle. I personally don't like open space and was really looking for a place like this. Well... I made a mess of my own hair and needed help! I was trying to remove the color to have a "blank canvas." I didn't really know what I was doing and it showed. After using a product with 20 developer & peroxide my hair was patchy with 4 different colors. I was worried I might have to shave it off! I started looking for colorist on Yelp. I found a few and reach out. I was very impressed with Amy's response time. I gave her as much info that I could think of, which helped paint a better picture of what I needed. We spoke back and forth and finally settled on a color correction. So a day later I went in. She is located at the Sola Salon at the Westfeild Santa Anita Mall. The location is perfect as you are in your own room. Noone is looking in and watching you get your hair done. Amy analyzed my hair while I told her about what I had done. 5 hrs later and my hair is back to a normal color! I am so impressed by Amy's techniques and the care she took with my hair.
