I loved my color service but unfortunately I was not satisfied with the end results. It seemed that my stylist wasn't comfortable or confident in styling someone with my texture. I have thick coily 4c hair and I needed a silk press so my hair could be sleek and lay flat and smooth but unfortunately that was not achieved at all. I spent a total of $208 just to wake up the next day looking as if I had never gotten my hair done in the first place. read more

I have been bringing my mom here to have her hair cut by a nice lady named Cathy. We have tried several Hair Cuttery locations locally, but this one is the best. This place is quiet but does a good business with people in and out. I will say that a haircut with shampoo and blow dry is like $40. I think it's still $25 for a wet cut without the blow-dry but on a cold day, you gotta get the blow-dry, right? Right. Anyway, it's still a bargain to be in and out within 30 minutes with a nice haircut. Cathy gets bonus points for being a lovely person who understands that sometimes it may be difficult to explain things to an older person with memory issues-- she is patient. Cathy is kind and an excellent stylist. Thank you, Hair Cuttery at Parkville Shopping Center! We will be back in about 10-12 weeks. read more

let me start by saying that I very rarely complain so that goes to show how upset I am. last Saturday I came here for a haircut and had a photo, I had to, multiple times explain what I wanted... shoulder length with subtle layers. I didn't get to see my hair completed because paying an extra $18 for a blow dry seems crazy when I have one at home. As I'm paying I ask if they tint eyebrows and the woman said yes and took me back to one of the shampoo bowls where she assisted in the tint... I don't think this woman has ever in her life tinted a brow. The dye was glopped on in no discernible patter and I was shocked so asked her to fix it and she clearly had no idea what to do. I was horrified so paid my tab and left in tears. Thankfully, Ulta is close by. They helped me get the henna off my face and a very nice young lady at Ulta drew eyebrows on for me. I'm incredibly unhappy and my hair is a shit show! read more

I do not write bad reviews lightly. However, very displeased with my haircut from Rita. I specifically went to her as she has been cutting hair for years, got good reviews on yelp, and specifically asked her not to take a lot off (so nothing majorly bad could happen as I had never been to her before and had a traumatic hair experience in the past). I asked for a trim with long soft blended layers. I just wanted a basic clean polished long hairstyle. The layers are not soft or blended together at all and not even on opposing sides. She took a large amount off in the front and made it look like a long uneven mullet. She took quite a bit off the back too on top layer but not the rest of hair. It looks choppy and stair-steppy. Zero transition. I should have got up and walked away when she started saying that my previous haircut wasnt right but i was in the chair and she had already started. My regular person does a beautiful job and was hoping Rita could just take the unhealthy bits off and get me through. Didnt want anything major. She didnt show me the sides or back with a mirror when it was done-- so I didnt notice until after I left as my hair was wet. I went to a friends house who was really alarmed too by the quality of the haircut (and she is not a picky person). I am now going to have to get it cut above my shoulder or to my chin to get it fixed and going to now spend extra money that I was trying to save. I am very disappointed that she didn't refer me to someone else if she doesnt do long hair. She really did a number on mine. I am in shock that someone who has been cutting hair for years couldn't do a basic trim. Do yourself a favor and avoid. read more

I had an appt for the first time yesterday with Stevie and left very satisfied with her services. I had the full highlight package with cut & blow dry. The highlights are perfect (and blended well) along with the cut being exactly what I requested. Blonde has been challenging for a few past stylists so it was refreshing (and a relief...lol) to find a stylist who listened to what I wanted and actually got it done correctly. I was surprised to see that there was only one review on this hair Cuttery so far and that it was negative. I've been here twice, it's clean and the staff are friendly. I have just gotten trims and both times I used Kathie. She's great at what she does and she's quick. You can't beat the price at these locations. The previous reviewer was mad that her cut was more than the base amount but unless you select a hairdresser for your appointment it will automatically assign you to any open stylist, so if you're on a tight budget make sure to plan ahead. read more

I am so sad while writing this. To me mi hair is very important and for some reason I thought coming here was a good idea. my hair was long and healthy. I made an appt for a full balayage + highlights. The stylist started all the process and instead of using foil she used long cotton strips. I didn't like the idea and this was very uncomfortable to me. I just should have told her to stop but I decided to trust on her ( I mean even though I've got my hair done many times she should know was she's doing, she's a certified hairstylist and I am not) I asked her why She wasn't using foil instead and her response was that my hair was too long and she didn't have enough foil. And honestly I don't think this is a valid reason since I'm not getting this for free. I would have preferred for she to told me, hey at the moment we cannot do it because or this reason but she preferred to proceed instead. So she did the balayage, then washed my hair and dried we no heat protection or any hair treatment and she burn my hair, and then after that started to do the highlights. I wasn't facing any mirror because she preferred to work like that and I wasn't able to see the result until the end. I received a hair treatment but I wasn't okaplex (which I paid for) I told her I wanted a trim and she cut around 4 inches of hair ( after she burned a huge part of it) the highlights are tick and the color is not what I wanted at all. Even the haircut is not even at all. I don't understand what she did this and why she did it if she is not able to do this kind of hair styles. I pad $240 for this, it was my birthday present and I am not happy at all with the results. She told me to come back for her to "fix it" but I don't know if I this is a good idea after she doesn't even know how to do a haircut. I don't understand why a service is offered and people that doesn't have the knowledge nor the skill to perform this is doing it. This is very frustrating. read more

DO NOT GO TO THIS HAIR CUTTERY. I took my 12 year old daughter to get a haircut (1st one in over a year because we haven't gone to a salon during COVID). We walked in (i.e. didn't make an appointment ahead of time) and they said it would be an hour wait. I said no problem and we went to lunch.at Olympia next door and then to dollar tree to kill an hour. After an hour and a half Another 20 minutes pass by and there are no other people waiting anymore. I wait another 5 minutes and then ask if anyone is going to take my daughter as we had already waited for about an hour and a half. Finally an older lady stylist calls her back and asks what she wants done. I tell her she wants a cut with the back shorter and then it to taper down in the front and for the front to be slightly longer. Then she talks my daughter out of that style. My daughter gets overwhelmed with the questions and says nevermind just give me a trim because she can't answer all the specific questions the stylist is asking her. At this point I'm annoyed that she is now not going to get the cut she actually wanted but resign that a trim is better than nothing. Then I go sit back at the front where the waiting area is. Then the hairdresser brushes out her curly hair while its bone dry because she said she can't cut curly hair when its wet because it curls up and 1 inch off of curly hair wet is different than an inch dry. I roll my eyes thinking, yeah, obviously but shouldn't you still know how to cut curly hair? Then of course even asking for a basic trim was too much because she asks how she is supposed to trim it if there are uneven pieces. At this point I am already beyond annoyed, I said I don't really know, you are the hairdresser not me. Why don't you just give her layers? Then she asks how long I want each of the different layers. At this point I lose my patience and ask her what her problem is. We are not asking for anything that outrageous. Then she says she just wants to know exactly what we want which is why she is asking me so many questions and we aren't telling her what we want. Then the hair dresser throws up her arms and says I can't do this. The other stylist (who is dying the walk on client) that came after us tells me I'm being aggressive and that what do I want. I say I just want a haircut for my kid. Then she says she will cut my daughters hair after she finishes a dye job for a walk-in that cane after me but got served before me then she tells me I'm being unreasonable and causing a scene and can't just walk in on a saturday and expect to just get a haircut. I tell her I didn't expect that and that is why I already waited an hour and a half and the dye job person literally walked in and u took her before me. I say no I would just like a card with the managers name. The stylist (doing the dye job) says she's the manager and that she will not give me a card or her name or the hairdresser's name. At this point my daughter looks crazy because her curly hair has been brushed while dry into a giant mess. I say can you at least fix her hair by wetting it since we now have to go to try to find another salon. They say no again. I say fine if none of you will do that then I will do it myself. They then threaten to call the police on me if I touch the shampoo bottle, I say go right ahead and call them. I walk back and have my kid sit down and I wet her hair with the water and walked out. I have never had such unprofessional service. If you don't know how to cut hair then don't be a hair dresser. Giving 1 star only because it doesn't allow me to give 0 stars! read more

I made an appointment at the Hair Cuttery for myself and my two daughters over a week ago for a wash, cut, and blow-dry for today. I made it online, and I picked the package that includes all that that says it costs $26, and I got a confirmation email that the total would be $78 ($26 x 3). We went to the Hair Cuttery today for our appointment, and we had to wait twenty minutes (no big deal) and then two stylists came and took my daughters back and they told me I would be next. My daughters' stylists confirmed with me that their services would be $26 each. When a stylist finally took me, she asked me what I wanted, and after I told her, she said it would be $50. I said, "Why isn't it $26?" She said, "Because I'm a master stylist." I said, "I didn't ask for a master stylist." She said she would check if any lesser stylists (?) would be available that day, and then she said came back and told me that no, they were all booked. I asked to speak to a manager, and the manager told me that she could do my hair for me, but even she said it would cost $40 because of her skill level. I ended up not getting my hair done today.
