    I loved my color service but unfortunately I was not satisfied with the end results. It seemed that my stylist wasn't comfortable or confident in styling someone with my texture. I have thick coily 4c hair and I needed a silk press so my hair could be sleek and lay flat and smooth but unfortunately that was not achieved at all. I spent a total of $208 just to wake up the next day looking as if I had never gotten my hair done in the first place.

    let me start by saying that I very rarely complain so that goes to show how upset I am. last Saturday I came here for a haircut and had a photo, I had to, multiple times explain what I wanted... shoulder length with subtle layers. I didn't get to see my hair completed because paying an extra $18 for a blow dry seems crazy when I have one at home. As I'm paying I ask if they tint eyebrows and the woman said yes and took me back to one of the shampoo bowls where she assisted in the tint... I don't think this woman has ever in her life tinted a brow. The dye was glopped on in no discernible patter and I was shocked so asked her to fix it and she clearly had no idea what to do. I was horrified so paid my tab and left in tears. Thankfully, Ulta is close by. They helped me get the henna off my face and a very nice young lady at Ulta drew eyebrows on for me. I'm incredibly unhappy and my hair is a shit show!

    I do not write bad reviews lightly. However, very displeased with my haircut from Rita. I specifically went to her as she has been cutting hair for years, got good reviews on yelp, and specifically asked her not to take a lot off (so nothing majorly bad could happen as I had never been to her before and had a traumatic hair experience in the past). I asked for a trim with long soft blended layers. I just wanted a basic clean polished long hairstyle. The layers are not soft or blended together at all and not even on opposing sides. She took a large amount off in the front and made it look like a long uneven mullet. She took quite a bit off the back too on top layer but not the rest of hair. It looks choppy and stair-steppy. Zero transition. I should have got up and walked away when she started saying that my previous haircut wasnt right but i was in the chair and she had already started. My regular person does a beautiful job and was hoping Rita could just take the unhealthy bits off and get me through. Didnt want anything major. She didnt show me the sides or back with a mirror when it was done-- so I didnt notice until after I left as my hair was wet. I went to a friends house who was really alarmed too by the quality of the haircut (and she is not a picky person). I am now going to have to get it cut above my shoulder or to my chin to get it fixed and going to now spend extra money that I was trying to save. I am very disappointed that she didn't refer me to someone else if she doesnt do long hair. She really did a number on mine. I am in shock that someone who has been cutting hair for years couldn't do a basic trim. Do yourself a favor and avoid.

    I am so sad while writing this. To me mi hair is very important and for some reason I thought coming here was a good idea. my hair was long and healthy. I made an appt for a full balayage + highlights. The stylist started all the process and instead of using foil she used long cotton strips. I didn't like the idea and this was very uncomfortable to me. I just should have told her to stop but I decided to trust on her ( I mean even though I've got my hair done many times she should know was she's doing, she's a certified hairstylist and I am not) I asked her why She wasn't using foil instead and her response was that my hair was too long and she didn't have enough foil. And honestly I don't think this is a valid reason since I'm not getting this for free. I would have preferred for she to told me, hey at the moment we cannot do it because or this reason but she preferred to proceed instead. So she did the balayage, then washed my hair and dried we no heat protection or any hair treatment and she burn my hair, and then after that started to do the highlights. I wasn't facing any mirror because she preferred to work like that and I wasn't able to see the result until the end. I received a hair treatment but I wasn't okaplex (which I paid for) I told her I wanted a trim and she cut around 4 inches of hair ( after she burned a huge part of it) the highlights are tick and the color is not what I wanted at all. Even the haircut is not even at all. I don't understand what she did this and why she did it if she is not able to do this kind of hair styles. I pad $240 for this, it was my birthday present and I am not happy at all with the results. She told me to come back for her to "fix it" but I don't know if I this is a good idea after she doesn't even know how to do a haircut. I don't understand why a service is offered and people that doesn't have the knowledge nor the skill to perform this is doing it. This is very frustrating.

I enjoy the banter between the employees, the environment is really cute and welcoming, no one seems arrogant, but pretty laid back, however, im a fairly shy and anxious person, my stylist is always very chatty which is great because it helps relax me a bit, my stylist is always very sweet, and I truly believe they are a great stylist, just maybe not the stylist for me. Each time I have gone, my hair cut had been completely different than what was requested. I prefer an angled bob, but decided to try something different and go shorter due to some serious breakage and damage to my hair. But what I got vs what I requested and showed are to VASTLY different things, to put it mildly, I have a men's haircut, which is TOTALLY different from what I asked for and the pictures I submitted prior to my appointment and the consultation I had prior to my hair being cut. I paid, and tipped and walked out. this is possibly one of the worst haircuts I have ever had. my stylist compared it to a pixie cut, however, that is very clearly NOT what they gave me, and not even what I asked for / or showed them. I would suggest that if youre planning to go to this salon, be VERY VOCAL about what you want. maybe i should have spoken up, but I didn't realize how awful it was until my hair was dried. My hair is starting to grow out now, but it will be several months before I achieve the style I originally requested. I'm horribly embarrassed. It sucks, because I do really like the salon itself, but after this, I wont be coming back.

This review is in reference to her shockingly poor customer service, not the salon itself or any of the other stylists. Due to COVID-19, appointments could no longer be scheduled using the app, clients were required to e-mail stylists in order to schedule, completely understandable. On August 12, 2020, I had an appointment scheduled for 11:00 am, upon arrival at the salon, there was a notice posted on the door that Shy had a personal emergency and would have to reschedule. I live about 30 minutes away from the salon, and although disappointed that I wouldn't be getting my hair styled that day as expected, I was more concerned that my stylist was ok and in good health. I emailed Shy before driving back home, I said I hoped that everything was ok and to please let me know when I could reschedule. A few days pass, it's now Saturday, August 15, and I haven't received an e-mail response, so I decided to call her other location, Fells Point, because I'm not sure if Shy was still experiencing an emergency and I didn't want to be a bother. I was able to get an appointment with another stylist at the Fells Point location the very next day, perfect! It's Sunday, my service appointment went well, to my surprise Shy called the stylist who serviced me and told her to give me a 40% discount, it wasn't unexpected, but I appreciated her doing that. Later Sunday evening, Shy emailed me and apologized for the cancellation, again appreciated the personalized customer service. We emailed back and forth about my current style and discussed ideas about what I wanted to do next. During the conversation, Shy informed me that she'll be back to work fully starting the first week of September and that online booking would be back up as well. Fast forward to August 21, I happened to be browsing the app and noticed that a few September dates had opened up - one of those dates being the 9th, so I thought maybe she opened her book early, but I wasn't sure so I decided to email her for clarity - I desperately needed an appointment for September 4th as I have an event to attend on the 5th, so I emailed her to see if she had any availability on that day, as since the beginning of the pandemic, this has been our primary source of communication. Her auto-reply says to give her 24 hours for a response, again me not wanting to be a bother, I wanted to give her ample time to respond. On the morning of August 25, I decided to call the Federal Hill location, because I really need to secure an appointment for my upcoming event. A woman answers the phone and I'm greeted with "Shy Watters Hair Studio," I asked "hey, is this Shy," she responds "yes, may I ask who's calling" and in a jokingly manner, I responded "hey, this is Nickole don't mean to stalk you," and then the line immediately disconnects. I'm thinking it must be a mistake, Shy wouldn't hang up on me, what would be the reason? I'm just calling to get clarity on her availability. I called back 45 minutes later just to be sure, and received no answer. And to date, she has not replied to my email from August 21. I'm writing this review as a buyer beware, yes, the salon is great, Shy does do great work, that is not up for debate. However, the way that she handled the situation was poorly done and in bad taste. I have never experienced such terrible customer service. Unfortunately, I will no longer be able to support her salon or brand. Hanging up on customers (unwarranted, might I add) is unacceptable and unprofessional. Treat your clients with more respect.

My first salon experiences in this area incorporated lukewarm hair washing water and no head massage. I couldn't do it anymore. Soiree knocks the hair washing service out of the park. They have their own crew completely responsible for washing hair, massaging scalps and providing hot towel treatments. My daughter likes it so much that one time I was having my hair taken care of, she just asked if she could have hers washed. They fit her in right in. You best believe there is no lukewarm water here. My haircuts themselves are also top notch. Dani is really good at her job. Not only with the actual cutting and attention to detail with my hair but also with the conversation. I am always sad when the haircut is over. It all goes too quickly. Scheduling and rescheduling appointments is super easy. They send text reminders so that I am never surprised when it pops up on my calendar. I look forward to my visits to Soiree. I know my family feels the same way.

The salon I went to was huge and lots of assistants had their hands on my head/applying chemicals etc. at this salon it is 2 sisters and they are METICULOUS. These girls understand the chemistry of hair color and the biology of good hair. Not to mention very artistic with color application. My last dye job was so bad the color was running in the bowl. These girls undid the damage so beautifully. Went layer by layer and adjusted the color as necessary. Got rid of the orange and put in a nice auburn. I'm not sure how to add before and after photos but they have them. These sisters know what they are doing and they have earned my business for life. PS Nina showed me how uneven my previous cut was, which I had not noticed before. Because the old stylist had flipped the ends when blow drying it, I could not really see the layers. Nina however, with a few snips gave me an incredible haircut. Small change just evened out one layer, which had just been cut at the old salon. but the whole head of hair lay much much better afterwards. Watching them work was impressive.
