I'm natural and normally wear a wash and go look but I wanted something different. Ivonne is amazing. She was extremely focused on making sure I liked my color and cut. Next I got my top blow dried and flat ironed. I think what I enjoyed the most was her excitement to do my hair. In past with a new stylist at similar salons like Hair Cuttery I can sense the lack of enthusiasm with my hair type natural and curly, which is never a good feeling. My first time experience with Lily was amazing! She was very professional, kind, and made me feel very comfortable. My second experience was not, but it was with a different lady (Lily wasn't available). I arrived a few minutes early for my cut and blowout appointment, but my stylist was over 30 minutes late. I informed the front desk that I might need to reschedule since I had to leave in 40 minutes. They then asked another stylist if she could take me, and she agreed to work within the limited time. A few minutes later, the original stylist showed up and took over. She seemed visibly upset about the time constraint and, at the end of the appointment, told me not to rush her next time. If she was uncomfortable working within that timeframe, she could have said so. Or simply, been on time. While the cut itself was okay, the overall service was very poor. I got there at 2:00 for my reservation. 2:40 they start on me and after about three minutes, the person who was cutting my hair leaves. They start talking with another costumer for about 5-10 minutes and then come back to me. Then , they do about a quarter of my hair and then leave again for about seven minutes. Then they come back and when they are about 3/4 of the way done with my hair, they leave again to help another customer. They come back and finish my cut at about 3:10. I am a person with hair on the shorter side and my cuts usually take 5-10 minutes. read more

Review is for hair tech: Nasrin. So, I wanted to cut my hair. I didn't want to drive far and I wanted it done ASAP. I looked up close-by hair salons and what do I see... 3 different Hair Cutteries. Like everyone says, avoid this company at all cost because you never like the results. I've given Hair Cutteries a few chances before and someone were okay and some were horrible. I only wanted a simple cut, and told myself that I would just cut it shorter if I didn't like the way it looked. Still, I was nervous walking into a 1.5 star hair salon. Luckily, I had Nasrin. It is definitely low frills, but I was happy with my haircut by Julie. I felt like the wash was a bit spay-y and not necessarily a zen relaxing experience, but it did the job. I have long curly hair and haven't gotten it cut in many months, so it just really needed some length off. I left happy with the cut and my curls were bouncing. I took My daughter to get her hair done, I was sitting there and only wanted a hair cut for my daughter. I was there the whole time and walked in and out near the end. She gave my daughter a deluxe blowout without my authorization and my daughter sat there the whole time on her phone and Almaz the hair dresser never came and approached me to inquire about this addtional cost. I didn't get my hair cut here because they charge you more for the length of your hair even if you are just getting it chopped. No, I was not getting my long hair styled. I wanted it chopped and then styled. This annoyed me. I asked whether they would charge me more if I just went home chopped it and came back for stylin. They said if I had shorter hair and wanted it styled they'd charge me the $12 which was the price at the time. How difficult is it to cut straight across and then style the short hair? I had straight and thin hair, but I wanted it to be chopped to neck length. I'm glad I didn't get it done here because most of the patrons and stylist looked like my mom and her friends. I opted to go to Congressional Plaza's Hair Cuttery. There was no additional charge for chopping longer hair and styling the shortened hair. read more

Even though this is my favorite Hair Cuttery, I was highly annoyed by the lack of professionalism I experienced today. Bebe and Caroline are very talented and knowledgable about how to style and maintain healthy hair! However today I am disappointed in the "juggling of customers". I liked Hair Cuttery in that it wasn't like most black salons where they make you wait for hours... I agreed to a deep conditioning and was under the dryer for almost an hour. I now have been waiting 45+ minutes for Caroline to finish with her other customers... Like I said, I hate "sharing my time" with other customers... This blow dry straight, trim, and style better be THE BEST EVER after waiting now for almost an hour... I will most likely only come back here to see Bebe because she has never worked on multiple customers at the same time as she's doing my hair! I'm literally so tired of spending $60 for a "budget" haircut at Bubbles in the DC area. My favorite stylist has become one of their front chairs and I'm walking out if there with $75 dropped. I might ats well spend a little more and go to an upscale salon, you know? So, I've been desperate to find another stylist that can cut by hair just as well, but back in the $30 range I think I found her! Julie at the Hair Cuttery/Aspen Hill!. Shes an ARTIST and trained in traditional Korean "dry-cutting" which is the technique that makes American stylists differentiate themselves and jump up their price. It's just standard for Korean hair. Who knew??? :) I walked away so pleased with my cut and style from Julie (and the price @ $28 - she's a level 2 stylist). An overall 2-star rating for this place is a bit dramatic. It get it though, it's hard to know which stylist has which skills since none of them are on social media solo. Nevertheless, I think you can get a good cut there by booking online and choosing a level 2 stylist! read more

My hair stylist is Ms. Enanu. She recently transferred to the Aspen Hill Hair Cuttery and she is absolutely wonderful! Ms. Enanu completed a touch up and rinse on my hair and it looks great! Due to the Covid-19 restrictions, she took all of the necessary precautions to protect herself and me, including wearing a mask, during the whole salon visit. Okay, I went here the day before my school's yearbook pictures. I'm one of those people that gets all fixed up for a school picture. One of the places I originally wanted to go to was already closed, so I was in desperate need of a hair salon to straighten my hair. I had, had previous experiences with Hair Cuttery: some good, some bad. I used to go to this one vietnamese dude who cut my hair perfectly. Then there were the times when I would go to another hair cuttery and my hair would turn out... blah. Moving on, I decided to give Hair Cuttery another chance because of drastic times. I went in and opted for shampoo, conditioning, and straightening. Everything seemed to be going fine, until the lady took out her flat iron. I swear, she could not straighten hair. She got frustrated with my hair and started going over the same strand like 5-7 times. My hair was fried by the end of it. She actually stopped halfway and told me she couldn't do it. So, she wet my hair down and I left without paying; My hair was so ruined I actually started crying once I left. Good thing I went to an asian place up the street who beautified my hair. A little while ago I came here to get my hair dyed and trimmed, I ended up having to wait about an hour before anyone was available and the woman who did my hair clearly didn't know what she was doing. I had asked for her to bleach, dye, and trim my hair, after she had bleached, she then decides to tell me that they don't have the color I wanted. She then decides to dye my hair a color different than what I wanted, and one that I had specifically told her not to dye my hair. After she dyed my hair, I asked for her to trim it. She didn't. I told her to only trim the ends of my hair, but instead she cut off 2 inches. I honestly believe that this Hair Cuttery needs to hire stylists with more expertise and professionalism than the ones that they do. read more

Went for a hair cut at this place today, since I was in the area. Just want to say that I have never been a favor of Hair Cuttery as a whole company, I've come across some good ones and some bad ones. Now, I don't know about you but when you are a new customer at any kind of place that styles hair (for both sex), one of the first question should be asked before the hair gets touch should be "How would you like it cut?" and/or "What would you like to have done today?". In my mind, this is basic customer service. Now granted, I did tell them that I was here for a cut, but the next question I would expect is "same style or different" or something else. Not just grab a cutter of some type and start to cut. Then again, it just shows that you get what you pay for. I don't know what kind of training Hair Cuttery gives to their people (If any at all), but what ever it is, it is not good enough. read more

I love going to Hair Cuttery and getting my ends clipped. I have been to a lot of Hair Cuttery locations, but this was my first time at the Hair Cuttery in Aspen Hill shopping center. I was extremely excited to go to Hair Cuttery because I had an interview within a few hours. I just wanted a basic shampoo, blow dry and trim. I never set appointments so I expect to wait whenever I go. I arrived to Hair Cuttery and walked in. Usually whenever you walk into a salon or spa, someone looks up from what they are doing to greet you. No one and I mean no one greeted me! I sat down and and looked over the menu to see if someone would say something to me, still not a word! I walked out and as I was walking out another lady walks in and all of a sudden the choir starts singing! Maybe I was invisible today, I do not know but I do that I will not be back at this place ever again. I am so appalled by the lack of professionalism, it's very ridiculous! The simplest of all haircuts is a buzzcut, right? Not for this place. I have had this done so many times here and it is always not done correctly. They go over some places of my head multiple times, then others once leaving stray longer hairs left and right. They even having trouble telling the size difference between 1 clippers and 2 despite being color coded. Thank god I have clippers at home to fix their mistakes that I pay for. I go to a lot of hair cuttery and they almost always mess one thing up and it's fine. But this woman I of t even know her name because she didn't tell me messed up my hair! I came in with my past my waist and I said cut my hair to my waist and when she was done it was above my stomach! I also said I want it one length and when I put my hair in front it is all choppy! Then I said I wanted bangs to my nose so that I can lay them flat for a curtain effect and she cut them eye length! Also I said wispy! And she cut it fully blunt! She styled my bangs pushed back and made the bangs look like I have a lot of freaking volume! I hate it! It's was awful! She has like shortish blonde hair and I think she's Hispanic. I will never go to this location again! She sucked at cutting my hair. And I also said that I wanted my bangs to frame my face and it doesn't it's too freaking blunt!
