When I saw Yen's picture here on Yelp I was so relieved! I already knew that I like how she cuts my hair and now I get her great service without the negativity at the last salon. Yen is amazing! She listens to what you want and is very skilled. Her upbeat personality and positivity make you feel like you've known her forever. I had been looking for a new hair stylist for the last year after my last my hairstylist overtreated my hair and landed up damaging it. I found Hair District 36 next to Kohls in Monrovia and decided to give it a try as my twin 13 yo decided they were too old to have their daddy cut their hair. We couldn't be happier with their new cuts. $35 for all women's, kids and men haircuts is very reasonable. Easy to book online. Easy parking. Very clean salon. Yen is a stylist that listens, friendly and assured me that she can help me repair my hair and to just give it time. She gave it the cut it needed today. Will be back in a few months to color. It brought tears to my eyes when one of my girls commented.."I haven't felt this pretty in.years". So..if anyone is looking for a hair stylist, look no further. My daughter got her first professional haircut with Yen a month ago, and today, it still looks amazing. We brought pictures of what my daughter liked, and Yen was very honest with us about which styles would require more work in the morning (long bangs), and we went with her suggestions, something easy to maintain that wouldn't require my daughter to get up any earlier than she does. She also gave us helpful tips on how to maintain my daughter's hair, which products she recommended, etc. Impressed with her expertise, I asked for advice on my own hair, since I wasn't happy with my last haircut. She looked at it, and explained very clearly why the cut wasn't flattering, and based on my facial shape and features, told me how it should be cut when my hair grows out a bit. I'm so glad I found this new salon! It's located inside Sola Salon, space #36 in the shopping center with Kohl's. Yen is very talented and such a sweetheart. I explained I wanted to do some grey coverage for an upcoming trip, she took her time explaining the options and we went with ashy blonde highlights. The color is beautiful, shines like gold strands in my hair. She also trimmed my hair and gave it great shape. The products she uses are very good, no burn smell or dryness in my hair at all. My daughter is very particular about who cuts her hair. She has waist-length hair that takes a long time to grow and only gets a trim maybe once every six months. I have tried different stylists over the years, but my daughter never liked any of them. So I decided to book an appointment with Yen this time. When I had to reschedule the hair appointment, I found the online booking easy. I can see Yen's availability for the entire month so we could come in when it was convenient for us. No hassle with texting or calling and waiting for a response. Yen's salon is located in a large shopping complex with ample parking. The salon is tucked inside of Sola Salon, but it's quite easy to find. The salon is nicely lit and clean. I have been to several salons where there isn't any place to sit while I'm waiting for my kids to get their haircut. The fact that Yen has a seating bench tells me that she is thoughtful and detailed with how she provides service. Yen was very friendly and made my daughter feel comfortable. She explained what she was going to do and patiently answered all of my daughter's questions. They talked about keeping the look of the length, but cleaning up the split ends and agreed on how much to cut. I appreciate the care Yen took and her professionalism in making sure my daughter felt at ease before, during, and after the haircut. My daughter loved her haircut so much that she asked me to take some photos so she could share them with her friends. My daughter has never asked me to do that before! I am really glad we found Yen.
