Maggie is really great. She has washed my 80yo mom's hair on a weekly basis for a few months now. She does the same for another client who is 100 years-old. Although she has lived in the US since the 60s and speaks perfect English, my mom feels more comfortable with Mandarin. So since Maggie is fluent in Mandarin, this is an important benefit for us. Note that this is a by appointment only business. I recommend you book a week in advance. When we miss a day, we basically have to wait another week. read more

One particular hairdresser poaches customers and offers discounts if you pay directly to have your hair done in her home * an apartment complex*. Sitting in a hair salon from 4pm-12am was not a good time for me. It took Dawn 8 HOURS to barley even do 10 strips in my hair... i asked for a full head of blonde... then she had the audacity to charge me 390$ for her service for just that day. I was looking at my hair, half of it was brown have of it was blonde and the front were platinum, AND THE ENTIRE UNDERNEATH IS NOT EVEN TOUCHED! So obviously i was like i will pay you $235 now and the rest after my hair is completely done. she said okay and we planned to schedule another appointment for her to finish what i had payed for originally because she only did not even $145 worth of work! it was supposed to be 370$ for all 3 appointments full head of blonde. 230$ for two appointments. tell me why she refused to do the 2nd appointment before i payed her 390$. she canceled our appointment 30 minutes before hand. and then when i showed up asking for a refund, she cursed me out, and a man fully attacked me and continued to attack me when i was just trying to get my shoe. he then locked my friend into the store and they wouldn't let her leave. he then snuck out the back and THEY TOLD HER SHE HAD TO GO OUT THE BACK! I've never had to write a review before but this place is one of the worst salons I've dealt with. Do not get your hair done here. The owner, Dawn is a rude and unprofessional businesswoman. My friend got her hair done here and expected an all over blonde over the course multiple appointments. The first appointment was scheduled for 4pm and she ended up having to be there till 12am and only ended up receiving 10 strips of blonde. She scheduled another appointment for 2pm and Dawn ended up canceling on her. We showed up and requested a refund because my friend was very unhappy with her hair. Dawn proceeded to swear at my friend and told us to get out. Another employee intervened and began to grab my friend to throw her out of the salon. We ended up calling the police. This is one of the most awful and traumatic experiences I've ever had with a salon. This salon will take advantage of you and overcharge you for a poor service. I would never recommend this place to anyone, I wish I could leave 0 stars and never have to experience something like that again. read more

I have been going to Dawn to get my haircut or the last five years. Her previous studio was located in Mira Mesa, but I must say, the new location is amazing. It is very spacious, modern, tasteful. The people that I have met who also work in the salon are very nice and polite. My experience with Dawn has been of great one. She follows my instructions to what I want with my hair, but also letting me know what will and will not work with my type of hair. I would not recommend going to this place. I usually never do reviews unless I had an awful experience and this one was probably top 3. I got a call at 6:16 on January 13th from don to schedule a hair appointment for 2pm on the 14th. I got to the salon around 1:50 and was greeted by no one. I sat there for 40 min before I got up and stood for about 5 minutes before being asked what I was there for. I told them it was for my appointment at 2pm with don. She apparently double booked her appointment which is fine, she told me she would seat me right after she got the person who she got mixed up with after. An hour and 15 minutes goes by and her 3pm person comes in. she explained the mix up and the lady had no problem coming in later so don could seat me. INSTEAD, don passes me to another person and seats her 3pm. The lady did a good job on my hair except after I had brought up everything that happened and asked to be comped for the inconvenience of waiting for so long, not being seen by the original person even though she could've gotten me. she told me I couldn't but they could POSSIBLY do a complementary condition my next visit. Don was not willing to help the lady that did my hair or me out and the lady who did my hair had an incredible amount of attitude with me after because I asked for a compensation for the entire ordeal. Don wasn't wanting to even help with the price to do the comp since it was her mistake in the first place. The whole place just makes it seem like they're not there for you it's just about money. They don't care if you wait and they don't care about their customers or the way they treat each other in the workplace. I have never been lucky in the stylist department, there's always been something off about how they cut or style BUT I finally have one in Dawn! I feel so truly blessed to have found her! From our very first appointment, I just had a solid impression that she treats each customer like a V.I.P. Not only does she KNOW everything there is to know about hair- how to cut, style, color and highlight, but she teaches as she does it! She took me in as a walk in for a haircut and has since changed my life! Not kidding- I went from a brunette who wanted to go blonde but didn't think I'd ever be able to pull it off, to full on Blonde! People have even said they thought it was my natural hair color- she blended it so amazingly well. I'm in love with my blonde hair! And I love dawn for showing me the way!
