I often wake up and decide I randomly want to get a haircut ‍ my hair grows super fast so I typically don't care how it gets cut, or maybe that's been the case because I haven't found a good hairdresser I wanted to stick with. I think that changed today! I read lots of really good reviews about this place so I stopped in without an appointment after the gym. The place was completely packed, but I only had to wait about 5 min and they got me seated right away. I've read good things about every person here, so I didn't mind who I'd be with. Spring did such an incredible job!!! As soon as I told her that I just wanted my hair to not look so boring or flat, but didn't have anything in particular to guide her other than that, she knew exactly what to do and went to work. She snipped and chopped effortlessly and I feel great :) I wish I had taken a before picture but the moment I stepped out, I snapped a selfie (okay, it just clicked with me! Hahah! Walked in without an appointment, was taken care pretty much right away. I liked that I was asked if I wanted any hair washed before getting started, but opted out since I showered before coming in. I appreciate that because my hair is thin and fine and too much shampooing isn't good for it. I was asked by Lily (I think that was her name) how much length I wanted trimmed off. She also showed me the amount too before continuing on, which is nice because although I have thin and fine hair I still want my length! Her hands were light. My hair feels nice. It was styled a bit before I walked out. My husband has been coming here as well for his cuts but he goes to Spring. I think his cuts look good too! My esthetician recommended Selfie Salon, and I'm so glad she did! I went to see Roxy because I was looking for someone who could do blonde highlights at a lower cost. Where I was going in Encinitas was charging $450 for a cut and color! Roxy is a third of that and worth every penny. Every appointment with her is great. She's funny, smart, and so much fun to talk to. Like any great stylist, she doubles as a therapist. I've been loyal to Roxy and Selfie Salon ever since, even though it's a 30-minute drive from Encinitas. It's nice to get out of the bubble, and the results are always worth it. Got my hair done by Roxy for the first time today and I am in love with my hair! Roxy was so sweet and I truly enjoyed having conversations with her. I could tell from the moment I met her that she is a kind person and knows what she's doing. She is quick, attentive and very efficient. Will definitely be coming back to her! FYI she only takes appointments (no walk-ins) and is best reached by texting her (619-818-8869). She works 5 days a week and is off Thursdays & Sundays. Brian typically cuts my hair but occasionally he isn't available and so I've also had great haircuts from other stylists. It's a very affordable, clean, and overall personable salon and I totally recommend it. read more

You get what you pay for. I've tried Brian twice and I will most likely go back again. Maybe I'll try others. Brian cuts hair. Not much chitty chat. He also doesn't do the whole trying to upsell by suggesting to color my hair. I appreciate that. One thing though is, I wish he'd give more ideas on how to style the hair or style it more than just straighten it. He doesn't wash my hair for the cut, but I shower and wash my hair before going to him so, there's no need on my end. When I'm with him, I'm in and out in 30 minutes and I very much prefer that. No extra frills. Just plain, basic, affordable haircut. read more

I had my hair cut by Thao today, and I love how it turned out. She was attentive and really listened and talked to me about the style I wanted before cutting my hair. Most salons I've been to before just take a look at a picture I show them and start cutting right away, but Thao took her time and helped me understand what cut was best for my face shape. She was very kind, sweet, and very fun to talk to! I will most definitely be coming to her for all my future haircuts :) The salon itself is nice and clean. I called the shop a day before I took my wife to the Salon and spoke to Brian over the phone. I let him know my wife's situation and what she would like to do with her hair. He gave me an appointment time for the next day. We got there at 1pm and they washed my wifes hair and salvaged it as it was pretty damaged. Afterwards, they proceeded to give the Bob cut that my wife instructed them to. The process took less than an hour and my wife left happy with her haircut. I was happy too as it looked great, it was quick and also not as expensive as some other salons. I will definitely comeback to this location for any other needs! read more

My best friend recommended Nina to me and I LOVE her already from my first visit! She did great on my cut and dye; I received loads of compliments!! Her personality is so awesome, we had great talks throughout my whole visit. The shop itself is clean and pretty busy. It was affordable in my opinion. Spring cuts my hair. I have been going to her for ten years now. She understands my hair and what I like. She has helped me cut my hair to be donated twice and leaves me with a great hair style. I have a lot of hair/thick and as it grows out I am always amazed at how nice my hair styles into place. You can see when it's a good haircut. This is my first time writing a review, only because I felt the need to. My wife made an appointment for my daughter's haircut last Monday with a guy named Brian. He had to be the most unpleasant barber I've ever met. I also later learned that he is actually the owner of Selfie Salon. He didn't even say hello or any type of salutation when we first met him, other than acknowledging he was Brian. He would only answer questions with a yes or no. During the haircut, he didn't say a single word to my daughter such as asking her if the haircut was going okay or if there was anything she liked or didn't like so far, even when he was done with the haircut. The price I paid for my daughter's haircut included a hair-wash, which I didn't know about, and he didn't even wash or shampoo her hair after the haircut. At the end of the haircut, I tipped him $10, which I shouldn't have, and he finally said more than one word; he said, "Thank you." He closed the register drawer, turned around, and walked to the back of the salon. I would NEVER take my daughter back there, or recommend anyone to go there. If this Brian guy really is the owner, he really needs to take a lesson on customer service. read more

This salon has the BEST hairstylists! One particular hairstylist I go to is Roxy (phone # (619) 818-8869). Roxy has been my hairstylist for over 10 years). She colors and cuts my hair to precision. She listens to all your preferences; likes & otherwise, executes them to action. She is also a great family person, a loving Mom to both humans and dogs (she has 3 dogs, haha). Please try her skills.. I bet you'll be very happy with the results!!! BTW, there are other hairstylists you could request. Brian, the owner of the salon is also great, based on customers' feedback in the times I have been there. Best of all during Covid, they practice social distancing, the doors are always kept open for better ventilation, they all wear masks, and the spaces are always kept clean and disinfected. Do not hesitate to come here. read more

LOVE Roxy at Selfie Salon. She has done my hair twice now (balayage and trim) , my daughters hair (balayage and trim) and regularly cuts my son's hair. She is a true gem...super nice human and also does a great job on hair. She is excellent with blond. And did I mention her prices are so so so reasonable....like way way way less than most salons and you're still getting great service and beautiful hair. As long as I live here she is my gal...and I've been looking for several years and haven't found a fit until her. Lilly is amazing. I had a balayage done by her 2 years ago and it was finally time for another. I thought about trying someone else seeing I knew the person but was totally let down. I was there when she called to make the appointment, she tried to book 11:30 they said they can do 11:45 we said great! End of call and everything was set. I show up at 11:40 and say I'm checking in for my 11:45 spot. They then inform me it was at 11 and I missed it. Which to my surprise I told her I'm positive it was 11:45 she said she would look what happened. She said after looking my friend booked an "add on" to my blow out didn't tell me what that add on was either. Which again I was there when my friend made the app and she never added anything but just booked her last blow out. She said the add on made the time look like it was 11:45 but it was 11 and I missed it. I then asked if they had anything else she said no it's Super Bowl Sunday. She said well I can maybe do 3pm (I live in oceanside so I drove 35 mins for this app and had to find childcare as well) so I couldn't do 3pm. I asked if I didn't get anything was my friend still charged? She said yes. Which is insane since clearly it was their mistake since I was there when my friend booked the app. No add on service was asking for, clearly whoever booked it when we called messed up. Also they never called anyone to inform us we missed and app or anything after 11? My friend then called and asked to talk and the girl at the front was nice at first but then started to make faces when my friend was talking to her on the phone which I thought was rude since I can clearly see her doing that. Again kept blaming us saying my appt was at 11 okay if you booked that, then that was your bad not ours and now we're charged for something we didn't receive? I understand accidents Happen but to blame us and basically say nothing you can do is pretty upsetting. I think I'm just most upset since I found child care, left my two toddlers, drove 35 mins and basically was told too bad. Atleast I got a quiet car ride lol

Mike was very transparent about the pricing. My hair is long, course, and thick so I understood that more hair perm solution was needed. I could tell Mike was very detailed and skilled while working on my hair. I explained to him that I had some localized dryness in the hair near the back of my head and he addressed the situation for me without additional charge. My hair perm and cut turned out excellent and I will be booking with him again! I recommend bringing in a photo to show them. Perhaps have Google Translate ready if you are worried about the language barrier. Book online since you can see the prices, but depending on your consult with the hairstylist it might be adjusted a little since everyone's hair is different.

With that being said, it's been almost two years since I've had my hair trimmed. I've been eyeing this business for some time (like the whole time I haven't had my hair cut). I decided to finally give it a shot because the last time no new clients were being accepted this time around, it was, though. I reached out through Yelp and received a text very quickly from Ashley. We had such an amazing first chat or consultation. I sent her pictures of my hair so she could see the length and style. I never really know whether to say my hair is wavy or curly. She recommended a curl creme via text. I went and purchased yesterday, so we will see how that goes. But when I finally got to meet her, AMAZING . I asked if I could bring a friend who's like a sister to me and she agreed. Ashley is such an amazingg soul, so easy to talk too..and man her scalp massage is OUT OF THIS WORLD. I was sooo relaxed after that she has such amazing hands. I waited til after my blowout to leave a review. I just love it. The curls I have are more defined, and you can just tell she loves what she does. I'll be referring anyone and everyone who I hear needs a haircut.

She went out of her way to accommodate us, which I really appreciated, and she seems just really kind-hearted, in general. My daughter described a general look that she wanted to achieve, and Zina created the best version of my daughter's vision. My daughter was overwhelmed with how many compliments she got on her hair. I literally couldn't stop staring at her hair. It has been two months and just like Zina predicted, the bold colors my daughter initially chose have faded into a really nice color that still very much compliments my daughter's color palette. I was a little worried when my daughter said she wanted parts of her hair lightened, because I know that can be damaging, and while Zina achieved a very light color, there still has been no sign of damage whatsoever because she used gentle products. She even gave my daughter styling recommendations for complementing her new hair color with specific makeup colors. My hair is also wonderful, and I love it. Zina truly knows what she's doing

I am very very sad, she has completely ruined my hair. Goodbye long hair. Goodbye healthy hair. Now all I can do is warn others and try to nurse my hair back to life over the next year +.
