My first time here and I'm really happy. I had frizzy shoulder length hair and I wanted to go real short. My appointment was with Maral and she did a very nice job of hearing me out. She ensured time and again that I should be happy with the cut finally, and did the cut carefully all the time asking if I was sure I wanted that short. Talar is awesome !!! I had to completely revamp my hair from ombré to full highlights lowlights and she did amazing job! The results are so good I keep getting compliments! She's very nice and tries to work with your request as best as possible and tells you what can realistically be done. It's a nice quiet salon too so pretty relaxed. She has a good eye for color and is very good at mixed that stuff up so you get the closest result to what you imagined. I had some weird color in my hair and she was able to remove it and make it all even and very nice highlight lowlight balance. Got rid of he copper and made it brighter ashy blonde. Talar is a wonderful colorist and person. She is very flexible when you get in a pinch. She is such a hard worker and does a great job and does it really efficiently. She accused me of slander after my review. Yes, I was there. I wrote my review and didn't publish it until a few months later. Is that a crime? Does that mean my critique is inaccurate? No. Want to sue me for a bad review? Good luck with that! Talar suggested I take bamboo vitamins to make my hair and eyelashes grow, which were according to her, too short. So yes, I was there. I was at the salon before the holidays and have the receipt to prove it. Way to handle a review that's not glowing, by making false accusations. At least I know how to speak and write English. And how could Talar be a professional hairstylist for 15 years when she's in her 20s? I guess she started as an adolescent/teen. And I'm the one lying? Sure. I am not the only one who said the prices were too high. This isn't a top salon, it's a rented room in a multi-use "salon." Was a little apprehensive because my regular girl is someone who I had been going to for over five years. Talar is such a beauty, inside & out. I went to Talar with dark, frizzy, coarse, poorly "highlighted" hair that I went twice to a fancy salon on Oak Street to get, and I came out with beautiful, soft blonde hair that my friends couldn't believe WASN'T weave. I had to let them pull on it so they believed that it was attached to my head! She is an absolutely brilliant colorist, and has given me the best two haircuts of my life. She is super conscientious and puts in extra work to make sure you come out looking awesome. When we did my balayage, we did the whole process, and once it was done, she HERSELF wanted more blonde and decided to take the time out of HER day to dry it and do the process all over again. She was totally right - I loved it at first, but when she added those few pieces, it came out absolutely beautiful, I seriously had tears in my eyes! Nothing except great things to say here. At this place you will receive a very unique feelings as it is a small place with one chair and one sink and a bunch of good hair products. I'm so sad. I wanted to convince my hair looked better but it really didn't. The stylist ignored my requests of wanting shorter layers, keeping most of the length-- hell, all of this almost felt unmentionable. Let alone my previous ideas of wanting an undercut. She had her own ideas with my hair that were much more conservative. Low and behold I ended up with a very boring hair cut that was shorter than I ever wanted. Not only that, but the stylist said she knew how to handle curly hair. So why on earth was my hair frizzier when I left than when I came in? This young lady, whom is approaching 30 going on a grace of 50, went to night and summer cosmetology classes so when she graduated high school she could start her own business. Walk in another's shoes before you cast judgement. The English comment is inappropriate, and obviously you have some serious issues a doctor may or may not be able to assist you with. Shame, shame, shame. As for the Locks of Love, take into consideration.... There's no tax donation for her time or product she buys. So yes, if there is more than a simple cut, you want a shampoo and a style for free because of the donation. I want to know, are you doing this for the right reasons, because you truly are giving, or because you want something for free? Bring cash at least for a tip. It's true, unless you figure in the tip when she gives you the total, she has to run your card again. Every time she runs your card she is charged for your convenience. I felt kind of meh about hair fiction. It's inside the Phenix salon suites and was confusing on how to get inside. The door was locked for my appointment at 11. I had Maral, and she was on time. The suite was very small, which is fine. I hadn't had a haircut in over a year and needed a lot cut off. I went from mid back to a long front Bob. While my haircut turned out nice, I'm surprised at how long it took. An hour and 15 mins. While I appreciate that she took her time, I was ready to get out of there. My hair doesn't have any layers or anything complicated going on with it, so it was doubly surprising how long it took. She used some nice smelling products in my hair, but it was kind of gross that the product bottles had hair stuck all over them. I also wasn't told that it was cash only, so I had to run to the ATM to grab cash to pay for my service. I will say that scheduling was great and quick online. read more

I recently had my hair appointment with Maral. I got a haircut for only $35, which is such a great price for a great haircut. She really listened to my needs and what I wanted. Right when I walked into the salon she was very welcoming and wanted to get to know me. There were two things I noticed she did that other hairdressers NEVER do: 1. When I had questions about my hair, she even gave me a bunch of great tips for my hair that are actually doable (using olive oil, how to volumize my hair without heat, etc.) 2. When my haircut was finished, she took an extra 5-10 min looking closely at it lo make sure it was perfect and just the way I wanted it, even though she told me she was expecting another client after my appointment. I learned a lot from her and loved her warm smile and energy. I can tell that she is passionate about what she does (its hard to tell shes only been doing hair for 5 years because she is so good) and loves helping others. As a guy living in the suburbs, it is REALLY hard to find a hair cutting place that does fades, lining etc. Talar is the best! She is very accommodating and will schedule an appointment promptly. I only know her from the 3 times she has recently cut my hair and she is very kind, friendly, and talented. She is also a professional. I have passed her card out to all my friends and family because I love to support small business. She deserves any success. Haircut turned okay but the service is not so nice. They did not ask about whats on my mind about my hair cut and did not listen to whatever I was trying to say. Even before discussing the length, she cut some portion so short that whole haircut had to be done short. Blow drying was so hot that it hurt my scalp. I booked an appointment with Maral online about six weeks ahead of time. When I got to the suite for my appointment there was nobody in sight. I called the number listed on their website and talked to Talar. She explained that her mom must have missed her appointment notifications because she had been out of the country until the night before. Talar apologized profusely and came over right away to cut my hair. She did an EXCELLENT job. She gave suggestions, but was also a great listener and ultimately gave me the exact hair cut I had hoped for. I was so impressed.
