I was introduced to Latora by a very dear friend and each time I feel very grateful for crossing paths with Latora.I met her 9 years ago at a time when I had given up on my permed hair as it was damaged from another hair dresser I had been going to, with some areas of bald patches and uneven hair length, dry and lackluster. Through careful management, love and patience hair grew back evenly . Latora put me on kids relaxer for my perm( JUST FOR ME) and I made sure to listen and take all the advice given from her as a professional( perm,condition, trim, and color)She got to understand and feel my hair texture and put me on really mild hair products. I am new to this area, and I have been trying to find a Black hairstylist for a while. I was relieved when I found excellent Yelp reviews to a place close to me. The actual wash, press (hot comb -so my hair was straight) and trim was a positive experience. The aftermath of the heat damage my hair sustained is included below. The last wash/ press I had was over a year prior to this. I feel sad especially because I have only managed to get some length after several years of some health issues. I reached out to Latora via phone and text. I mentioned that I was concerned/disappointed but spoke to her politely. The response I received was dismissive at best. Something along the lines of - I cannot tell you why your hair turned out this way, have you tried washing it. I will take personal responsibility for choosing to straighten my hair, and not speaking up when I thought the heat was excessive. I honestly believed the smoking was from the products and not my actual hair. I did not get any kind of validation for my concerns or an offer to come in for the damage to be assessed. LaTora has done it again! She got me bobbin in the spring time. She never misses I feel like I'm back in the 90's when all I rocked was a bob. LaTora was quick, she finished earlier than expected. I came to Latora desperate! My hair has grown so much yet became unmanageable for me. I loved her reviews and am very happy I decided to book with her. On my hair journey, I have been process and heat free for 2.5 years. My hair grew so much! In the past I was having relaxer and keratin treatment done. I seriously considered doing a relaxer today, but I decided to give Latora keratin treatment a try. It did everything and more for my hair! It is not only tamed and manageable, but silky, straight, and soft. The one thing I love about Latora is that she is very detail oriented. My hair took about 5-6 hours and I never felt she skipped or hurried. Every last strand of hair received her attention. I also love that she is great with cuts and color. In the last 3 years I have tried everything from crochet to a perm (which broke my hair off) because I couldn't manage my super thick hair. I first came to Hair Majesty 6 months ago and La'Tora installed a lace front wig for me. The lace front looked amazing after the install, but La'Tora mentioned that next time I wanted to get my hair done I should try a keratin treatment with her. I was hesitant at first because I did not want to have to deal with my natural hair at all. But I trusted La'Tora so much after she installed my lace front so well that I decided to give the keratin treatment a try last week. And what INCREDIBLE RESULTS WE HAD!! This was my first time at this salon. I called Friday night to make an appointment for the next day for an emergency hairdo for my 8 year-old granddaughter, but LaTora was fully booked. However, she opened up her salon on Sunday just for my granddaughter who desperately needed braids. Not only she gave her the most beautiful braids, but she educated me on how to help my granddaughter maintain them and what products to use. Needless to say, LaTora has now a new client. AAAAAAMAZING! My daughter is going into middle and I was trying to find a simple but cute look my daughter could learn to maintain without my help. Her hair isn't straight but it's not like my hair with the tight corkscrew curls. It's very thick, wavy and edges are always frizzy and because of that she just kept in a pony tail slicked back. We could never find the right products for her hair either. It was either to heavy for her hair or didn't hold the frizz down enough. BUT Latora did amazing!! She strategically thinned my daughters hair, subtle layers, parted it to the side then showed her the right product to keep the frizz down when she wears it down. Someone told me that there was a shop in Concord that did "ethnic" hair. I didn't believe the lady but went to see for myself. I met LaTora in the shop about 6 or 7 years ago and she has been doing my hair ever since! The very first thing she said to me was that she would not leave me in the shampoo bowl while she did other customers' hair! That was a big win because it was also my pet peeve about previous beauticians. Over the years, what started out as the occasional relaxer or trim has because so much more. She turned me on to keratin treatments which has helped my hair to grow and thrive. My hair is much longer and healthier now that I have moved away from chemical-based relaxers. When I felt I needed something new and different, I decided it was time to do a weave. I sported a weave for a couple of years and when I took it down, I was surprised to see my own hair had grown longer as I still maintained the keratin treatment. Now, I'm into wigs--still no chemicals--and I'm loving the looks we're achieving together. LaTora is very knowledgeable and up-to-date on hair care and products and new trends.
