I cut my hair so rarely that my hair salons always end up closing. So back to searching I went, and Google helped me land here. It was a nice and affordable spot, with a wash and cut for only $26 ($23 for a haircut only). The wash includes a good head massage, just the way I like it. My hair looked great afterward, but I was admittedly annoyed because I'd asked my hairstylist to leave my "bangs" long enough to comfortably tuck behind my ears. She didn't take that into account, so while the left side was fine, it was a couple inches too short on the right. My hair kept falling into my face and was, for months, the very nuisance I was trying to avoid. I'll still return given the price and otherwise good quality, but I'll just have to be vigilant about spotting and constantly reiterating what I'm looking for. read more

I came here for a basic haircut recently. It was affordably priced and the stylist took his time but, I felt at times he had no idea what I was trying to communicate to him. However, most of the employees here were very friendly unlike other salons. The cost did include a wash which was surprising as other Asian salons charge extra for wash. At one salon, they told me their haircuts prices only include the cost of a dry cut. Thankfully, they washed my hair here and it was soothing experience. I showed the stylist how I wanted my hair and he did exactly what I wanted. I did notice that this hair salon is more bare bones because they didn't use a single product in my hair other than shampoo. I did see other clients getting hair products but, I am assuming they got a different service. I would definitely recommend this place if you want a basic haircut at an affordable price. read more

Hair straightening prices have drastically increased. It was $120, $150 in 2021... current price to date is $170 and $200, almost 50% increase. Their storefront window price does not reflect current service charge. Result is fairly the same. I've been regular customer for 18 years. The shampoo lady was more on the rough side today, basically shoved my head up and down during shampooing. For the price that they're charging now, I may start looking for another hair salon. Their only selling point to me was affordable hair treatment but now it's comparable to their competitors. read more

Hair Station provided me with superior service, all of their hair stylists have over 10 years of experiences and have always been pleased with my long hair cut. Their pricing is very reasonable and the environment has always kept clean and neat. I highly recommend yelper to make an appointment for their haircut, so you don't have to wait because it's got nice flow of people. Not only they provided me with excellent service and great haircut. My Godsister recommended it here. It definitely does not disappoint. I got my root touch up and a cut all for $60.00. Like for real though. Anna cut my hair, which I love. She knows what she's doing. An older woman with red short hair and glasses did my root touch up. They were both super nice. They even gave me the WiFi to use. Super nice. I love the shampoo they used. It was just all a great experience. Only thing is they made my hair a bit darker, but I'm fine with it. Next time I'll be back I'll be more blonder. Def will be back. read more

Now that I've had some time to settle into my newly relaxed hair, I'm a little less than pleased that I paid over $100 and the process did not do what it's supposed to do. (I've had Japanese straightening done before at Hayato and Jun's on Mott St. with great results). I almost gave it three stars, and if I REALLY cared about my hair, it would be three stars. That said, I went to Hair Station with the attitude of "What ever happens, happens." As long as I didn't get my hair colored, chemically straightened or curled, or shaved, I'd be just fine with it. So I went on in and said I needed a hair-cut. I was brought to the shampooing station for a lovely scrub-down (don't you love those forceful head massages while shampooing?) and then a quickie shoulder rub when I sat up. My shampoo-masseuse escorted me to my stylist, I think his name is Sing, but I'm not sure. In fact, I couldn't really understand anything he said. We used improvisational sign-language. That's why I say it could easily be three stars for anyone who doesn't speak Chinese. I mean, really, ANYthing can happen. I said three words, "shorter, layers, yes." From that, he followed what I said. I got (a lot) shorter and (a lot) of layers. I suppose that I could have stopped him at any time had I cared that a ponytail was no longer possible. But I already shared my attitude about all that. My one regret is that when he asked if I wanted it blown straight (he looked like he REALLY wanted to blow it straight), I said sure. My hair doesn't do straight. I don't like the look on me, and I don't like the weird way it moves when it's blown out like that. I mean, my hair is blown dry once or twice a year...in other words: whenever I get it cut. It just didn't work out. And all the layers looked all choppy and hacked when blown straight. I was under the faucet within an hour of getting home. I'll go back. Even if just for the head-scrubbing. For $25 plus tip, it pretty much rocks. read more

Been getting my hair cut here once every 1-2 yrs. I juat get a regular trim and no wash, I'm not a regular so I donr know the staff there well. I just go with whoever is free at the moment. I cam here today to get a 3 inCH trim and side bang. It came out alright. No complaints. Like most places they charge a little more for long hair cuts. My total came out to be $17 for the cut and I gave a few bucks in tips. While process was about 30 minutes. I. don't talk during the seasion and I liked that my stylist (dont know his name, has tatoo on right hand) kind of knew that and didn't try to engage me into a convo. It could also be that I don't speak much mando, just canto. Overall simple and quick haircut. I think I will content with the price and the quality I get here. read more

I had bright red hair and my roots grew out so I wanted to dye it to a more subtle color. They managed to dye my hair so that the whole thing was evenly colored, even though half my hair was super dark and half was light. For the first time my hair color actually looked like how it looked on the sample. My hair stylist was also very attentive and detail oriented. I went to dye my hair today and showed what I wanted from a picture. They used so much bleach and literally made my hair green and my roots were a golden blonde. Then they tried to fix it by making the green a purple. I left that place with green and purple hair. It was horrible, never coming back again. STEER CLEAR OF THIS PLACE IF YOU WANT BALAYAGE/OMBRE. I normally get my hair cut in Manhattan and have always had great results there. This time I didn't feel like travelling an hour to Chinatown so I decided to research salons within the neighborhood of Bensonhurst that received high ratings. (Because when people rate an establishment 5-stars...it's gotta be good right?) That's when I stumbled upon the page of 'Salon de Anna' which only has 8 reviews but also has an average of 4.5 rating. After reading the reviews, I was completely sold and wanted to go to Anna. Thanks to a couple of the reviewers that said she actually closed her salon and is working at a different salon called 'Hair Station' So I visited her on Thursday and she was really sweet during our first encounter. She asked me how did I find out about her and I told her that I read reviews about her on Yelp...she was so appreciative the entire time because of this. After my hair was washed, I showed her pictures of a long bob (lob) hair cut that I wanted and she was able to replicate it, but because the girl didn't have layers my hair ended up looking really flat. I asked her if she can give me a little layers...and only a little because my hair hates layers since it's always the part that becomes dry and frizzy. The hair cut turned out great, but honestly I would rather go back to my other stylist in Manhattan because she understands what I want. Another thing I liked about Anna is that she is not super chatty nor nosy, not the type that wants to know what you do for a living, where you work, where you attend school, etc. After I paid for my haircut and tipped, I asked her about hair coloring because I'd always wanted to do ombre. I showed her a picture of a girl with light brown ombre and black hair, and she said she would be able to do it for me if I'm willing to bleach my ends and it should be around $50. At that moment I was skeptical because I didn't want bleach to ruin my virgin black hair so I just told her I'll think about it. Fast forward 2 days, I came back to the salon because I was so tempted to get my hair colored after lurking at Instagram pictures of girls with the Balayage/Ombre hair. I showed her pictures of the Balayage hair style and I also specifically warned her that I don't want any red/orange tones because I think it looks tacky. She told me it's inevitable for Asian hair to turn a little red/orange after coloring, but she'll make it work by applying a little bleach on certain areas. From there, she adjusted the pricing from $50 to $90 because she has to use 2-3 colors to achieve the look I wanted especially since I have really black hair. I was fine with this because it's still affordable compared to the prices in Manhattan (-ahem- Hair something something) I was so scared when she started applying color and foiling my hair because with Balayage, you're supposed to paint or sweep the color on the hair while creating a gradient effect..instead of foiling one shade at a time. At this point, I already feel like I made a terrible mistake coming in thinking I would receive the Balayage that I want at a fraction of what it typically costs. Then 4 hours later, after they washed out the after-color treatment, Anna was finally ready to blow dry and style my hair. I finally got to see how it looks like, and boy I was disappointed. It wasn't what I anticipated! The top of my head had streaky, orangey-brown highlights. The inner-bottom portion was bleached which she didn't even tell me she was going to do during our consultation and the pictures I showed her didn't even have that part bleached. While she was styling my hair, I asked if she knew about the Balayage technique which I had to repeat it to her a few times and clearly this is already a telltale sign that she doesn't know or was probably never ever trained or attempted to do Balayage. (It's absolutely my fault for not asking her during the consultation because I assumed she knows of the technique, just not the term, given that she used to own her own salon.) Lesson learned. I don't mean to bash Anna by any means because she really did take her time cutting my hair. But I can't help but feel pissed off that the top layer of my hair has streaky orange strands and a bunch of yellowy-blonde hair on the inner-bottom portion (which I'll eventually have to dye over/do color correction when it grows out.) She said the streaky mess will eventually fade to a lighter shade, so we'll see about that. After I'm done writing this review, I can't wait to wash my hair. Definitely go to Anna for an affordable $20 haircut, but DO NOT ASK FOR BALAYAGE/OMBRE. This is not the place! I finally understand what they mean "You get what you pay for." Don't shy away from higher-end, modern-looking salons because the stylists and colorists there certainly do invest in their craft. I won't be returning! A couple of years ago I went to this salon to dye my hair and it turned bright orange. They tried to fix it by turning it even more orange. I wasn't even trying to obtain a wild color in the first place, just some ordinary dark brown (my hair is naturally black), and they supposedly have experience with Asian or dark hair in general, so I thought they'd be ok, but I was wrong. They just have experience ruining it. After the failed attempts, the owner was reluctant in bleaching my hair (she said that was the only way to fix it, but didn't really want to do it) and told me to come back on the weekend. I never went back. They didn't seem confident at all in what they were planning to do, and I didn't think they were trustworthy. They weren't apologetic either, nor did they care about my situation. They probably just wanted me to leave because I was a burden to them. I never got my money back either. Stay away from this place. read more

Reasonable price. So far I visited this place twice. The first time I just had my hair wash and blow dry curly on one of the Sundays. I always visit hair saloon. I can easily tell the hairdresser I think named ah Ming is an experience guy. Therefore, I decided to look for him again on last Tuesday. However, he was off. I was welcomed by another hairdresser named Michelle. She is nice. She helped me picked and mixed the color for me after I told her I like burgundy. I'd my long hair dye and highlight and it costs me around hundred bucks which I think it's fair. I received a lot of compliments from my friends. I would strongly recommend this hair saloon. It's very crowded on my both visits on weekday and weekend. I noticed the clientele includes Asian, White and Spanish. I believe they must be doing a very consistent good work. read more

Yesterday, I came in for a trim for my bangs because the hair salon I usually go to is super busy. I had great service when the lady washed my hair. She was very tentative to my needs. Loved her very much but once it was hair stylist's turn, she messed up my day big time. I came into the salon with long hair cut straight cut with long side bangs. I showed her a picture on how long I want it to be ONLY THE BANGS and I trusted her because she is a female and looks professional. She told me that it would look better if I got a trim. So I'm thinking "oh maybe I should since its been a while" I asked her if it's a good idea and she said yes and that itll look way better than what I had before (MY HAIRSTYLE PRIOR TO HER MESSING UP WAS CUT MY A PROFESSIONAL, in an expensive salon) I didn't have my glasses on so I can't see what she is doing but once I saw her cut my bangs, I knew she messed up. I have a huge forehead and she cut it so short that half my forehead was exposed. She asked me if I wanted layers and I said no but apparently she did that even before she asked me if I wanted it. ALSO! She turned my straight cut into a V shape. Basically the back of my hair has 3 different layers which I didn't ask for. A V shape I never asked for and also she cut my bangs way too short. I didn't realize she cut my hair into a V shape until I got home. I called them back and explained to the manager what happened and how your hair stylist messed up my hair. Not a word of apology and he said what do you want me to do? WHAT KIND OF SERVICE IS THAT? Is that how you get customers by being so rude? I've never been at a hair salon where the stylist decides to do what they want with the customers hair without first asking them. And says that their method is better and is what she wants to do. No wonder your salon was so empty yesterday. You are losing customer and probably your whole salon for being rude and hiring unskilled hair stylist. The only person I know that is good is probably Michelle which wasn't there yesterday. read more

This is my second time coming back to the hair station, I found everyone here to be extremely polite and competent. I got my haircut much faster than some other salons, people are efficient and their booking system is organized, time saving is extremely important for me. I had different stylist from the last time, both stylists were amazing. First time going to this salon and it was a nice experience. Compared to the other salons, I have to say it was pretty cheap. It was $55 for color and a trim. The people there were really nice and kept asking if everything was alright. But the coloring was a 9/10 for me since I had uneven coloring before the dye, it had a uneven coloring in the end. It not a big deal since the colors were very similar and its not very noticeable. I recommend this place. read more

I have been getting my hair straightened here for many years. Perhaps over 4 years now. I have frizzy wavy hair and Michelle really takes good care of it. its a long process, about 3 to 4 hours, but well worth the wait. the neck massage in between treatments is great. read more

I'm so angry with the service in this hair salon! I got my hair washed by one of the woman in the back (the oldest one there, short hair) and she acted like I was a burden instead of a customer. She forcibly pushed my head down onto the sink in the back, which hurts my neck. When she was "washing" my hair she barely did any work. She was too busy talking with her coworkers and when she finally remember that there's a customer waiting, she harshly scratched my hair to make it seem like there was effort put in. She barely even rinsed out my hair and there were leftover shampoo in both my ears and all over my face. I had to rewash my hair right after I got home. The "massage" she gave me was 3 hard slaps on the back. My shoulders were fine before she touched it but after she "massaged" it, they became really sore. I even gave a tip of $3 (which I regret so much afterwards). The only thing I liked about this hair salon was the barber, Ming. He did a nice job with my hair and it's pretty even throughout. One of my friends came her after I recommended the barber and told me that she wasn't coming back anymore due to the horrible hair-washing service that same lady gave her. I was in dire need of a cut, and had seen the steamer for treatments inside when passing by, plus the listed price for hair treatment / colour treatment: 30+ seemed ok. there are plenty of cheaper places on 8th, as low as 15, but a certain level of cheap generally has a waste of money! type outcome. This place has cheery borderline-neon walls, and keeps TVB on the tv in the front. Overall the interior ranks about the same as other similarly priced salons in the area. Cleanliness is so-so. The stylists don't always remove the last person's hair from their brushes- gross! All the employees speak cantonese. The hair wash includes massage, but this place doesn't do double rinse after cut unless you ask. Treatments for long hair, mine was to the middle of my ribcage, are 45, 55, 65, 85 ect. With a cut w/ blow&straighten it was 63. They have tabloids and chinese newspapers. I had brought a book. the treatment was ok, the steamer was an ok quality, definitely not matching those in japanese salons. considering that i was the one who was too lazy to venture past my neighbourhood i wasn't complaining. Cut was fine. nothing spectacular, hubby likes it more than i do. My hair definitely looks better though, so overall i'm pretty happy. I'll probably go back, but i may try another one of the numerous places nearby. Additionally, bathroom is clean if a bit lackluster, though the mirror is decent size. Obviously, cash only. read more

First off, the Staff is friendly ...when they want to. My last visit was not my best although during the shampoo part I was given an awesome head and back massage which was much needed. My hair stylist obviously could not understand or speak much english so I couldn't communicate properly...I asked for simple curls and he did not style them to my liking. they may be good for man's cut, but my girlfriend had hair cuts in this salon for years, it was never good. they cut want they want, not what u want. she's not coming back to this salon. she tried David & Ming, david was a regular stylist, but he didn't do much stylist. most he does is to trim as little as possible, save as long as possible while she told him she wants to cut it short, it seems like he wants to get done with u within 30 mins (20mins is waiting time). he seems to be lousy, sloppy and always complaint about her hair being too difficult for him to cut. too short, too thick. lol my girlfriend said it's still fine coz she only see him once a year or less. Ming is very attentive but he's not good with long hair. both r 10+ year experienced but not with long hair. instead, for men's hair, it's easy for them because they just use the shaver to shave and not much of cutting. if u want to look something with styling (ear length ) hair, they would prefer to shave most of your hair and make u look like a grade schooler. 9 out of 10 men 's hair look pretty much the same. read more
