I went to this salon because I received a recommendation. The stylist (Lien) did not listen to what I wanted to achieve for my hair (working on slowly transitioning from brown to grey). I was told I would look bad with grey hair and it was dyed to a color darker than what I normally do. I also asked to just take a little off the ends and the stylist put extreme layers into my one length straight hair. I ended up looking like a mushroom head, tried curling it to make the layers work, but my hair won't hold a curl. I don't recommend this salon. read more

THIS IS 100% UNACCEPTABLE!!! My hair was burned off by stylist/owner Nikki Darling one of the new owners at Hair Studio 164. I am just sick over this every single day. She ruined my hair. Lein is awesome!!! I moved from AZ in the past 5 years ago to WA. I had a hard time finding the right hair designer. I found Lien based on a friend's recommendation; she has done color and cut for me ever since(13 years and counting!!). She is wonderful!!! Hair designer. We are becoming friends since. All my friends asked me where I did my hair, even people I don't know wherever I went came to ask me. So, I asked Lein to give me her business cards, and I will give to whoever was interested in my hair color style. It's funny that we talked about whenever she decided to retire from her salon and work for another salon, I will follow her. She is the only person i've ever met who does EXACLY what she's asked and does it PERFECTLY. You've probably all been there, gotten your hair done and thought, oh i'll book another appointment later on. STOP DOING THAT AND GO LET MISS NIKKI WORK HER MAGIC! Tried to go twice with appointment made a week in advance doing haircut, highlights and root touch up. First appointment supposed to be 9 am Saturday. At 9:15 I had been explain that due to emergency I cannot get the service this day. The person talking with me through messages told me tomorrow at 3 pm. The same story happened on the following day just with different excuse... and turned out that if I am willing to pay more than what initially agreed on things would be different. read more

My hair is involved, as I wear extensions and get hi-lights. Nikki is quic, professional and always makes me feel like she loves doing my service. She has a client for life. I'm very surprised there aren't more reviews for this place. It is convenient to get to and they have free coffee! It's off of a very busy road, that's easy to get to, and there are always people here. Laura is always very accommodating to my busy schedule, even with her busy wedding schedule (Elle W. Hair). She always manages to find time for me. I've seen her wedding work and it looks like she could just be doing that (she's that good). You can tell that she genuinely loves what she does. I'm surprised no one has reviewed this place. This salon is located on a busy street a few stores away from a 76 gas station. When you walk in, there's a small unmanned reception desk on the right. It's more of a display area for sale items like jewelry and wooden signs. More stuff for sale including hair products on the shelf behind it against the wall. On the left are a few chairs and a nightstand with a Keurig and tea bags. A water dispenser beside it. Interesting was a framed notice reminding parents that this area is off limits for kids. This area was dusty and clearly it hasn't been cleaned for a while. A few nail stations available as well. Megan was a referral and I was very pleased with my cut. I liked that she took the time to understand what about my hair I wasn't happy with. I will be back to get some color. Traffic is a challenge during rush hour and thankfully there is ample parking. read more

My hair was in terrible condition, over processed, would not grow, kept breaking off and felt like straw. I like being blonde and have longer hair, but ended up going darker in an effort to "save" my hair. My hair was shorter than I wanted due to extreme breakage. Megan expertly assessed my hair, said there's no reason I can't be blonde, have long hair, we just need to be super careful and use the proper products and process. After a year under Megan's care, my hair is longer, blonder, and feels and looks soft like silk. So happy to have found Megan. Megan really is an expert and keeps current on products, and techniques. I made an appointment at hair studio 164 with one of the owners to have a balayage done to my hair. I arrived the day of and showed her a picture for inspiration of what I generally wanted, totally understanding it wouldn't be exact. She got to work and asked if I wanted my natural colour as the base or rose gold. I opted for rose gold since it sounds like a nice colour and she bleached my ends to give them the lighter look. She put the hair in plastic wrap but never once blended the colours together. When she washed my hair, toner was never left on it to bring down the brightness of the colour. She assured me it would fade and look more natural after a couple of days. I left with mermaid red roots and blonde ends. But it was curled so I couldn't see how terrible it really looked. Having never coloured my hair before, my trust was with her word that it would fade. I got home and washed my hair as much as I could, with no fading happening at all over 3 days. This salon is a friendly feeling, but the lady who did my hair, Laura, told me they make their own appointments so she had to answer her phone during my appointment. The salon declined my request for my $200+ back despite the humiliating results of My Hair. I cannot recommend this salon to anyone. This salon is not like any other. The people who work here (stylist, nail tects., massage therapist, threader,) all work for them selves. By appointment only. This is not an impersonal salon, but a private personal care oasis. I had to work at coordinating appointments, but well worth it. I got a massage, pedicure, hair and eye brows. Loved every minute.
