Today I had the chance to meet Eli. Such a nice person, first off. The salon is really cute, and is in a nice location, with other shops and eateries. The staff is very friendly, and I was asked if I wanted water. I have been feeling lackluster about my newest perm, my hair changing to gray, and my previous cut was not giving shape to my face. (I did not have those services done at this place.) So Eli asked alot of questions and really listened to what I wanted, and we came up with a game plan. Danielle is very talented. I wanted to do short butterfly cut. She took the time to understand my needs ( mom of a toddler and a baby), definitely don't have much time to style everyday. All of the stylists I've seen are fantastic - and the owner knows what he's doing and how to treat both his staff and clients. But this changed for the first time after seeing Kelli here. She is the most amazing person you can ask for as a hair stylist. I went to this place to get my haircut after seeing all the positive reviews and the rating. But I'm highly disappointed with the service. I got a haircut from Caprica. Before starting the haircut, I showed her the pictures ( from my phone) of the exact haircut I wanted. I even explained her what I was looking for, she acknowledged and I again showed the pics right after the shampoo just in case if she had forgotten. She was measuring the bang length and the shortest layer in the front, and straight up, went ahead and chopped almost half of my hair at the back...I was upset and told her that's not what I asked for. I reiterated what I wanted and I asked her to give me the layers as shown in the first pic. She was trying to cover up and it was already too late as she chopped off my hair. And I told myself that's ok and may be she can give layers to the hair that was left and make it look good ok...the way she was cutting, I could easily tell that she is not at all experienced in doing haircuts for long hair...she finished the cut in 5 mins and then started blow drying...even the blow dry was sloppy. I thought after drying the hair, she would go and blend the layers or texturize it, but alas. I went with a hip length hair, asked her to take out 1-2 inch of hair and give me the long layers but I was left with shoulder length hair with flat and bulk looking sloppy haircut. She screwed up, now I have to wait 6 months for my hair to grow back and get a decent haircut from somewhere else. Her hospitality and customer service was all great, but she is definitely NOT a good hair stylist. And when I looked at final look I was upset, she called another lady, I explained to her what happened, but they both went inside, wasted 5 more mins of my time and came back with a 50% discount. Seriously?! I'm willing to pay you double, can you give my hair back...and the manager lady didn't even bother to ask what went wrong.., horrendous service...will never go back to this place... read more

I have been going here since last June. I see Kelli and love how she really takes the time to figure out what is will work the best and the results that I am looking to achieve. I decided to go from blonde to a medium brown , well actually I wanted to go darker but Kelli said lets do it in smaller steps. So thankful I listened to her, as I was back in within 6 weeks as my natural color is much lighter so the grow out was obvious . So when I went back in she was able to get to a darker blonde and said we need to do this in steps. So I went in this past weekend and she ended up needing to do a color correction to get the results I was looking for, now I am back to a golden blonde and I love it worth the four hours in the chair. However she said that next time in we will need take a couple of inches off to keep the hair healthy. I am trying to grow my hair out, but the positive is my hair grows quick. read more

I had been coming here since it's inception up until the pandemic hit and I moved across the country. I always knew the service was phenomenal but upon moving to Philadelphia, was able to make a quick comparison as to how much better this salon was! Here you get a hand massage while you're waiting, a scalp massage while getting shampooed and FREE blow out with any service (ie cut, color). I grew to think this was the standard until I moved out here to find there is an additional charge for toner (not my problem if the color didn't turn out right and you need to use it) or a blow out. I was floored after a full color out here they'll let you walk out with your hair wet to blow it dry at home to make sure you 'like' the color- unbelievable! I didn't realize how good I had it, not to mention how amazing Derik is. I had been with him since beauty school and he has become a dear friend. With a naturally very dark hair to get it as blonde as he did was pure art. I always left happy and satisfied and looked forward to going to my appointments (which I don't now). This is the second salon I've tried in MC Town Center and every aspect of the experience was 5 star! The salon decor is a relaxing balance of modern minimalism meets eco chic. The co-owners (Derik and Ayla) are certified instructors who are true experts in cut, color, etc. They are also training a few students in their apprentice program and supervise their work in the salon if you are looking for a less expensive option. I greatly enjoyed co-owner Ayla who did an expert color to cover my gray and precision cut on my fine straight hair. The whole process took two hours. The complimentary hot herbal tea was very flavorful and the hand massage (while my color was processing) was an unexpected treat. They even have a special type of shampoo bowl that tilts to reach your head for added comfort. I'm only 4'-10" so this made the shampoo experience very comfortable. Their prices are listed on their website and you can call the salon and ask about their discounted prices if you would like an apprentice to do your cut or color. So glad to have a modern high quality salon in the town center! read more

First of all, this salon is f**king amazing. I had one of the most incredible haircut experiences of my entire life here and I can't wait to go back! I had an appointment with Derik over the past weekend and it was the highlight of my week, if not my whole month. I can't tell you how many times I've gone into a hair appointment with a picture of what I want and walked out being like "ohhhhhh no, what happened." Not only did I not even provide a picture of what I was asking for, but I'm growing out a partial shave on 1/4 of my head that was cut in the shape of a SQUARE, so I had a whole lot to deal with. Derik is so incredibly talented that he knew exactly what I needed to help hide the growout from this atrocity on my dome and my hair looks fabulous. You book a haircut, but they go out of their way at Salon Tagua to treat you to a mini spa day. I'm talking scalp massages, hair treatments, essential oils, fancy citrus water, all that good sh*t. I walked out of there looking fantastic and feeling the most relaxed I have felt in months. I can't stop telling people to go to this place! The entire staff is super sweet and helpful, and you can tell everyone there is really invested in what they are doing. Kelli is the best!! She transformed a 1.5 year grow out from a very intense bleach & tone into a beautifully blended and toned blonde, perfect for summer (and easy maintenance). There was an issue with the texture of my hair after the color processing because of the state of my hair before she got her hands on it. She got me back in to the salon right away for an all-over protein treatment & to discuss options and care for my type of hair. She has made my hair feel and look absolutely incredible! I went to this salon for the first time this morning . First of all they give a questionnaire asking what you want to focus on and expectations . Such a simple concept that is so effective! Great idea ! Tory did my hair and I am soo happy with the results . I have very think long hair that is time consuming. She spent a hour and a half with me . A nice scalp massage with wonderful smelling oil. Then while we left conditioner on my hair a arm and hand massage with awesome lotion. Tory was so sweet and easy to be with .
