I came in, and I am very inexperienced with what it takes to get a certain hair color, but she was very kind and patient with me, explaining each step and making sure I was okay. I had previous box dye color in my hair and she worked hard to remove it and lift the color in my hair, so that my final color could be achieved. Lily is inexperienced and does not know how to perm. I came in because she was having an introduction discount. She just moved here. The perm resulted in curly parts and straight parts. She blow dried my hair straight after to cover this up. And my hair is severely damaged, fried, and brittle. She tried to blame it on my 2 month old highlights. Then She said it takes a weak for it to relax. I had perms for 30 years and never had this issue. Stay away from her. read more

This review is only for the hair product that I bought from getting highlights. The lady who helped me and did my hair was Cathy she did a great job with my highlights. However she sold me a horrible product from JOICO. I tried to return it but she would only give me half of what I paid for. Which I refused I decided to keep the product because of how expensive it was. The JOICO shampoo and conditioner did not smell the same like when she used it with me at the salon, leaves my hair dry and coarse. I ended up throwing it away with half the product since it dried out my hair so badly. It cost me 35 dollars so you would think it would leave your hair nice but it didn't have been using herbal essences a 3-4 dollar product and is much better quality than theJOICO crap I bought from her. Please do not buy ANY JOICO PRODUCTS from her if you want dry damaged hair. read more

I have passed by this place on a weekly basis that I can't even remember. From the outside doesn't look to special. So, when I needed 911 help on my hair and it's a Sunday most places were closed. Gave this place a call and they're open 7 days a week. Good to know. First time here, walked in was amazed by the size and it's fairly clean. They do nails and hair so it was nice to see it look like a real salon. Jackie was the one who helped me. She told me about which conditioners are good for my particular hair. She was nice and calm and didn't rush. Although I was in a rush. So far it's going ok. Need more visits here before I can fully commit. They only had two people working. I would really appreciate if they cleaned their spaces up after each use. Charged $25 for a shampoo and blowdry/flatiron because of the length of hair. Normally would of been $30. Cathy Le totally butchered my hair. It was the worst haircut I've ever gotten. I went to her second time expecting the same bob cut at an angle (even showed her a picture again to remind her what I was looking for). Instead I am not sure what I got, some type of Cathy Le "special" that added a couple of decades. A month later, it's still terrible. I have this short layer of hair that's almost two inches shorter than the rest around my head, not sure what look she was going for. It will take probably 6 months for it to all grow out, and no Cathy, a blowdry won't fix it. Stay away from her!!!!! read more

I have been coming here for several years and even before they moved to there current location. I have always been helped by Christine because she knows how to handle my crazy hair and she always does an amazing job. I have super thick hair that is wavy/curly. It's crazy Latin hair. ^_^ I bring her magazine pics, which she likes, and she makes it look just like the pic. A few years ago, she gave me a beautiful pixie cut based on a magazine pic. Later on when that was done growing out, she gave me a cute bob cut, which I kept up for about 2 years. Now I have much longer hair and she gave me simple, classic layers that are much more versatile. She charges me $15 for the haircut and usually includes styling. It's true...you get what you pay for! I went here based on its good reviews. I wish I hadn't listened and paid extra to go elsewhere. I called in the morning and was able to make an appointment later that day. I was already nervous because I wanted to layer my super curly hair and had never had that done. Again, I trusted the reviews and went in. Off the bat, when I walked in, I got looked up and down by two of the girls. I told them I had an appt and one of them pointed to a chair and told me to sit down. As I was walking by I heard them say something in their language and giggle. Oooookay....I sat down. She complimented my eye brows then followed it with "I can tattoo the color for you!" um no. Then she complimented my hair color how it's so nice and natural "I can do highlights!" um no. I should've just gotten up. But again, good reviews...I stayed. I told her I wanted long layers. I usually put my hair up in a ponytail during the week because I don't have time to do it for work. So she went at it...loooots of hair on the floor later and she was done. She told me to look at it and it looked nice at the time. She made a comment "you see the layer...it's right there" and at the time I didn't pay attention what she had said...until I got home. I got home and really checked it out...she did TWO layers! A top layer and the bottom layer...that's it!! Again, I've never had layers again, but I know it's not supposed to be just two OBVIOUS layers. Maybe she's good with straight hair and it's my fault for trusting my curly hair with someone that's inexperienced with that style of hair. But I really wished I would've saved the $18 cut and $5 tip and had gone somewhere else!! read more

Christine (owner): -up to date with latest styles. you should have no problem getting exactly what you ask for -upfront and honest about your hair. she noticed my ex's hair wasn't as shiney, explained why, explained what brands to use when dying it so the hair will have a nicer shine, etc. -she refuses to use sub-par/cheap products! but you will definitely get what you pay for! good value in the end. My ex Mia has been going to Christine for years. After trying other "cheaper" places, she keeps coming back, and for good reason. Other "Asian" places will often cut my ex's hair wrong/ugly, use cheap products to dye it with, or there is a language barrier and no matter what she can't be understood fully. The cheaper initial price of other places only costs my ex more in the long run; Having to get stuff redone/re-dyed, etc. Anyways, being a bald dude i really did not belong in there, LOL..but they were really nice to me. i had a kink in my neck, and this place had a head and shoulders 30 min massage for 30 bucks! yeah, bolsa has those 20 dollar full body massage joints, but the techniques used on me at this salon seemed a lot better/more effective. to me it was worth it, especially since i didn't have to stare at the wall for half an hour. they didn't have a traditional comfy massage chair or secluded section for it, but i wasn't complaining. read more

Christine Rocks! I went to this salon based on the other reviews. Christine took my pictures and a wig I brought in and designed a look just for me. I wanted an easy-to-care-for shag haircut. The haircut is current and fresh looking - and doesn't make me look like a middle-aged woman trying to look too young. She also changed my haircolor to a wonderful combination that makes me look younger and works with my graying hair. The cost was extremely reasonable. Everyone in the salon is friendly and attentive. The salon is very clean and orderly with a small selection of products. They also have a nail salon here but I haven't tried it. This is a real find in my neighborhood, good prices and quality work. Up until about 7 years ago (I can't remember exactly how long), I'd been going around to different hair salons and seemed to always dread the hair cut because I'd pretty much tie it up in a pony-tail for about a week before it would look natural. I came here for the first time as a recommendation from my mom that her "friend" was having a Grand Opening of a hair salon oh so many years ago. I made an appointment (they do walk ins too), and came in knowing generally what I liked, and asked for recommendations (based on my face shape, hair type, etc). Christine took the basics of what I wanted, gave me some recommendations to which I pretty much let her take the reigns from there, and came out with an amazing cut and highlight that I wanted to flaunt right away. I've been going two to three times a year ever since, whether for a hair cut or cut and highlight. Christine really knows what she is doing. Super efficient as well. More recently Christine wasn't available on my short trip home from college so I had a hair cut/style from Jackie instead. She didn't explain as much as Christine does about what she intended or why her style would look good, but my hair cut turned out very pretty in the end. She worked efficiently the whole time and took about an hour total. The cut itself was $15 and blow dry/style was $10 (though I think this is normally $15). Also while I was there, another girl was there getting her hair and make-up done for her wedding that evening...that kind of says a lot in terms of trust in a salon as well. I think the quality here is very good all in itself. And on top of that you can't really beat the price. The facility is very clean, and they offer other services (though I've never tried them before) such as spa chairs, nails, waxing, etc. Highly recommended. This review is for Cathy in particular. I've had the worst time finding a stylist since I moved out here years ago. The woman I had back home was great but no one that I've had so far in the Long Beach area has been able to successfully lighten my hair without it turning orange. My hair does lift more gold than ash, but I have light brown hair so you would think it wouldn't be so hard. I wanted to get hair extensions for a cruise coming up so I bought a Groupon from Cathy for that service. Since I also needed a cut and highlights and she seemed very nice I went ahead and made an appointment with her for that as well. The place is nothing fancy, but it's clean and well maintained and everyone is friendly. Cathy is great, she listened to what I wanted and made sure that I was happy as we went along. I have super long hair so she spent almost 4 hours on the highlights and did a great job. I'm very impressed because I have hair that has a tendency to tangle and she was so gentle that I slept the entire time she was putting in my foils. My hair looks great, the highlights aren't orange at all, and the cut makes my hair have more body and volume. I can't wait to go back next week for my extensions. Also, even after working for so long on my hair, she charged a third as much as other people I've gone to and she did a better job. I definitely recommend her. read more

It has been almost a year since my first review about this place. My hair is still destroyed and I have to get a micro trim every 2-3 weeks so that it isn't matted together. The day after my terrible experience I had to cut off 2 1/2 inches of hair and another inch a week later. I filed a report with the better business bureau to which the owner has not responded. I did my hair with Cathy, she is very nice but my hair look very bad. I came for highlights to blend some grey hair and she just bleached the hair, no added tone, nothing but bleach. Now I have white roots and a yellow chunky looking band like 2 inches from the top. I thought I could salvage it with a purple shampoo, but no, its not working. I rarely leave reviews but looking in the mirror everyday is a constant reminder of a bad hair job. If you want a nice person to talk go to Cathy, if you want nice hair - go somewhere else. read more
