I have tried more than a dozen times to reach out to Jody and finally one of the receptionists said they were not allowed to take any further calls from me. Patrick's hair salon replied that they tried to make things right and yet they do not answer the phone's or reply to messages or anything at all. I have given the chance for them to make it right and now I am banned from calling. Really not a nice business to do this to someone. Jodi is not responsible for fixing anything. I live in Florida. I was in Maryland for a wedding. After many phone calls around the area trying to find someone to do my updo, I chose Patrick's hair design. The receptionist I talked to was so nice, polite, and knowledgeable. She set me up with Sara for hair and Amel for makeup. I could not be happier. Sara did a beautiful job on my hair. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she nailed. It held up all night and I got a ton of compliments. I'm not a make up wearer so I was afraid of what I would look like with a bunch of makeup on. Needless to say, I was very happy with my whole look. I highly recommend this place. read more

I had my updo with Chan and took her only 30 minutes to do it. It looked fine when I left. I went to do My makeup and the hair started to fall down. The makeup artist took I picture so I could see. I called Patrick's and asked if I could stop by so Chan could fix my updo. The receptionist asked how soon I could be there and placed to on hold to talk to her. She then came back stating the the hair stylist was gone!!! 2pm on a Saturday!!!! There is only one way out! She did not see the stylist leaving???? Have been going to Patrick's on and off for decades!! Everyone is beyond professional and accommodating. I have NEVER been disappointed. I moved relatively far from the salon and so tried another stylist. Serious mistake!!! Carol has cut my hair and she is a literal magician. I am a cancer survivor who lost my hair due to chemo. I haven't had my hair done in years. So I was at Patrick's for a partial highlight. My hair is two inches maybe and I got about 12 foils and a toner. My total was $170. I have had my hair highlighted in the past and never paid that much for a partial. It was late so I paid it and called the owner Jodi the next day for an explanation. She never called me back. Sarah did the highlights and told me a tube of color was 7 bucks and there was no way a whole tube was used. So. I wouldn't recommend based on the price and the fact that the owner won't return calls. read more

When I left I felt transformed; my hair looked and felt absolutely beautiful. The salon is very comfortable, well-laid out. The prices are reasonable. I can't imagine going elsewhere. read more

I recently moved to this area and I was stressing out a bit about finding a new barber after going to the same awesome guy in Miami for the last 12 years or so. After one bad haircut at a different place I decided to look for a salon rather than a barbershop, enter Patrick's. I've now had about half a dozen cuts at Patrick with the amazing Nick! He's beyond skilled when it comes to haircuts, I often describe him as a hair "surgeon" because of the way he intently stares at my head to make sure everything is even and perfect. The haircut also includes a shampoo and mini-scalp massage so I feel like I'm having a spa day. I also really love that Nick takes his time with me and my hair, he never makes me feel like he's rushing to get to his next client even though his schedule is always full; and lastly, I love our conversations! He's a really cool person with broad interests, the time flies by when I'm on the chair! The business itself is lovely, it's very spacious and beautifully decorated, it's modern yet warm and inviting, I love the holiday decorations. It's always clean and impeccable, lots of room for everyone to do their work comfortably and keep you far enough from the other clients that your visit feels private. The location is very convenient and there's lots of free parking. I'm comfortably admitting that I'm vain when it comes to my hair, which also means I'm very picky about it looking great between cuts, and I feel fortunate to have found Nick and Patrick's on just my 2nd try at a haircut place in Columbia! read more

Don't know if it's just Shan or the whole place, but I just had the worst haircut of my life. Asked for a skin fade and took her literally less than 5 minutes - might not have a lot of hair but even a bald person needs more than that to shave their head. She started buzzing my head with no "fade" whatsoever. After she was halfway done with it, reached the transition to the beard and said "oh but it's not gonna match the beard!" -- you would expect a "hair designer" to know how to blend into a beard??? Would give no stars if I could. Was seen for the first time on Sept 14, for a manicure. Wasn't thrilled but thought I would give it another try and made another appt for today. When I made the follow up appointment at the front desk, I waited patiently while they fawned over an elderly couple checking out and making next appointment. Took about 10 mins for 2 people to do this. Finally got to me and I thought the appointment was scheduled. Nope, nothing in their records. No appts at all. They won't be seeing me again. I loved my haircut but the reception staff was gossiping about all the customers that came in and I could hear them while I was sitting on the couch near the front desk. This was my first time using this salon. MJ did highlights and low lights and they came out great. The only part I was unhappy with was the price. $263. On the phone I was told the price would be about $125. MJ said she had to add the cost of a toner and blow dry, so I was given the wrong price. I didn't expect to pay that much for just highlights and lowlights. read more

Made an appointment, very easy, they use Oribe products which is a sign that the salon is amazing generally. The salon is really pretty and spacious and clean. They're also very friendly on the phone and very friendly at the front desk. I got in a few minutes early and was told that my stylist I'd been put with was running behind because a client had more hair than they expected. I'm totally fine with that because I generally have the same problem so I didn't mind waiting, although the wait was supposed to be about 30 extra minutes which is kind of ridiculous. However, they came back and said she wasn't going to see me and that they were sorry. They did find someone else to do my hair although I didn't get his name. I wish I would have. If there is one thing that I cannot stand it is been put with someone who does not want to be told how to do hair. This was that person. I have been getting my hair blown out for 20 years. I know every single thing about my hair and what it needs. Do not act like you know more. 1) I'm the customer and 2) I know more about my hair than anyone. I sit down and this jerk starts brushing my hair out and it hurts really bad. He keeps combing and combing and combing until finally I grab my head and say ouch. Then he finally decides he's done combing it. The second problem was when he starts to blow dry my hair he isn't using a nozzle to direct the flow. Let me tell you one thing for anyone that ever sees this, run the other direction. You cannot blowout hair without this nozzle unless you do not care how it comes out. You can never get the roots straight with curly hair, which is what I have, by just blowing it randomly. You HAVE to direct the heat DIRECTLY on the roots. You can't just wave a blow dryer around and hope it hits the spot. You just can't. While he's drying it a little bit before the actual blowout I make a comment that I like the blow dryer he's using but he doesn't hear because of the noise. He shuts the blow dryer off rudely and says 'WHAT?' I repeat myself and he calms down. I can tell you this right now I have never disliked a person doing my hair more than this person. He was incredibly rude. During all of this he's using a flat iron to make my hair straight. I just need to say that because when I got back to my hotel room I looked in the mirror and I literally started laughing out loud. There were roots all over my head that were still curly. You can't straighten hair and leave the roots curly. My hair is incredibly curly. It just shows what a terrible blowout that I got. I wouldn't go back to the salon for free. As a matter fact they should refund my money because it was such a crappy experience all around and my hair looks like garbage. Beware. read more

I have been going to Patrick's Hair Salon for 5+ years. Stephanie B has always kept her appointments on time and without fail. I simply have never been disappointed in the salon. Very clean salon currently and even prior to COVID. Recently over the past 12-18 months they started sending appointment confirmations via email which I find incredibly helpful for when I make that appointment on the run or between errands. I don't write many reviews, thus please know the review is genuine. I usually only write if is bad and I am angered or really good. I'm a serial monogamist when it comes to salons. Sometimes one journeys about Howard County trying to find that perfect salon & stylist. Sure, I've been in love before - I must admit. First Lutfi, then Rafet, then on the recommendation of a friend I found Michelle at Patrick's! I've been going to Patrick's for years now and I can't see leaving. Sure, the prices have risen a bit since the salon has changed ownership & management from the late great Patrick to perky, but slightly salty, Jodi. My stylist Michelle du Monceau is SO talented, SO amazing, & and she's not afraid to try my funky hair styles & colour combos that are admittedly a bit avant-garde. She listens, she gives great ideas, and when I have a super whacky idea that just won't work - she counsels. Sometimes I still do it - hair does grow, right? See the posted picture of a recent colour experiment. She also does lovely traditional foils, ombré, & highlights. I like that they offer little bottles of water to customers, and Keurig brewed coffee. I love the decor and the layout. A few things I don't love...parking. Also, the pedicure thrones look both dangerous and uncomfortable. ((go to 3D Nails for THAT & Save $$)) Ask for Michelle D. If you need a change, a great stylist, or want to play around with something new I would suggest giving Patrick's a try - be sure to ask for Michelle D. She works Wed-Sat. and she's worth the trip & the tip! Shady Note: The other Michelle in the salon has a deep LOUD & brash voice. As in, when she talks the whole salon can her her self-absorbed pretentious prattle - not to be shady, but this girl seems obnoxious. Wait, that was super shady, huh? Ah well. ;-) I'm snarky. I was a client for approximately 2 years, but the level of service at the salon really dropped off until it got so bad that it was just a stressful and unpleasant experience going there, so I had to switch. Last time I had an appointment, my stylist was 30 min late getting me in the chair. I was fine with this (delays can happen to even the most organized people), but then the appointment became so rushed that I felt like she was trying to make up time on me. She was slapping the hair color haphazardly on my hair, getting it all over my face, and was just in a mad rush the entire time. When it was time to wash the color out, the conditioner that was supposed to sit for 5 minutes was washed out right away (I guess to save time, even though this is a service that I pay extra for). When I asked for it to be reapplied and left on for the full 5 min, I turned around and saw that my stylist had started doing someone else's highlights! Last I checked, highlights take more than 5 min. So I guess I was expected to have my appointment delayed another 30 min on top of the 30 min delay that had already happened. The lady who washed my hair wouldn't give me a clean towel to wrap around my wet hair while I waited because they were "almost out of towels", so I guess I was expected to use the dirty towel or just sit there shivering with wet hair for half an hour. I had to repeatedly ask her for a towel to dry my hair, and she gave me one grudgingly. I was very late to my other appointments by this point, so I dried my hair and left. What really frustrated me is that the manager called me back to apologize for the situation, and told me that she would send me a gift card to cover one full hair treatment (my usual color/glaze). I asked the salon staff if this could also be used toward products, and they told me yes. When I got the card, it was for less than half the value of my usual hair treatment. I went to the salon to buy some products, and was told that I couldn't use it for that purpose, even though I had originally been told over the phone that I could. The manager didn't even come out to talk to me - I was told that she would call me, but she never called. Overall, it's a pretty bad was to treat a customer of 2+ years who has always tipped generously on pretty expensive hair color services. It seems that they thought the would just give me the minimum possible to get me to come back, but I'm not actually valued as a client. In addition to all of the above, the place is noise with tons of hair dryers running at any given time, and the level of service is not what I would expect for a place where I regularly pay $200-$300+ for services. read more

I had an appointment on Friday with Michelle and I am so incredibly unhappy with my haircut. I asked for a simple shoulder length cut but by hair is completely uneven and a huge chunk comes out the back. I am going back tomorrow so someone else can fix it but I am furious I paid $55 and $5 in tips for this mess. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I am beyond disgusted by the service I reviewed or lack thereof. I went in a month ago for partial highlights and a trim. The appointment took 5.5 hours and I was the ONLY client. The highlights alone took 3 hours which is unacceptable. I kept my cool in the salon because I rarely heft my hair done, so I figured with all the time put in, my color and style would be beautiful. I got home and straightened my hair and it was the absolute worst haircut I ever received not to mention my highlights were barely noticeable. Seeing as I spent over 5 hours in the salon, I did not notice this until later in the evening. I then had to wait two days until the salon was opened. I called first thing in the morning to get back in immediately and get my hair fixed. I was told that the owner would call me as soon as she got in. 4 hours later I had yet to receive a call from her so I called again and was informed she was just too busy. I spoke to her briefly in which her tone to me was very unpleasant. She told me I could come in at the end of the week (waiting 4 days) which was not an option for me as I looked atrocious and work two jobs. I then requested my money back as I needed to go to another salon ASAP to get it fixed. That's when I was told I could be seen that afternoon. When I arrived to the salon I was fuming. They made me wait an additional 30 minutes from the appointment time that they gave me and they were not pleasant at all. The owner cut my hair dry, which I understand is common. However, my hair had been partially straightened after coming right from work. Therefore she should have straightened it fully before cutting. Due to the initial stylist's poor cut, I had to have an additional 2 inches cut. Then I was told my coloring couldn't be fixed that evening because she didn't have time. Ridiculous! So 2 weeks later she managed to make time for me. I went in upset of course as this is now the third time in and going on 7+ hours of "service." Once again I had to have the cut fixed as it was still SO choppy...this meant another 1.5 inches off. When she finished with the color, I was in utter dismay. I did not receive partial highlights, I received bleached orange yellow hair which looks horrific. After 10+ hours of service I have never been more disappointed and disgusted by customer service and the lack of accountability taken. But wait, it gets better. They tried selling me a $55 hair product on my way out to help protect my hair when I straighten it after I had already paid over $200 were the worst cut and highlight. The ONLy REASON I have to now straighten it everyday is because I had 4 more inches of hair cut off that the original 4 inches I asked for. Which gets me to my next point. I donate my hair every two years. Had I known these stylists would continually to screw up my cut, I would have just gotten my 8 inches cut off to begin with. I truthfully have never been more angered and frustrated by a horrific service that has now ruined my once beautiful strawberry blonde hair. Do yourself a favor and DO NOT go to Patrick's Hair Salon! read more
